Small picture problem with .jpg

When I have jpg pictures in the Final Cut timeline, they sort of jump, almost imperceptibly, when there's a transition....is there a way to prevent that? It's quite annoying...

When you double click on the transition and it opens in the viewer, make sure the start is 0% and end is 100%.

  • Problem with JPGs Downlaoded with Nikon Transfer - Can't Apply Develop Settings in Bridge CS4 and ACR 5.3 Settings Don't Stick

I have found what I believe is a "problem" with JPGs downloaded using Nikon Transfer (ver 1.4.1) and processing same in Adobe Bridge CS4 (Develop Settings) and/or Adobe Camera Raw 5.3 (Photoshop CS4 and Elements 6 as hosts).
Anyone using these programs in their workflow?
The problem, quite simply, is that neither ACR settings (nor Bridge CS4 Develop Settings) "stick" when applied to JPGs that have been downloaded via Nikon Transfer ver 1.4.1.
The same images from the same cameras (D300 and D90), downloaded moments later using Nikon's predecessor software PictureProject work just fine in both Bridge and ACR.  Develop Settings appled in Bridge immediately are seen, and JPGs opened in ACR, and settings applied, then "Done" immediately stick and are reflected in Bridge.
If someone else is processing their JPGs in this manner, please let me know, as I have reported the problem to both Nikon and Adobe, and although I have tested it on two different cameras and two differnt laptops, I would like to get an impartial result as well.
One other test, the problem does not seem to affect Nikon's RAW (NEF) format files downloaded from a D2x using Nikon Transfer.  More/different test are forthcoming.
    Thanks

Can't say one way or another on that statement about using manufacturers' software.  Since Adobe has to interpret each camera models' RAW format having the latest ACR seems to be the best option.  But if the manufacturers' software is more convenient, and you get the same results then use it.  But it does appear you are not getting what you want, so suggest you try a duplicate test run with images straight from the card reader to Bridge and see if you still have same problems.
I do know it is widely recommended that using a quality card reader gives you more reliable data than getting the pictures straight from the camera.  Does not seem intuitive, but that has been experience of many.

  • Problems with jpg export and color profiles

I browsed the forum but I didn't find any recent thread about the issue I'm experiencing right now, I wonder if it's common or it just affects me. Mavericks, Aperture 3.5, all up-to-date.
I imported a RAW file (I tried with both a Nikon and a Sony camera), made a few adjustements and then exported the picture as a jpg. It looked good in the Finder, in Photoshop, in Preview. When I uploaded the file to flickr, everything was ok.
Then, I browsed flickr via its iOS app and - surprise - the image is completely wrong: colors are washed out, desaturated, with an awful greenish dominance. I tried a few things and discovered soon that also opening the file on my Mac with GraphicConverter has the same ugly result. Same with the iOS version of Safari.
I use ProPhoto RGB as my default color space in Aperture. I changed to sRGB: same result. I changed to AbobeRGB and te output is finally consistent through all the platforms and apps.
Too bad I managed to do this only for one photo because, even if I changed the settings, every other photo I exported is still sticking with ProPhoto RGB. The problem is surely here because I solved it changing manually the color space to AdobeRGB with Pixelmator and re-saving the images one by one. But of course this cannot be a successful workflow...
    Any experience about this?
    Thank you!

OK, I can reply to myself. The issue has mysteriously gone away - no idea why. Edit: The issue is gone on Desktop, with GraphicConverter. From iOS, pictures still look weird.
About the exported default, my bad: I was using presets and they choose their own settings for color space. Still, no idea why the first one was exported in Adobe RGB instead of ProPhoto RGB (the default for "JPEG - fit within 2048x2048").

  • CS4 Small Video Problem with Card Update

    OS: Vista 64
    CPU: AMD x2 64 4800+
    MB: Asus A8N SLI Premium
    RAM: Corsair Extreme 4GB
    CS4 Photoshop
First Video Card: BFG 7800 GTX 512MB
New Video Card: AVG GTX 260 (210) Superclocked 896MB
I had no problem with the Open GL acceleration with my old card.
I just upgraded my video card to the above and now I'm getting a small problem. I have the newest drivers from the nVidia website for the GTX 260.
When I move my mouse around the Photoshop work space flickers and flashes a little intermittently as I move the mouse around. I turned off GL Acc. and I still have the problem.
    Any ideas?

    Bob,
You are correct. Once upon a time I had the Canopus DVStorm with Premiere 6.x and it worked great (and a DVRaptor before that). Then came Premiere Pro and the problems that the DVStorm had were insurmountable so I dumped it and got the RTX-100 which was reputed to be about as good as the DVStorm was in the past. Was I disappointed! It just did not work reliably, hangs, BSOD's, unresponsivess and then when PR CS2 came out you effectively had to get the RTX.2, which was paramount to throwing the RTX.100 down the drain. It seemed to me that with every new version of CSx you needed to get a new Matrox card at extravagant prices for what it offered and still had to wait very long for decent drivers to come out. It just wasn't worth the effort anymore. And when you look here at problems that people experience, the common denominator is usually the Matrox card. So, yes, I am glad I got rid of it and found a very useful purpose for the card: a doorstopper, which must have been the intention of the engineers to start out.
About Win7: No, I did not have any doubts at all, but in my case I was lucky enough to have a high level network consultant with all kinds of certificates and an impressive experience to advise me and he juist plain told me: "You DON'T want Vista!!! GET WIN7!!! I have been using it for several RC's and it is a revelation." Now after installing and using it for some time, I can only agree.

  • Problem with jpg & text box links????  HELP!!!!!!!

    Hi All,
I have a perplexing problem with creating some links. I created a button using the shapes tools, I use the command/shift/4 to capture the image I created, I go to photoshop, edit it, then save it as a jpeg, put it into my site, make it a link, publish the site .... then nothing. The link won't work. Any other jpeg image i put in easily converts to a link if I desire, why won't this?
Also, I have read on here that you can use a transparent text box over text to create a link without having to convert the actual text and get the annoying underline, etc. that come with it. Any idea how to do this?
    Appreciate your help.

The process that you describe should work exactly like that. I'm not sure what the issue is with those buttons. Do you have a URL where we can take a look at one of these buttons? It may be that they are getting obscured by something else maybe?
Also, I have read on here that you can use a transparent text box over text to create a link without having to convert the actual text and get the annoying underline, etc. that come with it. Any idea how to do this?
This is true. You can always overlay a SHAPE and change its opacity in the Inspector Graphics tab to 1% in order to make it transparent. It has to be 1% or more, though...zero doesn't work. Also, if the text that you want hyperlinked or hotspotted is in a textbox all by itself, then you can also attach the hyperlink to the textbox itself instead of selecting the text in the textbox. That will also avoid the underline....but it works only if the text is in a textbox all by itself.

  • Problem with JPGs after Tiger upgrade

Hi, I normally get answers from this excellent forum by searching, but I can't find anyone who's had the same problem.
I have a Lacie d2 firewire hard drive, which I've had since I was using a G3 iMac running OS9 (gradually updated to the last version). When I bought a shiny new G5 running Panther everything worked fine and all my existing files opened without any problem. Since upgrading to Tiger, however, I now find that some (not all) JPG picture files that I saved on the external drive with OS9 appear as unix executable and can't be opened. To make matters worse, when I open those files that I can (in Preview), if I make any changes and save, the new version gets saved as a unix executable! Also, I've found some heavily edited images where the thumbnail now shows the ORIGINAL (pre edited) version of the picture - even when the edited version came from someone else and I never had the original!!
I've now found that the same thing is happening wih pictures on the memory stick duo that I use in my mobile phone, again only with ones that I dragged there with OS9.
Any ideas on this confusing problem would be very much appreciated.

First question: do the files have the .jpg extension?
Second: is the memory stick formatted as FAT32?
This problem usually crops up because there is a difference in the way OS 9 and OS X store the resource information on a FAT32 volume. Without a resource it can read, and without a .jpg extension, OS X can reach the conclusion that the file in question is a UNIX executable. It should work if you simply add the .jpg extension to the name. When you open and save evidently you are still not getting the extension added to the file name.

  • Picture problem with developer 6i

    Hi all
I am using BLOB data type for storing a picture in oralce 9i database server. I have image type item on my forms (Developer 6i). I am using following code to add picture to my image item.
    READ_IMAGE_FILE('mypicture.bmp','bmp','CAMPUS_PICTURE.PHOTO_PIC');
Data is successfully saved in database. But when I retrieve the data, picture is not displayed. Similarly image gives error on reports.
Same data type is working perfectly with oracle 8i and developer 6i.
Can any one tell me the reason and how to save picture in database using BLOB?
    Regards
    Vijay.

    Hi,
You need to use SQL*Net to communicate between the 8.0.6 home (used for Developer) and the 8.1.7 home used by the database. Make sure the TNS listener is started for the database and use the SQL*Net alias (don't leave the Database field blank) when connecting using Developer.
    Regards.
    Robert.
I have successfully installed Oracle 8i enterprize edition 8.1.7.0.0 on Windows 2000 professional and it is working fine.
    But
When I have installed Developer 6i, The Developer 6i is not communicating with the 8i database. What wrong am i doing.
I have installed developer 6i on different oracle home as advised by my friend, and some other stuff also as exporting the registry key of oracle in hkey local machine and after installing developer 6i importing the exported registry key, But By all doing this I am still not able to connect to oracle 8i database,
    What i'm doing wrong.
If any one knows the problem Please send a reply.
    Thanks in advance

  • Pages PDF picture problem with Adobe

OK, background--I'm trying to print a simple poster. I've always just worked up in Pages, saved as PDF (either through the print function or the export function inherent in Pages), then scooted off to Kinkos.
Today, when I got there, they opened on their Dell, read the PDF through Adobe and the picture was a negative image (or that's how it appeared to me).
Kind of freaked me out, but so I can home and checked here on my Mac and in Preview, the PDF looks perfect. Hmmm, I think, so I go to "open with" in Adobe and ITS A NEGATIVE ON MY MAC TOO!
    Grrrr.
I thought the entire point of a PDF was to save exactly what you saw in whatever application you were working with. I checked the file name, nothing weird there. I went into help and I searched the forums.
I believe it must be something with my .jpgs, but I can't figure out what. Any ideas into this strangeness??

Figured it out. I'm just posting in case this happens to someone else or in case someone else has an easier solution than what I found.
I drug the original jpgs to "GraphicConverter" (my go to graphics program). When it opened, it said the original was in "CMYK" format, but that GC would save it as RGB.
What I remembered was that the offending graphics (that adobe messed up) all came from the same place--a design friend who did some work for me and the made jpgs so I could use his work in other places.
i replaced the original pics with these new RGB only pics, saved, exported, tested in Adobe, and voila, there it was.
So, simple observation, Pages and Preview both are very comfortable using a jpg that has CMYK as the basis of it, while Adobe is not. Figures the non-Mac product couldn't handle the curve ball.
    Anyway, off to Kinkos again.

  • PSE 6 problem with JPG extension

I have just scanned and edited 3 photos without trouble.  However, when I go to print them, I can't.  The program has not given them an extention, even though I saved them as JPG.  I have tried doing it over twice now, but it's not working.  I've never had this problem until the updates last night.  What's going on?
    Thanks,
    Nichole (CallaLilly1975)

I'm not sure what the updates were.  My husband was on when they were done.
    Windows
I try to print from the File menu in the Edit screen.  I do everything here.
    I edited with Elements.
    Thanks.

  • Small(hopefully) Problem with 5:1 headphones on audigy 2

I recently purchased a Razer Barracuda headset and there seems to be a small problem. Ive got all of the plugs in their color-coded slot but the left and right channel seem to be backwards. Any help would be appreciated.

    Krypto,
Center channel works fine for me in all modes.
    I turned on WMP 0 with a few mp3's. CMSS, CMSS + EAX Effect, CMSS2, CMSS2 + Effect. I went through several effects w/ CMSS & 2.
I did notice a couple things that could be affecting you though. I have the CMSS "Fader" for lack of a better term.. it moves the stereo focus from front speakers to back speakers.. set to 0%, which is balanced between front and back. Also, in the EAX Effect pane there this the effect amount. When I played w/ these two sliders and different effects, I noticed the center speaker did get very faint at times. Sometimes all that could be heard was reverb or echo.
Maybe it's the unique combination of CMSS setting and effect amount, plus the type of center speaker you have just not getting enough power?
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Problems with JPGs that have been exported from InDesign

I have used InDesign CS4 for years and recently been upgraded to the Creative Cloud package, I have gone from a PC to a MAC as well.
The problem seems to be when I export a document in InDesign to a JPG file, when I try and use the JPG in other applications such as Powerpoint (for the Mac), the jpg isn't highlighted as an option to insert...like it hasn't been recognised.
I also recently had a problem uploading some jpg photos I had edited and exported to jpg and tried to upload to Snapfish and although I have done this many times before, it said my jpg file was corrupt.
No virus, or anything like that.
Does anyone know whether you can tweak the 'export' settings for indesign, I wondered if it was a compatibility issue?
    Anyone help me?
    Thanks

    gillybardo wrote:

Well of course, there are the settings in InDesign's JPEG Export dialog, but there, all you can really do is make sure you're writing a "baseline" JPG in RGB mode. (Disclaimer: I haven't seen the 'CC' dialog, so there may be more about which I'm unaware.)
...when I try and use the JPG in other applications such as Powerpoint (for the Mac), the jpg isn't highlighted as an option to insert...like it hasn't been recognised.
That sounds like it could be a Microsoft Office issue. Can you insert a JPG that isn't the product of InDesign export? This is also why I mentioned RGB. I've seen Office apps choke on or ignore CMYK JPG's.
The number of posts in this forum on the subject of InDesign's JPEG export is unsettling to me. I truly believe it's a case of "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." Maybe I was "raised differently," figuratively speaking, but it would have never occurred to me to develop a workflow around the regular/routine export of raster images from my page layout application. If JPEG is my intended output, InDesign is the last application I'd reach for, perhaps unless I had a rare and specific need of a raster image depicting an InDesign-originated page layout. But even then, chances are I'd export from InDesign to PDF, then rasterize that by opening in Photoshop. If you need full control over raster image output, Photoshop is the much better bet.

  • IOS 7 Filtered Pictures Problem with iPhoto/Aperture

When I take a "filtered" picture with my iphone 5/iOS 7 it comes out fine. And when I look at the image either in the camera roll or in Photo Stream on any of my devices it still looks "filtered". However, when I open up Photo Stream on my iMac in either Aperture or iPhoto it is just a normal "non-filtered" shot. Anyone have any ideas of why this is happening?
    Thanks.

IOS 7 is not a Mac program and the upgrade made no changes of any sort to your Mac software
IOS has many features teh the Mac does not and the Mac likewise has many features that IOS does not
If you want my guess it is that the next version of OS and iPhoto 9if there is one) will address this - for now it is waht it is and it has nothing to do with iPhoto for the Mac - it is a new feature on IOS 7 - will it becone a new feature on the Mac - maybe - maybe not - my guess is yes - but until it does it is only available on IOS devices - not an unusual situation

  • Picture-in-picture problem with Premiere Pro

Hi - I'm superimposing a a number of clips over the top of each other and using crop, feather and opacity to blend them all together.  All looks and plays fine within Premiere Pro but any export I try shows the edges of each clip's full frame (where I have repositioning a clip) even though I am heavily cropped in (and feathered) on every clip.  Any suggestions as to how not to have the edge of frame?
    Nick

Might be a bug, but we probably would have heard of it by now.
Have you applied any transparency changes to the clips?
I am just trying to see if we could possibly replicate the issue. Grasping at straws.
No need to export the clips, just put them into their own sequence and bring the sequence back in. That might help.

    Hi,
For some time now I have problems with jpgs on some Internet sites. They don't show up properly. But only on this MAC, every other computer is ok. Here is a screencap of what I see:

It happens only on specific websites but now it also happens on MY OWN website (http://www.patrickeischen.com)! I didn't change a thing on this page, it was ok 'til now.
I use Firefox & Safari. Can anybody please help me?

Cant use the link to your screencap, -wants login info.
What do the jpgs look like? Sometimes I get a small square and question mark on some webpages where images should show but I just fault the webpage, or internet. Sometimes a reload works.
Sounds like a software glitch on your PM G5, Have you repaired permissions recently?
