Small annoyance in iTunes 10

I've recently bought a few songs on iTunes. Usually when I buy a song off a particular album instead of the buy button it will say purchased. I like this feature so later if I want to complete the entire album I know what songs I haven't purchased yet. I've counted five songs that are not listed as purchased in the store. Two of the songs I've had a while and three I've bought in the last week. Is this a glitch in iTunes 10?

I am also having the declined issue. I even get it when I choose "NONE" for billing type! I get it from all my computers and my iPod touch. I have verified that my account is fine. I called tech support and they said that this was an issue with a lot of people, they don't know what the problem is and they're working on it.
Apple, keep in mind that every day you're still "working on it", you're losing a LOT of money. I've already spent over $30 in the last few days with Amazon.
If my company was losing that kind of money from multiple users... someone would be losing their job.
You might want to get this fixed ASAP.

  • Small Trailers on iTunes

I'm currently not a fan of movies on the new iTunes for two reasons:
    1. There's no small play icon in the lower right corner for movie trailers, you have to click through to the page for each movie just to watch the trailer.
    2. When I click the play button on any trailer, the screen I see is tiny. Does this happen to anyone else? I haven't figured out how to change the visual settings. I used to be able to view trailers full screen, now they are itty bitty and I hate it.
Anyone know how to fix the video size issue, or do I just have to deal with it?

I'm having *exact same problem*, both on Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 (64 bit).
Any ideas as to problem cause yet???

  • My annoyances with iTunes

Firstly, I love my iPod and I use iTunes all day but I have a few things that bother me about the software...
    1) why do I need to reboot after an upgrade? Cheez, I have my IDE open, a couple of Office docs, I am logged into several forums, plus pandora is playing... a reboot is so annoying and I don't see any reason for the need...
    2) is there no way to disable "QTTask.exe -atboottime" other than via the msconfig utility? I just don't want that bloody icon in my tray.. plus if I do watch a trailer once in a while with QuickTime it still works fine; and then I have to disable that darn tray thing again...
3)why do I need to have so many services running? (AppleMobileDeviceServe.exe, iPodService.exe, iTunesHelper.exe, and who knows how many more...) I mean can't you just run those services when I open iTunes? I don't want them running at any other time and disabling them caused me to have to do a complete reinstall of iTunes, so that's not an option.
Well, that is my rant. I am sure I am not the only one getting annoyed with this. iTunes is great but it could be better.
    Cheers,
    John

Ok, first of all, I'm not a fan of either I do appreciate the concept of the iTunes store, especially with iTunes plus.
From the replies I understand there are no settings in iTunes to disable background programs on startup; that's pretty awful in my opinion.
I loathe unnecessary background apps, at least give an option to disable them. I hope apple realizes this is a very important issue to a lot of people; for me it means installing / uninstalling iTunes for every download (Yes, seriously)

  • Small bug in iTunes 7.0.2 under MacOSX

    Hello,
since I installed latest itunes version (7.0.2) I have the following bug : after playing a song from the party shuffle list, another song is added to the recently played song (not the song I've just listened to...)... Very strange...
When a song is played from the library, then no problem, it is added correctly to the recently played song list.
Has anyone noticed the same thing??? Any solution to solve this?
Please note that iTunes is installed in French on my iMac. On my laptop (XP in English) I don't have the same issue : everything works perfectly on it...

This bug has been there for a long time.
You can work around it by making 'sub-playlists' and using them as one of the criteria in your 'main' playlist.
For example, I usually exclude audiobooks, christmas music, spoken word, and children's music genres from my playlists. So I made a playlist that includes all of those. and called it 'misc'. Then, in the other playlists I can simple add a criteria that says 'is not' in playlist 'misc'.

  • Small annoyance after migrating with Tiger

    Hello
I have recently had to purchase this iMac G5 computer (spec below) after being struck down with the Apple-recognised Video & Power problems on my eMac 1.25GHz.
Having updated iMac to OSX 10.4.8, I proceeded to use migrate assistant to copy over users, documents etc. from the limping eMac which worked succesfully.
The annoyance is that on now opening System Profiler, while all the descriptions of the iMac are correct in Hardware Overview, i.e. iMac G5, 2Ghz processer, etc. the heading bar says 'eMac'! This was the name given to the 'Macintosh HD' on the eMac.
Have I just migrated too much info? Can and how can I rectify? Don't want any reference to 'eMac' after the problems I had with it It's a new, much faster dawn for me!
    Thanks.

  • Predictive text: a small annoyance (yeah, another one :-P)

so, i did research for my issue, but the word that is being predictively changed is such a common one that i'm not getting any luck.
is anyone else but me getting "A's" when you want to write "as"? the second i enter the "s" after the "a", the suggestion pops up. if i don't delete it, i writes it as "A's" (grrr!)
i read that if you keep deleting the suggestion, it would eventually learn -- not here. i type-and-delete suggestions like 40 times and nothing.
    any idea?

Try going into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Keyboard Dictionary. That has been known to help, but the only thing I'm sure of is repeatedly entering the correct text and tapping the X when it suggests a change.

  • Small annoyance with safari

some website have menus that rely on a selection from another menu in the same page, i.e. catagory menu and sub catagory. i tried with demoniod.com
safari CRASHES, for a few seconds because of this, when i tried it in firefox it didnt crash, nor did it have any delay,

I'm not surprised that you find a third party application that or website that doesn't work with Safari since there are still websites that optimize for other browsers instead of Safari. So report the page to Apple using the Bug button or "Report Bugs to Apple..." from the Safari menu, but for the record, I have no trouble accessing the demonoid.com website but I'm not going to register just to test it out.

  • Syncing iPad with iTunes removes PDFs from iPad

Hi, this is only a small annoyance, but I'm hoping someone has a clever way to save me a few steps that I have to do every time I sync my iPad.
As a student, I use my iPad to download PDFs quite a lot, and I move them into "collections" to keep them sorted under the relevant subject. This all works fine until I sync my iPad. Then, because I have chosen to sync "selected books" instead of "all books" (there are way too many PDFs on my hard drive) all my new PDFs disappear from the iBooks app on the iPad, and they can't be located by name when using the "Search iPad" function either.
My workaround is fairly simple, I go to the "Books" tab for the iPad within iTunes, sort the books by date instead of title, and check all of the new PDFs that I still want to keep on the device. Then I sync again, and presto! They are back. Still, it seems a little silly that if I actually download the PDF on the device, there isn't an easier way to make these PDFs behave the same way that, after all, purchased music does on the iPad - it assumes by default that you will keep those songs synced, and you have to take steps to remove them.
Any thoughts? Is there some way to make a "smart playlist" of books & PDFs that are newly added, so that my old hordes of PDFs are kept off the iPad, while new ones are by default present, thus avoiding the risk that I forget to re-add them after syncing and find that they have disappeared?
    Thanks o wise ones!

  • Annoyances and suggestions

I love iTunes but theres just a few small things I would love to see in upcoming versions and I cant seem to find anywhere else to add suggestions. So here are mine:
Add the ability to delete files, as of currently you can delete files IF they are podcasts or otherwise files that itunes has imported on its own like downloaded music etc. In my case many of my music files were imported from the "my Music" folder and are not abile to be directly deleted from within iTunes.
Automaticly watch a folder. such as "my Music" in the event new music files are added I would love it if iTunes would update its library so that Iwouldnt have to import the folder every time I get a new song in there.
Radio streaming messages. When the connection to a radio station cuts out for any reason iTunes pops up a small dialog showing buffer progress etc and tellign you whats going on, this gets extremely anoying at times as this dialog takes focus and causes my typing etc to jump to it rather than the program I was typing in.
"LCD" Display area. The small display in the top center of iTunes is wonderful, I love it, just one small issue. When itunes is either updating my ipod, or downloading new podcasts etc it automaticly switches the display to show the progress of those tasks. If I switch back to my current track name it switches back to the task progress within only a second or two. This is just a small annoyance, I would like it to stay on the information I switch it to.
Again I love iTunes and am a huge mac fanatic and just as soon as I get the money saved up I'm getting a new MacBook Pro.. These are meerly suggestions in hopes to make iTunes even better.
    Thanks.
Anyone else with suggestinos should add to this post too, maybe we can create a good suggestions area.

  • "Playlists no longer exsist" message in iTunes when syncing my iPod Mini

Whenever I plug my mini into my itunes the error message: "songs cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
I've tried restoring and reinstalling the software but it doesn't seem to be working. What's going on?

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Mini. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Can't sync my iPod Touch with iTunes, get -50 error message

Does anybody know what -50 means? This pops up when I first plug it into my Mac, and all it says is "cannot be synced due to an unknown error (-50). First thing iTunes tries to do is backup my iPod, then that message turns up. I tried upgrading to the latest iPod software (2.2.1, I think), which didn't help; I'm running iTunes 8.0.2 (I think; that print is light and really small under "About iTunes").
I have not tried anything like restoring the iPod yet-I wanted to check first before doing anything, and the other thing that I noticed is that I can't restart my iPod by holding down the Home key (according to Apple's own support page). I never get the red slider. Any ideas on that?
    Thanks so much,
    Kathleen

OK, I wound up going to my local Genius Bar, and here's what we did:
    1) reinstalled iTunes ...still didn't sync
    2) repaired disk permissions...same thing
    3) created a new user account on my MacBook and checked to see if my iPod touch would sync then...it did
    4) went back to my user account, re-restored my iPod Touch and deleted the iPod backup file...and then it synced. At this point, it looked like it was a corrupted backup file.
When I got home and hooked it up to let it finish syncing, I realized that none of my photos had been transferred to my iPod touch, so I told it to...and the -50 error came up again. Another round of restoring the iPod and deleting the backup file, then I told it to load my photos from the My Pictures folder, rather than from iPhoto (which was the original setting before all this happened)...and it was fine. So my guess is that something in iPhoto 6 is tripping up the iTunes software (or vice versa) and screwing up the backup/sync process. I'll continue to keep an eye on it and see if that holds.
Thanks to Ariel at the Genius Bar in the Apple Store at the Menlo Park Mall, Edison, NJ! You were a great help, and thanks for your patience!

  • Migration Assistant problem? : New iMac's iTunes doesn't see the catalog or playlist of my old Mac's songs on an external drive

    So I just migrated from a 10.7.5 iMac 27" from 2009 to 10.9.4 on a 2013 27" iMac with Fusion Drive.
I don't use Time Machine. There are no backups involved here.
Used Ethernet. Only took 20 hours... (BTW, it stayed on "less than 1 minute left" for like 12 hours but luckily I was away and just left it going in hopes it would work... and it did!)
Anyway, back on my OLD iMac, I kept all of my songs on an external drive because my internal drive was too small. So iTunes looked at that drive for the music it was playing. I turned that drive off, even disconnected it, during the migration process because I thought it was confusing it during the first attempt which took 10 hours and nothing happened.
So now it worked, finally. On my new iMac, running Mavericks, I now have two user accounts... the one that was set up when I started the computer the first time, and the new one that transferred over via Migration Assistant. No problem. I can live with that. The only thing is, I would still think the old XML files and library stuff would migrate over... but iTunes doesn't see it. When I open up iTunes, in *either* account, iTunes behaves as if it's brand new. Repeat: the old and new account on the new iMac, both, do not see an old iTunes library which IS on the old iMac. Only the music is on the external drive from what I understand.
I've done this before so I know it's possible. I remember upgrading a long time ago and got iTunes to see my old library... even though some of the music was no longer there. It just puts "!" marks wherever there is no link. I was hoping that that's what I would find when I launched iTunes, but no luck. Even connecting the old hard drive to the new Mac (via USB) doesn't make iTunes all of a sudden "see" the old library. That data doesn't seem to be there. It didn't transfer over. Did it not transfer over because the songs weren't on the internal volume? Should I have left my external hard drive on?
So.... now that I've spent almost 3 days total trying to get this to work, and everything is running... I don't want to have to start over in order to get iTunes to work.  Is there a way I can just drag over some XML files or something from the old computer? I don't want to lose all of the ratings and personal notes and everything.
I should add also that I have like only four songs I've ever actually bought through iTunes. I'm still a bit old fashioned and buy CDs and rip them to Apple Lossless. So I hope it's not an authorization / reauthorization issue because I have like 1400 albums ripped.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    --Jeff

iTunes does not use the .xml it uses the .itl
If you are sure your old library file migrated across (does the file size and modification dates suggest it has?) start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the .itl file to get it to use that one.
