Slow written in windows user using samba

Hi!,
I have a xserve with 10.5.8 mac os X server.
Since 2 weeks more or less, When my windows user wants to save a .doc/.xls file, they have to wait a little bit until the written is ok.
If you read o browse the folders and files, you dont have problems. Only when I open a file and save it. you have to wait a little to complete the operation.
I restart de SMB service and the server but the problem continue.
Any idea about that?
Thank you very much and sorry for my English.
Álvaro.

Hi,
The problem was fixed restating the server but now I have the problem again. I've noticed that the written files problem appears in directories with many files and many ACLs definied.
Any ideas?
Thank you

  • Connecting to a Windows Server using Samba

i've been reading others post and i don't think that i have been able to resolve my problem yet. i am currently using Mac OS X 10.4.11 and trying to connect through PPTP (Windows Server). i have been able to connect successfuly to the Win server with no problem - but my problem comes whenever i try to connect to the Win server. i am able to ping the route connection but not able to connect to the server. i have been able to connect with no problem and the same settings with Windows XP and Vista with no problems.
    Any thoughts?
    thank you in advance.
PS: i know that using third party apps i had to share the connection (my wireless or wired) with the VPN connectivity in order to be able to connect to the remote connectivity. and i think that i would have to do the same here.

    no thoughts?!

  • Does Mavericks fix interoperability issues using Samba?

Has anyone who has gotten Mavericks to work experimented with it as a server for Windows shares using Samba?  This has been a long-standing interoperability issue with OS X and I'm wondering if Apple has fixed it with this release?

I usually do it by doing something like this from a client...
    curl -I http://bnesse6/NetBoot/NetBootSP0/NetBoot_DS_Test.nbi/NetInstall.dmg
    or
    curl http://bnesse6/NetBoot/NetBootSP0/NetBoot_DS_Test.nbi/NBImageInfo.plist
The first line should connect an pull header info, the second one should fetch the NBImageInfo.plist.
Be aware that this is harder when you have spaces in the pathname.

  • IChat with WINDOWS users

Unfortunately, I still have some friends who have Windows machines. I've chatted with some non-Mac users, but don't know how they're doing it.
Can a Windows user use an iSight?
What software do they need to connect the way we would connect with the buddy list on iChat?
I know they don't need a .mac account and can use AIM, but I don't know what to tell them to do about the camera and chat software. ???
    Thanks.

  • Reading a windows file using UTL_FILE with database on linux

Database: 9.2 on RH AS 2.1 Linux
I have an application which is running on a windows PC which reads the files on different PC's on the windows network and processes the data and deletes the files. I am thinking of moving the application to the database to reduce a point of failure for our application.
Has any one tried using UTL_FILE to access the files on the Windows Network using SAMBA ??? Are there any limitations in Oracle on Linux with regards to accessing Samba Mounts' ??
    Thanks in advance
    Purush

Purush, you should really ask this question in the Database Forums instead of here in the Forms Forum.

  • Flash runs really slow until we delete the Windows user profile, any idea why?

We are distributing some web based education content using flash and we have a very small percentage of users (running XP) that experience extreme slowness when playing the flash file.  We have discovered that if we delete and the recreate the local Windows user profile, then this resolves the issue.  So my question is, what is being cached locally that could be causing this problem and where is it located in the user profile so we can just go delete those files and not have to go through the long process of removing and adding the users to the PC again?
In case it helps, the flash file we are playing was exported using Captivate4.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Could you have the effected user's delete the following folders and see if they speed swf?
    close all browser windows
    open Windows Explorer
in the address bar type %appdata%\Adobe
delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there
in the address bar type %appdata%\Macromedia
delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there
    Thanks,

  • How to deploy rpt chnges to end users using Windows Installer?

We are in ISV and we develop an integrated suite of business management applications.  We use Crystal Reports extensively in these applications.  We currently deploy 717 rpt files with our suite.
Because rpt files are not versioned, we are having problems deploying rpt changes to our end users using Windows Installer.  Windows Installer assumes that non-versioned files contain user data, so if the file exists on the users system, the file is never over written, even if the file included in the MSI is newer than the file on the users system.
Is it possible to version .rpt files?  How do you recommend deploying these files so that if we change a few of then, we will be able to deploy the changes to our end users.
    Thanks,
    Todd

    Hi, Todd;
There is a Revision Number property in a report that is updated when any changes are made. You can access this via the File | Properties screen, but I am not sure if you can use it in an installer.

  • HT1203 iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer - I tried to use the instructions to configure 2 different windows users sharing the same iTunes library.  I could not get this to work per the instructions.

I tried to configure 2 windows users accounts using a single library per the instructions in HT1203.  My iTunes library is on an external drive.  I cannot get this to work.  Any suggestions?

To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support article linked below.
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
There is a way to share the library without moving it to a secondary volume. If you really need to do that, ask for instructions.

  • Problems with Using Bluetooth speakers (a2dp) with multiple Windows users

I have the bluetooth Loudspeakers (Yamaha NX B02)
they are easily configurable in Toshiba's bluetooth stack everything works fine
as long as I use my profile
If only any other person would like to log on any other profile (Windows XP Home edition)
the Bluetooth stack won't pair with the Yamaha Speaker
I disconnect the speakers on my profile
Speakers are in pairing mode - they are found on the list of devices to connect
    but they just won't connect,
Once they were paired On "user1" profile on "Laptop1"
the "user2" or any other on the same "laptop1" aparently has to buy a new set of speakers
coz thouse standing right next to him are only to be used when logged as "user1"
First of all I don't really see why the bluetooth stack holds different device list and different configuration for each user?
Nonetheless - is there a way to somehow IMPORT device connection settings from my profile to any other
Or maybe there is anything else I should do to be able to pair with my speakers no matter as whom I'm logged at the moment
    Thank You in advance
And YES - the Yamaha set sounds great - I'm really pleased

    Hi
Im not 100% sure if I have understood exactly you Bluetooth <-->speaker issue.
According to your message, you cannot pair the BT speakers for the second time using profile2 if the speakers are already paired using the profile1. Am I right?
Well, in my opinion there is nothing wrong because the speakers were already connected to the notebook using the BT. From my knowledge you cannot connect any BT device if its already connected using another profile.
I think you should always disconnect the BT speakers using the profile1 if you dont use it. Then another user using profile2 would be able to connect the BT speakers.
    Best regards

  • CF Admin login fails (invalid pw) for Windows User other than the one used to install CF 10

I installed CF 10 on a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard having logged into the server as a Windows user in the administrator group.  I set up CF 10 Administrator to use a single password (the default).  I can log into CF Admin when authenticating to the server with the same Windows credentials used when installing CF 10 but if I log into the server as another Windows user in the administrator group I cannot log into CF Admin; I get an Invalid Password error.  I thought the whole point of the single password was so that anyone who can log into the server could log into CF Admin.  It works like that for my CF 8 and CF 9 machines.

It is a new design, based on security issues that arose in previous ColdFusion versions. See, for example, Charlie Arehart's blog for more details.

  • I am using Windows 8 with iTunes.  How do I manage iTunes with two different Windows User Accounts?

I have recently bought a laptop running Windows 8 and downloaded iTunes.  I subscribe to iTunes Match and have a large amount of purchased music and imported CDs, along with some films purchased from iTunes.
I have downloaded all of the music and the films to the laptop using iTunes Match when logged in under my User Account in Windows 8.  However, when we switch to my girlfriend's User Account, she can load up iTunes but all the music and films have the cloud symbol on them indicating that they need to be downloaded
Is is necessary to download everything to the computer twice (I can't really believe this is the answer) or are we missing something in terms of using iTunes with two different User Accounts?
    Thank you.

    Step 1
Create a new user account on your device. For Mac users, choose “System Preferences” from the Apple Menu and navigate to the “View” menu. Click on “Accounts” and select the “+” button to add a new user account to your machine. Edit the user information and grant any relevant privileges by following the on-screen prompts.
For Windows users, click on the Windows "Start" button, select “Control Panel” and choose “Add or Remove User Accounts.” A new window will open. Click “Create a New Account.” Name the account and set any relevant privileges by following the on-screen prompts.
    Step 2
Sign in to the new user account you created.
    Step 3
Open iTunes and click “Sign in.” Enter your Apple ID and password and log in.
    Step 4
Download purchases through the iTunes store. All files related to these purchases are stored under the separate user account, thus separating both iTunes accounts and their libraries on the same computer.
    Step 5
You can share music from both libraries by dragging your music library to a publicly accessible location on your computer. Click “Preferences” from the iTunes menu and deselect “Copy files to iTunes Media Library when adding to library file.” Add the shared folder to your library from the “File” menu.
    Tip
Create more than one library from the same user account by deselecting “Copy files to iTunes Media Library when adding to library file” from the “Preferences” menu. Add the files you want to iTunes by dragging and dropping or by opening from the “File” menu and sync your device to that library. Quit iTunes after the sync and reopen iTunes while holding the "Shift" key in Windows or the "Option" key on a Mac.

  • Unable to get Windows User Name using Oracle Forms 6i, Jinitiator 1.3.1.17

    Hi,
Requirement: Get Windows User Name using Oracle Web Forms 6i.
Tools Using: Windows NT, Oracle web forms 6i, Oracle 10g DB.
Description: I am using GetClientInfo JBean from otn.oracle.com, which gets windows user name, IP address and machine name. The demo I got from oracle web site uses Jinitiator version 1.1.7.18. While we are using the latest version Jinitiator 1.3.1.17. Due to this reason, I am unable to use Javakey which comes with older version but doesn't come with newer version, that's why I can't create the new JavaBean Java identity (PJC).
Please advise what to do. All environment variables are set everything is done, this is the only thing bothering me.
I went through the article 202768.1 from metalink, but on step 5, it gives an error keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Input not an X.509 Certificate.
Also, please let me know if there is any other workaround for this requirement.
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Mo

    Hi,
Thanks for your kind reply. Actually there was a problem in creating a certificate, now it is okay with the same method. Certificate got imported on client and everything is ready.
Now, the problem is when I try to set Bean Area Implementation Class property with oracle.forms.demos.GetClientInfo, it gives an error FRM-13008 Cannot find JavaBean with name 'oracle.forms.demos.GetClientInfo'.
I went through the articles 1072329.6, 196824.1, and set ClassPath and Path variables with proper values. Also, I have copied jar file and signature file in forms60/java folder. I don't see any problems. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. My limitation is that I have to do all this in forms6i.
I searched forums on metalink and found out that someone installed Patch 15, and everything went okay for him. Do you think I should install Patch 15? if YES, how will I do it, I mean should I first uninstall my forms and then install patch15 or install the patch on my forms?
Thanks so much for your help.
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Mo

  • MacAir - error message "This version of itunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the english version" Saw other answers for windows users, I have a MacAir. never used any other language but English

Trying to open iTunes - get an error message saying "This version of itunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the english version" Saw other answers for windows users, I have a MacAir. never used any other language but English so I have no clue what the problem is.  I just want to update my phone and back it up.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:
Can you launch your iTunes now?

  • Can I use a common music library across 2 Windows user IDs?

My Windows XP computer is set up with 2 user accounts. iTunes is installed and all of my music is stored in my Shared Music folder (this folder is in Shared Documents, which is accessible from each user ID).
I want to be able to use iTunes from either Windows user ID. The problem is that iTunes creates and maintains 2 separate iTunes Music Library.xml files. When I'm logged on (user #1), iTunes uses the xml file in my My Documents folder. When my spouse is logged on (user #2), iTunes uses the xml file in her My Documents folder.
This is problematic. If I add a new song to iTunes from my Windows ID (and the song file is placed in the Shared Music folder), it is added to my library and xml file. If my spouse logs on and launches iTunes, the song is NOT in her iTunes library. She has to manually add the file from the iTunes Add File to Library command.
I'd like iTunes to use a single library that both Windows user IDs can use and maintain. I don't want to have to manually try to keep these in sync.
I can't find any setting in iTunes for this, and the user guide doesn't even mention this topic. Any help is appreciated!!!

    TheMint,
I think it works like this:
The setting you describe is where iTunes will store the music files themselves (.aac or .mp3, etc.) However, iTunes creates an index of all of your music, and it uses that index to display all of your music in iTunes. The index file is called iTunes Library.xml
The index is stored in the My Documents\My Music folder of the user ID you log in as. Apparently, you cannot tell iTunes to store this in a different location.
So if you create an iTunes library under one Windows user ID, the index is created in that user ID's My Documents\My Music folder. If you then log in as another Windows user ID, iTunes does not see the index that was created by the first Windows user. Thus you do not see any of the music listed in iTunes.
