Slowing down a movie
Hi,
im new to editing and new to final cut, what i need to do quite urgently is slow down a movie file but have it gradually speed up until its at normal speed, if anyone can point me in the right direction i'de greatly appreciate it

I'm not really getting to grips with this,
i have a 30 second .mov file, all i want to do is have it start at 50% speed and gradually speed up so that its running at 100% speed by midway through the clip..
it seems like this should be a pretty basic thing to do

Speeding up / Slowing down beginning movements of still images
I want to "exponentialize" moves when I use still images. I want to create non-linear speed up and slow downs at the beginning or end of my movement. Does FCE do this? Where? I know Adobe Premiere used to do it?
Any Suggestions?

You used the term expontential in your first question. This specifically refers to scaling animation that makes the speed of the motion appear to be continuous. This is a feature in After Effects, but is not available in any Final Cut Studio product.

I have created a logo using several objects. And they come one by one on my stage while playing. But these objects (which all are movie clips) coming too fast. How can I slow down them?

everything seem to be fine, however, they want now that when
a speaker goes on stage, the animation should be much slower.
is there a possibility to controll that with a button?

I am creating an automotive braking system using flash and have a wheel turning. I want the wheel to slow down and stop after the brake pedal is pushed at a certain frame. I know I could do this with frame by frame animation but was hoping there was a short cut - javascript?? If not the slowing down portion then is there code for just making the internal movie clip (wheel turning) to stop when it gets to a frame.? Thanks
you can use the ticker class to create a loop that you use to control the wheel's rotation or frame, TweenJS v0.6.0 API Documentation : Ticker

how do a get a refund on a ridiculously slow downloading rented movie for my apple tv dispite a >5mb/sec down load speed? my first experience with appletv movie rental. no good. rented at 4:30pm. still waiting for standard def movie to finish at 8:10pm. Not good enough.
Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...

In "edit" mode, my movie speed is fine. Once published it seems to slow down and become all jerky. Any ideas? Thanks
I have a revision a imac g5 with the same problem with only macbreak podcast. I know leo laporte said that the podcast was done in 1080p and my computer with its built in 64 megabyte graphics card might have trouble with this podcast but your machine must have a better graphics card than mine. 1080p requires at least 128 megabytes of graphics memory built in. My machine played this podcast on quicktime fine until they came out with the update to quicktime last week or two ago. I was going to upgrade my memory until I came accross your story and your machines doing the same thing with much better specs. I think it might be the quicktime update that is causing a problem. Maybe Leo will talk about this problem since he is doing a mac show about macs.

I recently completed a clean install of snow leopard and added some RAM to my MAC
when I open a QuickTime file... my MAC slows down, I get the rainbow pin wheel and screens and menus that I try to access start to "smear"... leave behind artifacts
ultimately the movies flutter and don't play properly, and I have to restart my MAC to reset my desktop
I suspect it may be related to my RAM because I've never had this issue previously although it only seems to occur when I use QuickTime
... also I installed "flip for mac"
I purchased the RAM from OWC
thoughts?The codec info should have been listed before the comma that precedes 640x360. Seems to be a bug in the recent versions of QT 7. If you have QT Pro you can still find the codec name by opening Movie Properties and checking the video format that way. Anyway, since Perian cant play it I suspect you are out of luck in MacOS x. Not all avi decompressors have been ported to OS X. It may be that the compressor is one of the old Indeo codecs and those definitely will not work in X. They will work in the Classic environment but a lot of you folks have given up on Classic. Just in case here is a link to the Indeo codecs for Classic: Indeo codecs for Classic
Have you tried playing it in VLC. If it is not an Indeo file VLC may play it.
The Mac version of WMP doesn't play avi or mpeg files -- mostly it plays wmv or asf files and not even the most recent versions of those formats. -

Just add the same photo with no KB effect before the photo that you are adding the KB effect to.
Basically you will be adding the photo twice. one with the KB effect one without. The key is to make sure your KB effect starts at the same spot as the preceding image.... otherwise there could be a little jerk

To slow down the rate of a Ken Burns effect simply add more time that makes the movement much slower... -
I have iMovie '11, and I can't find how to slow down the "credits" I've typed in at the end of my movie. I guess
it would be the scrolling speed.Credits scroll at the speed that is necessary for the scrolling to complete by the end of the clip. So, to slow them down, simply prolong the duration of the scrolling credits title clip by selecting and draggging out the yellow boundary.

Why has my computer slowed down? I downloaded the update yesterday and since then the color wheel keeps circling and I can't download or move emails to my different mailboxes. There is no consistent patern in which emails can be transferred. There is a consistent patern with the color wheel coming on while I am typing and stoping the recording of the keys.

i know i can slow down speed in a movie clip but can i and how do i slow down a transition clip? specifically the scrolling credits. it goes so fast i cant read it

... if it's possible to extract the clip from audio...
"taking from" I did read as "erase", "extract" is seperating two thing (audio+video into two streams)
but, sure:
extract the audio; then, after selecting the video by clicking into it, you are able to copy/paste/move/shift/... that video to any other place, timeline or back to clippane. (this will probably "transfer" the included audio too, so you have to extract audio/erase audio again) ..
the "extract audio" command just copies/"doubles" the included audio to one of the two additional audiotracks of iM and mutes to original track.. -
What causes a sudden slow-down of cursor movement?
I'm laying out a multi-authored volume in CS6, and when I get to one specific chapter, the cursor suddenly slows down and will barely work. Is there some sort of hidden formatting in the original text file that could be causing this?

"Carbonate" is known to run poorly on Macs.
"App4Mac" is outdated and obsolete.
Other problems may be present.
You need to become much more circumspect regarding the software you choose to install. I apologize if that comes across as blunt, but you appear to have been exerting quite some effort in an attempt to prevent your Mac from working the way it's supposed to work. -
Timer Class not accurate and slows down my animation!?
Does anyknow how why my timer object is not accurate and why it slows down my animation that is also present on my GUI at the same time?

xfoI'm (being lazy and) using the older RT app posted on your last thread. I removed the
TimeNow timer from the RT class and used System.currentTimeMillis (as you requested) to
determine the elapsed time during the animation (see "startTest", "stop" and
"movingObject" methods). Also changed the DecimalFormat to NumberFormat and set the
"maximumFractionDigits" to "2" so it will truncate the fraction to two digits (more simple
than before). Made arrangements for the ShapeMovingPanel class to update the
"timerJTextField" during the animation (RT.updateTime method).
The MouseMotionListener is causing the animation to appear jerky and uneven. The
"mouseMoved" method is very busy while the mouse is moving. You might consider recording
the "mousePressed" events instead of the "mouseMoved" events, ie, the events where the user
is attempting to click inside the moving shape. It would allow the app to be more
responsive and might eliminate the uneven motion of the animating shape.

Optical audio but Analogue output
Hi, I connected my AppleTV to my Bose audio system ONLY with optical audio cable. I figured out that sounds comes out with a movie in DD and ALSO with other sources (like youtube videos). The Audio & Video settings on ATV is setup to ON regarding DD.
