  • With the new update my screen is not wide enough for the format. How do I change this?

After the new update, the screen shows only 3/4 of what is presented. I have reduced the size of the print and that did not help. For instance, in typing this, once I got as far as "presented" the screen had to shift to the left to allow me to see what I was typing. It did this automatically. I don't know what caused this in the latest edition of the update, but it has caused me a number of problems in doing on line banking because unmovable windows do not show enough to allow me to hit the submit button.
I want to see the entire window when I log onto a site. When I now open Yahoo News for instance, I cannot see the last three inches. I can see them if I move the page over, but up until now, I have always seen the entire page when it comes up without having to take any action on my part.
Where do I go or what do I do to get it back to how it always functioned before?
I opened the learn system and it references a Mozilla tool bar which I do not have either. Don't know if this is relevant or not.

    Hello,
Firefox on Windows is now following display scaling options which may render text larger on high resolution displays. There's more than one way to resolve this problem. See the [[Webpages are large and blurry after updating Firefox - how to fix ]] article for one suggestion. Here's another possible solution:
    * Type '''about:config''' into the Firefox address bar and tap on the Enter key.
    * If the warning '''This might void your warranty''' appears, click '''I'll be careful, I promise'''.
    * Search for '''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx'''
    * Double-click on layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to modify its value. The default is -1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to '''1.0''' to make it work like in previous Firefox versions.
If necessary, further adjust the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps. Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size. Use values greater than 1.0 to increase size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase font size to 125% to accommodate the default DPI setting in Windows 8. '''Double check the value that you enter.''' Setting a too small value will make everything disappear and a too large value will blow things up.
If web pages still need to be adjusted then you can look at the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/ Default FullZoom Level] or [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/ NoSquint] extension.
To adjust the font size for the user interface, you can use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/ Theme Font & Size Changer] extension.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • MacBook Pro with SSD that has a limited disk space (120GB). Rendering in Project File (User/Movies/Final Cut Projects), it takes huge space and the limited disk space would not be enough for the whole editing.

I'm using MacBook Pro with 128GB SSD that has a limited disk space. As we know, when rendering in Project File (User/Movies/Final Cut Projects), it takes huge space and the limited disk space would not be enough for the whole editing.
My question is, Is there any method to get the rendering Projects file saved into an external hard drive which is connected with USB/ Thunderbolt/ Firewire, with huge disk space (eg. 500GB HDD).
Now, new project created in my Mac is automatically saved in (User/Movies/Final Cut Projects) and my Mac has ran out of space to hold the files.
    Thank you.

You have at least 3 different ways to show the project library:
    1) Go to WIndow->Show Project Library
    2) Click the button in bottom left of your window:
    3) Hit the keyboard shortcut (Command-0)
The project library will be shown, occupying the area where the timeline usually is.
Your hard disks will be visible. Click the hard disk where you want the new project to reside and hit Cmd-N to create a new project.

  • EA2 New connection dialog on mac not wide enough

The 'new connection' dialog on mac is not wide enough, it loses the 'connect' button which is rather unfortunate.
    Resizing the window cures it.

Thanks - I've reopened the bug. The immediate work around is to drag and resize the window.

  • Are they serious? Captivate is not creative enough for Creative Cloud?

What are they thinking??? My thoughts are in chaos right now...I was about to buy in to the cloud, even though I'm not able to truly use it yet, so I could continue working and learning, as my trial is ending. Thank God I did a last minute check! WOW. This is wrong on so many levels.
And an extra-special thank you, Adobe, from teachers, many of whom create more each day than some folks do in a lifetime. Guess I'll get that squirrely little subscription for it, wondering all the while when they'll pull it out from under me. I was so hoping to combine it with the other programs bit by bit. Now I'm reading it's incompatible with so much here. Or do I have it wrong somehow?
Adobe, you have some very serious concept issues! Or I'm a bubble-wad and have no clue about what I thought the CC was. Entirely possible.

Wondering if you both can read my thoughts and hear what I'm telling everywhere
Adobe Captivate is the most underestimated application by Adobe itself. In the Adobe Education Community (I'm an Adobe Education Leader, very surprising because normally expertise in Captivate will not get you approved, but I play also with Photoshop, InDesign.... and that helped) they already gave me the nickname of 'Captivate Defender'. Reason is that I have been asking so many annoying questions everywhere like: 'why do you want me to present all the features of Captivate in 20 minutes, and do you not ask that for Photoshop or Dreamweaver?' 'Why do you always only show very basic features of Captivate and in-depth features of the other applications?' 'Why are you not using Captivate for your tutorials' etc...
I discovered Captivate, thanks to an article somewhere, when I was looking for a tool as a teacher to innovate my way of teaching, and as you probably know, became a big fan. But in education, Captivate is almost not known, see that famous 'Education Community'.  And leaving it out of the CC that has very interesting prices for students and teachers is indeed IMO a big mistake.
@Kurrykid, I really hope that your fear will never become reality, because where is the alternative that can replace Captivate, inclusive its roundtripping with Photoshop, Audition (and hoping on roundtripping with Illustrator for shapes in the future, and better integration of Edge Animate)? I have been using a lot of tools, but never discovered that 'white blackbird' yet.

  • 2nd display not as bright as first display

I have 2 facory video cards installed. They're the same (ATI 5770) each have mini ports and aldo DVI.
When I boot up each day at work, the second display won't go to full brightness. USBs are both plugged in and I do get the brightness control levers on the preferences for both displays. However, the 2nd display (at 100%) is just not as bright as the primary display. Both are the same 27" displays; each on their own dedicated video cards. I would say it is about 20% less bright.
Sometimes if I re-boot or reset SMC and monkey with it, I can get it to boot at 100% brightness but lately it's choosing on it's own to be dimmer. Switching USB ports didn't seem to have any effect. I am assuming it's a hardware issue bc I have reset PRAM, SMC, Disk Repair, trashing preferences, and so I'm a little bummed this expensive 27" LED display can't guage it's full brightness.
Thanks kindly for any input / solutions.

To post a hopefully helpful follow-up.. over past couple of days I got it to hold up its full brightness. To restore the full brightness of the 2nd display I disconnected / reconnected the display cable a few times until I noticed it was suddenly matching the full brightness of the 1st display. Is it the 2nd video card? The display? The G5 hardware/software? Can't say.
But after re-booting overnight, it retained the full brightness. Not sure why this happened/s, could be an isolated issue with something slightly defective?? Regardless, maybe this will help someone where both displays are not at full 100% brightness. Replug them a couple times to see if that tricks it back into action.
Remember, my toggles in the display prefs said both were at 100% yet the 2nd display was clearly 20% darker before I got them back to true 100%.
In the end, these LED displays are truely magnificent (aside from my isolated issue).

  • Setting my display size to "Best for Retina Display" creates a host of problems.

When I go into System Preferences>Displays>Set Best for Retina Displays, my typical web pages are scaled a bit too large to fit on the screen and I'm constanty having to scroll left/right to all the information. On top of that, if I click on a link, e.g., click on YouTube video, the resulting screen is shrunk to occupy only a small portion of the screen, and is much too small to read/view.  This is a new phenomenon and hasn't always been this way.  Any ideas?

Which os version are you using?
Does this happen in all browsers?
You are still under warranty.  Call Apple Care and get your monies worth before it runs out.

  • Cross-references (MS-Word to WebHelp) not showing up for Tables and Figures

I am converting an MS-Word 2010 document to WebHelp using RH9. Cross-references to numbered sections, appendixes, websites, etc. come out fine. Cross-references to tables and figures do not always appear. In some sections they are there, and in some they are not.
Would anyone be able to offer any insight into how I can get these table and figure cross-references to come out on a regular basis in the WebHelp version? Thank you.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS MESSAGE: Cross-references to tables and figures NEVER appear in the RH version when coming from MS-Word.
Is there any way to have these cross-references appear? If not, it appears the only solution is to bookmark tables and figures individually and hyperlink to each of them.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • So You Think Your Computer's Not Powerful Enough For FCE/FCP !!!!!

It's NOT a question - just some sobering thoughts!
How many times do we get worried owners asking whether the Mac they have or the one they intend to get will have enough power to operate FCE/FCP?
So I trawled through the history books - otherwise known as back-copies of Macworld and this is what I discovered.
Final Cut Pro was released in April 1999. At that time the most powerful Macs had the following specification:-
    G3 450MHz processors.
    OS 8.6
Couldn't find the HD size but guess it was around 20GB.
All this power cost over £2,000 !
Now I know that the latest versions of FCE/FCP have additional features, but if we disregard HD processing the latest are not that much different from the original.
So has anyone, even those that buy the puniest Mac-Mini, got anything to really worry about?
    Ian.(Who sets cats amongst pigeons).

I have a 1Ghz, G4 Powerbook w/768MB RAM and FCEHD runs beautifully. I also successfully use DVDSP2, Compressor, Cinema 4d 9.52, AE6.5Pro and RealFlow3. Motion 1 causes some crashes when I try to use particle effects and some AE based plug ins, but it does work for basic stuff.

  • SSD not big enough for re-install of Snow Leopard - now what

I've installed an SSD in my MacPro - and it's great! Really fast, no problems. BUT, I can't upgrade the system to 10.6.6, because every time I try, I get a kernel panic on start-up. Apple have advised me to re-install SL from the original disc, but....there's not enough space on the SSD to do this. I have other hard drives that have enough space, but if I install SL there...how do I move it over to the SSD? I'm nervous of moving apps. off the SSD, as I'm not sure which have to be with the system, and which don't. I could leave everything well alone, and wait for Lion to arrive, but would have the same problem then.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Did you erase first? no reason SL is too large but I have seen other posts that seem to suggest there are other problems with OS X 10.6 and SSDs.
Mine is 90GB (83GB left for use) and I like to over provision, leave space for temp files and for wear and tear.
10.6.6 combo update @ 1GB has to expand, write temp files, shuffle files around, and could use 7GB during the process.
If you haven't, I'd download, read the pdf manual SuperDuper in the future for smart clone backups, and even put the system on a sparse disk image.
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
I suspect the lack of space is from installing over an old system, no? why not include things like size of SSD. you may have chosen small drive and need to consider stripe a pair instead.

  • Help pls....have os x 10.4 not good enough for itunes or iPhone?

    Hi All,
I have a macbook version 10.4.11. I have had it for a long time but honestly i probably use about 1 % of it! And i really don't know much about how to use it, i just use it for the internet.
I now have an iPhone, but i don't have a good enough version of iTunes. I have tried to download the latest version, but it says i need at least os x 10.5. I can't seem to find out how to get this? Do i need to buy it or can i just download it? I can find a lot about getting snow leopard, but that says it requires at least os x 10.5 to download it but i don't have that.
So what do i need to do? Do i need to buy os x 10.6? I just can't seem to find os x 10.5 anywhere which is what i need and want i i have got it right?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Mini + LG LCD: pix (res) not wide enough (16:9 vs. 4:3)

hi... i'm wading through the responses and havent found an answer.
i'm using my mini with a 37in LCD TV w/ 16:9 aspect ratio... not ale to utilize the full width of the screen
the mini works great through both VGA and DVI and it seems to even recognize the model (DU-37LZ30) as it's indicated in the display prefs...
however, it can't seems to display the full-width 16:9 picture. i get 1024X768 as a menu selection, but nothing wider (and anything smaller is much less-clear). i need 1920X1080, but cannot select it (not available in the prefs).
anything out there to help unlock the lost 5in on either side of the screen? adjusting the TV simply distorts the picture or i loose the left side of the screen (apple menu),

    Hunter,
I am not sure how much wisdom I can impart, but i am searching around to see if I can help you find a solution. I came accross this:
    http://tenant.com/images/mini/full/displayxsettings.png
someone who connected their mini to their Sony hdtv with similar native res than yours I believe.
I think what you call offsetting is overscan (correct me if I am wrong). Maybe this would do the trick..?
Also, post on avsforums, they are really helpful there. Finally, have you seen the specs on the DisplayConfig website? Maybe there is some helpful info there...
I'll keep digging as well. I just know plenty of people have connected their mini's to TV's via DVI, there has to be a way!!

  • T510 FHD display not bright enough

i prefer lenovo's matte finish screens--very little glare--great for business purposes.  However, i use the laptop outside a lot and therefore need the brightest possible display, for use in sunlight, where primarily i'm using outlook and Word.  In Feb 2010, i bought a T510 with the FHD (270nit; 95% gamut) screen, and it was perfect for outside--very bright and easy to see.
then my laptop was stolen! Insurance bought me a new one--same exact T510 (only with outlook 2010 instead of 2007) with same FHD screen.  Problem is that it's definitely not as bright.  i turned up brightness in windows and in thinkadvantage.  also maxed out brightness in the NVidia control panel (which did nothing, since that's really for video playback), and i even have played with the color-saturation brightness and other levels in the intel HD control panel (which increased the display somewhat, but still not as bright as my previous T510--also tends to wash out the colors and makes outlook a bit harder to read).
also weird: about once a day, on battery, the display dims almost to darkness, then gradually brightens back up in about 20 seconds.  i'm using max performance on all battery settings, so don't why this is happening.  not a big deal, but i thought it might be connected to the above problem.
i talked to lenovo warranty/service tech, who had no other ideas, other than to return the unit--which i don't want to do, as i've now got this one all set up.
    any suggestions, folks?
    much thanks,
    jeff

  • Living in Africa, internet not strong enough for software update

    Greetings Apple,
I'm living in Mozambique right now and finding it very difficult to update the Apple updates. The internet that I am able to access is about as good as it gets here in this country. I'm going to have to find a way to do it and hope you will offer some suggestions.
    Here is what happens:
When I go to the usual apple menu drop-down and select software update, it goes through the initial process, then begins the download, with the box: "downloading 2 items - downloading Mac OSX Update Combined . . . 1.37 GB of 1.06 GB - About 5 seconds"
but, part way through, something goes amiss (probably the Mozambican internet is interrupted as it usually is) and I never even get to the place where I can then install them. I consistently get a message box that says: "The update 'Mac OS X Update Combined can't be saved. Software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you're connected to the internet, and then try again.'"
Is there a way that I can go to the apple website, get the list of what is included in the upgrades, and then download them one at a time? That would help those of us living in less-than-ideal internet situations.
    thanks for your assistance!
    Autumn

    Thanks for your reply.
I have also been doing this that you suggest.
I have gone to the Mac OSX v10.6.6 Update Combo page
and been trying over and over to download it, but am not able to. Also tried the Mac OSX v10.6.6 update (not combo). It downloaded 55.1 of 144 MB quite well, then stopped downloading, even though the internet connection was fine, and didn't go anywhere. This problem has been happening consistently for me.
I have gone to the download site and individually downloaded the following:
    I did iTunes 10
    I did Safari 5.0.3
    what else am I missing?
    Thanks again,
    Autumn
