  • Slow YouTube when connected to home wireless broadband DSL2+

I'm experiencing really slow YouTube downloads. I'm connected to my home wireless broadband which is really fast (17000/880, however downloading YouTube content on the phone takes ages. Any suggestions ?

The answer is set your Wifi to B only and all the speed problems with the iPhone 3G will be fixed! There seems to be a problem with the 802.11G on the iPhone in my experience.

  • What can i do to fix the incredibly slow youtube app?

My 4th genneration 32gb ipod touch is fairly new (but doesnt have a warrenty) and has lots of problems. One, the touch reponse is slow. Two, the apps close with no warning. And the biggest issue for me is the youtube app is incrediby slow. It takes me 9 minutes to watch a 3 minute long video. Looking for answers online about this last problem, I have found that a lot of people say it's because of the HD that makes it go slow. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can give me any advice on how to fix any of these problems. This is not what i would have expected to get with $300!
         P.S.
I also have a 3rd genneration 8gb ipod touch, and it works fine! I have no problems with it and I can watch the youtube videos without waiting for them to load at all. I got the new ipod because I needed more space and wanted a camera (which also *****)!
    Thanks

this also happens to my 8gb white ipod touch the youtube is slow but the touch screen response work fine try youtube on safari and see if that is also slow

  • Slow Youtube videos and loading web pages - Tests ...

Hello. I've been having this problem for over a week now. Whenever I try to watch a Youtube video or load a web page it is incredibly slow and most of the time they don't even load. I've phoned up customer service 4-5 times and had several online chat sessions but no one has been able to resolve my problem. It is quite strange as all the speedtests I run show that I'm getting 19-20Mb/s, but I can hardly even load a 144p Youtube video.
I will say that it is not always like this, sometimes throughout the day everything will run fine but mostly it's incredibly slow, especially the Youtube videos.
I really hope that someone here can help me solve my issue as I feel like I've tried everything.
    Thanks

  • IPhone 3g slow Youtube downloading over wifi

I know there are other ppl having this issue.
I've got a Billion 7404vgp router with an Apple Airport Express extending
    the network.
I've got a Mac Pro connected via wireless as well and that downloads
    without any problems.
However the iPhone takes forever to watch youtube videos. It's basically
    unwatchble.
Has anyone over come this issue?

    Here's what I've got:
    - iPhone 3G (8gig)
    - Linksys WRT54G v5 running firmware 1.02.5
    - ADSL2+ connection, speedtests at 12mbit/s on ethernet cable
    - Laptop with wireless connection to router, speedtests at 11mbit/s
Now, help me work out why my iPhone will only speedtest to 256kbit/s, making things like YouTube unusable.
One of the speedtests I tried was http://i.dslr.net/tinyspeedtest.html – I get 2306kbps on my computer, but only 256kbps on my iPhone. A bit of a disparity there.
I've restored the iPhone on two computers (to see if that does anything, corrupted a backup in the process, thank god for Google contacts sync), ran a fresh install of iTunes, to see if it's that, changed channel settings, disabled encryption, even tried using a wireless card on my PC (set up as an AP), to see if there's anything different (nope).
Yes, my reception strength is strong. Shows as full.
    Pinging the iPhone shows this:
Pinging 192.168.1.101 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=68ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=407ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=8ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=42ms TTL=64
    Ping statistics for 192.168.1.101:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 8ms, Maximum = 407ms, Average = 131ms
A larger test isn't much different. When I can get a 3G connection, it's blazing fast. On another wireless network, a Netcomm router, it was just as slow.
The only thing I can think of is that, for some reason, it's the iPhone itself, either firmware or hardware.
    Any ideas?

  • Extremely slow youtube in Philadelphia, PA

I've had no complaints with my service in the two years I've had it, however in the past 2 months, streaming anything directly from youtube is extremely slow (about 10 minutes to buffer a 30second clip at 360p). The workaround I found is using a proxy, in which case it plays as normal.
No other video/streaming sites that I use are being affected, it just seems to be youtube. My speedtests are normal, so it seems to me there's some deep packet inspection or throttling of youtube specifically going on.
    Anyone else having this issue?

  • Slow youtube videos and beach ball spinning appears

    Hi,
I noticed that since Friday May 7, my youtube videos are very slow to load and buffers a lot and also i see a spinning rainbow wheel everytime i change window or tab. Before Friday, my browsing was sooo smooth, youtube videos load instantly and no buffer. I have OSx 10.6.3, latest version of safari and i didnt do anything or install anything to my laptop lately. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of flash player but still the same slow buffering. Hope you guys can help me coz its so annoying for me already. TIA.
    Melin

    Ok...
How much free disk space on the hard drive?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
also i see a spinning rainbow wheel everytime i change window or tab.
    So it's not just YouTube...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
If nothing above helps, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
    Relaunch Safari.

  • Slow YouTube streaming videos

Why is my iPad 2 slow at streaming YouTube videos? When I use my iPod touch under the same wi-fi network, it seems that it is faster than the iPad 2.

I have the same problem, my ipad3 was really fast, now it takes 3 days to download one episode of whale wars (40 min programme) and the internet connection is on and off. My Thinkpad is on the same WiFi network and is fast as ever (fiber optic).
Really bad, I almost binned the thing last night, it is now a very expensive photo frame. I have not used Apple products since 1996 and I thoiught I would have a go with the new Ipad. Clunky and unreliable as ever.

  • IPhone 3GS Slow Youtube over WiFi Finally Solved

I have been having major problems with youtube over wifi, same as many on this forum. Youtube videos constantly buffer (start/stop) or play very slow over wifi, butplay fine over 3G. I have read many posts about this and have tried everything. The solution I found that works %100 every time (for me anyway)was to change my wireless key from WEP to WPA. Many users suggest downgrading to 802.11b, which I did but it made no difference. Once I changed the key from WEP to WPA it made no difference if the network was at B,G or B/G mixed. The dummies at apple tech told me it was hardware and I should exchange my phone. So much for tech support. Hope this helps!!

Yep, same problem! I have 30 mbps on Macbook with my Wifi speed test and on mobile speed test I get 11.6 mbps download and 0.94 upload. I have the same exact problem. Youtube is extremely slow. I also don't have the luxury to switch to WEP since I have an airport extreme which DOESN'T HAVE A WEP OPTION. Maybe I should stop buying apple products all together! Called apple support the guy told me to switch the channels from auto to manual and pick different channels on my airport extreme. Everything else seem to have improved except YouTube. It is dreadfully slow and I constantly need to switch to 3Gs to watch grainy videos. This is unacceptable!

  • MacBook Air Slow Youtube Buffer

I got a MacBook Air for my birthday two days ago and I found out that it is almost impossible to watch Youtube videos due to slow buffering. On my windows laptop I can watch YouTube in 1080/60 without any stopping, but with macbook air I cant even watch videos fluidly on 360p, I have downloaded chrome, changed my dns and everything and it is still the same. Any ideas on how to fix it?????

You have 14 days time frame in which you can exchange your macbook air for a new one without any questions asked.
    Simple, exchange it...
    Hope this helps....

  • Super slow YouTube/Videos

I just got the new 4th generation iPod touch 32gb, with ios 4.2.1, a few days ago. I synced it without a problem. My problem is that YouTube and videos are very slow. I try to watch a video in YouTube about 2 min long, and it loads it very slowly, or it loads about 15 seconds of it and then refuses to load anymore. My wifi is strong at about 2.4 mb/s download. When comparing the same video's load time against my old 2g iPod, the 2g loaded the entire videO in a couple seconds. They were both definitely on the same wifi network and there was no other traffic when I did the test. The same problem happens on most Internet non YouTube videos. When I go to the YouTube mobile site on my 4g it is somewhat faster (with the HD) box on, but not much. When I deselect the red HD box, it is usually faster but sometimes stops loading in the middle of the video. I have restarted the iPod, quit all apps that might be using wifi, turned wifi on and off, reconnected to the network, and reset the network settings. Nothing has worked. Any help?

I too have this problem only with youtube, when I use the programme (that came pre-installed) it freezes when loading a video and I can only play the first few seconds of any video nothing more. I have upped my broadband to 2mb and changed my router to the latest apple airport express n version but I still have this same problem - that I cannot view a video in you tube. I cant determine if it is a hardware or software problem but now I am completely baffled as to how to fix it - any suggestions??
I have a 1st gen itouch with updated software 2.2, but I think I had the problem before I updated anyway.
my speeds are roughly 1935k up and 256k down (my computer is roughly the same but no problem with youtube)

  • Slow youtube uploading

    Power cycle the Internet modem?

  • Slow YouTube buffering speeds

My iPhone 4 has been having major YouTube buffering problems. It alternates between fast and slow loading. On Wifi with full strength a video will take seconds to load but if i leave it and come back to it on the same connection, it will take sometimes hours for a 3 minute video. the same problem happens on ATT 3G (which isnt amazing...) but it's just not conistent. Any fixes besides restoring, rebooting, and taking it back to the store? My battery hasnt been working well lately so i might take it back soon, but this is the second iP4 I've had and the YouTube issue is not fixed.

Same exact problem as you.Im on my second ip4 and has ridiculously slow wifi loading times.I think its a software problem and theres nothing that could be done till apple fixes it.I know it isnt my router because videos load no problem on my Ip3g.

  • Slow Youtube videos

    Using Safari 3.0.4 / OsX 10.4.11 / G4 400 1GB RAM / Rage 128 Video card 16mb Ram/ Broadband ADSL 2 Internet / Realtek USB Wireless card Vs 1.5.1a
When playing videos, Safari becomes very very slow, the videos also become very slow and eventually stop. We have tried using Firefox and the same thing happens. Have tried with no other applications open and the same happens.
Other computers on the network are fine, PC and Mac.
Something is obviously wrong with the G4 400 - is it just too slow - video card - USB bus?
Quicktime and other video files on the computer play fine with the Quicktime Player
    Christo

400 Mhz is the bare minimum to run 10.4, so unless you have maxed out with at least 1 GB of RAM and have ample hard drive space, you're pushing your luck. You're also not running the latest "stable" version of Safari, v3.1.2, but the reason why is a mystery. Have you tried downloading Camino and watching YouTube videos with it to see if it's an improvement?
Do you have other applications running when you're trying to watch YouTube videos? If so, can you quit any or all of them to see if that makes a difference? When was the last time you performed system maintenance on this Mac (cleaning up the cache, etc.)? If it wasn't recently, try this:
    1. Quit Safari if it's running.
    2. Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the entire contents of that folder. Do the same for ~/Library/Caches/Safari.
    3. Go to ~/Library/Safari and delete any of these files you find there:
    • Downloads.plist
    • Form Values
    • History.plist
    • Last Session.plist
    • WebpageIcons.db
    4. Open System Preferences > Network > Configure > TCP/IP and enter these two numbers in the DNS Servers field:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
click Apply Now, quit System Preferences and restart Safari to see if things have improved.
