SLUGGISH computer when I plug in my Mu

Hey guys, I'm having a hell of a time here. I just got a MuVo TX FM Gb mp3 player, installed the software before I plugged it in, and restarted. When it gets back up, here's where the troubles start. I plugged the muvo into the usb port, and it recognized it, and said found new hardware, usb device, etc. It took a really long time to install it, probably 3 or 4 min of just sitting there(this isn't the cd install, it's where the computer automatically installs the hardware), then it said hardware installed and ready to use. I went into My Computer, and it said removable disk, so I double clicked on it, then after 5 minutes of it not responding, it says it's not formatted, would i like to format, so I say yes. After another 5 min, it says it can't be formatted. I take it out, then put it back in. My computer makes the usb noise, like it recognized me putting it in, but it doesn't show up in My Computer. When I have it plugged in and try to do things, like open control panel, anything really, it's VERY sluggish, like everything stops responding. As soon as I pull the MuVo out, everything wakes up instantly.
Now, it sounds like the mp3 player is bad or something right? That's what I thought anyway, so I tried it in another computer and it works fine, I drag and drop mp3s onto it and it plays them, all that. Why does it work on that computer and not mine? My computer is a couple years old, but definitely should run it fine. I have a decent AMD processor running at 2.GHz, Gig of PC3200 RAM, Maxtor hard dri've, Audigy 2 sound card, ati radeon 9700 pro video card. I don't know if the specs help any of you to see what's wrong here, but I'd appreciate it so much if someone told me what was wrong. Thank you very much

Yep, I found that too. Great idea. Now I need to see if you have an idea for another wall I've run into. Seems like nothing is going well right now, haha. I downloaded the latest driver for my nForce2 chipset, but when I try installing it, it says please wait while installshield wizard is configured and it will guide me thru, blah blah blah. Then it goes to the desktop, and I wait for the wizard to pop up and guide me thru like it said, but nothing happens ever. I tried re-downloading, but same thing every time. I have no idea why it's doing that. I emailed nVidia, but it bugs me that I can't figure it out, and I don't even know if they'll know what to do. Any experiences with this? Thanks again for the help.

    Hey khdewey,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with your iPod touch being recognized in iTunes on your Mac. The following resource may provide a solution:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591
Note: This article is for Mac OS X users. If you're using a Windows PC, please refer to these troubleshooting suggestions.
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
    1. Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    2. Install software updates on your Mac.
Note: If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
    3. Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications.
    4. Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    5. Restart your Mac.
    Additional Information
In rare circumstances, your device may be recognized after reinstalling iTunes, but after you restart your Mac, the device may not be recognized again. If this happens and you're using Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, please follow these steps.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • IPod does not show up in iTunes or My Computer when its plugged in

I've tried several iPods (all 5th gen 30gig) on my system. The first one I tried worked fine (but sadly wasn't mine!), but none of the others tried since have ever worked, even though they work on other systems.
The problem is that when I plug the iPod in neither iTunes nor My Computer sees the iPod. The PC knows it's there because the iPod shows up under "Other Devices" in Device Manager. (On a system where the iPod is working properly it shows up as a Disk Drive in Device Manager, by the way.)
I've tried all the fixes on the Apple support site, working my way through the relevant piece (61711) on the Apple knowledge base. I've also upgraded to iTunes 7 and read the new stuff on similar problems encountered by some people upgrading and tried the fix just posted on the front page of the Apple support site but it didn't work (I got this problem long before upgrading to v7, so I guess it wasn't aimed at my issue.)
    Any ideas?
Oh and I ran the iTunes diagnostics tool and it generated all this stuff below, which might be relevant - who knows?

    Hello Raytw8425,
It sounds like your phone is not recognzied in iTunes anymore. I recommend the troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Here is an overview of the troubleshooting to be done:
    1. Update iTunes
    2. Check the USB cable
    3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    4. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Check for third-party software conflicts
If the issue persists, try uninstalling iTunes and its associated apps with either of these two articles depending on your operating system version:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
    Or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • I am getting the message "the disc you inserted was not readable by this computer" when I plug in a verizon air card into my macbook air.  It also does not show up as a device on my desktop.  However, I select "ignore" and am still able to connect.

Whenever I insert my verizon air card into my MBA, I get the message "the disc you inserted was not readable by the computer", with the option to either ignore or eject.  I select ignore, and am able to connect to the internet, but don't know why this happens.  Also, the air card is not showing up as a peripheral on my desk top.  Any ideas why this might be happening and how to fix it?

When I unplugged (power) and plugged in again to restart it, yes, I heard it spin and click. Not since then though. I assumed it went to sleep and since the computers don't recognize it they won't wake it.
If I need to replace it can the data on it be recovered?

  • My external harddrive is not showing up on my computer when I plug it in. What can I do?

I have tried plugging in my external hard drive a few times in the last week and when I do, nothing shows up on my computer. The light on the ext hard drive light up like something is happening, but it doesnt pop up on my mac like usual. I recently had some work done on my mac for liquid damage, but have used my ext hard drive since and it worked fine. It's just stopped in the last couple weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If it's port powered, get a powered USB hub, Mac's can turn off USB if it's drawing too much power.

  • My Iphone won't back up to my itunes account on my computer when I plug it in, It syncs but when it tries back up I get an error message. I have tried to restore it to the last time it was backed up but still it didn't work.

    Hi,
I got my iphone last year and It was working just fine until June of this year and I didn't notice it until I tried plugging my iphone into my computer to get more songs on it. Error message came up saying that it was unable to backup iphone because an error occurred. So I did some research and tried to delete old backups and restore to the last one. After all that it still won't back up and some of my apps just don't work, thought the new ios would help but it did not. Everything works fine its just that I want to be able to back my phone up and I haven't been able to sync June. Any help would be appreciated.

For your computer first get iTunes to see it by:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    - The transfer iTunes purchases
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Or redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    newer copy
    - Connect the iPod to your compute and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug (very important)
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note: Data will be lost
