Slow to assign IP
I just got the new Airport Extreme Base Station, and am sorta happy with it... Has anyone else have the problem that the computer will connect the the base station quickly but getting a DHCP assignment takes forever? Can't figure it out. This happens with both my PowerBook G4 and my Dell Windows XP laptops.
Thanks.
WRT300N usually needs to have the partner 300N adapter for this work to it's advertised speed and range.

Bridge slow to assign keywords
I've had a lot of trouble assigning keywords to images. If I grab a group of say 40 images and assign a keyword, it will act very slow and in the end will not assign the keyword to all the images. It is almost like it gives up. I am working on a brand new macbook pro, so shouldn't be an issue of hardware. Thoughts?
Exactly the same issue
It is not always easy to use the keywords in a fast way, and depending on amount and file size it can take some time to save the files. It is annoying that each time you add or click a key word the saving starts and also background saving for keywords is not working, you should wait for the selected files to be finished before selecting other files. It is indeed not very productive I'm afraid -
Rendering SLOW after assigning render files to new external hard drive
I just connected a brand new 2 terabyte "Hitachi/Life Studio" hard drive to my mac. I assigned it to the capture scratch and render files hoping a new clean drive would speed up my render process. Unfortunately it did the opposite and now rendering is the slowest it's ever been. Also, mid-render, final cut frequently quits unexpectedly. There is obviously an issue with the drive I'm using.
What can I do to fix these problems?Hi
USB/USB2 or FireWire ?
formatted as Mac OS Extended or UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange ?

RV220W Beta Firmware 1.0.4.17
Is anyone else using the Beta firmware?
There are some improvements.
One can now view alerts and notifications within the software.
Also it appears as if the Protect Link Block Page was reworked to allow direct acces to Trand Micro Website for checking out Blocked URLS.
I also think CPU and memory usage is much improved.
Small Business Support can provide the firmware.I agree with the thought of Cisco needing to take the SMB market seriously.
I suppose some of the issue, like you alluded to is the division of the products between
Enterprise, Enterprise for Small Business, & Small Business.
Enterprise Grade products are Configurable,Complex & not Plug & Play. Their small business counterparts on the contrary need to be easy to use & easy to setup, but instead they retain some of the complexity of their big brothers.
I was advised to buy an SA520, but chose the RV220W because of price.
That said I do like my RV220W over the Sonic Wall TZ100. As far as ZYXEL their product lijne is somewhat limited.
With Cisco I know they have a full line-up of compatible products for the majority of my needs.The products are well built & generally work well with one another.
I do really like the QOS per VLAN on the RV220W as well as the Protect Link Filter. Also the SSL VPN Portal is a really neat idea -it just doesn't work in Windows 7.
Hopefully we see some of the issues addressed in the next firmware update like slow DHCP assignment, lack of clear logs for Protect Link, & an Easy VPN setup wizard. Actually setup Wizards for everything would be great.
Feature Requests:
Port Forwarding Wizard
Protect Link Wizard
VPN Setup Wizard
QOS Setup Wizard (with AUTO VOIP setting?)
Live logs from all systems including Protect Link.
IPS (in a simplified form)
Connect Protect link & Firwall Conten Filtering.
Allow SSLVPN Portal to work with Windows 7, Windows 8, IE9, Firefox, & Chrome. -
CS6: assigning Ramped Slow Motion?
Hi,
it's circumstantial to assign a ramped slow motion effect (time remapping with smooth transition) to a part of a clip — e.g. seen in this video tutorial:
http://layersmagazine.com/time-remap-in-premiere-pro.html
But how it is possible to automate these steps when I want to have this effect multiple times within one clip?
Is there a possibility to copy&paste the time-speed settings to another clip selection? Assignin the copied attributes (via mouse context menu I found in Premiere CS6) results in unexspected results...
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!
mtempShow us the timeline and not the graph editor... A time remapped sequence should look like this.
Because you showed us a screenshot with the graph editor and not the timeline it makes me think that you did not extend the out point of the video. The only way to extend the out point of the video in the graph editor view is to move the CTI (current time indicator) to the end of the comp and press Alt/Option + ] to reset the out point. You can't do it by clicking and dragging in the Graph Editor.
Also, if the entire clip does not preview then you may not have enough ram. I always have my Composition Resolution/Down Sample set to Auto and usually preview at a composition Magnification Ratio value of 50% or 25%. -
Very slow performance when assigning value to a form item
Dear all,
I have an add-on form that contains 30 text edits. I did not creat the from with screen painter but positioned them by marking each item's top and left position in the new sub.
I have named them as 'edBox1', 'edBox2'......, 'edBox30'
At a point I need to assign value to each edit text, I have queried the content from DB into one recordset. However, when I start to assign values to each edit text, the performance became very slow.
my code is as follow
me.form.items.item("edBox1").Specific.String = recordset.field.item(0).value.tostring
me.form.items.item("edBox30").Specific.String = recordset.field.item(29).value.tostring
I found that B1 seem to iterate each item on the form in order to find the item I specified.
so I think I should specificy items earler.
Now for each item I dim an object for it at new sub
Dim oedBox1 As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
Dim oedBox30 As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
and while creating forms, I specificy each item to the matched object
Then I assign values to items by
oedBox1.String = recRetrive.Fields.Item(0).Value.ToString
oedBox30.String = recRetrive.Fields.Item(29).Value.ToString
However, B1 still iterates to find the item and the performance is still slow, does anyone has a better solution to this issue? please kindly advise.
Thank you
Alan
Edited by: Chih-Peng Chen on Dec 17, 2007 8:42 AMHi Chen,
you can find one example under SDK samples which will guide on using datasources
Bind the controls to dbdataource and then query the datasource.
then update form using oForm.Update(),this will automatically fill the values in all edit boxes and it will be very fast as well
Hope it helps you

gimenero 14208 29576 O 12.5 27096 3387 ./whileTrue.binIt looks like the CPU assignation occurs very slowly, and it's limited at 12.5%. The other processes are at 1% or less, so almost the whole processor is available for whileTrue.bin.
Is this behavior configurable? It should not behave like this, a while-true loop should jump to the maximum (in this case, near 100%) in like a second or two (when I try this in another plattform, a Tru64 one, it behaves like spected, jumping to 99% in 1 second). This behavior is making everything very slow. Why is this CPU assignation so slow? Why is it limited? Where can I configure this limit and this rate of cpu assignation?About the 12,5% limit, you're right, we're running on a 8 processor CPU and it considers the whole group to be 100%.

WRT300N Still Slow, Fails to Assign IP
Continue to have range and speed/thru put issues like others, but my biggest problem is the inconsistent assignment of IPs via DHCP.
Unit continues to fail to provide an IP via DHCP to the first system to startup, generally it is my desktop in the morning. Not every morning and not always the wired system.
Have had to teach my wife to cycle the power on the WRT300N which usually provides an IP.
Tech Support (half a world away, not so good English) has been of no help!
I routinely look for updated firmware, but nothing since the original update 06/06
Come on Cisco..., I mean Linksys. Fix your products.WRT300N usually needs to have the partner 300N adapter for this work to it's advertised speed and range.

WRT54GS v.7 - Internet browsing gradually slows down when assigned an IP address.
After assigning an IP address to a PC connected via wire to WRT54GS v.7, internet browsing gradually goes to a crawl and practically stop working. When the address is assigned by DHCP, there are no issues.
Is this a known issue with the router? Are there any pitfalls to avoid when assigning an IP address with WRT54GS v.7? Any pointers on this is greatly appreciated!

Message Edited by wootman on 03-13-2009 08:04 PMBrowsing should not go down if you assign static/manual ip address on your router...If it is working fine with the DHCP assigned IP Address i would suggest you stay with the DHCP assigned address...

Assignment rules slow to become effective
I'm seeing a significant delay from the time I revise an assignment rule to when it actually becomes effective. Why the delay? The documentation contains the following:
CAUTION: When you mark a rule group active, the rule group that was marked active the
last time that the rules were released continues to be active until the rules are released
again. When the rules are next released, the rule group that was most recently marked
active becomes active. When you mark a rule group active, do not delete the previously
active rule group until after the rules have been released.
So, how do you indicate the old rule is to be released? I've tried making the rule non-active and then making it active. It doesn't have any impact.
Regards,
JeffJeff, when make changes to your assignment rules either adding a new rule or modifying a existing rule you to wait until the next day (need to go thru midnight) to test those rules.

Internet Connection Became Slow after Introduction of Cisco ASA 5505 to the Network
I configured a Cisco ASA 5505 (Version Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 7.2(3)
Device Manager Version 5.2(3)
in transparent firewall mode and inserted after Cisco 1700 router. However, the internet connection became very slow and users are compaining that they cannot load any pages.
My setup looks like:

Could the slow internet connection be due to license limitations? Or is there something wrong with my configuration?
Please see the configuration and help.
ThanksI have re-configured the ASA 5505 yesterday and so far it's working fine. I am not sure if the problem will re-appear later on. Anyways here is my sh tech-support

Error when assigning a value to a class
Hi,
Here's what I have:
package com.myprograms.tools1;
public class A
public long orderId;
public int nameId;
public int carId;
public int anId;
package com.myprograms.tools1;
public class B
public A classOfA;
//MAIN Program
import com.myprograms.tools1;
public class getClass
B b= new B();
b.classOfA.orderId = 10029292;
I get a Null Pointer Exception when I assign a value to the var.
Can anybody help point out the problem?
Thanks!What exactly is the error message... i.e. line numbers and class names...

It has almost been an hour since I launched off that little app...
You know you did something wrong when you can actually hear the HardDrive and Fan slow down...
Anyway... LOL... what are the errors, and what is the rest of the code ? or is it fixed now...

[Solved]Xorg 1.6 with nvidia 180.44 2D performance painfully slow
Hi folks,
Since the latest upgrade of Xorg and Nvidia all screen refreshes have become visibly very slow. Anything that has to redraw the whole screen takes a full second and my cpu usage jumps to 15%. The wierd thing is that glxgears is getting 200fps and looks perfectly smooth. Direct rendering is enabled and the client and server versions of the driver match. There are no errors in the Xorg.0.log apart from warnings about ACPI
I am using an Nvidia 6200 in TwinView mode with 2 identical monitors.
Here's my files/logs:

Also try to run some game to see whether it will work.
Already done:
direct rendering: Yes
And I'm at work, no games sorry
I lowered the colour depth to 16bpp and it's a little bit faster on window refreshes. It's good enough to be usable but it's still annoying. -
Adobe Photoshop cs4 - Really slow rendering ?
Hello all,
I have recently started using Photoshop at home again as needed for a course assignment and i have noticed how slow the rendering has gone!
It takes approximately 4minutes to save a .TIFF or .PSD file now and/or even takes 1/2minutes in order to resize a layer?
I am not sure what the problem is, but it also does it on Photoshop CS5 in my college. Is it my files causing this error?
My mac in general has been looked after, and is in immaculate state, therefore i do not believe the hardware is causing the problem.
Any help is deeply appreciated!
Thanks,
Jesse @ pca.ac.ukIm thinking it could be my harddrive, its a new one since.
Could this be why?
Chris Cox wrote:
Could be large files
I doubt it, I have dealt with larger files before and i had never had this problem!
lack of RAM
Mines 4gb, if remember correctly. It's the latest Imac with dual core 500gb hd and was it 2gb?
Either way, my imac does not seem to be handling anything else at a slower rate, it is just photoshop. Bridge was working perfectly when i created a pdf for my presentation!
slow disk
Is this my Hard drive you're talking about as mentioned above?
All the work is saved on my Seagate external/portable hard drive. And said before, i think i have been experiencing problems with it since using it? Is that possible. If so, it might actually explain my problems during college too.
bad utility software (antivirus keeps biting people on file IO), etc.
could you explain more about this? Any ways of making sure it was this being the problem? IO?
Oh, and in some cases it can be caused by third party plugins (FontAgentPro had a bug like that).
Since owning this version of photoshop, i havent actually had the need to download any plugins. because i also on a pc with cs3. -
[SOLVED] system very slow after upgrade
I did today pacman -Syu after some time. I have Dell D630 laptop, Core 2 Duo 2x1.8GHz, 2GB RAM, VGA: Intel X3100. Now the whole system is really slow. I mean REALLY slow. Even opening terminal (urxvt) takes time. Browsing is slow. Mplayer can not handle 720p .mkv playback enymore. cpufreq-info shows both cores uses max. 1.8 GHz frequency under load. I tried top/htop/atop/iotop/powertop but found no suspicious process eating resources. Messages from error.log:

I googled botth messages and as far as I can understand they are not source/symptom of my slowness.
If anybody have hint where to search, any advice will be really helpfull, because I am truly lost...
