Slow website

I just published my website using my .mac account. It was created in iWeb, after having many people view and critique it, the main comment I am getting is how slow it is loading. Does anyone have any input? The site is
www.garonephotography.com (I have a forwarder setup so it goes directly to my .mac page)
I'd love some feedback so i can fix this problem ASAP.
Thanks

It's not particularly slow, though I can see where you might want some improved loading times. The meat of your webpages is in the images. And each image on your page seems to be in the 200-400kb range, which can take a couple seconds longer than anything else on your page to load. I also notice that you like to use the reflection effect on your images. This is fine, but it generally causes iWeb to convert your jpgs into slightly larger PNGs.
Are you resizing your images at all inside iWeb? I mean, once you get your images into iWeb, do you use them at their native size? To see what this would be like, select one of your images in iWeb and then open the Inspector to the Metrics tab. Click on "Use original size" and see what the real size of your image is. If you were to use your jpgs at their original size and not apply any other effects to them, then iWeb would not convert them to the larger PNGs. This means that you will have to process your images BEFORE bringing them into iWeb.
The reflection effect seems to be an exception to the rule... if you use your jpgs at their original size, then apply the reflection... iWeb will generate a separate image for the reflection instead of converting the entire graphic, which saves on file size. But any other effect like adding a frame or drop shadow will cause your jpgs to be converted to PNGs...and the result is usually a bigger file size.

  • Slow website loading

How do I improve response time for loading websites on Ipad 2?  It is operating very slow.

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Slow website loading time.

ok here's the problem, some websites for me take a really long time for me to load for some reason such as roosterteeth or at times myspace, when i try to load them up on firefox it says that it's loading 'google-analytics' and some other crap like that and it takes forever! and i just tried loading them on my mom's computer and they load near instantaneously so i was wondering what the **** is wrong with my machine?! and i would be very grateful if anyone could help me.

    Try this:
The following usually works on both Tiger and Leopard:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
If not, MacFixit have published a very detailed (very!) article on speeding up a slow Safari, here:
    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070416000657464
Many, including me, have also followed the advice given by others here to add DNS codes to their Network Settings, with good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.

  • Terribly Slow Website

Using a high end gaming laptop, 50 download, 10 upload. Mozilla firefox. Im trying to fix my girlfreinds HP laptop, but cant access the website at all,
loading pages gives me internal server erros, or time out, and if it does work it takes dial-up era speeds.

It would really help us if you clarified what "the website" actually is!!!

  • Slow website responses from flash intensive sites on guest wireless

We are in the process of implementing Cisco ISE along with guest wireless.  The guests are pulling their addresses from a WLCE 5508.  Their DNS is coming from external servers, i.e. google dns.  When we log on a tablet, phone or laptop  to the guest wifi we are redirected to the auth page and then are allowed to surf.
The issue is that going to flash intensive sites such as www.cnn.com, www.espn.com, etc. the pages take 30 seconds to a minute to load, it's not a gradual load it loads all at once.  If I goto a site such as google.com, cisco.com the page loads immediately.  Speed tests show that we have plenty of bandwidth.  It reminds me of an MTU issue I used to see on Cisco 1700 routers.  If I changed the pc mtu the problem would go away.
    Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

I have a few clients that anchor guest traffic from their remote site all over the USA back to one of their DC. I haven't heard any complaints or concerns from them. The links vary in bandwidth. The only thing is different than what you have is that they are not using the anchor WLC as a dhcp. I have had many issues in the past using the WLC in large environments that I don't recommend it. Many of my customer also have redundant guest anchors but only a few would have a dedicated internet for guest. The others share the same internet pipe.

  • Ipad Air & Ipad mini very slow loading websites

    Hi all
Im experiencing very slow website loading issues on my Ipad air and my daughters Ipad mini retina. When this occurs the devices even stop loading the site completely. When i open the same site on iPhones 4s or iMac it loads instantly,  WiFi is provided by 2 AirPort express stations, since iPhone & Imac load instantantly.  During these issues speedtests on both Ipads are showing download speeds in the range of  44 mb/s. All of this leads me to believe there's nothing wrong with WiFi signal.
All mobile devices are running on IOS 7.1, loading apps is no issue, just loading sites is giving the problem
Any help or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated
    Kris

That's weird. Have you tried to reset the network settings on them?
Go to Settings > General > Scroll to bottom and Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try and see if that helps.  You'll need to put your passwords back in but it may help

  • Since I updated to os X 10.8.4 Safari is very slow and crashes

I just updated to os X 10.8.4, and since then safari 6.0.5 is very slow, websites like youtube take forever to load, and I have problems opening new tabs.
I hope someone can help me.
P.S. Sorry for my english, not my first language.

Do you get a notice that Safari has quit unexpectedly? If so, please do the following.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Why is page in Dashboard now displaying a different website? Hijacked?

I've been using the feature to display webpages in Dashboard, however one of these widigts is now displaying a completely different website (one i have NEVER visited). When i click on it the amazon page displays for a split second, then it defaults back to the anomalous page - as far as i can see a company called network solutions that says if i do not own the domain name, do i want to backorder it !?

There might be images and content on silkenfest.com which are stored on webpagescreenshot.info, so it needs to connect to silkenfest along with the other website in order to load the main website and its images. silkenfest.com is just a slow website and it probably has nothing to do with webpagescreenshot.info. The same thing appears on my screen when I load the website. When you visit websites, a lot of other websites actually load in the background. For example, if you visited YouTube.com, it would also connect to ytimg.com to load the video thumbnails since they are stored on there and google.com because YouTube uses Google Accounts.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Some sites slow

It started yesterday morning. It takes me 4-5 minutes to access some sites I regularly access in seconds. I can't do a search to find if anyone else is experiencing this because it took me several minutes to get in here tonight. I can get on some sites normally - meaning within seconds, but several sites I've used for years now time out or come up sooooo slowly that it's not worth waiting. This Apple Discussions is one of them. I have no clue what is happening. I verified and repaired permissions. Nothing helped. Husband's computer (G4 and Tiger) is not having the same problem. We're on cable high speed. This has been frustrating to say the least. As I said just SOME regular sites and not all of them. Nooooooo, I haven't downloaded anything and am very cautious anyway. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as it is slower than dial up used to be! TIA

If it's some sites, it's most likely your ISP or your ISP's DNSs. Unless you have some kind of "web-nanny" or parental controls turned on, there is nothing in Leopard that is site specific.
Try this to check it out
Open the network utility app in Utilities and select Ping.
Enter the name of one of the "slow" sites and ping it.
Note two things - the time in ms at the end of each line, and also write down the actual URL number (known at the dotted-quad) which is the actual/real address of the website.
For example, I ping google's website and get this:
    Ping has started ...
    PING google.com (64.233.187.99): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 64.233.187.99: icmp_seq=0 ttl=243 time=46.742 ms
    64 bytes from 64.233.187.99: icmp_seq=1 ttl=243 time=46.382 ms
    64 bytes from 64.233.187.99: icmp_seq=2 ttl=243 time=46.993 ms
    64 bytes from 64.233.187.99: icmp_seq=3 ttl=243 time=48.328 ms
    64 bytes from 64.233.187.99: icmp_seq=4 ttl=243 time=47.638 ms
Now enter in the name of one of the faster sites and do the same thing. Compare the times.
Lastly to confirm that the problem is from your ISP, take the dotted-quad you get from your slow website (in my case it's 64.233.187.99) and enter that directly into your browser. This way you bypass the DNS. Again in my case I entered 64.233.187.99 and the browser turned it into
http://64.233.187.99/ which is fine. But it's google.com just the same but much faster.
If this gets you to a slow site much more quickly, then it definitely is your ISP.
If this works, then you should consider changing DNS servers to those offered free from
    http://www.opendns.com/

  • Time Capsule Wi-Fi slows down over time

    Hi,
My Time Capsule 2 TB (running firmware 7.4.2, which is the latest version for my model Time Capsule) has an annoying habit of running slower and slower over time, eventually requiring a restart...
It becomes worse and worse gradually. At some point, transfer rates get very slow, websites take ages to load, connections even start to drop... and that's when people connected to my network start asking: "What the %($) is going on?". I then restart the Time Capsule, and everything is back to normal (for a while).
This repeats about once every month. I'm not satisfied with one month of continuous uptime on a Wi-Fi base station... I'm used to such devices running for a year or two before they may eventually require a reboot.
Has anyone else had this problem? Should I try to exchange the Time Capsule for the new model (running firmware 7.5.1)? It seems like Apple isn't planning to release a firmware update for the older model, even though it's still under warranty and obviously has a few glitches...
    Tim

I've got this exact same problem with the older Time Capsule. Mine drops to around 10% of the original speed over time. Mine requires a reboot too.
I was thinking of buying a new one, thanks for saving my money.

  • IPod not seen by windows or iTunes post update.

I hate to be beating a dead horse. I have just read pages and pages of this BS. I had not updated it for months, because I have been way to busy. I added songs as recently as june 6th. I update today and poof no iPod?
As I read down the other massive numbers of posts, I noticed no answer or resolve at that time?
I am wondering if a definative answer actually ever occured. Since they locked that one up and threw away the key I had to start a new one here.
    Thanks,
    Rick
P.S. - yes I have followed all the Apple troubleshooting tips and those found in the posts.

I must say, for people running out to get anew iphone seems quite a bit ridiculous, considering Apple can't get this issue straightened out.
Consider the following, there are literally hundred of thousands of posts on the internet reguarding this major issue. No clear answer or resolution?
Even after: doing the 5 R's, and everything else Apple has listed, nothing works. Then moving on to microsoft for an answer that was linked on the Apple website, that fails to work. Apple passing the buck to microsoft, then microsoft has links passing the buck to Apple.
The fact is Apple made it, it should work. Hard to beleive this is a state of the art company, that has used quauntum physics to help develop their chips and other resale to have a mishap like this one.
In additon, a major company like this should not have a hiddiously slow website that is competition for the snail and Medussa herself.

  • Problem with Adobe Help in Creative Cloud

I'm using Mac OSX 10.9 but this problem has been here before that.
My Adobe Help application says "No Adobe Products are currently installed." which is completely wrong. If I look at the "Local Content tab there is nothing displayed. I did have the "Display Local Help Content only" set to "yes, because it annoyed me to be taken to SLOW website whenever I clicked help. But now I have no other options and it seems to have mucked uo the help system altogether. I have changed it to "No" now so that it will display online content, but the real problem is that it does not recognise ANY of the installed CC applications.
Any clues as to what the problem is or how I can make Adobe Help recognise my installed applications? Adobe Help has SUCKED BADLY for local help content for a long now.

i too have issues with the help the tech sopport for Adobe. When i last tried to call i was told it would be a hour wait. Using the online chat was useless as well. Then to top things off my code for the ID theft monitering servies is not valid. Now i have to call and deal with that, there is another half a day wasted. I think its time to hack the software, YES adobe i have the .DLL files needed to have creative cloud or windows 7. Unless i get better help im going to cancle my subscription and just intall the hacks so the software still works. who needs support they are useless anyway.
