Small print on monitor (and when I print)

Ever since I installed Acrobat Reader 9 and updated the associated software, the pdf files I down load are to small for me to read and I don't seem to find the way to resolve the problem. I've tried using page and zoom, I am running XP Pro and the latest Explorer. Any suggestions

So what happens when you use zoom? Does the text not get bigger?

Try a reset (click on that down pointing arrow) and also  if you have a Mac, toggle the green resize button. It usually forces Bridge to resize to the screen.
If worse comes to worse, reset Bridge's Preferences as explained here: Troubleshoot errors, freezes | Adobe Bridge | Windows, Mac OS
When I use a external larger monitor, I select just that monitor.

Open Contacts and click Preferences on the menu named Contacts. On the General tab of the Preferences window, select Show First Name: Before Last Name and then print. You can change that Preference back to the other way after printing if desired.

  • Language Monitors and Bi-directional Printing: What functionality is lost when disabling? What else uses them?

Server OS: Windows 2008 R2 Standard
Function: Primary Domain Controller and Print Server
Clients: All are running Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit SP1
We're considering disabling the HP Universal Print Driver Language Monitor and in-turn Bi-directional Printing due to potential server spooler instabilities, before we do this the IT Manager wants to be sure:
    1. What functionality is lost when disabling Language Monitors and Bi-directional Printing?
    2. What else uses Language Monitors and Bi-directional Printing them? In other words what may break?
    3. What specifically do Language Monitors and Bi-directional Printing provide?
    Thanks

    Alan (or anyone else):
We're testing disabling the language monitor/bidirectional printing for one particular printer.
Can I confirm this is the procedure for disabling a particular print queue's Language Monitor and Bidirectional Printing? -
    1. Locate the relevant Language Monitor registry key in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
Either delete or rename the registry key (so it cannot be found), in my case: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\HPMLM121
I renamed it to have the date at the end (HPMLM121_2015-01-29).
    2. Inside the above registry key is a DLL file mentioned under the DRIVER reference. In my case it's called: hpmlm121.dll.
I searched the entire C drive on the server and this was only found in C:\Windows\System32. I moved this elsewhere out of C:\Windows and also renamed the DLL too.
Therefore preventing Windows from being able to find/use it.
    3. I then unticked Bidirectional Printing Support in the Printer Properties Ports tab of the printer in question.
    4. Lastly either restart the server (or stop/restart the Spooler service).
I've done all this and the HP Print Notifications for Replace Cartridge etc... are still active.
    Any idea why this is?
    Thanks

Can someone tell me how to fix these problems. This printer says 'ALL IN ONE e-Printer but it does not fax.

    Hi @mybeaugie
I see you are trying to make the font larger on your printed output, but the small text is only happening when you print from programs aside from documents you create. If you are using Internet Explorer you can use this document; Text is Small When Printing from Internet Explorer. If however, you are using AOL you can following these instructions from this post, 'how do i make the text larger'.
As you can see modifying the text size is going to depend on the program you are using. If you are not using Internet Explore or AOL, can you please post back with more detail. What Browser are you using and what Operating system do you have?  Mac or Windows?
I understand you are also getting a communication error when you try scanning.  Running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:

  • Monitor and Printer Calibration

I am running a MacPro 4.1 (early 2009).  I have older monitor and printer hardware and their related software. Unfortunately, the software will not run because the Mac will not run PPC software.  The software has both PC and Mac versions on the CDs. I originally ran these on a PC before switching to Mac. It appears that the manufacturer does not have new or updated software to enable these devices to run on the MacPro, and a Google search has not revealed any other devices that will run on this machine.
My question: Is anyone aware of any new such hardware with software that will run on this Mac?

Check out the blog and topic articles index, and the sections on Lion, RAID, and other issues, plus at the top, "Cloning as Backup Strategy"
    http://macperformanceguide.com/blog/2011/20110915_2-LionFullScreen.html
No Mac Pro should be without redundant systems and backup methods.
Definitely not TimeMachine alone, and definitely not when moving to a new OS.
Backup now. Clone you drive. Or just get a new system drive - you will want and need a new OS drive and a backup drive for SL TimeMachine with at minimum room partition set aside for clone.
WD Green 1.5TB $109 makes a good size for both but it is always best to have separate drives / separate backup sets.
Install OS X 10.6.3 and update.
As for "old Sl FILES" you mean your old data? other than Apple Mail and some prefs, should all be the same. And keep your data files off of and on their OWC "data media drive(s)" or something if you don't already, and that makes sense to you. OS / Apps on one, media and projects on 2-3 drives, some external backup drives.
And keep anything you download. Updates, installers, programs, whatever.
Ask Lion Community. There were/are changes in what and how TimeMachine Lion works.
I personally never really had a good warm fuzzy feel about TimeMachine, especially when it was pushed out in "1.0" form in 2007 and had so many bugs and problems even in 10.5.2.
A lack of configuration options and preferences; why do I need to use 3rd party to configure Apple's? So I stick mostly with other programs. To clone, to make backups and archives, to synch.

  • Monitor and printer colours not matching!

Hi, when I print, the colours do not match my monitor! Using CS6.

There's no easy answers here, you have to read up on color mangementnt, calibration and all that stuff. Start by reseting any color tweaks to factory defaults on your monitor and printer. Beyond that it's a topic peopel write books about and nobody can answer this in two simple sentences. Scour the print-centric forums for Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for some posts from the past that offer basic guidance and research the topic on a more generic level with a web search.

  • Assistance needed with new monitor and printing from LR3

I just purchased a new IPS monitor.  I have calibrated it using the HP Display assistant that came with it.  It is an HP ZR 22w.  I saved my calibration as a preset  - however - this is not appearing as a profile when I try to select it in the print module.  the checkbox for "include display profiles" is ticked.  If I allow the printer to manage - the pictures are much warmer than on the IPS display.  My printer is a canon mg6120 and I am running windows 7.  I would appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide.  Thank you

I think the "HP Display assistant" is a software tool, is that right?
Ideally with Lightroom, you should use a hardware calibration/profiling tool (Spyder, Eye One, Color Munki etc).  In particular, you need a monitor profile that contains colour space information.  I had a look through the HP Display Assistant user manual, and it appears the software does calibration but it probably doesn't put colour space info in the profile.  It'll be better than nothing, but a hardware tool is better.
    However:
I saved my calibration as a preset  - however - this is not appearing as a profile when I try to select it in the print module.  the checkbox for "include display profiles" is ticked.  If I allow the printer to manage - the pictures are much warmer than on the IPS display.  My printer is a canon mg6120 and I am running windows 7
This is not what you want to do!  The profile that the HP Display Assistant creates is for the monitor, and only for the monitor.  It gets the right white point and tone curve for the monitor.  What you need in the profile drop-down in LR print module is a printer profile, not a monitor profile (except on very special circumstances).
I'm not familiar with the MG6120, but when I googled "profiles for canon mg6120" I got a lot of hits, so I assume profiles are available.  It's quite likely that some came with the printer driver, and were installed with the printer software.  When you select "profile" in LR print module (you may well have to go to "Other..." to see them all) then there should be profiles for the printer - possible lots of them - one or more for each paper type.  If they're not there, see the Canon documentation (or google it) to find out how to load them.
If you can't find any profiles for the printer, then try using sRGB (or probably it's "sRGB IEC...").  Without colour management, your printer will probably expect sRGB images, so this should be roughly right, but a specific profile for the printer is better.  This is one of those very special circumstances when something other than a printer profile (and sRGB isn't a printer profile) may be better than nothing.

  • Lightroom/photoshop seem to use the default monitor profile when printing

I had my color workflow setup fine and I have no idea what happened. It's been working as long as I can remember. My monitor is calibrated with an eye-one display 2. When I print, the print colors no longer match the monitor colors.  Trying to figure out what is going on, I noticed that if I switch the monitior profile to "Display" the print colors made match the "Display" monitor colors rather than the monitor colors present when its profile is set to the calibrated profile. I get the same behavoir in photoshop and lightroom.
    To recap:
    1. profile/calibrate the monitor with an eye-one display 2
    2. set the monitor profile to the new calibrated profile.
2.5 take a look at the soft proof. everything looks good.
    3. make a print using the correct paper profile, lightroom or photoshop managing the color,
    4. the print colors don't match the monitor
    5.  fooling around, set the monitor profile to "Display". Those are the colors that show up on my print.
Any ideas as to what's going on?
    The particulars: OSX 10.7.5, Photoshop CS6 13.0.4, Lightroom 4.4
    Thanks.

There are lots of colour spaces here!
The image has a colour space.  If it's a jpeg it's probably sRGB or Adobe RGB.  If it's raw, then it's in the colour space of the camera sensor (which is proprietary, and no use to anyone until it's been rendered by LR, ACR or whatever).
The editing program (LR or Photoshop) has a "working colour space".  This is the working space the program does it's image manipulation in.  For Photoshop you can choose, for LR it's always ProPhoto RGB (there's no choice).  LR and Photoshop internally convert the image from the image's colour space to the working space for editing.
Then the monitor has a colour space.  Assuming it's been calibrated and profiled (measured) by a hardware device (Spyder, Colormunki or whatever) then the monitor's colour space is described in the monitor profile.
Assuming the display profile is correctly set (in Windows control panel, color management) to the monitor's profile (which should be done automatically when you calibrate/profile your monitor) then both LR and Photoshop will automatically use the monitor profile when sending image data to the monitor.  Both will automatically map (convert) the image from the working color space of the program to the colour space of the monitor.  It just happens.
    Provided:
The monitor is correctly calibrated and profiled (with a v2 profile if there's a choice, avoid v4 like the plague)
The default profile hasn't subsequently been altered in control panel
then LR will automatically colour manage correctly.  There aren't any controls or options in LR to make it not colour manage correctly.
It's much easier to screw up on Photoshop as there are lots of settings you can get wrong in the "Color Settings" panel.  So if there's a difference in colour between Lightroom and Photoshop it's virtually always a wrong setting in Photoshop, unless the monitor profile is incorrect.

  • I have an iPad 3 and when trying to print Pages documents from EpsoniPrint there is a border, how can I get it to print normal without sending it to my Mac?

I have both quickoffice and pages on my iPad, and when I try to print from either of those through EpsoniPrint they don't print "normal".  And pages prints with a border around it.  How can I adjust that or is there a better app for printing via wireless?  I have an epson 510, so it's wireless capable but not AirPrint.

If you have a Mac I would recommend that your install Printopia. Here is a link to it:
    http://www.ecamm.com/mac/printopia/
With Printopia, any printer that you can connect to your Mac will appear on your iPad as long as they are on the same wi-fi network. Try Printopia to see if that border goes away. Good luck!

  • Thanks For Your Support in advance i want to know that when I open a website that time view print option and when I click close button then page also new window page also close. I want to copy it how i can stop this print option?

WHEN I OPEN A URL THAT TIME WITH PAGE OPEN SHOWS PRINT OPTION AND WHEN I CLICK CLOSE BUTTON OF PRINT OPTION THAT TIME NEW WINDOW BUTTON IS CLOSED. I WANT TO CLOSE ONLY PRINT OPTION. PLEASE HELP ME...............THANKS

Many sites which offer specific "print formatted" pages do that: they assume that once you have finished with the print dialog you no longer want the page itself. So for your convenience they close it. Not so convenient for you, since you still want to view the page.
I'm not aware of an easy solution for this. I can think of a couple different approaches.
First, maybe there's an add-on to solve this? That would be easiest.
Second, maybe there's a userscript to solve this?
The Greasemonkey add-on runs userscripts which you can copy or download. Be careful to install only long-establish and trusted scripts. (''Is there a site that has this bad behavior that I can view without logging in? I will test one of my existing scripts to see whether it helps.'')
Third, Firefox has an old system for restricting site permissions in a custom text file in your profile folder (named user.js). Editing this file is a bit advanced, and I haven't been able to test it, but the system works along these lines:
<br>// Define a policy name for window.close permission
// (assumes you don't have this pref already)
    user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "nowindowclose");
// Define policy: disable sites from using window.close
    // in their scripts
    user_pref("capability.policy.nowindowclose.Window.close", "noAccess");
// List of sites subject to this policy
    user_pref("capability.policy.nowindowclose.sites", "firstbadsite.com secondbadsite.com");
Again, I haven't tested that and recommend looking into add-ons first.
