SM59 "Remote Logon" malfunctions after server migration

Hi all,
Originally our BW server is running under I386 platform. And the server seems not powerful enough, so we decided to migrate the server to IA64 platform.
After we migrated the server to the IA64 platform, we've performed some basic checking, including SM59 check. But problem occurs.
After I choose one of the RFC destination from SM59, I CAN execute the "Connection Test" and "Unicode Test" correctly. But when I press the button "Remote Logon", nothing happens.
I've also checked for the developer trace and nothing can be found. So I have also updated the Kernel to the latest version but the result is still the same ("Remote Logon" malfunctions).
Do you have any idea?
Many Many Thanks.
Best Regards,
Marco

Oh - IA64 - x86_64 would have been as powerful (or even more) and cheaper but neverless - to your problem:

Is the user provided a DIALOG user on the remote system? If not, then you can't logon.

  • SM59 Remote Logon User Prompt 'pop up'

In setting up an R/3 system source system in BW Netweaver 2004s, through RSA1 seems the R/3 system will not logon to the BW system.
Tested SM59 remote logon with a Dialog user using the correct username and password, SAP_ALL, SAP_NEW, S.A_System etc. The logon screen option is not checked, but it 'pops up' prompting for a username and password. I have tried connecting with another BW 2004s system without issue, appears something specific with the R/3 4.7 version?
Also, have tried running a trace and it simply shows the last dynpro in the logon process.
Any insight or help in this would be great ! I'm stumped.

    Hi,
We already had a similar problem :
Are you using a BI 7.0 system ?
BI 7.0 is based on netweaver 7.0 and passwords are case sensitive.
R/3 4.7 is based on wAS 6.20 and passwords are always converted in UPPER CASE.
Set the password of your BI user in upper case and R/3 will be able to use it from SM59...
    Hope this helps,
    Olivier

  • System performance degrades after server migration ???

    Hi Friends,
System performance degrades after we migrate our BW 3.5 Server (Production) from UK to Germany.

After Server Migration it is taking 4 Hrs.
Please help out to find the reason for this.
Note : Server Ram , Hard Disk , Speed is same on both Servers
    Thanks

Are you cahnge any application or database parameter (the OS and all patch'es are the same?)
How you doing migration? Very low information... Are you check the network configuration are the same( for example check the network speed 1G or 100MB).
Are you trying to analyse the St03N and St04 t-codes?

We had to move the remote site from one server to another by backing up the current remote site and restoring it on another server. On the central site under the remote sites and agents setting page, when you click on the site name it is still trying to go to the old server but according to the remote site everything is communicating properly. Delete the remote site on the central server and re-establish the connection from the remote site. I'm not sure what that will do to the data so I was hesitant to do this one.Does anyone know how to accomplish the first option or should I just...

Please share what task fails, profile your network speed, and the new environment specs.
Also depends on SSIS version you can have (in 2012 and above) the operational reports that indicate each tasks speed, otherwise add more logging.
On the surface, the issue is with the network speed or how busy the new machines are.
PS: you shared too few details to be of more help

  • SM59 - Remote Logon taking very long time - RFC is receiver

    Hi Friends,
We have ABAP connection (SM59) to R/3 system from PI system.  The connection test is fine. But, when we click the Remote Logon from SM59, it is taking very long time. It is unable to login.
Due to this, messages are in scheduled state in the receiver CC monitoring. (SOAP to RFC - Async ). Receiver RFC CC also are green.
We checked with R/3 team, the remote user which is used in SM59 is not locked in R/3 system and password also not changed.
Friends, kindly clarify why it is taking very long time from PI in SM59 when the connection is fine.
    Kind regards,
    Jegathees P.

    Hi Sabarish,
I checked in SM58. There are no entries.  SM59 is for other interfaces (IDoc).  In the Message Monitoring all messages showing 'To be Delivered' and 'Delivering' from yesterday onwards. In the CC monitoring, it shows 'Message Processing Started' from yesterday onwards. But not completed.
I checked in SM21 take log of type 'RD'.  I doubt is this the correct log for this problem.
The specified operating system call was returned with an error.        |
For communication calls (receive, send, etc) often the cause of errors
    are network problems.
It could also be a configuration problem at operating system level.
(file cannot be opened, no space in the file system etc.).
Additional specifications for error number 146
    Name for errno number ECONNREFUSED
Interprocess communication (e.g. TCP/IP) connection refused by partner.
    |This usually means that the necessary receiver program is not running.
    Kindly clarify.
    Kind regards,

  • ECP redirect to OWA after server migration

I have an odd problem with my Exchange 2013 environment after a migration (moving of a server).
My Exchange environment is as follows:
    2 x CAS/MBX servers (physical machines)
1 x CAS server (virtual machine used for internal ECP access only)
All machines were in the same site
We have two sites and we wanted the virtual CAS server to be moved to our datacentre as part of a DR strategy (it will have the MBX role installed eventually, but initially it will remain a CAS).
So I powered down the virtual machine, cloned it and moved the clone to the datacenter (all using VMWare). Brought it back up and re-addressed the network card with the correct IP for the new network it is now in.
I ran tests such as accessing the ECP both from within the datacenter and from our primary site and I was able to access the ECP without issue and create mailboxes etc. However this morning when I came in and attempted to access the ECP with my admin account
that has always previously worked I am now being redirected to OWA???
I cannot think of a reason as to why this would be happening.
Is anyone able to offer an advice?
    Kind regards

    Hi George,
Agree with Sathish. Please use the following URL from Exchange CAS server and check the result.

  • How to restore broken links after server migration in Indesign CS3???

    Hi All,
I have used my google skills to no avail and everything I have read here has been a dead end for me. I can't be the only person in this situation, so hopefully someone can help!
My marketing department has reached the storage limits of our shared network drive. Located on this drive is our (HUGE) image library which acts as a single central respository serving up our indesign links (read here: we don't package files - to conserve space). We have decided that in an effort to create a true archive and have more space for our image library we need to migrate the library to a new 16 terabit Drobo (yay!).
The problem is that every INDD file that links to the current library will now suffer from broken links. We literally have hundreds of INDD files and thousands of links. The good news is...the file structure isn't changing at all! Just the server location is changing. Is there any way to to a batch update of the links that tells INDD to look for the exact same file path on a different drive?
    In short:
current image library (old server): marketing/image library/photos/products/multiple product folders
new image library (new server): drobo/image library/photos/products/multiple product folders
I want to point InDesign to the new server and have it pick up the file path without having to navigate to each and every file individually. Voila!
Is this even possible? Is there any 3rd party software to help? Other architechture solutions that might be suggested?
Thanks so much for the help!
    Alex

You can specify a platform-specific path name, or a path in a  platform-independent format known as universal resource identifier (URI)  notation, or Mac OS 9 path name (for Mac).
For example any of the following notations are valid:
    Windows
    c:\dir\file (Windows path name)
    /c/dir/file (URI path name)
//10.44.54.70/Test/images (uniform naming convention (UNC) path name of the form //servername/sharename)
    //Apple/Test/images
    \\10.44.54.70\Test\images (Windows path name)
    \\Apple\Test\images (Windows path name)
where 10.44.54.70 IP  address of the server, Apple -- DNS name of the server, Test -- share name
    Mac
The following examples assume that the startup volume is MacOSX, and that there is a mounted volume Remote.
/dir/file (Mac OS X path name)
    /MacOSX/dir/file (URI path name)
MacOSX:dir:file (Mac OS 9 path name)
    /Remote/dir/file (URI path name)
Remote:dir:file (Mac OS 9 path name)
Remote/dir/file (Mac OS X path name)
You can just copy a part of the path in Links panel and paste it to the script's dialog. In CS4, make sure to choose "Copy Platform Style Path" in context menu.
The case of the characters doesn’t matter: you can type both in upper and lowercase in the script's dialog. For example  — Test, test, TEST, TeSt — are all the same for the script.

  • Media missing after server migrate

    Greeting All,
I just help my friend migrate their server to another Mac. After migrate media and FCP project file. We found there are media missing via AFP sharing.
This was working fine in old server. We try SMB everything look fine but with terrible performance. Is there any we need fix in server end? Please advise.
    Thanks,

The view from the command line in Terminal.app is the canonical source for the files on a system, so I'd confirm that the path matches your expectations — you can drag file or folder icons from the Finder window directly into Terminal to get the path visible — enter a # to prevent accidental execution, then drag the file or folder icon right to the input line in Terminal — and confirm you're where you think you are.
Check that your date and time and your time zone are set correctly on all systems.
Per Apple, do not log directly into the server console with a network account.

  • Problems with desupported clients after server migration to 11.2.0.2

We are planning to migrate our database from 10.2.0.4 on Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) to 11.2.0.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit). Therefore we installed a test server and did a test migration of our development database instance. The migration itself worked quite well. Accessing the new test server using supported clients also succeded.
The problem is that we still have Windows clients in our company that have a (desupported) Oracle 7.3 Client and ODBC Driver (Oracle73 Ver 2.5, SQO32_73.DLL) installed. Each connection attempt by such a client (if they know the server's IP address and instance name) results in one server CPU core going to 100% CPU Usage. The clients gets an "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel." error. The core CPU usage stays at 100% until the database is shut down.
Setting "SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION = 10" in SQLNET.ORA does not solve the problem. It seems that the listener allows the connection and then something goes wrong before the connection can be blocked by SQL*NET.
Any ideas how to detect and prevent connection attempts by Oracle 7.3 clients at a lower level? I already did a lot of research on the net without finding a solution. Thanks in advance!

  • ICal clients not linking to iCal server after server migration to 10.6.1

Over the weekend I upgraded our server from 10.5.8 to 10.6.1. For almost everything the upgrade went flawlessly.
Except none of my iCal clients can connect. I get:
+"The server responded with an error.+
+The connection to the server (server name) was refused."+
Any ideas what might be causing it??

I think we need more information on what troubleshooting steps you've tried. For example, what pertinent messages, if any, are showing in the caldavd logs? Have you tried to telnet to the appropriate port on the server to ensure that it's open? Is there an SSL mismatch between the server and client? If you open iCal on the server itself and try to set up a CalDAV account, does that work?

  • Remote logon through SM59, datbase operations in target system

    Hello,
I am logging in remotely from sys1 to sys2. In sys2 there is a userexit
which triggers during the sap login i.e EXIT_SAPLSUF_001, in this exit i have written a select query
by which i will check a conditions ,depending on the condition it will display a popup.
So when we login individually that select query works.
But when login remotely from SM59 using RFC destination, it doesn;t work,
No database operations are working(Insert, select...etc)..
I am just wondering whether ...during the remote logon the database server will not connected yet/ initialized yet....
It would be great if someone can help me on this..
    Thanks&Regards,
    AR

There shouldn't be a problem with database, it's always up (if SAP is up).
Are you sure it's a problem with the SELECT ?
Can't it be a problem with the popup via RFC ? Because in SM59, if you enter a user which is neither dialog nor service, the popup won't be displayed (and a dump should occur if I remember well, check in ST22)

  • BW Steps before and after R3 server migration

    Hi Friends,
We are using ECC6 and BW 3.5.
My client is going for R3 server migration, yes it's just a migration of server and not any upgrade. This server is quite old so migrating to a higher end server.
BASIS will do a system copy during downtime i.e. a homogeneous client copy where they would just copy the DB tables. As per them all data will remain same and only the IP will change i.e. i will have to make a change in R3-BW RFC connection.
I need to know what other pre and post migration steps are involved in this case?
    Thanks,
    BJ

    Hi,
I dont think that there would be any impact on queues etc due to server migration. We flush out data from queues only in cases of upgrade/ patch application etc. because there is a chance that after the upgrade the structure of datasource may change. In that case, any data lying in queue beforehand would get corrupted and cannot be loaded.
in your case, there is no such change going to happen, therefore no need to worry about queues. You can go ahead without worrying about any dataloss due to queues.

You can remotely connect an exchange session and manipulate the mailbox permissions.  You do not load a snap-in except on the Exchange server.
    $Session=New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri http://<FQDN of Exchange 2013 Client Access server>/PowerShell/
    Import-PSSession $Session

We have a checklist we have to go through with the tasks listed. We have to keep to the account enabled until HR changes
the status which is usually 30-90 days depending. Managers sometimes need to access the accounts to retrieve information, etc. We put the users in an OU; once we are given permission from the manager we move forward in the removal.
