Slow website responses from flash intensive sites on guest wireless

We are in the process of implementing Cisco ISE along with guest wireless.  The guests are pulling their addresses from a WLCE 5508.  Their DNS is coming from external servers, i.e. google dns.  When we log on a tablet, phone or laptop  to the guest wifi we are redirected to the auth page and then are allowed to surf.
The issue is that going to flash intensive sites such as www.cnn.com, www.espn.com, etc. the pages take 30 seconds to a minute to load, it's not a gradual load it loads all at once.  If I goto a site such as google.com, cisco.com the page loads immediately.  Speed tests show that we have plenty of bandwidth.  It reminds me of an MTU issue I used to see on Cisco 1700 routers.  If I changed the pc mtu the problem would go away.
Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

I have a few clients that anchor guest traffic from their remote site all over the USA back to one of their DC. I haven't heard any complaints or concerns from them. The links vary in bandwidth. The only thing is different than what you have is that they are not using the anchor WLC as a dhcp. I have had many issues in the past using the WLC in large environments that I don't recommend it. Many of my customer also have redundant guest anchors but only a few would have a dedicated internet for guest. The others share the same internet pipe.

  • Slow or no response from flash applications and videos?

    Everytime i try to play a video from youtube, the sound is good, and the video loads at a relatively hgh speed, but the picture quality is awful and it doesn't even show, just freezes and shows different bits of the video from time to time. And when i try to pay games like Zynga Texas Holdem on Facebook and such, the games don't load and require me to have a newer version of Adobe, or are very slow to respond to different commands. I have checked my software updates and my computer is up to date, nothing to upgrade. I need help becasue i don't know if its just because its an old version of iMac (Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger), or because i need some better programs to run my stuff.
    Thanks in Advance.

    You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

    Look for the fp10.1.102.64_and_9.0.289.0archive folder, open it, look for the Flash Player 10.1.102.64 folder & open and look for 101r10264 folder & open it, double click on the flashplayer101r102_64_ubmac.dmg file, choose the Install Adobe Flash Player file to install... they don't make it easy!

  • Even after installation, no response from Flash

    I have downloaded and successfully installed Flash 10. No messages of error appeared. I went to watch a YouTube video but was not able to. The same message appeared on YouTube that I needed an updated version of Flash. So I restarted the computer, changed the ActiveX security settings and even downloaded the new Flash 10.1 version. There are no error messages, I just can't do anything that requires Flash.

    Hi, You may have only needed to check if the Shockwave Flash Object was installed and enabled. The 10.1 is the prerelease version most likely RC7 unless that has been updated to RC8. It is different than the latest shipped version which is 10.0.45.2.
    You can't Install Flash10 version 10.0.45.2 until you Uninstall the 10.1 with a special Uninstaller. Go to this site and page down until you find Uninstallers.
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html
    From Tools>Internet Options, under the Security Tab, setting the Internet Zone to Medium is what is recommended.

  • Slow report response from Portlet Analyze link

    Hi,
    We make a lot of use of Oracle Portal Discoverer portlets. We are noticing that it takes a long time for reports to respond when the Analyze link is selected in a Discoverer portlet. There seems to be a few seconds delay before the anything happens then the Viewer Query progress page appears and sits for a few seconds before the actual query is run. The time taken to run the SQL on the server seems to be a small fraction of the total response time.
    We are using OracleBI Discoverer Version 10.1.2.54.25 with Oracle Application Server Portal Release 2 (10.1.2) on Solaris. Has anyone else experienced similar performance issues? Are there any suggestions for where to look to improve the response times?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

    Hi,
    Do you have the query prediction enable?
    Take a look at the pref.txt file (path: $ORACLE_HOME/discoverer/util/) at the value of
    QPPEnable
    To disable it change the default ( 1 ) to 0
    after editing the pref.txt file you'll need to run the applypreferences program (same path).
    You can disable it so that it will save you time while running a worksheet.

  • SQL Slow Response from remote DB

    I have two sites of which I am executing SQL querys and updates to an Oracle DB. Both sites have the identical code. I am querying against an Oracle 9.0.2 DB. I have tried using both the 8i JDBC Driver and the 9i JDBC Driver. At one site which is closer to the DB site the response is 10 times as fast as the response from my second site. I've had the network administrators to test the network between sites for packet latency. The results were 40ms to pass packets between sites. Traceroute also showed the same response times. I have employed Oracle's assistance with tuning the database optimally. This has not improve the response time. I thought that the problem might be with my SQL so I created the following simple test and the response times were the same. Any thoughts as to were the problem might lie? Your help is much appreciated.
    Site 1 response time: 4ms
    Site 2 response time: 137ms
    CODE:
    try{
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    con=DriverManager.getConnection(url,name,pw);
    if(con!=null){
    System.out.println("Got Connection");
    Statement s = con.createStatement();
    long begintime = System.currentTimeMillis();
    int bt = (int)begintime;
    ResultSet rs = s.executeQuery("select sysdate from dual");
    long endtime = System.currentTimeMillis();
    int et = (int)endtime;
    rs.next();
    Time t = rs.getTime("sysdate");
    System.out.println("Time: " + t.toString());
    System.out.println("Time to Retrieve Records: "+ (endtime - begintime) + "ms");
    rs.close();
    con.close();
    catch(SQLException sql){
    System.err.println("SQL Error: " + sql.getMessage());
    sql.printStackTrace();
    catch(ClassNotFoundException cnfe){
    System.err.println("SQL Error: " + cnfe.getMessage());

    If it was me I would write a client server socket tester and run it on both machines. And do some tests that run individual and burst transmissions throughout the day. You could do the same thing without code by manually FTP'ing some large files between the systems. But that will have more of a real impact on the system however.
    A simple trace route is only going to show a problem if it exists at a particular point in time.

  • My iMac (2009) slows down after I go to sites that are memory intensive

    I have noticed my computer slows down to a crawl after I use sites that I believe are memory intensive.  Example of that is iFirstrowSports.eu (streams soccer games live).  The latest one was Wix where my wife was building her web site using their html5 tools.
    I have also noticed that when the system is running slow, not all websites run as slow as others.  Fro example abola.pt is very slow, while yahoo.com or yahoo mail will be slow but not horrible.  I am wondering if it has to do with how those sites use memory or the technology they leverage.
    I went to EtrCheck and run a report.  Note that this report was done when the system is performing well.
    I would appreciate some help and advice.
    Thanks

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Can't I stop the HOG Flash from Firefox? I use FlashBlock but a constant fight. Often both cores maxed at 100%,laptop very slow until I kill Flash in Tsk Mangr

    Flash is the problem. It often maxes both cores of my dual core processor and brings processing virtually to a halt.
    Originally, I killed flash in Task Manager whenever i heard my fan come on and also noticed slow system response. This was very distracting and took a lot of time.
    Then I installed FlashBlock, but it doesn't stop Flash unless you tell it for each and every website.
    When reading news, and opening a link, I will hear the fan start, so i click the block button/icon in Firefox to block the site from using flash. Some sites don't launch with the FlashBlock icon. I have to use the manual kill option for them. This extremely frustrating. I understand why Steve Jobs hated Flash.
    I don't like Apple's money-sucking wallet-leach behavior, so I use WinTel and live with the frustrations of which this is the biggest. HTML5 supposedly is the solution, but site builders use flash.
    FireFox needs a flash control switch built in the browser to give control of Flash - block/ask, etc. functionality.

    By the way, Firefox does have a Click-to-Play feature you can use for Flash. That will delay Flash from starting on a page until you approve it. However, the approval is per site, I believe, so you may need an add-on to control it per page.
    To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
    When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
    Not a solution, but hopefully will help a bit.

  • Response from Tomcat Server slow and Invariable to JSP

    Hello,
    I have developed an application which is an INTRANET PORTAL in advanced java. My database is MySQL and Server is Tomcat V5.5
    The problem is server response is very slow and sometimes it stops responding, also when I try accessing it from remote machine I don't get response from my server.
    Please help...
    Thank and Regards

    since you posted to web server forum, i have to also add that web server 7 bundles a tomcat like web container within and can be used for your web serving needs. you can download web server 7 from http://www.sun.com/webserver

    Go into Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari and turn it off. Then add the MacGruff browser from the app store. After that go back to Restrictions and turn off the ability to add apps.

    I can grasp the simple concepts of what these messages mean, but, I have not idea, what the data with all these long chains of numbers mean.
    But, I do understand, that the flow through the ethernet is not at top speeds. And I do understad that the word, Debug, means bad.
    So, I'm sure I will have to go into the shop, and have their team run diagnostics, and find out why these, systems, are slow and not getting the Optimum connections to my Internes services, And tell me why the Gateway is open, Unsafe.
    Thanks.

    Sorry to hear about the issues you've been having. Hard drives do sometimes fail, and it really isn't a fun experience when it does. I don't work for Apple, but I'm a certified tech that like others has access to the warranty repair system and I know how it works. Normally we get all parts very quickly, but there are some cases where backorders and incorrect repairs are inputted which slow things down.
    Apple actually does read the forums and responds to them as well. I have several friends who do just that. I would suggest to the repair center that they try the "mark for review" checkbox because this shouldn't be taking this long and it will get a repair advisor's attention to find what's delaying it. Hopefully it'll be resolved shortly.

  • New OIF installation - Very slow response from OHS

    Hi,
    I've installed two instances of OIF 10.1.4.0.1 in order to create a test configuration to test XASP Attribute Sharing (i.e., we are not doing any other profiles).
    Both OIF instances are using a separate instance of Sun Directory Server as its User Data Store, and both are using in-memory for Transient Data Store and have no Federation Data Store. Both OIF instances were installed similarly, using the "BASIC" installation choices, and are running on separate Redhat Linux servers.
    The problem that we're seeing is very slow (10+ seconds to 30+ seconds) responses, even when we try to access a static HTML test page that we've placed in the OHS htdocs directory.
    We've eliminated any networking problems as possibilities by a couple of tests that we've done, including shutting down the OHS and running a small, different test web server listening on port 7777. When we do that, response time for requests from that web server is almost instantaneous.
    We are also seeing the same slow response when we try to access the test HTML page from the same server itself.
    We have an SR open with Oracle, but so far, we've not been able to identify what the problem might be, so I'm hoping that perhaps someone else may have encountered this problem and have a resolution.
    It is really puzzling because, as I said, this is a pretty vanilla default OIF installation, and it is doubly puzzling because even getting a tiny static HTML page is taking 10+ seconds. Also, I had installed OIF 10.1.4.0.1 on a Windows machine previously, and I don't see this problem on that earlier installation.
    If anyone here has any insight into this problem, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,
    I think I was able to temporarily eliminate this slow response problem. I think that the slow response problem is related to another problem that I posted about in the "Application Server - General" forum (see below, and Port 7200 conflict?

    What I did was to just comment out the "include" line for "dms.conf" in the Apache httpd.conf.
    Doing that got rid of the "Address already in use" errors I was seeing in Apache error_log and also eliminated the slow response I was seeing from Apache/OHS (see that other post in "Identity Management" forum), BUT I am getting new errors about Apache not being able to find "htdocs/dms/Spy0".
    I have the impression that dms is some kind of process monitoring system that Oracle has in 10gAS infrastructure? So, I have some questions:
    1) What's the effect of dms not working?
    2) Is it possible to just disable dms?
    I hope that Oracle support can come up with a "real" fix for both problems, but in the meantime, as long as what I did doesn't break anything else besides dms, we can at least test the OIF stuff.

  • Slow Response from the server

    It seems that after 1 - 1:30 hrs after the server start the response from app server
    (weblogic 5.1 here) is very very slow. This remains as it is until we stop and
    restart the server..But again after the same period of time the problem continues
    and the server tends to respond slowly.Where could be the problem? If you can
    let us know the underlying problem, it would be great.

    the heap usage reach 100% and the drop off suddenly. If this is the
    case, consider increasing your heap, if that isnt an option.. Try
    checking your code to make sure everything that is called is
    destroyed.
    That may help... If not it could be JDBC,other connectivity, or code.
    But try that 1st and let me know.

    Ideally i should have output at every one second, but it shows at every 2 seconds. Even i have tried to increase the interval but still i see it takes extra 1 sec. to give output.
    These are the pretty newly configured Machine, do you think something to do with server perf./config/ etc ? Does this impacts perf. to my running workload on this machine ?

    Well, you could simply have a gigazillion fonts on your system that mess with the text engine. in that case some serious weeding out of fonts that you never use would help immensely. Otherwise you can always turn off hardware acceleration in the preferences, assuming the issue is related to that...

    Hi Traci,
    To push the site live, you will need to:
    Publish a trial site on BC (File menu> Publish)
    Then, go to the admin dashboard of your site and the launch the site live by paying for it or redeeming a free site.
    Add domain to the site
    Change name-servers at domain registrar
    For steps 3 and 4, kindly refer to the following link:
