SLS Mail Server with PGP/GPG

I am trying to figure out how I can setup PGP or GPG encryption for Mail on SLS 10.6.2. My goal is to serve my Blackberry PGP/GPG encrypted email. Does anyone have any advice?

This is normally done end-point to end-point (MUA at either end), not at the server itself.
Postfix is the MTA in OS X Server, and Dovecot the MDA in 10.6 Server (previously it was Cyrus).
See http://groups.google.com/group/list.postfix.users/browse_thread/thread/bc18d0324 aa942b2
Setup your Blackberry to access your server via IMAP, for example:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10711862
But the interaction of SLS and your Blackberry is probably not going to function as you appear to imagine.

  • My email account in Mail.app is IMAP, but when I delete emails, they don't delete from other devices connected to the mail server with IMAP. Deleted mail on other devices delete as normal from the server and thus from other devices as normal.

MacBook Pro, late 2011 version. Up to date Mountain Lion.
My email account in the Mail.app is set up as IMAP, but when I delete emails in the Mac Mail App, they are not deleted from the mail clients of the other devices that are connected to the mail server with IMAP. IMAP works perfectly between Windows Outlook 2010, iPad Mail App and Android default mail client. Deleted messages behave correctly, as in delete from one device and the mail is deleted from all devices.
Having just tested in reverse order on the Mac; emails deleted from the email client on Windows, iPad and Android are not deleted in the Mac Mail App.  It appears that the account is behaving like POP rather than IMAP.
Any advice on how to have IMAP work correctly on the MacBook Pro Mail.app?
    Thank you.

Hi Csound1, thanks. The email host is 1and1.co.uk, however, i am going to fess up and make myself look like a plonker now -
the email account in question was set up in Outlook as POP - stupid, stupid, stupid me, wasted an afternoon on this!  I have now changed the Outlook account to IMAP and Mail.app works perfectly - and looks much nicer than Outlook did.  Im in the middle of converting from Windows to a Mac, and still finding my way around the Mac
The lesson learned, never assume - always double  check!  All my other email addresses with 1and1 are all imap, except this one, and it happened to be the first one I set up in the Mail.app. (bows head in disgrace!)
Thank you anyway for attempting to help me!
    Cheers

.Create an IT Resource of Type Mail Server. Give Name as "Email Server. Now populate the values for all the parameter for example Server, username, password and authentication type.
.Go to System Configuration and in Email Server property value give the name of IT resource you created in step1 so the name will be "Email Server".

  • Using icloud as primary incoming/outgoing mail server with Gmail

    VZW CDMA/LTE IPhone 5-16gb
I won't provide my serial # unless certain digits have aNy bearing upon these issues.
I was wondering if anybody could help me configure my iPhone 5 to use the icloud mail server as the primary server for both my icloud account and my gmail account as well?
Is this possible to do or do I still need the gmail server as well?
I've read that the icloud server provides message encryption as well..?
Any help would be awesome. I just feel like with having 3 email accounts, it's sucking the power out of my phone and it also tends to get very
Hot at times under any kind of load (playing a racing game for over 20 mins, syncing device, etc)
Is this also not normal as well?
I just feel as if this phone should be much faster, especially handling processes, sync, even my wifi speeds suffer over a wifi connection between 20-30mbps DL and 12mbps upload. I've tried resets of network settings,,airplane on/off, renewing lease, closing programs etc.
Can someone please help, it's greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Using SMTP I can not use a mail server with more than 13 characters. I get an error from TCP open

I have no trouble sending an email if the mail server name is less than 13 characters long. I get an error 54 from TCP open when it exceeds that length. How do I get around this?

Don't know what to say, I just tried the SMTP email VI I have with an 18-character mail server address and everything worked fine. The error 54 means that the address is ill-formed.
The only thing I would suggest is trace the mail-server address down through the hierarchy and make sure nothing is done to modify it. Also try putting a probe on the wire going into the TCP open function and make sure the string you see there is the same one you are using. Finally, change the formatting of the control taking the address into the subvi that contains the TCP open function (SMTP Open Session.vi)to show the slash codes and make sure some invisible characters aren't getting added along the way.
As a last resort save the vi in 6.0 format and send it to me and I'll
try it on my system--maybe there's something screwy going on with your computer...

  • How to set up a mail server with a private DNS and relay over a public mail

How to set up the mail server that we can send and pick up emails inside and outside?
Our private network has the DNS name dnsname1.private.
We have our privat DNS Server and he can forward requests to outside over our router.
Our public emails are hosted by an internet provider. This dns name is dnsname2.com and dnsname2.org.
How we have to set up our mail server that we can pick up our emails from our public dnsname2.com?
And when we write an email how we have to set up it that the dnsname is dansname2.com and not dnsname1.private?

If you want to move your mailservice to your own (internal) server, start by making sure you can recieve traffic on port TCP 25 (SMTP). Some ISPs blocks this port, especially on "non business" connections.
Can you send mail from your LAN directly to where your mail is hosted using port 25 TCP or do you have to relay via your ISP?
You have a static public IP?

  • Setting up Mail Server with SSL

    Hey guys,
Unless I'm missing some fundamental stuff, I'm having some nasty problems getting SSL to work with OS X Server 10.4 Mail. As of right now, I have it working with Apache without a problem using a nopass key and the other required files.. I have:
    domain.crt
    domain.csr
    domain.key
    domain.nopass.key
    gd_intermediate.chcrt
Now when I try going into server admin and simply using the crt, key and chcrt and enabling IMAP/POP and/or SMTP:
SMTP just stops working and hangs all together.
IMAP and POP via SSL I've gotten working but i get the "not signed certificate" window that pops up.
Also, when this started, I noticed that upon changing the settings, mail would stop working all together, but I did read a bit about a line that shows up in /etc/imapd.conf:
    tlscommonname:
which causes mail to hang, and I've learned to delete that/comment it out.
Is there a way to easily set this up/can i do it via command line via imapd.conf and main.cf?

    Hello,
I have an IMAP email address with lots of folders in it and filters on the server that route the emails to a specific folder by different rules.
Does anybody have any idea about how could I make the email application show all the folders in my inbox? By default I can only see the emails in my inbox and that is useless because most of the important emails go into folders and this application doesn't synchronize the folders. I have to go into each folder by selecting the more folders option and only then it searches for new email, but when you have around 30 folders it's kind of time consuming to select "more folders", navigate to a folder go into that specific folder and see if you've got any mail. Not to mention the stupid sorting options at the right which can't be removed and every time you open the email it goes to the default date setting and it's showing the email divided into days. Who thought that would be useful?
I've also had an e66 and the mail application worked flawlessly ( you could see all the folders, how many unread messages you had in each folder, the emails sorted by date with the unread messages first).
Does anybody know a good email application that can be installed on this phone, or how could I install the old email application (e66, e71), which for me worked perfectly.
    Thank you.

  • Setting up outgoing mail server (with Gmail??)

    Hi,
I'm as green as you can get with Final Cut Server and I just installed it on my Mac Pro. I was wondering if it is possible to use Gmail as my outgoing SMTP server for notifications to other users? If so, would someone mind pushing me in the right direction? I don't have the slightest idea of how to make this work.
If Gmail does not work, what are some other solutions people have used in order to send email notifications out to users? Thank you in advance.

  • I cannot log into my remote mail server with my N9...

I am trying to login to my company's remote email.  When I enter the address on the browser it then asks me for the username, then password, and after I enter it says authorization failed.  I tried exactly the same from other phones, laptops etc and after entering the password it will log in.  Also I can navigate and log in from my phone to every other page, even the bank page. Any ideas?

If deleting and adding it back in doesn't work, try to just wait it out. Yahoo messes with their servers on a regular basis and when they mess with the one your account is on, your account has issues. They often resolve in a few hours to a day or so.
Sometimes you just have to wait it out because if it's on their end nothing you do will resolve it.

Now i`m willing to install mail server with some webmail ( i dont like outlook express thunderbird and other clients, only web acces)
I have googled for tutorials for 2 days now, just looking for best thing for newbie like me, with little knowlage of linux.

  • Multiple Mail Domains with multiple IP addresses

    Hello,
I am attempting to configure a mail server with 3 domains and 3 distinct IP addresses. I am currently only working with 2 of the domains.
Mail sent to either domain is received by the accounts in both domains: if I send a message to [email protected], it goes to both that mailbox and the [email protected] mailbox. I have user accounts set up in WGM for both domains.
I'm sure I have something misconfigured, but the only instructions I can find for multiple domains assume virtual domains using only one IP address.

    Scott,
can you elaborate a bit on the final goal?
There is no need to use multiple IPs to run seperate domains. Virtual domains can handle this just fine.
You could run three different instances of postfix bound to different IPs and different configurations. (postfix -c configdir_touse start) Each config directory would have its own main.cf with the main parameters to be changed being "inet_interfaces", "myhostname" and "mydomains". However, unless you have a very specific need this is just an extra headache.

  • Step by step guide to configure 10.8 mail server

Looking for a decent guide to walk me through configuring the mail server, testing the configuration, etc. plus the obvious DNS and other configuration necessary to make it work and access it from the outside world.
    Any suggestions?

Nobody is an idiot, period. You can ask all you want here
    Internet Mail
In order to run your own domestic mail server with an address of [email protected] you first need to register domain.com at a registrar. I use GoDaddy and Name.com, but please look around to find a registrar to fit your needs and budget - it usually is about $10,- a year.
Second you need to set up the DNS at your registrar in the sense that you tell their system to make an A-record for the name server.example.com pointing to the public IP of your modem.
Third you need to set up an MX record with a preference of - say - 10 and the host would be the A-record you've just created. Please follow the instructions of the registrar you choose, the'll have a manual or you can contact their customer support.
Fouth you need the set up port forwarding within your the device that gets the public ip (usually your modem) for ports 25 (TCP), 587 (TCP) to forward the ports to the internal ip address of your server.
You can usually consult the manual of your modem's manufacteren online.
    Background information
    DNS
Domain Naming System is a way of exchanging a name like apple.com for an ip address like
17.149.160.49. It's like one big conversion table, which you need because computers don't know what to do with domain names except forward the request you put in to a DNS Server that you have to specify somewhere, a popular one is Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) which you are free to use. You don't really *need* a local DNS server.
    Private IPs
The ip's of 192.168.*.*, 172.16.*.* and 10.0.*.* are typical Local Area Network addresses.
This is all within your house or building.
    Public IPs
Your modem is assigned the public IP address normally, unless you set up your modem in bridge mode, in which case the router would need to handle authentication (PPPoE).

  • Bounce due to: 354 Enter mail, end with a single "."

I'm having trouble sending mail to an email address. The message bounces from the other party's mail server with the following error message:
    Feb 26 11:01:47 mail postfix/smtp[22750]: 732B493DA1: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mgate.lnoca.org[208.108.152.63], delay=11, status=bounced (host mgate.lnoca.org[208.108.152.63] said: 354 Enter mail, end with a single ".". (in reply to end of DATA command))
Any idea what the trouble might be?

354 is the code an SMTP server responds to the DATA command. This should not be a rejection command (or comment). It merely indicates how a mail message should be terminated.
To me it looks like a poorly configured server on the other side. Could also be an interrupted connection.
Have you tried and contacted them?

  • Setting mail server

    Hello,
I would like to test internal mail service with Snow Leopard Server (before trying a service accessible from the web).
I have a dynamic IP from my ISP and I use a DYNDNS xxxx.dyndns.org to access my server from the web (but maybe it is useless for what I want to do).
1/ The DNS is configured most simply this way :
    0.168.192.in-addr.arpa.     zone inverse          -
         192.168.0.10               mappage inverse   server.internal.
    server.internal.                 zone principale                         -
         server                        machine               192.168.0.10
    MX mail exchange :          server.internal.                                        5
external DNS requests are sent to 192.168.0.1 (modem/router)
Is it the right way to configure the DNS ? I have no problem to access internal or external addresses.
2/ The Mail service is configured and activated :
    Domain name = server.internal.
    Host name = server.internal
Activate SMTP, with Kerberos authentication, no SSL
Transit outgoing mail through host : <my ISP SMTP>
Activate IMAP and POP, with Kerberos authentication, no SSL
3/ I have a user 'test' and I activated the mail.
I declared server.internal as mail server, with POP and IMAP access.
4/ I created an IMAP mail account within mail.app :
Receiving server = server.internal, port 143, no SSL, Kerberos Version 5 (GSSAPI)
SMTP = server.internal, default ports, no SSL, Kerberos Version 5 (GSSAPI)
For both, username = test and password is the account password
Of course, it does not work : mail cannot connect to the IMAP and to the SMTP server.
    But why ?
My network background is light and all I could read about DNS did not help me.
    Thanks for your help.
    Eric

    SAlut Rikki49,
