"slow-tunes"7

anybody else having an issue with their mouse arrow sticking to i-tunes and not letting go. i am just having general issues with it that i have never experienced. it is slow. are there any bug patches or anything i can do to get rid of 7.1. I WANT itunes 6 back!!!

Upgrading to Vista gives problems. There is another topic on that subject. Maybe you can find a solution over there. I still have XP and still am wondering what causes the problem. I see that I-tunes takes a lot of memory (up to 200Mb). IS that different in the older versions?
Thanx again!

  • Itunes opening extremely slow on PC.  Using windows 7 64 bit.  Have re installed itunes several times and tunes not recognizing ipod touch 3rd gen

have this  issue since 10.6 update can't down grade to earlier version...  I tunes drag painly slow to open ever after be re-installed several time.  Any thought out there?

I had the same problem with my iPhone 4. I use Avast as my virus scanner, and the incoming mail filter in Avast screws with iTunes/iPhone and stops the computer recognising the phone. Disabled the mail filter and the iPhone syncs fine. You should give that a go. Possible that it is the same issue with the iPod too.

  • My Mac Mini seems to have slowed a bit.  I bought it last December 2011.  Is there a simple tune up I can do to make it run faster?

My Mac Mini, which I bought last December 2011, seems to have slowed a bit.  Is there something I can do to tune it up to get it to run faster?

    Hi Annie,
Hello, see how many of these you can answer...
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7029
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

I am running the latest version of Internet Cleanup, version 5.0.0 (536) and don't see any updates to that, however, my MBP just started Kernel Panics (very rare) after a recent Software Update (Security or similar). Won't removing the files NetworkSpyAlert.kex and NetBlockade.kext uninstall this function of Internet Cleanup? I realize kernel extensions (.kext files) can bring down the OS, and try to stay away from them, unless they're from Apple directly. Third parties may be slow to fix or they blame each other and guess who usually wins? This leaves the user in a pickle, unless one adopts the practice of "it if crashes the Mac OS and didn't come from Apple, remove it" stance: practical.
Thank you for your posting, as my search and the KP output found Internet Cleanup's NetBlockade:

  • Very slow i-tunes 7.1. Should i take an older version? Or something else?

I-tunes upgraded itself to version 7.1
Since the 7 version (i think) my i-tunes is very slow. It takes 10 seconds when i click on a song to get it played. Besides that I installed some new anti-virussoftware (NOD32, Spysweeper). Is it possible that this new version makes your computer slower and would it help to get an older version of i-tunes? I was pretty satisfied with the older versions, but now i am pretty upset. Or is there something else i should do? I think my computer should be able to work this.
    Some spec's:
    P4 / 2.6 ghz
    1 Gb on RAM
200 Gb of files (use it all day long, so its pretty irritating)

  • Playback is slow on i Tunes

I have just downloaded some updates for I Tunes and since then the playback has definiteley slowed and I have no idea how to solve this.
    Can anybody help me?

Give it a while. No one here gets paid to help; everyone here is just a fellow user, helping out as they have time, knowledge and inclination. So it may take a while before someone who has suggestions regarding your problem sees your post and has time to reply. You posted again less than a half-hour since your first post which really isn't enough time and so it a bit rude. Have patience and with luck someone will shortly offer a potential solution.
While you're waiting, try searching this forum for something like "slow playback" and perhaps you'll find some suggestions already offered.

  • Add tunes to library slow

    OSx 10.6.8
    iTunes 10.4
Macbook Pro 13 inch 2.66 GHz intel core 2 duo  4 gb ram
All of a sudden, using the latest version of iTunes is running very slow or hanging while trying to import mp3 files into the library.   The mp3 files are clean and play just fine when I hit the space bar to play them in Finder.   Plenty of HD space.   Any ideas about what to do to fix this?   It seems to take forever.  Like one album's worth will take as long as 7 or 8 minutes to process and be copied to the library.

In my case (the guy who originally posted), I did both verify disk and verifiy permissions and that did not help my slow import to iTunes problem.   I have been dinking with the preferences in iTunes (such as turning off "Check for new software updates automatically" under "General" and "Always check for available downloads" under "Store" and I briefly thought I had fixed the issue.   But after one fast import, the next one was balky.   I am surprised that so few people are posting about this problem.   Maybe everyone on the planet has already imported all the music on the planet and cannot ingest any more tunes for fear of their brains exploding!   ;-)

  • I tunes playing at slow speed

As I play a song from a playlist or library or even from a cd using my I tunes application, it is as if I am playing an old vinyl record at a slow speed, whats up?

Having a simlar issue.  I recorded video on at 240 fps on my 6 Plus.  The video went into the "slo mo" folder and has the gear icon thing in the corner indicating it was captured that way.  When I try to play the videos back on my iPhone they play at a normal 30 fps.  There is no slider to adjust the speed.  I have NOT sync'd with iTunes at all.  I shot the video and and tried to play it back about an hour later.  I tried restarting the iPhone but that did not help.

  • My MacBook Pro is running SUPER slow. Any troubleshooting I could do at home before having to take it into an Apple dealer for a tune up?

My MacBook Pro is running SUPER slow.  When I start up my computer  it takes forever to load up, when I play World of Warcraft it is  painfully slow with logging in etc.  Everything about starting a program  takes forever to load up and then once you are in the program  everything is super slow. My husband's macbook pro is a 17 inch 2009 and  works WAY better and faster then mine.  Also, i don't know if this is a related problem, but the power drains VERY quickly.  For example, If I have  a MS OFFICE program on I could be at 100% hooked up to my power and then if I go off of my battery, the battery life will only last about 30 to 45 minutes MAX.
Here are the deets on my MacBook:
    17-inch, Late 2011
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.3
    Suggestions?  Thanks!

    Have a look here...

    Basically...
    1)  Make sure you have enough Free Hard Drive space for your Mac to Perform as expected...
Rule of thumb is about 15 to 20 GB
    2)  And adding more RAM is always a prudent move... (4GB of RAM is a minimum for Mavericks... 8GB at least would be better.)
You can use these Links to check which RAM is suitable for your Mac...

    Go to http://www.crucial.com
It is Important to get the Correct and Matching RAM

  • ITunes very slow to resume playing a tune

While using iTunes latest version to the date (8.1.1), it takes about 6 (six) seconds to resume/start to play a tune. This happens even if while I'm playing the tune, I hit pause, and then hit play again (thus freezing for 6 seconds). My iTunes library has 20G.

Same problem here. I spend a week thinking iTunes was locked up, killing it, and insanely doing it over and over again.
Is there some process we can collectively get Apple to look at this? I have spoken to support 3 times, and visited the Geniuses at the store, and while they all seem to want to help, they continue to give me the same bad advice, over and over... reinstall itunes, restore your phone.
I suspect this problem will just magically go away in the next itunes release, but I'd really like someone just once to tell me, hey there was a problem, we know what it was and we fixed it. Here's the details...

  • Need advice on what kind of report, queries to tune database slow issues

Currently we have AWR reports. Our system is 11.1.07 version on AIX/Linux.
Sometimes application will say it is slow running some queries.
We have firewalls implemented so we cannot use toad, or other tools to access through our workstation.
Any good manual suggestions to pinpoint what exact wrong in the system?
    Any good suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Try to forget for a moment the nice GUI tools and read instead what experts do when trying to answer "Why my database is slow ?" in http://www.nocoug.org/Journal/NoCOUG_Journal_201105.pdf.
In your case I would try to work with end users to identify application scenarios that are slow and use SQL trace/TKPROF on related database sessions. For this you only need command line interface (CLI) access to run SQL statements and access to machine hosting database server: that should be possible with the jump server otherwise you cannot do anything and you would better ask someone that has CLI access to database and database server machine.
If you have license to use AWR, you can also use ADDM report which runs an automatic analysis of AWR report and give some advices:

  • Why is CD import so slow since downloading latest i Tunes?

Running Windows Vista - was forced to upgrade to latest version of i Tunes and since then I can't import CD's (or access the store).

    Help!!!

    Try Applejack.
    Download:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/applejack/
    Article on using:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10334620-263.html?tag=mfiredir
It runs in single user mode. After installing (you won't see it in the Applications Folder) hold CMD-S at startup. You will get a black screen with MS-DOS like text. Just follow the prompts: type in "applejack AUTO" and it will run through the following:
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
You can also run tasks selectively and for specific users by typing in "applejack." After running in "AUTO,"  you can go back and run it again as "applejack," steps 3 & 4 only, for your user.
The first reboot will take much longer than usual, as it rebuilds caches. It may take several restarts to see the benefits. Because of the deep cache cleaning in AUTO mode some applications may tell you they are being opened for the first time.
