Slowly moving with polygonal lasso tool

Hi friends, i'm little new with adobe photoshop cs6 and i have a little problem with something of it.
When i edit something, i always use this tool :
And when i try to do this thing :
My question is : what i have to change on settings to move to the left side as fast as in other sides like right,up,down?
Is little annoying for me to waiting to get on the other side so slowly and then again selecting.
And how can i stop auto selecting to polygonal lasso tool?
Sometimes when i try to cut a photo is selecting it's self the part what i don't need it or is not to be cuted.
Who know's what can i do please?

same problem on surface pro 3 !!!!
and i think quite significant, for lot of artists using polygonal lasso a lot (including me). How come that the stupid surface cannot work properly

  • Polygonal lasso tool not working with stylus on Surface Pro 2

    Hi guys,
I'm new here so please bare with me if I'm posting in the wrong place or don't make immediate sense.
Hardeware / software used: surface pro 2 and I'm running photoshop CS5.
Problem is a fairly basic one: I am trying to make basic selections using the polygonal lasso tool (using the stylus that comes with the tablet) but it simply will not work. All I get when I touch the stylus to the screen is the circle that appears then fades. If I attach the keypad and try using that then it works no problem at all.
Does anyone have any ideas as to whether there is a particular setting that I need to switch on or off e.g. something relating to pressure sensitivity (although not sure why this would affect this particular selection tool)?
I've searched the web and come up with nothing so far so any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks for your time

  • Image blanks when clicking with Polygon Lasso - does not redraw

When I am in an image, selecting an area with the polygon lasso tool, every time I click a point, the image blanks out and does not redraw. I am left with my pologon selection lines and a white image where the photo should be.
The only way to get the image back is to force it to scroll. I have to extend the tool off one side of the image or another to make it scroll.  Otherwise the screen does not redraw.  I am forced to work with my images in a window instead of fullscreen to ensure that I have part of the image to scroll to when the image blanks out.  It is doing this with every click of the polygon lasso tool.
Needless to say, this is maddening!  Has anyone seen this behavior before?
I am running Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP and the program is up to date.  I have two gigs of ram and have moved up the memory allocated to Photoshop from half to two thirds.  I have stopped having other programs opened.  I also tried turning off the preference for the 3D graphics acceleration. So far nothing has worked to fix the problem.
I have about 1100 product photos to clip out - HELP!
    Many thanks,
    Lynne

I have reset the prefs, first for the polygon tool, which did not fix the problem.  Then I held down the keys on startup and told it to delete the prefs file.  I am still having the problem, although not on every single click.  It has become intermittant, which is bizarre!
This laptop was recently completely reformatted and reloaded with everything when they passed it down to me.
I checked my video driver and it is up to date.  I am on a Dell XPS Gen2 laptop running NVIDIA Gforce Go 6800 Ultra.  Unfortunately the NVIDIA site is referring me back to Dell for the driver, and the Dell driver has not been updated since 2005.  Oh, the joys of running on older equipement!

  • Polygonal lasso tool

    Hi Friends !
May be you could help me :
I wonder how to move the areas I've traced with the Polygonal Lasso Tool (traced while holding the shift key to add them) separately ?
Because when I'm using the move tool the whole block is moving...
Another question : If I deselect and realize I want to move / rearrange those again how do I do that ?
    Thank you !

I have to admit to not fully understanding your question, but making some assumptions here are my thoughts:
    1) If you have a selection (as indicated in your post) consisting of several separate areas and want to move only some of those areas then you can follow the advice given by Noel or Bill.  If you simply want to move or change  the entire collection of selected areas then click on Select>Transform selection and manipulate the selection using the bounding box presented to either move or reshape the selection.
    2) If you want to move or rearrange a selection after you deselected it, you must have previously saved that selection.  With your polygonal lasso tool active and your selections on screen right click. From the resulting drop down menu choose Save selection.  This will produce a new channel which you can name. After deselecting you can at any time in the future recreate the selection by opening the Channels panel, hold down the Ctrl key and click on the thumbnail in channel you created. Then return to the Layers panel to resume your editing.

  • Who knows why photoshop polygonal lasso tool is slow scrolling to the left?

I have two versions of PS, CS5, and now CS6. The tool I use most often is the Polygonal Lasso Tool. I just got CS6, and discovered an old problem had surfaced, one I had years ago and I had long forgotten about. The photoshop polygonal lasso tool is painfully slow when scrolling to the left of an image enlarged enough to go off screen. Because this feature works fine in PS/SC5, I assumed it wouldn't be a problem in CS6. Unfortunately, the problem does exist in the new CS6. The problem  forced me to reformat the computer, thinking okay, maybe, just maybe something somewhere got corrupted. And yes, it worked for about a half hour after the format; then it reverted back to this simply bad behavior of scrolling painfully slowly ONLY to the left. Even if I hold the Shift Key, which should double the speed, it is just so slow, it is unusable. All the while, it works just fine in PS/CS5. Have you folks experienced this problem? I spoke with a few Adobe support techs, and they don't know what the problem is. In fact, they're clueless about this problem; so I am hoping one you may know of a solution! Thanks!

Have you tried asking about this on the Photoshop forum? You're more likely to find a solution, or at least common sentiment, from the Photoshop folks over there.

  • Polygon lasso tool closes path too quickly

I use the polygon lasso tool a lot to select stuff, now I know if I double click that will close the path (ie join where I am at with where I started) but quite often I'm clicking fairly slowly and it will join up the path, and there seems to be no way of undoing it.
When I've been selecting something quite complicated it drives me mad that I have to start again! What am I doing wrong or how can I change settings/prefs to stop this happening. Is it just me it happens to? Cheers!

OK found the paths button to make the pen selection transparent. BUT it's not working for me how I want. For instance. I was just experimenting on a picture. I was selecting the teeth using the polygon lasso tool and saving selection. Then I was selecting a gap in the teeth (small child with missing tooth) and subtracting that selection from the previous to leave me with the full area of teeth selection which I was then brightening slightly. I've just had a a quick look at doing that with the pen tool and it doesn't allow me to save a selection?
Jo, I'm only just getting to grips with layer masks, I've just done a tutorial in this months UK Mac Format magazine and am pretty pleased with how it showed me how to even out skin tones etc using layer masks, but I have a long way to go!!

  • Polygonal Lasso tool issues in newly installed Photoshop CS6 on IOS X Lion 10.7.4

I'm using a new install of Photoshop CS6 (via creative cloud) on a new iMac and getting superb performance aside from constant issues with the polygonal lasso tool.
All the other variants of the tool work fine without fault, but when using the polygonal selection , either the first 'point' won't register or subsequent 2nd or 3rd points won't register, causing photoshop to hang for a second then fill the marquee incorrectly.
I'm using a magic mouse and also tested it with a USB Logitech but still getting the same issue.
3.4ghz Intel Core i7 Quad core iMac
    16GB Ram
OS & Photoshop on a SSD
    Scratch Disk 1TB internal HD
    2GB Video Card
    IOS X Lion 10.7.4
    ... latest OS update
    ... latest photoshop update
    Any help much appreciated ...

    same here!
very unpredictable behavior from polygonal lasso tool with apple magic mouse and fresh wacom intuos 5 large.
work on imac 27" i5 late 2013 with 32GB RAM and mac pro 2006 with 16GB RAM
    - can observe unsteady and unpredictable behavior of the polygonal lasso tool
in 10.7, 10.8 and 10.9 meaning it wont react on my click and "hang"
or suddenly fill the lasso selection as complete, when i just do a simple click.
    - can reproduce this behavior with my apple magic mouse over usb, wireless and
more frequently with my wacom intuos 4 and 5 over usb.
    - even on my latest imac 2013, newly installed only photoshop cs5 and cs6, i can reproduce much more strange behavior fo this tool ever: the first point/click won't register at all, it feels like the polygonal lasso tool hangs and waits and nothing happens. i click on another tool, click back on poly.lasso and try again. after the second attempt, after seconds of waiting, the third click always fills the selection as completed, although i am not finished with my selection at all
    any idea why?
love working with polygonal lasso, although it reacts very unstable and unpredictable since years and versions !!

  • Polygonal Lasso Tool problem report

Hi, After I have updated my MAC OS X Mavericks this morning my Polygonal Lasso tool started to work funny, it jumps and auto closes, I can't use it anymore. Before that I never had any problem with the polygonal lasso tool and was able to cut any shape with it. I tried to updated my photoshop to the latest version but it didnt help. Any idea if this has something to do with the latest OS X? If so, is there anything I can do to get my polygonal lasso tool work again? Thanks!

I was having the same issue and I just installed the plug-in which seems to have solved the problem.
In Photoshop CC on a brand new iMac running OS 10.9.2, the polygon lasso tool wasn't responding properly and when using brushes the program would randomly freeze. These were only a problem when I was using my Wacom Intous 4 tablet, when using the standard Apple mouse the brushes and lasso worked fine. Both issues seem to be ok after installing the plug-in and the tablet seems to be working ok. Thanks Adobe

  • Polygonal Lasso Tool auto closes

When using my polygonal lasso tool, after picking several points, the line then jumps straight back to the first pick point and closes the loop, often through things so that I have to start over again. Then it does the same thing. I'm using a new Dell Latitude E6530 with Windows 7. I just purchased this Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 a month ago. I've chatted with Adobe who has had me reset some settings from 10.0 to 10.0-old with no resolution.

Yes it’s a bug. The trick is to select the lasso tool and then left click the photo information strip and hold for a few seconds until you see the windows frame at the top of the screen (Not Responding)
The lasso tool should then work normally.

  • My Polygonal Lasso Tool does not work anymore

I have Adobe CS4 for macs. Just today, everytime I enclose an area with my polygonal lasso tool, it stopped closing the area and instead gives me the message "No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selected edges will not be visible." I must have accidentally pressed something by mistake that makes the lasso tool not work anymore but I don't knoow what. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Or do I need to reset photoshop? Any ways to reset it? I tried holding option, command shift but it still did not reset my photoshop to its original settings.I also rebooted my computer several times with no success. Thank you for any help you guys can give.

When you try to reset the preferences you need to keep holding down the Shift+Cmd+Option keys even after starting photoshop until you get a dialog similar to below:
(resetting the cs4 preferences should have set the feather to 0 px)

  • What happened to Alt + Scroll Wheel Zooming while using Polygonal Lasso Tool?

My issue is that when I am working with the Polygonal Lasso tool I am no longer able to use Alt + Mouse Scroll wheel to zoom in and out while making my selection. I have found other ways to zoom in/out, but none are as efficient and fast as the method I just described. I used this function in previous versions of Photoshop and can’t imagine why Adobe would remove it from CS6. Is there a way to re-activate this function?

Were you using a mac (works in photoshop cs4 on a mac) before or which photoshop version on a windows system did that work?
Anyway on windows you could press the spacebar and alt or ctrl and click on the screen to zoom.

  • Polygonal Lasso Tool and White menus bug in Mavericks - help!

After installing Mavericks I´m having so much trouble with the lasso tool and white menus in photoshop that it is really breaking my production speed and causing a lot of problems for me.
Especially the Polygonal Lasso Tool, how its auto completing when painting with a tablet.
Sadly I´ve upgraded to Mavericks, and I wish I never did that. Because these problems never occured in Mountain Lion. I´ve tried going back 3-4 steps on the tablet drivers - but no luck. I tried reinstalling photoshop and I´ve tried pretty much anything I can think of but nothing helps. I deperately need to fix this and I have a long line of architectural illustrations coming up and it takes me a lot more time working with masks if I cant do it with a tablet...
I hope Adobe reads this! But if there´s anyone with a similar problem that has found a workaround or something I can do to fix this, please help!

Yes, 3 MAJOR problems which bugs the hell out of me.
-The white menus (which I assume Adobe is going to fix, since its a very common problem and it has gotten a lot of complaints)
-The polygonal Lasso tool (which Adobe has not responded to at all ) and I assume its something everyone with a wacom struggle with in Mavericks, but not everyone is that dependent on this tool, which we haven´t seen more complaints.
-The keyboard doesn´t always respond to a keystroke, and you have to do a left click for it to start reacting again. (which I also assume is something everyone with Mavericks is experiencing, but you need to use the keyboard a lot to notice it.
But why Adobe hasn´t given a single reply to the threads (except those about the white menus) about these problems baffles me I guess if they don´t know of a quick fix, it´s better to ignore it entirely. I´m considering every day if I should take the time to revert back to Mountain Lion - though that isn´t exactly a tempting solution. It´s weird how Mavericks can create that many bugs to Photoshop and why there´s not any info on any bug fix updates in the near future. I´m paying a lot of money for this software. I should get better customer care for this. ...sorry for ranting, but it´s making me more frustrated every day.

  • Polygonal lasso tool weirdness

When you use the polygonal lasso tool the scrollwheel no longer works. How is it possible that something so basic got overlooked. When making selections with that tool you scroll all the time!

You are completely right and I apologize for the oversight.
I am working on a MacPro 2x3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (this is actually 8 cores) with 9 Gb RAM and MacOSX 10.6.3
The version of Photoshop is the latest one from CS5
It does make a difference, because the previous version from CS4 on exactly the same computer works perfect.
    Thanks, Bob.
