Slow TV subscription downloads

Hello,
I just updated to Mountain Lion over the weekend and I noticed something is wrong with my iTunes when downloading seasons. I bought season pass for Burn Notice and Breaking Bad and both are extremely slow now. Normally both of the 1.2-1.7 GB files would take less than 20 minutes, now they are taking 4 hours. I also checked my iStat Menu and noticed that my network isnt even doing but a few kb per second. I tested with my friend over FTP with Cyber Duck a 4GB file was done in about 15 minutes so I know my bandwidth isnt the problem. We both are on M1 fibre 100mb in Singapore.
I normally dont complain about speed, but this is a real issue. Also while it was taking forever to download Burn Notice I went to my Apple TV 3 and using iCloud started to watch the Burn Notice HD (1080p) episode, when I finished the episode iTunes was still downloading and had 2 hours to go.
Where is the best place to submit this problem?
Thanks

Burn Notice Ep 7 Reunion 1080p, 1.70GB less than 3 minutes. What ever the issue was my speed is back to normal now. Have to wait until this weekend and test out the next Episode of breaking bad.

My PC with Windows 7 is very slowed since I downloaded iTunes. Could someone help me? Thank you

All purchases from the iTunes Store including free and paid apps are included in your purchase history which cannot be deleted. Deleting an app from your iTunes library on your computer or on your iPad or iOS device does not remove the app from your purchase history.
You did use iTunes to download the apps or they wouldn't be incldued in your iTunes Store purchase history.

Spotlight may be indexing your drive(s).  Click the Spotlight icon at the right of your menubar; if it shows things being indexed, that's at least some of the reason.

What you describe sounds like a hardware issue. Unfortunately, you'll need to get that checked out by Apple. If you have an Apple Store near you, make an appointment with the Genius Bar and take the machine in for evaluation.

  • Slow online video download

Extremely slow online video download on my ipod touch 5g (6.0.1)
Trouble occurs only if i'm trying to watch videos on YouTube or social network.
Speed tests show absolutly normal results.
I run some video, and after a few seconds it's download stops. I'm turning off/on the wifi toggle, and download resumes for a few seconds, and stops again.
Hope that this problem will be fixed in 6.1

I hope someone from Apple is monitoring this site. Three days apps will not update, iOS8.0. Support told me to update to iOS8.02. Can't do that over WIFI or Cell network. Supports tells me have to link to iTUNES and do this. That takes three trys. Did that. Apps still not updating. Read online that resetting network settings will help. Did that App's hanging and not updating.
Apple how does this happen. Night before iOS8.0 release you pull things because of some security issue. Then you have iOS8.01 fiasco and now this. Can someone get this right. We use these things for more than just phones now. FIX IT

  • Podcast: Subscription Download Day

Does anyone know what causes subscribed podcasts to seemingly download all at once versus at the time of invidual podcast releases? I've got many subscriptions from itunes and it would seem these should become released on the release day of the source.... Instead these come one or a few weeks later... Is it best to subscribe directly from the source, so as not be delayed and so as to unburden itunes-store which perhaps is primarily for retail sales?
In case it is expected serious podcast subsribers should know these things, much betteer than i do, where is the source of information specifically describing "most efficient podcast subscription method".
Another oddity deserving more elucidation is that subscribed podcasts sometimes are not received at all-- Instead one sees that podcasts are suddenly available, in grey writing with an accompanying "get" button. These have lost the automatic download function.
    Insights welcomed

RE: " I may, however, be misunderstanding the point of your second paragraph, however, as it is somewhat unclear."
Thanks for pointing towards clarity, as i too seek clarity. The point then, of giving a live example is to discover why a show-producer would tend to be a week or more ahead of itunes podcast list for that same show-release-date. The reason to ask a public forum is see if there is a missing check box to use, or something missed by the questioner (me). I happened to have previously checked "Settings/ Every Day" so finally today i have changed this to "Settings/ Every Hour". . . See if that improves downloads in the coming days. Give it time to gel.
My given-example-show is not unique in download timing -- Seemingly it is each and every subscription, of my dozen (or so) subscriptions, which seem to follow this pattern of suddenly downloading all at one moment. So, it appears that conventions might have slowed down particular availabilities. The new-world-culture of downloading audio-shows is still developing. It is my hope that a forward-positioning company like Apple, might consider ways to improve on automating downloads generally-- Perhaps some wizard software that is especially adept at assisting Apple-Product-buyers, to take advantage of multi-cultural downloads. Have itunes more aggressively absorb subscriptions, even if a flag or tag or whatnot is missing. Like many, i have long continued to buy from Apple, to avoid fussing with "extra steps". The same point really, that you raised Meg! SO thanks again, Bo

  • Slow Speeds Trouble Downloading Files via Software Update (more)

I completed an OS update from 10.4.11 to 10.5 Leopard. I now have a bunch of problems. We have gone through all our settings from 10.4.11 and all are correct.
    1. Slow web page access with 10.5
    2. Very erratic downloading from Software Update and from the web. Email transfers are fine. Odd.
    3. No longer able to port forward from Airport. I do the port forward but can't access my home server from outside our private network. Some times that does not even work.
    4. We have tried Web Sharing , Abyss Web server, and our normal Server MAMP. None work outside the private network.
    5. All server functions have worked flawless since OS X originally came out.
    6. Nothing changed before our switch to Leopard.
    7. We still have two computers using 10.4.11 and they can download lickity split with no hickups.
    8. I am at my wits end on this issue and after all our testing feel it is a Leopard issue and nothing else.
    9. My service provider has stated that others that upgraded to Leopard are having problems too. Seems like this should be looked into post hast from Apple.
    10. Sorry to say but I must revert back to my last OS and reinstall and re-upgrade to 10.4.11 and try to make my stuff work again.
    11. I have tried starting yesterday afternoon to download the newest update for Leopard and I have only been able to get 355MB from a total of 536MB download. The down load just chokes up and quits after a few megs and then I must try to restart the download and it may go 20 megs then choke or may not even go. I do this a few times until I get movement and then it will choke again. I keep doing this again and again. It is consistent with Leopard.
    12. I even did a complete pure clean install and the problem still persists.
    13. Come on Apple, get with it and get this problem fixed. Folks will move away from Leopard in droves if you don't move on this one.
    Pete

    Hi
The SUS Admin Manual is clear on what format the SUS Service can use and it can't use manually downloaded dmgs. Furthermore AFAIK there is no way (if there is ever likely to be) you can convert downloaded dmgs of Updates to a format SUS can recognise and more importantly use.
You should consider purchasing ARD and use that to 'push' out manually downloaded updates instead. You can purchase ARD from the App Store.

  • Slow file server download speeds

I have a Mac OS X 10.3 Server on my local network, which is primarily used as a file server.
My MacBook, running 10.6.7, using AirPort Extreme, is painfully slow and downloading files from this file server. Right now, it is estimating 14 hours to download a 400 MB file. The computer itself is only a few feet from the Airport base station.
    Other clues:
    1) All other Airport services seem normal (internet access, internet downloading) for this computer; so I don't see how it can be the Airport itself.
    2) Uploading files to this file server seem to be running at normal speeds.
    3) Downloading from other computers (running 10.5.8) from the file server are normal speeds, so I would think that would rule out the file server itself.
    4) Activity Monitor shows only around 8 - 17 KB per second transfer
I believe that this problem started after the last OS update. Or security update, whichever it was.

Just wanted to post that I solved the problem.
It had to do with using the Motorola MSTATEA 2210-02-1022 DSL Modem/Router that we received from AT&T to do our Routing instead of the Time Capsule we had on our network.  I thought the Motorola DSL Modem/Router would do a better job of routing and was WRONG.
Once I put the Motorola DSL Motem/Router into "bridge mode" and set up the Time Capsule to be the router for the network, the problem went away.
So the Motorola DSL Modem/Router could not handle even the low traffic of our few computer network without screwing up the wireless traffic.

  • Slow and episodic downloads, frequent timeouts

    Here's my setup:
I have a 8Mb/s broadband service from TalkTalk (in the UK) which I access over wireless. Speedtest shows an upload speed of 4.8Mb/s. My Netgear modem reports that it is connected at 5.5Mb/s.
    Leopard 10.5.4
    iMac G5
    Airport Extreme
    Airport Express (as an extender)
    Netgear DG814
I am running the latest firmware.
    Here's my problem:
Downloads of files via Software Update or other sources are very slow and often fail. I rarely get more than 18Kbit/s reported during downloads. Looking at the monitor, downloads seem to be very episodic: there will be a second or so of download activity and then a pause before the next wave of download activity.
Is this episodic download pattern normal? Any advice on what I can do to improve my download speed is very welcome.

Looks like my problem was the DG814 Netgear router. I replaced it with a DG834 and my surfing experience has been transformed.

  • Slow ATV when downloading YouTube vids, Podcasts, etc.

Loved my ATV in version 1. After software update to 2.02 ATV now takes a considerable amount of time to download or view any YouTube video, Video podcasts or rented movies from iTunes. Was wondering if anyone had a solution.
Here is what I have done:
On version 1.0 my ATV download and play response time was quick (within 5 seconds I was watching the video clip. If I remember correctly there were two updates to the ATV. When the 2.0 update came out my ATV was still speedy, however, recently after the 2.0 update, the last update came out and that caused all response to be slowwwwwww. It takes about 2-3 minutes for a YouTube video to play or a video Podcast from iTunes, or a movie trailer. (I have a Netgear n/g router with the ATV on the N and PCs on G)
I use my ATV as a standalone device on the network...I rent and download everything from the ATV interface. Recently I did a factory reset back to version 1.0 and the speed was fine. Upgraded the ATV to the lastest version and everything is slowwwww again.
I did another restore back to 1.0 and am stuck there. I want to have the new 2.0 interface, but the speed of use is ridiculously slowwwwwwwww. Does anyone have any tips? Have you experienced this?
If you have any solutions or know where I can get my hands on installing the 2.0 version of the software please let me know.
    Thanks!
    Christine

Just wanted to update my earlier message...I did update to the latest version of ATV 2.1. The slowness started in 2.1 not 2.02. That version still had the Apple TV running at good speeds! ATV 2.1 is when the problems started...

  • I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 bought in 2010.  My computer is super slow uploading and downloading stuff all of a sudden so is there any way of speeding it up again?

I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 bought in 2010.  When uploading and downloading stuff my computer is all of a sudden slower than usual.  The rainbow disc is always appearing and I have to sit and wait for items to finally pop up!  Can someone help me figure out how to speed up my computer again?  I am just confused to why this is happening all of a sudden.  Thank you.

Usually the HDD is the frist place to look.  Use the original install disk and start up the MBP with the C key down.  Go through the installation process until you see on the display a menu bar on top.
    Click on UTILITIES.
From the drop down menu select Disk Utility.
Open Disk Utility>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.
    What are the results?

  • Slow connection for downloading dot-dmg file

Have 20-inch iMac G5 with Tiger OS. I had wanted to download a 30-day free trial of Stuffit Deluxe so that I can compress several 5MB jpgs into a smaller file; something easy to transmit by email as attachment. The download time for less than 200 MB was more than ten days. My download bit rate was 0.5 kbits/second. Is this a typical sign of "old age" for the internal wireless?
Using Safari, the icon to indicate downloading keeps moving for as long as 10 seconds. This download speed seems to be unrealistically slow. Is it time to take it in for an overhaul? XBW

    I had wanted to download a 30-day free trial of Stuffit Deluxe so that I can compress several 5MB jpgs into a smaller file;
    Don't waste your time.
jpegs are already compressed. Stuffit won't compres them much if at all.
Besides, you don't need stuffit to compress files.
You can right click - Create Archive to compress it.
If you are using iPhoto or Mail, you can automatically resize photos for email.
