Small scanning software?

Hi everyone,
I have the LaserJet M1132 MFP All-in-one system but I never used it for scanning, just for printing and copying, because i had another compact scanner. So I only had the driver installed on my computer so that they could communicate while printing. But I'm now getting rid of that scanner and I need a small, compatible scanning software that I could use for scanning with my 1132. And I don't want to use the huge 212 MB MFP full solution. I'm not a fan of these fancy looking, slow programs for users who don't know how to use computers. I want a small, simple program with all the scanning settings (like the resolution, save directory, size etc.) on one screen.. any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Lukas

Welcome to the HP Forums luky,
I see by your post that you would like to be able to scan with small compatible scanning software.
I can help you with this.
As long as the scanning drivers are already installed on the computer through the setup, you can use the Windows scanning software on the computer or a third party software.
Here is a document for how to Scan.
Select your operating system and How to scan without HP software.
If you want to be able to edit the scans and save them as PDF files, you will need to use the HP software for these features.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

  • Replacement install CD for HP Scanjet Pro 3000 S2 or link to easy scan software?

    Hello, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 via clean install and realized that I lost the install CD for HP Scanjet Pro 3000 S2.  The website has downloads for the drivers only - not the HP easy scan software or other bundled software. Where can I download this software and/or order a replacement CD? Thanks

    I had same prob and after many frustrating days I solved this prob .  Open front cover and the bottom of the front cover towards the bottom - you will see a white strip of plastic - in the middle of this is a little black finger that gets stuck under the white strip - with a paper clip or a small screw driver - with light pressure pry this little finger back up and red light will be gone.....
    thanks

  • HP Scan software - document or photo

    In HP Scan software there is a drop down for Item Type, with 2 selections, Document and Photo.  What does that drop down control/mean?
    Using an HP Officejet 8600+ N911g
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    The Document or Photo types are just default settings for the two common types of scans, If you are setting the scan resolution, and format to save the file, you are overriding the default settings, so the "Document" or "Photo" setting is irrelevent. Unless you are scanning as document, at 2400dpi, and then in word (or whatever app with the scanned result), and do a save as, in that case, the app is doing the conversion, which usually would end up having a different size. So which way is it?
    I don't understand what do you mean by "lose 28%", do you mean it looks smaller on display? or photoviewer cropped the result after rotate? Did both scan have to be rotated or just one of them?

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - Scan software doesn't have 8.5x11 letter size option

    Just bought a new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
    The included HP Scan software will only let me choose A4 or A5 paper sizes (as well as 6x4, 7x5, 8x6, 10x8).  No 8.5x11 option, which is what I want to use most often.  (this is from the dropdown options after clicking the "Scan..." button)
    Is there something I'm missing?  I'm generally pretty good at figuring this stuff out, but I haven't even seen this issue mentioned on forums, so I'm confused.
    Also, when using the Scan To Computer function directly from the printer, I get the same result - it will scan my 8.5x11 document and output an A4 size file.
    I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  I have installed all software and firmware updates I could find.  I have my printer's region set to Canada, and bought the machine from a Staples in Canada.  Wondering why I can't use any North American size formats?

    @Simple1234 - I have reinstalled the software from HP's website, and no change. (it's actually the same version that came on the installation CD - 12.23).
    @Sethaniel - I have definitely tried every combination of settings in those drop down lists, so that's not it.
    Ruling out OS issues, my girlfriend is running 10.8, and the HP software is doing the same thing on her computer.
    Using the System Preferences scanning method, I can choose paper sizes if set to scan from document feeder.  If I change to flatbed, I have the option to manually type in the dimensions I want, but then I'm forced to manually drag the crop area to which 8.5x11 portion of the flatbed it will scan.  Again, there's no way to just have the flatbed scan a letter size document automatically when placing the page at the top corner of the flatbed, where it shows you to place the page for letter size.
    This seems like the most basic function of a scanner!  I'm really perplexed by this.  I would imagine most people in north america would just want to place an 8.5x11 sheet of paper on the flatbed and have an easy way to scan the correct size with no added fuss.
    Printing works fine, and I can choose letter size, and many adjustable settings, so I think this is just a problem with HP's scanning software.  I have tried all the usual basic steps, like restarting my computer & the printer, reinstalling software, running software update, looking through all the settings in the HP Scan software, any global settings I could change in System Preferences, tried using a different computer and OS X version, googling the issue, and posting on this forum.
    Any other ideas?

  • Yesterday I downloaded Lion. It looked really nice. I then noticed several of my programs that worked flawlessly in Snow Leopard STOPPED working. One of them was my SilverFast scanning software.A new version would cost $450.00. I am going back to Snow Le

    I downloaded Lion yesterday. What a nightmare.
    Before even using it, I noticed several of my programs would not work with Lion.
    My Appleworks 6 program was dead as well as some other programs that I had been using for yrs. I have a dual core iMac.
    If I wanted to open any of my Applework documents I had to open them one at a time and resave them with pages. This could take weeks.I have 1000s of apple work documents.
    This was only the tip of the iceberg.
    I needed to do some scanning for a client. Well, low and behold my Silverfast scanning software for my Microtek 9800XL would not work.
    I went to the SilverFast web page looking for a download to fix this. No such luck. If I wanted to use my scanner with Lion, I would have to purchase a newer version for $450.00.
    Then I went to the Microtek web page, nothing there. I called Microtek and they said they were working on the problem but couldn't tell me it would be available.
    I called Apple customer support. The person I spoke with, Scott, was able to help me. The solution. I will get a refund doe Lion and for $16.00 they are going to send me Snow Leopard on a disk. Problem here is I have to reformat my drive. I have a full back up with Time MAchine, but he wasn't sure if I would lose some of my programs when this was done.
    Am I dealing with Microsoft? This was a BIG surprise to me that Apple would release an OS without testing all programs.
    Given my love of Apple products, I own a lot of Apple stock bought it when it was $45.00,This new OS is a real disaster.
    If you are going to use Lion, I would be careful and call Apple first before downloading.
    I also asked Scot what would happen if my computer crashed and I had no disk to reinstall. He said some Apple stores are selling Lion on a flash drive.
    I believe this is one way for Apple to make ore profits at the cost of the consumer. Apple has more cash on hand then the US government.
    I never expected Apple to do something like this. This is something Microsoft would do as they alwasy seem to rush their new OS without fully testing it.

    If I wanted to open any of my Applework documents I had to open them one at a time and resave them with pages. This could take weeks.I have 1000s of apple work documents.
    You don't have to open and re-save every AppleWorks document you have right now. Just wait till you need one, then do it. The documents aren't going anywhere.
    Am I dealing with Microsoft? This was a BIG surprise to me that Apple would release an OS without testing all programs.
    Frankly, it is not Apple's responsibility to ensure compatibiltiy with every piece of software available for OS X. That is the responsibility of the software vendor. Lion has been available to developers for several months before it's release, so Microtek had plenty of time to update their software. Yet they did not. How is that Apple's fault? I think Apple was very generous to give you a refund for Lion.
    I'm not trying to belittle your frustration but I do think your ire is misplaced.

  • HP LaserJet 3380 Scanning Software for Win 7

    Hi,
    I own two HP LaserJet 3380 Devices, one is connected to a machine that runs Win XP, the other to a Win 7 computer. On the Win XP, I am using a scanning software, that is super fast and works excellently. I have a shortcut on my desktop on which I can click and then, the device starts scanning to desktop immediately with presaved settings. On the Win 7 however, I am forced to use the default Win 7 user interface which is slow, requires multiple clicks and saves files to a separate folder called something like Imported pictures that is automatically created on the desktop. Is there some way I can create such shortcut as I know it from Win XP (one doubleclick - scanning with saved settings and saved location begins) or is there any original HP SW which can co such things? From the provided product info on your website I understand, I must use what Win 7 offers. And that, to be perfectly honest, sucks. Thank You for Your help.

  • Scanning Software for HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP

    Has anybody noticed the difference between download drivers with scanning software and the orginal CD PC Setup scanning software. It seems to me that the downloads of drivers and softwares are only the light version of scanning software whereas; 1. there is no toolbar wh about help to see which version of scanning software is installed. 2. The orginal setup has a full version of scanning software.My xp box died xmas and since 2010 I setup the prnt drvs/scan software and I never though this would be a problem if I had to setup again using the downloads from HP. Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
    The original CD is not intended for Windows 7, however you may download the software for Windows 7 below:

  • Laserjet pro 400 mfp m425dn scan software

    I have a LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M425dn all-in-one device.  I have it connected via USB.  It works as a printer.  I cannot get any of the scan software to recognize that I even have a scanner.
    I have Windows 8.0 (junk).
    I have installed HP Scan and Capture software.  I have installed the drivers - I had to go do devices and put the CD in the drive and search for driver there.
    How do I get the software, HP Scan and Capture,  to recognize the scanner?  I can print fine, I need to scan, too.

  • LaserJet ToolboxFX and scanning software doesn't work. Please provide an update.

    Hi All,
                Another frustrated AIO user here, Our LaserJet 3050 is a decent printer and an Ok stand alone Fax machine, but the scanning software hasn't worked for a long time and the Toolbox FX software has never worked. There hasn't been a significant update to the software since the Fall of '07, like 3 mos. after we purchased the machine. I can't use the scan buttons on the machine even though I've installed the full software package. The only scanner that works is the native windows one, which slows us down at work. My laptop is an HP pavilion dv8408us and it's had it's share of difficulties as well. How about broadcasting a fix for this stuff? HP should devote more time and energy into making sure things work in the first place? Nice website front page, though.

  • Decent Mac OS 10.9 HP Officejet J6400 scanning software

    Up until Mountain Lion or Mavericks I used to use a nice scanning utility from HP called HP scan that added to the OS X built in capabilities for my OfficeJet device.  That software is not compatible with Mavericks and the scanning interface provided by Mac OS is just awful.
    Does anyone know of simple scanning software that will work with the HP OfficeJet J6400 series and Mac OS 10.9?
    I have to scan a lot of receipts for work and loved the control and multi-file support of HP Scan.

    Thanks for the info.  I've started using Image Capture and it is working good enough.  I haven't been able to find a suitable HP Scan download and for my purposes I'm not going to pay for the VueScan software (although I'll keep it in mind in case my needs change).
    Image Capture gives me the basic control I was looking for, just have to get used to the different interface than what HP Scan had.
    I guess they call this progress.

  • Scanning software to work with CS6 and Mountain Lion

    Since I upgrading my Mac to OS Mountain Lion 10.8 and downloaded Adobe CS 6 I have been unable to get my Epson Scanner to work properly. Since none of the drivers from the Epson and Adobe websites have worked so that I could scan from photoshop, I am looking into using third party software. Adobe mentioned VueScan in their instructions, but it is expensive and I don't like how it is laid out. It appears that SilverFast only works with 32 bit not the 64 required in CS6.
    Has anyone else found scanning software that worked for them?
    Or does anyone have an idea of getting the Epson software to work on my machine?
    The scanner is an Epson Perfection v600 photo scanner, which is still being sold currently as something that works with new computers.

    I have a scanner. I am trying to get a driver or new scanner software to work with it. Someone in a different discussion pointed out an article in MacWorld that goes into why this is not working.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1168305/get_your_scanner_to_work_with_photoshop_cs6.html
    I would still be interested to know if anyone has had a positive experience with third party scanning sofware. Vue scan? Silverfast?
    Also to the Adobe staff :
    This is quoted from the MacWorld article.
    Right now, if users are running Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8), they will not be able to scan into Photoshop CS6 as described. According to Adobe, this is an across-the-board problem with the Cocoa classes comprising the scanning interface that it is using in Photoshop. It is neither a user nor a scanner manufacturer issue.
    Adobe is aware of the problem, has identified it as an Apple OS issue that they are working with Apple to solve, and offer no time frame for when it will be fixed. "
    Any idea on the timeframe or if there will be an anouncement when this is resolved?

  • Document scanning software that allows for custom search fields, attaching a thumbnail to the scanned document file, and works with any scanner?

    I am a professional photographer, with years of paper model releases. I would like to find a document scanning software that works with my exisiting flatbed scanner (Canon MP250) that I can customize the seach fields for (ie. name, agency, job, etc.) and also attach a thumbnail image to as a job reference. I would like the document to be searchable as well. I've looked at a few different document scanning software companies, but I haven't found one that allows me to attach a jpeg file to a scanned PDF. Does anyone know if software like this exists?

    You can't do better than to use VueScan:

    I am looking for a scanning software package that has more advanced features compared to the scanning software package included with my all in one.  I have looked for a more advanced scanning software package on the software CD included with the all in one as well as on the HP web site and have not found anything.
    Does HP make a more advanced scanning software package than the one inclulded with the all in one?  I am thinking of a program that is similar to VueScan from Hamrick Software.  I might just have to shell out the money if HP does not make a nicer scanning program.
    Thanks.

    Hello @jerryheilman,
    Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are interested in a Scanning program that offers more options then what is available with the HP Software that was included with your HP Officejet Pro 8610. Unfortunately HP does not have anything like that available.
    I was able to Google 3rd party Scanning software and there were many options, I guess it depends on what it is you are interested in doing.

  • Is there a virus scan software that interacts with iMS 5

    We need to install a virus scan software on the iMS5 server that we already have.
    All the research that I did would give us a virus scan software where incoming emails have to flow through before entering the messaging server. However , this is not what we need.
    What I am looking for is for the messages to go directly into the messaging server, get scaned (or sent to be scaned) by the virus scanner and then delivered to the user mailbox (in case it is clean of course).
    Anyone of you guys knows about such a solution?
    Thanks for your assistance.

    This can be done easily. You will need a virus scanner that works from the command line on the platform you're using.
    You'll integrate this with the MTA using the conversion channel. I do not know the size of your environment, but best practices says not to put the virus scanning on the message store system. (I'm used to doing systems to support 1M users and up.) For example at home I'm put everything on a single machine, you'll have to find the best place for your situation. Experience says that the conversion channel will add about 20% utilization to your system.
    Here are some example entries for a conversions file on a unix based system.
    in-channel=*; in-type=application; in-subtype=*;
    parameter-symbol-0=NAME; parameter-copy-0=*;
    dparameter-symbol-0=FILENAME; dparameter-copy-0=*;
    message-header-file=2; original-header-file=1;
    override-header-file=1; override-option-file=1;

    in-channel=*; in-type=image; in-subtype=*;

    message-header-file=2; original-header-file=1;

    parameter-symbol-0=NAME; parameter-copy-0=*;
    dparameter-symbol-0=FILENAME; dparameter-copy-0=*;

    You could check the mail archives for the info-pmdf mailing list for more examples and possibly even an example shell script.
