Small iCal calendar for my website

Good afternoon,
I'm not sure if this can be done at all but it's worth a shot.
I currently have an iCal calendar on the Events & Trips on my website (www.njnaturenotes.com). It's perfect in as far as it seems to do exactly what I need it to do. No problems there.
However, can I also add a small calendar, like the one that appears on the bottom left of my iCal page (approximately 2" x 2"), in which just the dates are highlighted for the current month and indicating the dates when there's an event? If so, would this be a "live" calendar that would update whenever I update my main calendar in iCal?
I would love to be able to have this in place of the (approximately the same size but that can be adjusted) frame near the top right of my websites main page where it says "Watch for the next big event."
If this can be done, can I have both this one and the main calendar that now resides on the Events & Trips page?
Thanks for ANY help.
Rich

As best I understand it Zend is a scheme for locking or
obscuring the code
so it can't be manipulated.

  • Publishing iCal calendars for non iCal users?

Firstly I guess I should set out the ideal solution I want to acheive.
I am looking for a way to publish calendars from iCal to my hosting server which will be viewable by PC/non iCal users via a web browser. I'd have to do it via ftp as my servers do not currently support WebDav.
Currently I have managed to publish the calendars which are viewable via a browser which appear as a list of code rather than as a calendar.
Is there a way to do this using iCal or, dare I mention, another calendar/organiser software package?
    PowerMac G5 2.5Ghz Dual + G4 1.67Ghz Powerbook 1Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   20Gb 1st Generation ipod still working well!

    Hello Julian,
Thanks for this. Excellent solution and pretty straight forward to set up. Wish I'd had this years ago.
    Cheers again

  • A way to do  a small search engine for company website?

I am developing a website for a small to mid-size company. In the main page, there is going to have a search form. Anyone can trype in sth, server will search all the information in the server, then show any related information.
What is the best way to do it?
    I am thinking useing:
    1. javaApplet(java) + MS access
    2. servlet + MS Access
are these methods ok? Any code or example for reference?
    Thanks in advance!

A few questions for you, should you decide to continue along your own implementation path.
You mentioned using MS Access and Java. Does this mean you have free access to the server you are implementing this on? Most of the code required for Java on the web requires a less industry standard solution than that provided by typical hosting companies.
Just on a side note, if you are running your own box, I would suggest using something besides MS Access. In my experience, the driver support for access leaves something to be desired, although my experiments with it have grown a bit dusty.

  • Is it possible to sync multiple mobileme accounts onto the iphone, syncing ical calendars for these multiple mobile me accounts ?

I am trying to sync two mobileme accounts into my iphone and each account have different calendars ( all being with ical NOT CALDAV).
Now, my question is can I sync these different calendars, belonging to different mobileme accounts, into the iphone? please assist me on this matter.
Basically i want to have a work calendar  to share with my colleagues and a personal calendar to share just with my friends and family.

You are correct.  This used to work in the past although admittedly I haven't tried it for some time as it was of no direct use for my purposes.
If the goal is to see another MobileMe account's calendar(s) on your iOS device then an alternative would be to share the calendar(s) in question to yourself.
    Example:
Assume you currently have MobileMe user account A on your iPhone.
Login to MM user account B with me.com which has the calendar you wish to have access to on your iPhone
    Click on Calendars
Click on the Share button for the calendar you wish to see added to your iPhone.
Type in the MobileMe email address for MM user account A and set it for read & write access
Login to MM user account A on me.com
Go to calendars and accept the invitation to join the calendar you sent from MM account B
Go your iPhone (you may need to turn it on and off to make the calendars refresh ) and check your calendars, you should now have the other calendars added to your MobileMe account A's calendar
Note: You can repeat step # 3 for each of the calendars you wish to see on your iPhone.

  • One iCal calendar for an entire wireless network?

My GF and I have an iMac, Mac Book and Mac mini on our home wireless network and would like to input tasks/events and manage one calendar from any of these computers in the home.  I know we could simply keep our calendar on Google and sync it to iCal to achieve this but what is the simple way to do this using iCal alone?

You need to set the security type in your router. It's probably accessed with a web browser at 192.168.1.1, however check for instruction provided with the router.

Here are other recommended router settings and what they mean.

  • Set a Default Calendar for New Appointments in iCal?

I never found a post with a sufficient answer to this question. However, it seems as though I may have stumbled on a resolution myself.
iCal has it's own default calendars: Home and Work. I use MobileMe so the MoblieMe calendar is listed there as well. I also have an iPhone 4. I wanted all calendars to syncronize automatically when I create a new appointment on any of the 3 locations (laptop, cloud, or phone). I found that when create a new event in iCal on my macbook pro, it wouldn't update with mobileme or my phone. This was because when I double click to create a new event, iCal automatically puts the new event into my "Home" calendar, even though it was unchecked and not highlighted. As soon as I double click to create the new event, iCal's default kicks in and the Home calendar in the "On My Mac" section suddenly becomes checked and highlighted all by itself and the new event is automatically placed there, never to be updated with the cloud or on my phone.
I think the problem may be related to something I read under "How Do I Set a Default Calendar for New Appointments in iCal?" There a solution given was that the uppermost calendar was being defaulted to and it was suggested to drag the desired calendar to the uppermost position. None of my calendars would drag anywhere. However, I find that if I uncheck Home and Work in the column on the left under "On My Mac" AND then click the arrow so those two calendars are hidden (very important), and then check and highlight the only showing calendar: MobileMe, that (so far) when I doulbe click to create a new event, a new event is created in the MobileMe calendar, and Home and/or Work under the "On My Mac" section never becomes checked or highlighted. So the new event is created only in the MobileMe calendar listed and updates on my laptop, in the cloud, and on my phone.
So far that has been my experience; but, it has been only minutes since I tried that, so let's see what happens after a couple of weeks or so of normal use and see if the problem is actually resolved.

I have been searching for this information for weeks now -- thank you!
This works for Google Calendar as well as for Mobile Me. I'm going to type a little more information here to see if I can help this answer come up more quickly for other users when they keyword search as I was doing.
This answer helped me reset and change the default calendar for iCal. I can now set my Google Calendar as the default calendar in iCal. When I create a new event in iCal, it syncs to Google Calendar as the default calendar without having to choose another calendar. All my iCal new events now go directly to Google Calendar and sync to my iPhone and iPad. I couldn't move the gmail google calendar to the top position, and just unchecking Home and Work didn't change where new events defaulted. Now my new events automatically go from iCal to google calendar, and I don't lose track of any events. I think you can set any calendar as the default iCal calendar for new events using this approach.

  • Setting default opening date for iCal calendar to be some future date?

Is it possible to set the default date at which an iCal calendar opens to be some specified future date?
I want to enter multiple events for a week-long program that begins on November 1, 2008, into a special iCal calendar for that program, as the dates and times for those events become known between now and then. So, each time I click on that calendar's icon, I'd like to have it open at 1 Nov 08, instead of having to step forward to that date each time I re-open the calendar.
    Any way to do this?

    christ. no answer to this?
i just did this on a trip to boston and i /thought/ i had it fixed when i went to paris recently.
perhaps getting a new motherboard on my MBP means i have to set my settings again to get this to work? does anyone know if this only works by setting a /combination/ of settings on iCloud and in iCal preferences...?

  • Ical calendar how to embed into webpage

Using iWeb I successfully published my iCal calendar to my website. However suddenly my embedded calendar stopped showing any entries. I understand this is due to the changes in the mobileme calendar. Can I restore the previous very useful facility? Or do I have to switch to Google calendar? It a resource that I found very useful for clients wanting to see when I was available and I am sure many other users use a facility like this.  must say that Apple have annoyed me over this. It was not easy finding how to embed the calendar in the first place and now they seem to have downgraded the mobileme calendar. I thought the general trend was to improve applications not the reverse.
Any help would be much appreciated

I don't believe you can restore that capability.
You can add a Google calendar to a web page (it's scaleable whereas the iCal calendar was not) and then sync your iCal calendar to the Google calendar with Google Sync Services.  An example is shown on this demo page: Google Calendar.

  • ICal calendars Apple used to provide are no longer available - used to be on .mac

Does anyone know if the old subscriptions for the origial ical calendars for holidays and such have been moved from the old .mac service since it no longer exists? Or do I need to get my hard-copy calendar and add holidays to ical?

Many of the calendars that were listed on the Apple site were hosted on ical.mac.com, which of course is dead in the water. It's up to the authors of those calendars to find another webcal server, and until they do this the calendars won't be available: most of these calendars are third-party. There are some alternatives which do work, for example http://www.hebcal.com/

  • Cannot drag reminders onto iCal calendar error

    Hi there,
I am on the latest updates for my Mac and iPhone 4s.
iCloud syncs perfectly. No complaints there.
My iCal (iCloud) calendar set up on my Mac are as follows:
    Work
    Personal
    Admin
    Meetings
To make it easier for me to associate the same as my calendar names on my iCal on my Mac.
I have created Reminder Calendar using the same iCal Calendar for both name and color.
However on my iCal on the Mac, when I drag any Reminder to the iCal calendar, there is an error prompt pop up.
The Server responded with an error
"https://p03-caldav.icloud.com:443/192932320/principal/ is not a location that supports this request."
    [Go Offline]  [Revert to Server]
Check the screenshot  image I have uploaded.
Why is this happening? Is there a way I can set up so it won't have this problem?
I even tried to change the names on my Reminder list in case it clashes with my iCal Calendars...but still same error appears.

I get a similar problem, except mine says my iCloud password is incorrect (which isn't true, as everything else still syncs nicely).
It seems like it only happens when i drag a reminder over into the calender: it's a minor problem, but it is irritating (i use my calendar for loads of different projects that i have running simultaneously, and i like to keep track of how many hours i've spent on each project, by allocating my time to each reminder).

  • How do I decline an invite on a shared ical calendar?

My team uses a shared iCal calendar for our team events.  How can you decline an event in a shared calendar without deleting it completely off the calendar for everyone else?

I don't personally use shared calendars, but this article appears to address your question: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2683.

  • Anglican iCal calendar

I have been trying to search for an iCal calendar for any Anglican church holidays, but coming up empty.  Was hoping someone might point me in the right direction.
    Thanks

Just found this mate - was looking for an Anglican one myself.  Shows the saints days too of which are also in the Protestant calendars.  Imports easily into your calendar :)

  • Is Apple still allowing developers to submit iCal calendars?

Does ANYONE know if Apple still allows ANY level of Developer (usually in the Mac or Mac OS category) to submit free, public iCal calendars that we've created?
For some reason, the SUBMIT buttons to such have DISAPPEARED from all public Downloads/Support Downloads/Widgets/Web Apps pages on Apple's web site (these were usually reference badges/links)!
We've submitted iCal calendars for public posting (upon approval, of course) before, usually annually, and the public Apple page to DOWNLOAD them is here:
    <http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/>
Even when logged in as a Developer, internally we are not finding any references or links to do so.
The last, most recent entry or submitted calendar I see here is from November, 2010 -- ??
Thanks in advance for any confirmation or help.

No, it is not possible yet, but in a few weeks it will be when Apple releases Mac OS X 10.5 and a completely rewritten iCal, which will be CalDAV compliant. You can get a sneek peek at the 'new' iCal here…

  • How can I find the URL for an iCal calendar in iCloud so I can make a link to it on a web page.

I have a single iCal calendar that I want people to access through my webpage.  How can I find the URL so that they can view the calendar without having to subscribe to it.  I converted to iCloud from .Mac and I can see that changes to this calendar are not showing up.

Mmmh.. i see... I don't know wether it is possible for people just check calendars without subscribing to them... I have been sharing some calendars in my website (maybe you can have a look at it in order to check wether it could be a possible solution for you)

  • Displaying iCal web-based calendar on my website, like I do with Google cal

I know that I can publish iCal and get a URL and send the URL to people, but I want to do more than that like I do with Google calendar. I want to be able to embed the calendar into one of my webpages and have it automatically updated. I can do this with Google calendar. Google calendar provides me the HTML code to embed their calendar on my website. Can I do this with iCal?

Yeah, I was under the impression that unless I 'invited' people to see it I would have to use a 'public' calendar, which I think may have to be the answer. I guess I shall have to try that and see how it works for me. Functionally you are right it does work, whilst I kept it private however people still weren't seeing it on the website unless I invited them, so I assume the public one will just appear as intended, but I wasn't sure about the consequences of mine being public, guess I should just push on and see what happens.
    Thanks for the reply..
