It seems that people experience slow wifi on iphone with IOS 6 under slightly different circumstances.
Some have slow/choppy video streaming, some have problems with large dropbox files, some with app store and some with podcasts.
    Which is your problem AdeelRasheed?
Me personally, I have download speed when on wifi.
    But only when downloading podcasts...
    Running 6.0.1 or 6.1 on iPhone 5, iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
On WIFI I can download a 45 mb app from the appstore in less than a minute. I can stream Youtube and Netflix with no problems. Internet browsing - no problems.
But downloading podcasts with Instacast 3, Downcast or the Apple Podcast app happens at a rate of 20-80 kb/s when on WIFI. As soon as I switch to 3g ( 4g/LTE is not yet available from my local provider) my download speed goes to between 300kb/s and 2 mb/s.
    Anyone else have this problem?

  • FIX - slow wifi on iPhone 6 iOS 8.0.2

ive had a problem with my wifi since I bought the iphone 6. I get good speeds for a time, then it drops off and gets slow again. Tried resetting anything and everything. Then I did this: went to my browser, typed in "what's my ip", copied my ip address and pasted in my address bar. Logged into my Verizon acct. the user name should be admin and the password should be a mix of letters and numbers on your router, unless you've changed these user names and passwords. Once logged in I went to advanced wireless settings and changed my security settings from WEP to WPA2 and reset my password to a 16 digit key. Save the settings and log out. Then since I have a pc I changed the settings on my wifi to match the settings I just changed. Then I went into my iPhone's settings < general < reset < reset network settings. and that's it. Been doing speed tests and it been working fine. Hope this helps yall.

What was the result by going to the Apple Genius Bar ?
    Our experience with iPhone 6:
Very slow wifi on iPhone 6 on several different wifi networks, home and work and others. Cannot be a WEP-WPA2 issue, must be an iPhone6 issue. Also have experienced 6 Mbps recently and 22 Mbps last month, seems to be variable and getting worse.
PS- iPhone 5 on very same home network gave 57 Mbps when iPhone  6 gave 6 Mbps !

  • Slow WiFi on iPhone 6

I have a new iPhone 6, an iPad Air, iPad 4, iPhone 5S. They are all running iOS 8. The iPhone 5s and the iPad 4 have very speedy WiFi (90-100mbps). The iPhone 6 gets about 9mbps down. I read a bit about this and reset the network settings yesterday and it improved. After turning it on today, it's back to being slow. It doesn't drop the connection but being ten times slower than the older devices I have is puzzling.
After the update to iOS 8 on my iPad Air, it too had this problem but I reset network connections and it is still quite good. I wonder if this is a software or hardware problem and if anyone else is experiencing slow WiFi on the iPhone 6. The LTE on AT&T is quite good 60-70 down, 20+ up. Thanks.

How do you reset the network connections?  Is it on the phone?  My phone can't see the wifi at all - though it is 1 foot away.  A hard reset lets it see it agaian - sometimes.

  • Slow wifi in iPhone 5s after upgraded to iOS 8

I Have upgraded my iPhone 5s recently but my wifi becomes drastically slow i tried to solve this problem by resetting the networking and by turning off the location services of networking but it remains for a while after that a spinning wheel comes and everything becomes as it was plz answer it immediately I really cant check my Facebook properly

Before trying a restore, you could download this app: https://itunes.apple.com/app/speedtest-net-mobile-speed/id300704847?mt=8
Do a few speed tests between 2/5 min. This will clarify if your iPhone is getting a good speed (aside your on screen signal).

  • Slow Wifi on 4 IOS products

I have 3 iPhones (4,4S,5) and two iPads in the family.
I am noticing that all off them became REALLY slow on WIFI. (646 kbit/s on 16000 DSL).
    This is definitly new.
    IOS version is 6.1.3.
Restart of router, devices did not help.
My Imac shows 13.000 kbit/s over LAN and WIFI. So it can't be the provider or WLAN.

i tried reset my network settings and all settings also and nothing changed it . about the router its not only with my router but its with all wifi networks !! i really dont want to upgrade to ios 7 coz its bright and full of crap android stuff !!

  • How to solve the SLOW wifi connection on iOS 8?

Recently I have started to have problems with my Wi-Fi connection on my iPhone 4S - iOS 8.0.2
This problem started 3 days ago or less, before, my Wi-Fi connection on my iPhone was PERFECT! Now it is soooooo slow, even slower than my 3G connection...
What can I do to solve this? I haven't dropped it or nothing, the problem just appeared from nowhere.
    Help

Have either of you tried a Reset Settings yet? (Settings App -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings NOT Erase All Content and Settings.) You could also try just the "Reset Network Settings" first too. Resetting settings will purge your lock screen and wallpaper, and probably some other things that will be annoying for a bit (like turning back on the keyboard clicking sound,) but it seemed to help my problems.
I work on iPhone problems all day (mostly backup and restore right now), so I collect a lot of the debugging logs. I saw a lot of networking error garbage on my 5S right after upgrading from iOS7 that was vastly reduced after doing a reset all settings (I wish I would have tried just Reset Network Settings first, so I knew if that worked alone.)
If that still doesn't help, I would love to take a look at your phone debug logs (like I said, I do iPhone troubleshooting all day, so investigating and hopefully fixing a serious problem sounds exciting to me ) If you want, you can contact me through my company's webpage: http://deciphertools.com/support.html and we can start looking at what kind of errors are happening while the wifi is acting up. You can mention my name directly, Kelly, so you know the message gets to me!  (This is an open invitation to anyone having serious wifi problems after the update, not just mendoSYK and tragic330.)
(Note: As I mentioned, the link I am posting is to my company's website. So, I stand to benefit, financially or otherwise, from the link I am providing.)

  • Extremely slow Wifi on iPhone 3GS

Since upgrading from the iPhone 3G to a 3GS I've come to realise that the wifi performance is very poor compared to earlier models.
I am talking about measured speed, rather than signal performance, for signal performance the 3GS actually seems slightly better than my 3G - eg it will connect to a base station from further away than the 3G, but when both are in range the 3GS is MUCH slower.
Using the speedtest.net app on a 16Mbit ADSL2+ connection (which gives a measured performance of 14.5Mbit on a Macbook pro on the SAME wifi network) I get the following results:
    iPod Touch 1st Gen:
    Download: 7448 kbps
    Upload: 923 kbps
    iPhone 3G:
    Download: 5938 kbps
    Upload: 859 kbps
    iPhone 3GS:
    Download: 1029 kbps
    Upload: 316 kbps
Clearly a big descrepancy here, with the iPod Touch almost 6 times faster in throughput, and the iPhone 3G not far behind.
This is on an 802.11g network using a netgear router and WPA-PSK, but I have also tried an Airport Express with no significant change.
Is anyone else noticing this problem ?
    Regards,
    Simon

No, it's definately connected to wifi, besides, I'm not on AT&T as I'm not in the USA
I've tested it in airplane mode as well to be sure it really is connecting by wifi.
The way I see it, it's either a hardware fault in my specific phone, or a driver/firmware issue in the 3GS - one of the things that changed from the 3G to the 3GS is that there is a different wifi chipset, and it may be that the drivers are still immature.
    Waiting patiently on 3.1....
    Regards,
    Simon

  • Any news on ios 8.0.3 update? Been waiting for it coz of my slow wifi connection after i updated my iphone 5s to ios 8.

Any news on ios 8.0.3 update? Been waiting for it coz of my slow wifi connection after i updated my iphone 5s to ios 8.

I have heard rumours of an 8.1 update for developers. I just found another bug in 10.9.5. I am beginning to think that nobody should touch any update from Apple until they can get their very serious Q/A problems sorted out. This is getting bad.

I have iphone 5s  Recently I have upgraded to ios 8 there comes a problem with wifi it becomes uncertain and slow after two days i have upgraded to 8.0.2 but that also not solve my problem my 3rd party keyboard automatically changes to default keyboard whenever i try to insert password now i want to degrade to ios 7 but from discussion here i came to know that i cant do this plz tell me can service centre revert my ios from 8.0.2 to ios 7 . My  phone is still in warranty

I Have same issue with wifi on iPad air with 8.0.2 being qa engineer myself I am amazed how company like apple can release something with fundamental issues with wifi and cellular. I guess basic tests are missing and Apple needs to employ good people in test and do not get into this kind of disgrace next time. There is no fix? I have issues with apps upgrade too due to slow wifi, come on apple don't be Samsung or Chinese companies!!!!

  • Slow wifi iPhone 5

With same AirPort Extreme, I have slow wifi, slower than an iPhone 3Gs, same software iOS 6.1.2. Any explanation ?

My experience is just the opposite - much faster WiFi when using "n" protocol.    See this:

  • Why is facebook so slow on my Iphone with IOS 8?

Why is facebook so slow on my Iphone with IOS8?

Here is the article explaining why.
Developer Steve Streza, iOS devices are programmed to ping a test URL upon connecting to a Wi-Fi network to see if it’s protected by a “captive portal.” And that test page has been down all afternoon…
Here’s more on that from Errata Security:
“When an Apple iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) connects to a WiFi network, the first thing it does is make a request to the URL http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html.
The purpose of this request is to discover if there is a “captive portal” in the way. A captive portal is when, after connecting to the WiFi, any web request you makes gets redirected to a login/ToS page. In order to continue, you must either login with a username/password (or sign up, then login), and/or access the Terms of Service.”
Anyway, it sounds like Apple was able to correct this issue on their end, so no update will be necessary. But if you’re still having Wi-Fi problems, you can try the following:
Toggle your Wi-Fi off and on – Settings app > Wi-Fi OR
Set your device’s HTTP Proxy to Auto – Settings app > Wi-Fi > Blue icon next to the network you’re connecting to > Scroll to the bottom
One of these methods should cure your iOS 6 Wi-Fi troubles. If not, be sure to let us know in the comments below.
