SM bus driver for equium a60-692

Hi
i have reformated my hard drive and reinstalled windows xp professional but am missing the SM Bus driver. Is it possible you could tell me where i can get one from please.
i have tried searching on the net and checking from windows updates but nothing is available. There are alot of drivers on the net and im not sure if they are all compatible. any help would be much appreciated.

Need a new mothherboard for Equium A60

I have tried suggestions given in the forum but am still struggling, I think I need a new mothherboard for Equium A60, I have searched the Toshiba site but tere does'nt seem to be any links or place where it says you can buy one from, HELP!

As far as I know you cannot order notebook parts directly from Toshiba.
You can do it in some independent electronic store, maybe by Toshiba authorized service provider or on eBay. I recommend you to check eBay. There you can find lot hardware components for different Toshiba notebooks.
With a little bit luck you can find mainboard for your notebook model too.

Troubles with graphic card driver at Equium A60

Hello everybody,
At first sorry for my bad English.
I have some trouble with the driver of my graphic card. After a new installation I just wanted to install the driver of the ATI Radeon 7000 (I have an Equium A60), after this I had to ascertain that my pc was out of order. The trouble was because the driver, I'm sure, because after a new installation, without the VGA-drive, my notebook is working, somehow.... I mean, I'm sure it could work better if the graphic would have an own driver.
I have been searching on the web and I did see that this was not a new problem; many people have the same trouble with it. Somehow, the pc's own driver is not compatible.
Could anyone help me to find a solution for my problem?

Sorry my friend but your posting sounds really unbelievable. Original Toshiba driver is not compatible with the hardware. It can not be. It can not be the truth!
Your notebook model is almost 4 years old and I presume Toshiba have had enough time to react if display driver is somehow problematic. I recommend you to back up all your data and try to install your notebook using original recovery image. If there is no hardware problem notebook should work well again.
Sorry but I do not see any other solution there because the driver is definitely tested and it must work well.

i want to use a port replicator for a A60 equium laptop can anyone advise what to use as i cannot see one listed for this laptop

How do I start Equium A60-692 in DOS?

the model number is A60-692, i would like to start my computer in DOS because i have a backup of my HDD done by norton ghost. while i am logged in and using the operating system it will not let me change some of windows folders or files, therefore if i can start my computer in DOS i can then delete the contents of my HDD and then restore the backup to the HDD.
I will need to extract the contents of the backup to a flash disk or a cd/dvd to be able to run windows from the backup.
is this possible copying the operating system backup to the original HDD.

OK here is the problem i have a backup of my hard disk created by Norton ghost v10.0.
after i Norton has made the backup i burned the backup to a DVD for safe keepings.
Norton version 10.0 is very different to Norton ghost 2003 why because 2003's version creates a GHOST IMAGE of the hard disk therefore during the backup the backup of the hard disk will be written to the DVD/CD in DOS mode. and also you can boot the computer directly from the cd in case something has gone wrong with the computer and will restore the data on the cd/dvd, but with v10.0 it keeps the backup locked up in a single file and the computer will not boot up from it, and if you want to restore the backup you will need to open the backup and click restore to the file you want to restore.
while i was restoring a file for instance program files i needed to delete the original program files that are on the hdd, but some files could not be removed because there were currently in use.
but how will i restore the c:\windows folder as it contains my operating system and i cannot delete it.
thats why i want to start my computer in DOS but before i can start my computer in DOS i will need to write the backup data to a flash disk or mp3 as it gives me an option where to write to. and if i can get the computer to boot in dos i may be able to copy the backup data to the hdd and erase any available contents before doing so.

Ive checked Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com and I found BIOS update 1.90-WIN for your Equium notebook.
I don't know why you cannot find it but please under Product type choose option ARCHIVE.
You will find it there.

I am after a new battery for my notepad equium a60-181.
The battery fitted is a PA3384U-1BRS.
I looked on the toshiba web site and could not find this model.
As it been replaced by another model, if so what battery number should i be looking for.

Equium A60-692 - Can't open start menu and keyboard issue

I have a problem when starting my laptop A60-692 and I am not near any service points.
When I push the power button the screen goes through its start up routine gives it's welcome fanfare loads up my desktop.
But when I click on the start the start window only flashes up for a split sec and doesn't stay up. If I press the windows key on the keyboard I can then click on the start and the start window will appear and stay on the screen.
However if I open a program such as note book or internet explorer, the keyboard will not respond and only gives out a cowbell sound when I operate the keyboard. If I click start then shut down and click restart the laptop will shut down and restart then everything works fine!
It's all very annoying and time consuming. I'struggled with this for a long time, although it was not like this when new.
Anybody had the same problem or have any advice to give?
I would be extremely thankful!

Thanks for you input. I have never had a problem with the keyboard once I have carried out a restart.
I have the problem when I first start and the first boot the key board will not type.
It will bring up windows such as "help" window when I hit the H key or "tools" window when I hit the T key.
If I now restart the laptop will shut down and reboot and everything will work perfectly!
But its such a pain the extra time it takes. this problem has been with me for sometime and I thought that installing the recovery disc that it might get rid of it, but no.
I arried out a hardware test on the keyboard today and it says that it is working fine.
I will look at the Bios and see if they appear O.K.
I will be away for acouple of weeks so it might be sometime before I can get back with any thing further about this

All you need is the right driver for WLAN card. Some special software is not necessary because you can configure WLAN using Windows WLAN settings.

Well, youve got 2 choices;
Either you will buy an new motherboard which would cost a little fortune or you will try to search on very famous auction site for a second hand Equium A60 (Satellite A60) or second hand motherboard.
All parts and also the new motherboard can be ordered from the ASP in your country.
The technicians could order such part from the Toshiba directly.
So its you choice now ;)

The notebook L30-105 belongs to the PSL3E series and has been equipped with the ATI graphic chip.
The chipset driver is a part of the graphic driver and therefore you will not find an special chipset driver.
The Toshiba European driver page provides all necessary and needed drivers. Check this page. Other drivers are NOT available and not needed

Need WXP Sound Card driver for Equium A100-027

I recently purchased a Equium A100-027 and cannot get the sound card to work. I have WXP SP2 running on the machine and have downloaded the driver off Toshiba, but no joy.
The laptop was originally provided with Vista but I could not get the drivers for all my devices so installed XP. When Vista was installed the sound card was working, any help much appreciated

Wireless LAN Driver for Equium A210-1AS

The Toshiba TEMPO system alerted me to a Wireless LAN Vista driver update for my Equium A210-1AS. I've downloaded it, but it's an Atheros driver, whereas the wireless connection properties show the wireless device to be a Realtek RTL8187B device, driver RTL8187B.sys.
It's not exactly obvious why an Atheros driver would be relevant.
Any suggestions?

Reverse the Atheros WLan driver installation and use the preinstalled one.
I agree with Mores. Dont update anything if your notebook runs great.
By the way; some A210 notebook were equipped with the Atheros WLan card and therefore you have received such update.
I think you should take a look firstly on your notebook before doing any updates

Grapics upgrade for Equium A60

hello to all!
I'm new to this so please don't laugh to much if my question is a daft one! I have an A60-155 equium laptop with 64mb graphics built in, is it possible to upgrade to 128mb or higher at all? I've had different answers from different people so wanted to find out once and for all & this seems to be the place to do it. Thankyou for your help in advance. Craig

Hi Craig,
As you probably realise, your graphics card shares its RAM with your CPU. This is controlled by a setting in your BIOS (entitled 'UMA' if I remeber correctly).
Go into you BIOS settings a look for this setting. If it is selectable (it is in my Phoenix BIOS on my A30), then you should see a pop window showing a range of settings usually 32Mb, 64Mb(default) and 128Mb.
Obviously if you set ity to 128Mb this will reduce the available remaining RAM since it is shared.
