Slowing speed causing jerks during Playback in premiere pro 1.5. Can anyone give advice to solve?

Hello.
I am from Pakistan and we use PAL.
I am using adobe premiere pro 1.5 at my P.C. No capturing card has been installed on my computer. When I strech any video clip or slow its speed, after render, it produces little bit jerks and flickers during playback. Even it shows same problem after export project. Can anyone tell me the solution. Another thing I want to share, I have installed Matrox RTX card at my office. I have not seen any jerk there during slow motion. (Sorry for using inappropriate english)

Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you have posted to the CS5 sub-forum, and should post to the CS4 and Earlier Forum. I am sure that one of our MOD's will move this for you, especially as you were kind enough to put the version number in the title - thank you for that.
Now, can you give us the full specs. of your Video files. The more detail, the better. There is likely some aspect of those Source Files, that is causing an issue.
Good luck, and if this post "disappears," then it has been moved for you. See the link above to the CS4 and Earlier forum.

  • Flickering during playback in Premiere Pro (CS6)

Hello everyone..  I work in the IT department, and I am trying to assist a user with a problem they are having with Premiere Pro.  Let me preface this by saying I know nothing about how to use Premiere.. I am not the user, I just install it and make sure it's there.
The problem they are having is that when they click the button to watch playback, the screens (dual display) flicker/flash/strobe, whatever you'd like to call it.  As soon as you click 'stop', it stops.
I've already tried re-installing Premiere, but I might need to just completely uninstall the entire CS6 suite and reinstall it.
Here are the specs: (I don't know why the images are blurry, but you can click on them to open them and they are clear)
    And the video card info:
I've already been to AMD's website, and it says I have the current video driver.  Windows is also completely up to date.
    This system has dual monitors.
    Thank you in advance!

Only one drive is a problem (see below) but... more information is still needed
Is CS6 updated to the 6.0.2 version?
What kind of video is being edited? (see below)
Is there a red line over the timeline when the video is 1st imported and before any work is done?
-if yes, that means the project sequence is not correct

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
    - Press the red  to delete apps from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • Slow Playback in Premiere Pro CS4 (how do you lower preview res?)

Hi everyone, I was just wondering how to lower the playback/preview resolution while3 editing in Premiere Pro CS4? I'm editing 720p video (.mov format, that's what my camera shoots in, so I don't think I can change that). All I can see when I right click the source monitor is "Quality > High, Draft, Automatic". Is there anything else I can select? (kind of like in after effects, where you can set it to 1/2, 1/4, etc.). I've been searching the internet for the better part of the day and all I've found is that 'quality' menu I mentioned earlier.
It's still painfully slow to watch on 'draft', and it doesn't look like it makes that much of a difference in quality. Now, my laptop isn't exactly the rendering beast I'd like it to be, but it can handle 720p [slowly] in after effects so I think it should work in premiere too.
    Thanks!
PS: Any of you experts think this would be a good computer for NLE / rendering effects?
    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7192259&Sku=B69- 1277

    Thanks for clearing that up!
New desktop it is... I'll probably be swapping out the low power drive for a faster one, since Harm mentioned that in his 'building for NLE' thread.
Oh yeah, one more thing: How can I force it to render? For example, I put an HD clip into the timeline, it has a yellow bar along the top of the timeline in it's location, yet when I hit enter it just plays (with annoyingly low fps)?? Going to sequence > render effects in work area doesn't work either.

  • How to get slow motion with 720/60p material in Premiere Pro CS5.5

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to learn how to get a slow-motion effect with material that has been shot in 60p (59.94fps).
I imported that material (AVCHD-codec) into Premiere Pro CS 5.5 and created a new sequence with 25 fps. Still, the material is in normal speed in playback. no slow motion...
Can anyone tell me whether I missed out on something really simple :-) ? Or is the whole thing more complicated than I thought?
    Any help welcome,
    thanks!
    Toni

Ok, it's weird to answer my own post, yet I learned how to do it and in case someone else is just starting up, it might be helpful:
import the 60p footage into premiere, rightclick onto it in your footage-list and got to modify > interpret footage. there you can enter your desired framerate (in my case 25fps) and click "ok". then right click on the footage again and choose "new sequence from clip" and now you have a 25fps-sequence with true slow motion footage.
thanks to Adobe ambassador Jon Barrie!

  • Why Do I get Choppy Playback in Premiere Pro CS6

Before upgrading from CS5.5 to CS6 I wiped my computer and started from scratch. When editing 4 angles in CS5.5 I never had any problems with playback... even after adding titles, effects..
In CS6 I have my 4 files set into a multicam sequence but when I play back and start cutting from cam to cam it gets choppy.
    I am running:
    Windows 7 64bit
On a Dell Studio XPS 9100
    Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
    12.0 GB Ram
    ATI Radeon HD 5800
I have my memory preferences in PR set to 12 GB Installed, Ram for other aps = 3 Ram fpr PR 9GB, and it set to performance
Any help to speed up and render this proper would be great, Still have to add color correction, titles, logo.

The 1st update came out today. Downloading now. Looks like it should fix my old problems... fingers crossed
What's new in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 6.0.1:
    May 26th, 2012
Features added or changed in this update:
    · Improved performance using OpenCL, especially when used on Mac OSX v10.7.4 or later.
    · Added encoding presets with additional bit-rate settings for XDCAM HD.
    · Added Automatic Peak File Generation preference in the Audio category for turning off automatic peak file generation for imported audio. By default, this preference is enabled and matches the behavior of Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.0).
    · When this preference is disabled, importing audio or opening projects will not cause peak files to be generated. If peak files were already generated, then waveforms will be visible. Files imported before the preference was disabled will continue to generate peak files.
    · Enabled “smart rendering” and added Enable Smart Rendering Codec setting to the Video tab of the MXF OP1a exporters for XDCAM HD and XDCAM EX to enable or disable smart rendering for these formats. This option defaults to the off/disabled state. We’ll have more information about this feature in a post on this blog within a day.
    Bugs fixed in this update:
    · Start timecode was not imported or exported correctly when working with AAF files.
    · Some files from the Canon 5D Mark III camera were imported with the wrong timecode.
    · Playing/viewing waveforms in the Source Monitor caused audio dropouts with some XDCAM HD clips.
    · NTSC MXF OP1a files that were exported with drop-frame timecode had video data that was tagged as non-drop-frame.
    · Switching the Renderer project setting from Mercury Playback Engine Software Only to Mercury Playback Acceleration GPU Acceleration on a computer using OpenCL caused Premiere Pro to crash under some circumstances. Switching between the two settings on a computer using CUDA would in some cases cause problems with video and/or audio playback.
    · Crash when using full-screen, cinema mode on some computer systems.
    · Tape capture was not working correctly with some third-party systems.
    · Crash when capturing from tape using some BlackMagic hardware.
    · An extra, black frame was included at the end of the output when exporting to P2 MXF in some circumstances.
    · First two frames were being played twice on external monitor using Matrox MXO2.
    · Crash when using “hover scrub” with Matrox MXO2.
    · Audio/video synchronization was off by a few frames when playing video on external monitor.
    · The Export Frame button was not exporting the correct frame, instead exporting a frame one or two frames away from the current frame.
    · Some audio files and some MXF files would go offline or have their audio reconformed when the project was re-opened or when Premiere Pro was minimized or lost focus.
    · Crash when modifying an effect property while playback was occurring.
    · Hang/freeze when using a dissolve transition on an adjustment layer.
    · Dropped frames and audio/video synchronization issues when exporting to tape using some third-party hardware.
    · Information about dropped frames on output to tape was not accessible to third-party systems.
    · Some QuickTime files were imported with the wrong field order.
    · When audio was sent through a Mercury Transmit plug-in, any number of channels that was not 2 or 6 was treated as mono.
    · In HDV editing mode, File > Export > Tape could not be used with third-party hardware.
    · The current-time indicator (playhead) was not returning to the current time after using the Play Around command.
    · Last several frames of output when exporting to tape were black.
    · When encoding a 23.976 fps video to H.264, the duration of the video in the output .m4v file was too short, and audio drifted out of synchronization with the video.
    · Transparency (alpha channel) information from a dynamically linked After Effects composition was rendered incorrectly in Premiere Pro.
    · Importing some QuickTime OP1a files caused Premiere Pro to hang.
    · The duration of the audio track sent to SpeedGrade using the Send To SpeedGrade command was the length of the entire Premiere Pro sequence, not the length of the work area.
    · Timecode written to trimmed clips using the Project Manager did not match the source timecode for some QuickTime files.
    · Various other crashes.

  • Playback issues premiere pro CC

On my new Medion computer (Medion erazer PC X5331 E, specs: Clock Speed: 3.4 GHz, Memory: 16GB, Memory Type: DDR3 1600MHz, Banks: 2, Used Banks: 2, Hard disk capacity: 2.000GB, SSD capacity: 256GB) I have installed premiere pro CC, through creative cloud.
I have filmed with my Canon 5D mark II, and tried to import some of these films into premiere pro CC.
Import was successful, but unfortunately the clips won't play. I can hear the audio and every three or four seconds the image changes in the playback screen. It also won't playback when I've loaded the clips into a sequence.
I tried everything: rendering, setting preferences of memory to optimize rendering to memory, I've put the playback quality to 1/4, I've tried playback without audio, tried making the clips smaller (internet told me it would be easier to play it back when clips were smaller), I've tried importing different video files to see if the problems were because of my clips, I've tried to adjust the 'interpret footage', etc.
Nothing enabled premiere pro CC to play my clips, so now I'm desperate.
Can anyone tell me what I should do to fix this problem, I even tried de-installing and re-installing Adobe premiere pro CC - didn't help either.
    Thank you very much,
    Best wishes,
    Veerle

That sounds like a video driver problem

  • Canon C300 "Highspeed" footage Playback in Premiere Pro CC

    Hey,
I did the other day some tests with the highspeed/slowmotion function of the Canon C300. The highspeed function of the camera is relative (up to 50fps), but it's a nice effect. Anyway, the camera was set up correctly (project framerate 25fps & recording/sensor 50fps), but I am having problems playing the "slowmotion" footage back in Premiere. Basically, Premiere Pro is playing back the footage in 50fps(which makes the slowmotion effect obsolet) even though the sequence settings are set to 25fps.
    Any ideas or similiar problems?

select clip in bin and choose Clip>Modify>Interpret Footage>Assume this frame rate and enter 25fps.  Should play back at correct speed for slow motion now.

  • Stuttering Playback in Premiere Pro CS4

I've recently been doing some editing in premiere pro cs4 and when i'm trying to playback footage (Pictures or video) it will play fine for about 2 seconds then skip ahead a bit, it does this repetedly no matter what project i'm in. Does anyone know what could be causing this and what i could to to solve it?
    System Specs
    Q6600 @ 3.2 ghz
    1 500 gb HDD / 1 1000gb HDD (both 7200rpm)
    Auzentech X-Raider sound card
    EVGA 8800GT
    Windows 7 RTM
    Gigabyte EP45-T mobo

Try my Premiere Pro 4.1 Benchmarking tool to see if your system is misconfigured or improperly tuned.  Email me the results and I will try to suggest changes to improve your configuration.
One easy change to your system would be to remove your sound card and just use the motherboard sound chip.  Never having heard of that card and knowing that in the past even big name cards have cause problems this might be the first suggestion.

  • ICanon C100 playback issue premiere pro cc 2014

I am having playback issues in Premiere Pro CC 2014 with footage shot on my Canon C100 (29.97 fps).  It was happening after doing a straight import and creating a sequence using "new item".  Then, after reading some other threads here and elsewhere,  I interpreted the footage so premiere would see it as progressive (no fields) rather than interlaced, but that doe not seem to help.  It is even doing it when I play at 1/4 resolution.  The only solution seems to be to quit and restart and reopen the project.  Then it works temporarily for a little while but not long enough to actually edit.  I have done projects in Premiere with C100 footage in the past and have not experience this level of difficulty.
My Media Cache is not going to the startup diskc(it is gong to the right place)
I am on a Mac 2.66 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    OS X 10.8.5
    10GB 1066 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB
Please help - very frustrated.  If the solution is to transcode, it sort of kills the value of premiere in many ways.

    Hi,
    This might help :
Go to File > Project Settings > General and change the Video Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only. Click OK and select Delete Previews.
    Thanks,

  • HELP! Jerky playback on Premiere Pro 6.0.2 CS6 and Retina MBP (16GB)

    Dear all!
Please help me to solve this problem!
It's going on Premiere Pro 6.0.2 CS6 and Retina MBP with 16GB RAM installed.
    CUDA Driver Version: 5.0.24
    MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012
Processor  2,7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.1 (12B19)
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.2. - 072)
While playing back inside PP a jerky playback occurs, every 1-2 seconds it rewinds to 2-3 frames back and continues to play forth...
No special console messages or something similar visible.
Have tried to clean the cache but it doesn't help. Also have tried to switch the mode between CUDA, OpenCL and SW - without any visible changes...
    Exhausted... Please HELP!!!!

avrbox, I had the same problem and went crazy because I didn't find a proper solution. I use Windows, though. Finally, I got to fix the problem. I use a i5 processor, which I overclocked with an asrock tool that came with the mainboard (to about 3350 MHZ where the system ran stable). When I turned overclocking off, Premiere played back the clips just fine. I overclocked then step by step until the playback went jerky again and kept that frequency. Maybe your processor is overclocked by stock or you did it manually?
    Hope this is your solution!

  • MTS Playback Crashes Premiere Pro CC

    Hi Users,
I'm upgraded to the latest version of Premiere Pro CC. Recently, I noticed playback of MTS files crashes my Premiere session. A pop-up appears informing me that the application has experienced an error and must shut down.
Importing MTS files brings no issue. Premiere only acts up when I try to play them.
MTS files have worked in past iterations of Premiere (5.5, 6) so I wonder when this issue appeared.
    Thanks!

I am running Premiere Pro CS6 on PC Windows7 64Bit with AJA Io Express. The video is playing back fine no issues there but the audio is struggling to playback. Sometimes it plays back fine but 90% of the time doesn't.
When I play it back it sounds as if I am moving forward frame by frame! Very strange.
I have already installed the latest drives for AJA Io Express.
