Slow to load pages

When I updated from 14.1?? UP to 15. My pages load slower. BEFORE update. Pages were fast, Have tried against Opera AND Internet Explorer. Both of those load like Firefox USE to. I have tried resetting, tweaking and reinstalling. Same issue. Is there a way to go back to 14? Or can I make 15 better? Like I said. SAME pages with other browsers load at least 30-40% faster.

Every thing was email, live scan, firewall(blocked a lot),real time scan and a couple of other things. It came up I had to update my Adobe flash yesterday. It didn't help or hurt anything. It seems to be getting faster. Has the been any updates to Firefox this week?
One more thing. IF I have 2 or more tabs (NOT windows)open, I choose to close one. It takes about 5 seconds every time. Example. I click on "X" to close . . . . . closes. It freezes everything UNTIL it closes. I have defrag my PC. Only had 3-4 lines of red. Eveything "opens" faster. But still slightly slow on the browser(Firefox). No spyware/adware.
I use Centurylink anti virus (F secure). Never really have virus problems. I run an open router, no fire wall on it. Like I stated. All this started after last update.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

  • Safari is extremely slow to load pages & saving my bookmarks to my folders

why is safari so extremely slow in loading pages? it can just about load my e-mail, if I wait about 5 minutes & I cannot check my t mobile cell phone balance because it gets stuck loading the page.
Also I cannot get it to save bookmarks into my designated named bookmark folders anymore, it only will save to the bookmarks bar

I have also heard about the cover flow feature, but I do not see it in my safari, where is it?
Look at this picture and you'll find it. Just click on the marked area/button.

MacBook Prois slow in loading pages from the internet.  Lots of spinning beach balls.  What should I do?

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
If you have anti virus software installed, that could be a factor.
Try troubleshooting third party plugins. Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Official Safari 4 Release Is Extremely Slow to Load Pages

Just installed the new Safari 4.0 (non-beta). Almost every page I bring up takes considerably longer to load. Graphics and audio are especially slow to load.
Apple just touted how much faster this browser is supposed to be at WWDC. ???
    Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Besides audio and video, pages with multiple images take up to 20 seconds to fully load the graphics.
I originally experienced these issues on a MacBook Pro. Now I just installed on an iMac C2D 2.66GHz and I get the exact same experience.
On Beta 4.0, the same pages loaded in about 2 seconds, even after emptying cache and doing a shift-reload.

  • Firefox version 3.618 is slowing down loading pages. How do I downgrade to the version before this? I have windows xp

Ever since my system installed Firefox 3.618, web pages are very slow to load, switch pages, gmail is slower, and when it first comes up, there is a funny black area on the menu bar where I can barely see the links to click for gmail, etc., but the black bar disappears when it switches to a new page. I have windows xp, and want to downgrade to the version before 3.618. Thank you.

go to oldversion.com for a previous version.

  • Safari very slow to load pages

Someone who help me with my Safari. Always that I want to go to a new page my Safari is very slow to load that page. It's loading the page for a long time without opening. I have done everything to fix it, but nothing has worked.
I have a Macbook Pro late 2011 with Yosemite 10.10.2 and my Safari is 8.0.3 version.
Here is a capture of what happens

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Follow the instructions in this support article. Any change?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the boxes marked Safari and Photos, if they're checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Safari slow to load pages

I have a new 20" i-mac (does not have the intel duo processor). When I first took it out of the box and got DSL, it was lightening fast. Now, my DSL service is as slow as dial up. I have contacted the cable company, and they came out and replaced the line, but the tech said that I needed to figure out what was wrong with Safari, as it was having trouble loading pages that had compressed graphics. He suggested that I take it to a store to get Safari fixed. Any idea what might be wrong with Safari (if anything) and has anyone else had this problem?
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4)   NOT the Intel Duo Processor
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4)   NOT the Intel Duo Processor

    socceraj --
Try these basics and report back, OK?
There's more we can suggest, but IMHO, these are where to start.
    1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
    2. Trash your Icons Folder:
    HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
    3. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
Suggestion: Every once in a while, I shut down my Mac and unplug everything --- my Mac, the modem and the router. Wait a couple minutes, plug in the modem/router, and when the lights stabilize, turn the Mac back on. This is really simple, and often works wonders.
    Questions:
Do you have internet apps SpeedDownload, iGetter, PithHelmet, Acid Search, Safari Enhancer ? Or Norton or Virex? Sometimes non-apple internet apps need updating or uninstalling, and will interfere with the fast browsing that is usual for Safari. If you do, let us know which ones and which version, please.
    Hope this helps

  • Firefox 4.0 keeps locking up and is slow to load pages

I just installed 4.0 this morning. Ever since, Hotmail is extremely slow to load, it keeps locking up or not responding.
I thought this was supposed to be faster and more streamlined?
Now, when I try to go back and install 3.6.13 it is no longer available. What gives? I want my old Firefox back.

  • Safari slow to load page from link

I just started having problems with Safari loading pages from a link, the web address has an initial blue highlight then it just hangs, sometimes I have to refresh the page and I also get errors on some web sites when trying to change the page format (i.e. increase the number of items per page). Any ideas?

    Quit Safari.
Open the Finder.   From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly has you see it here:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Click Go
Move the Cache.db to the Trash.
Now disable the Lion v10.7 resume feature.
    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
Restart your Mac. Launch Safari to test.

  • BT Infinity Hub 3 slow to load pages and drops out...

Hi can anyone help, I have had Infinity option2 for less than a month and it has not work properly since it was installed,
done all the around the houses with help from India and they have thanked me for my patience and acknowledge there
is a fault which they say they have fixed, but it's getting worse.
When I do a speed test I get 36Mb down and 8Mb up, great but when I am loading websites they usually take a long time to load and frequently drop out, when I hit the diagnose connection they usually load. I also cannot send or sometimes receive email from my accounts, with server error fault messages also my webcam does not work I can here them but they cannot here me, never had these problems with my previous ISP on only 8Mb.
    Thank you, getting desperate now!

Mate, I feel your pity as, although I've only had Infinity for 4 days, I'm having the exact same problem and NEVER had this issue in the 4 years I was on BT Total Broadband.  To summarise:
Day 1 - Everything worked perfectly
Day 2 - Internet would not load one single page
Day 3 - Working perfectly again
Day 4 - Most pages load, albeit VERY slow
BT India have told me that I have a fault in my line and an engineer will call me back in the next 24/48 hours.  Apparently I was the first person on my cabinet to have Infinity installed so I'm guessing I'm the guinea pig!!!

  • Still pausing and slow to load pages

I've upgraded to Safari 3.1.1, but I still get long (many second) pauses as pages load. It can take 20-40 seconds to load up the home page for a site like www.imdb.com, 20 seconds for CNN, etc. The blue progress bar will just pause for long periods before finally finishing.
My system is a Mac Pro on a cable modem. I've reset Safari completely with little or no affect to the loading time. And I don't have any problems with the speed of downloading files, interacting with iTunes, or any other network applications.
I also have a Windows laptop, and I have no problem loading web pages in IE. It's only Safari on the Mac that is slow.
Is there any way to somehow monitor what the program is doing during the apparent pauses?
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks!

Here's another post from the guy who had the DNS server code solution. This is for 10.4 (Tiger)
Network panel in Tiger is different than Leopard.
    Follow these directions:
-Location - set up a personal location by clicking on the location drop down menu and selecting "add a location". Use a name familiar to you. Once established, select "apply".
-Next, click on the "Show" drop down menu and select Network Port Configurations. Depending on whether you use Ethernet or Airport (wireless) for your setup: Only Ethernet or Airport ought to be checked. Move it to the top of the list (you can drag it). Select "apply". Everything else ought to be unchecked unless you use a Bluetooth device.
-Back to the "Show" menu, select either "Ethernet" or "Airport" (whichever applies to you). Click on the TCP panel. There, if you live outside the US enter 208.67.222.220 and 208.67.220.222 (separate lines) in the DNS servers box - these are Opensource DNS codes. and select "apply". If you live in the US use Verizon's 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 public codes instead of the OpenDNS codes.

  • Safari 5 slow to load pages and fails to resolve addresses - flickering men

At first safari 5 worked great, a day after it began to take ages to resolve and address or worse to load a page. Now I stare at the loading item x of x for ages before a page will come up.
Also, open a couple of tabs and all menus start to flicker when you open them (file, edit, so on) as if a slow refresh effect and I have to close down safari.
Now I clock about 8 to 9 seconds (measured) to open a site that Chrome opens in 3..what gives?
