Slowest webmail client I've never used

trying to access BT's web mail client this am to add additional emails.. the latency on the web mail client is reminiscent of the dark old days of dial-up in the late 90s... truly shocking example of awful technology in use. Guess everyone is asleep on the west coast including the web mail servers
In general, BT's web presence is an awful example of poorly deployed technology on every level: it is slow, buggy, badly designed with poor navigation and chronic use of scripts (like the Extras on my account that takes 2 days to run if it runs at all on Chrome)
I stick with BT because it does actually delivery bandwidth and up-time on the connectivity side , on the apps and services side - give up the ghost BT, you just can't hack it
meanwhile,,,, web mail client still grinding away in another tab  as I write this post so I give up ....I'll  add another gmail address: google can deliver on apps and mail

I have to totally agree with you, i have never known such a slow and bloated system, it really is terrible. I also keep getting a warning message from firefox telling me that one or more scripts on the page are not responding, and that is a problem i almost never come across, unless of course i log in to my BT Mail.
Yep, 2014 and we have an email system that is slower than systems we were using 15 years ago. I have now started to use a seperate email program - thunderbird, to access my mail because the mail servers themselves are fine, no problems with speed with them, it's just this crappy and bloated BT email client that is the problem. Hope they actually do something about it before too long, or at least have the decency to acknowledge it's a bad system, instead of going on about how good their new email system is, because it clearly is not.

Unstable means it can vary in stability day by day as it can be crash prone to being stable. Features can be a work in progress for a while. The May 24 Nighty build was crash prone for a lot of testers for example.

  • Formatting text (bold, italics, etc) in webmail client does not work in Firefox; works in IE and Chrome

I use the Smarsh webmail client for my company's email service.
I have been using Firefox in the office for quite some time, and only recently has this issue come up.
When composing emails using the Smarsh client, I cannot format text (using bold, italics, or underline) using the buttons built in to the client. When I highlight text and click a formatting button, the cursor just moves to the end of the line.
Using keyboard shortcuts to edit the formatting works sometimes, but is sporadic (sometimes formatting PREVIOUSLY selected text but not the currently selected text).
I have tried downgrading to Firefox 16, 17, and 18 (as this problem has only come up in the last couple of weeks, and Firefox 19 was release I believe on 2/13), but this did not solve the problem either.

  • Any Alternative Webmail Client?

I am using Java Enterprise System 2005Q1.
The SJS Messaging Server has the Messenger Express as its web client (or in other words, Web Mail User Agent). The JES package also includes the Communications Express. But the latter uses the Messenger Express to render the mail module. The problem with the Messenger Express is that it uses client side scripting (Javascript).
I am using Messenger Express as the mail client. The Javascript is very problematic for some users. I was thinking to start using the Communications Express, but since it uses Javascript also for the mail, then it will not solve my problems.
I need a webmail client that renders in pure HTML or depends on server side scripting. Is there any such product that is known to work well with SJS Messaging Server?
    Thanks.

At one time, Portal had a solution. Unfortunately, I'm not expert with Portal, and have no idea what they currently have.
I also have zero experience with 3rd party webmail products.....
Most customers use either our standard webmail or the UWC. Both scale, and with current patches, both work pretty well. Not for PDA's, though.

  • How can I force mailto: links to open my webmail client in a new tab?

I have configured Firefox 5 to use my Hotmail account as the default client when clicking 'mailto:' links. I would like to know if it is possible to have my webmail client open in a new tab by default when composing a message, so as not to navigate away from the page I was viewing.

Open a new tab. In the address bar type; '''''About:Config''''' and press
enter. If you get a page that warns you about continuing, press the
'''''I will be careful''''' button. In the search bar, type; '''''Newtab'''''.
Look for; '''''Browser.newtab.url'''''. Right click and select '''''Modify'''''.
Type; '''''About:home''''' (or what ever page you want) and press
    enter. That should do it.

  • Why do I have to update the remote desktop if I never use it

I have this update/install now? sitting in my software updates. It's for REMOTE DESKTOP CLIENT UPDATE. I will NEVER use REMOTE DESKTOP CLIENT UPDATE. Why do I have to install it to make it go away?

Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) Client is used for screen sharing.
It is also used by administrators of companies that have the "server" version of Apple Remote Desktop.  They use it to remotely maintain and support the OSX computers in their charge. The ARD client can share information to the system administrator about your system to maintain it.
    With that said:
If you are using an OSX earlier than Yosemite, you do not want to make the upgrade to ARD client 3.8 (v 1.1) because it breaks screen sharing.
If you have OSX Yosemite, you can go ahead and make the upgrade and you will not notice any change.

  • II never use tabs at a desktop. Tabs in desktop Firefox are obstructive. Can they be eliminated, ever.

II never use tabs at a desktop. Tabs in desktop Firefox are obstructive. Can they be eliminated? ever?
There seems to be a jackboot coercion to eliminate a multi-window view in Firefox to the point where, in the current iteration, there is a permanent single space wasting tab in the header.
Like many I have many programs open, spreadsheets, text and graphic editors, sometimes 2 or more browsers.
ALL are easy to find on the task bar until they are obscured by tabs.
I followed the gravitational pull toward tabs for mobile use.
    There they can be justified.
They are counterproductive in desktop usage.
Even the developers tab-killers have been eliminated.
Do we all have to accept tabs like GMOs and fluoride?
Is there a hope for a full desktop view in Firefox?

    @Tony98
You will observe that this is a question for developers.
I am familiar with far more alternatives than you could suggest.
This question is for Firefox developers please.
For you less experienced home users with just one PC I will explain again.
There is a client base that prefers windows to tabs for business reasons, regardless of OS, and purely for ergonomics.
With several programs open, spreadsheets, graphic displays, sometimes 2 or more browsers, ALL are easy to find on the task bar until they are obscured by a browser with tabs open in one stack.
I see tabs as a current fad, useful for small screens on low res phones.
Tabs in apps on mobile devices is just fine.
There we use a finger or stylus.
On desktops, we use a mouse.
Current smartphones and tablets, have comparable resolution and utility to desktops.
They just lack power. That will change.
    Firefox is the preeminent browser.
It is a mainstay of Linux and Linux appliances.
To push it toward "tabs only" as if just for phones is a mistake.
When MS Windows 8 is used in business it is used always in desktop mode, and with a mouse, not panes.
That's why business rejected it when released.
When the mouse disappears, tabs may become useful on desktops.
For now the mouse is here to stay, and so should the windowed browser.
As much as I dislike Internet Explorer, it has a simple "no tabs" option.
    So should Firefox.

All my purchases in iTunes has been made by Apple ID Balance (redeem from gifcards). My account has $ 27,45 but I cannot pay any new app or even update my apps because is asked to check my credit card. I´ve have never used it to purchase my app. How can I pay any new app with my Redeem as usual? Can you help me ?

It is a Remote Desktop Client Update 3.7.1
Thank you for answering. I apologize it has taken me so long to get back in here.
I just realized that I wrote that I installed from app store originally, but I must correct that statement. I never paid for the app so it must have come preinstalled on my 2011 iMac. I was confused since the update is through the store so I assumed I downloaded it. Sorry for any miscommunication.
So to be clear, even though I have never remotely administered / accessed my computer and I no longer have ARD on my computer, it is normal to have the client update appear in my App Store. Is that correct?
    I appreciate your assistance.

  • TS3999 I had an icloud account setup in 2009 when I first got my family members each a mac. I let that account expire(we never used it) and I don't know how to get it off of my ical. It is not recognizing any of the information to reset the password?

I had an icloud account in 2009. We set it up as a family plan because my family had just changed from PC to Mac. We never used it and let the plan expire in 2010. My ical will not sync with my new iphone because it is linked to the family plan account that no longer exist. Because I don't remember my password, I tried resetting it. It says the personal information I entered is incorrect, but I know the information is correct...It's my birthday it asks for! Does anyone know how to get that account off of my mac without the account existing?

You were a MobileMe (not iCloud) subscriber in 2009 and this service has been terminated. However the login is an Apple ID and this never expires. What is your operating system? Do you have a MobileMe icon in System Preferences? - if so you should be able to sign out in it, but you may not have an iCloud icon to let you create an iCloud account, though you can do so if your iPhone has iOS 5 or above.
If you are getting login requests or other irritations from your MobileMe account you can go to (user)/Library/Preferences/ByHost and delete all .plist files beginning with com.apple.DotMac or com.apple.idisk, then reboot.
The minimum requirement for iCloud to let you sync your data is 10.7.5 though you can sync through iTunes (except with Mavericks).

    Try this:
Open the iTunes app, select the Music tab, then scroll all the way down to the bottom.  Here you can sign out of any current Apple ID and sign into a new one.  Good luck!
And just in case there is another Apple ID linked to your account you can check at http://appleid.apple.com.

  • I think there is a problem with the latest version of Firefox. When you minimize one window (doesn't matter how many tabs) on Mac, it automatically minimizes all of the other open windows. This never used to happen.

Whenever you have multiple windows open - say one is your Gmail account and the other is a bunch of pages you're using at work - and then you go to minimize the window with Gmail but intend to continue working on the other open windows. Using Command-M (the minimize shortcut for Macs) unfortunately now sends all open windows to the minimize bar in the lower right. Which means - every time I go to look at Gmail, then put it away, I have to reclick to open all of the other windows I was working in. Can this be fixed? It never used to happen.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox

Because OS X 10.4* does not have what is needed by Firefox 4.0 and newer.
Linux users are in a similar boat also as they need certain package versions within the last few years as LTS distros (with outdated packages from 4+ years ago) like CentOS is a bit screwed on newer applications like Firefox 4.0. By your logic Mozilla should also support Linux packages from 10 years ago also which would be a really ridiculous thing to do.
I think only the 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 is really supported or will be rather when it comes to 64-bit builds (still not officially supported yet).
Mozilla is still supporting Firefox 3.6 with updates, in which 3.6.16 can be found at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • When I save an image on my ipod touch 3rd gen then go to the photos, the library updates/rebuilds, then I cannot view the picture as it just comes up as a picture of a grey camera that says JPG.  It never used to do this, how do I fix it?

I go to save a picture (bu holding my finger down on the image, then pressing save image, when the option comes up), and then go to the photos to view the picture, its says updating library and takes about a minute to finish loading and rebuilding/updating the library.  After it has finished updating the library I cannot view the picture I saved because it comes up as a picture of a grey camera that says JPG (I assume this is some sort of file, because if i save multiple pictures only one JPG, gery camera image shows up.) My ipod never used to do this.  Any idea on how to fix it?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
