Small sliver of bookmark toolbar remains on right side of window

Firefox 11, Windows 7 64 bit. If I click the arrow to reveal the hidden bookmarks on my toolbar, click on a bookmark, a small sliver of the toolbar remains on the right side of the open window. Also sometimes, if I show the hidden bookmarks and then move the open window, the toolbar "disconnects" from the open window.

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • How do I move bookmarks back to the right side of window.

can't move bookmarks to the right side of window.

Sounds that you have opened the Bookmarks sidebar (View > Sidebars; Ctrl+B) and not use the Bookmarks Menu button that opens a drop-down list.
You can find a toolbar button in the toolbar palette that shows as a star with a drop marker when placed on a toolbar that opens the bookmarks in a drop-down list.<br />
The other toolbar button with a star opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.

Note that you need to hide the Menu Bar and possibly the Bookmarks Toolbar to make this button stay on another toolbar after you close the Customize window.

  • Can I adjust the size Firefox maximizes to, since it leaves a small sliver of space on the left-hand side, even when maximized?

When I have my dock set to the left-hand side of my screen, Firefox maximizes to all but a small sliver of space on the left hand side. Is there a way to change the default maximized window parameters (in about:config or something), or is there an add-on that will allow you to do it?

  • How can I move the Bookmarks button on the Bookmarks toolbar to the left side, please?

I have just done a full reset to get rid of various problems and am trying NOT to alter things without a good reason as that is probably how I broke it before... but I really do need my bookmarks button on the left!
I cannot discover how to open a customise menu for the bookmarks toolbar??

You should be able to move the Bookmarks Menu button to the left end side of the Bookmarks Toolbar ot to another toolbar while the customize window is open.

  • How can I display the bookmark list on the right side, not the left, of the monitor screen?

The display bookmark icon is on the far side of the navigation bar. When activated the list of bookmarks come up on the far left which is not convenient since I am right handed and would like to move the cursor straight down not across the screen.

There are two bookmarks icons. One displays a drop-down menu and the other opens the browser sidebar. Which one are you using?
For the drop-down menu, it should open on the side where you have the icon. (Note: this icon generally appears at the right end of the Bookmarks toolbar and in past threads some people have had difficulty moving it to other toolbars.)
For the sidebar, there might be a trick to switch it from left to right, but this also will affect others sidebars that share the same box, such as history.

  • Any way to resize the "text" toolbar on the right side of the Pages app?

I'm a pretty recent convert to Macs. I've been using a PC for a long time, so most of my experience with word processors is with Microsoft Word. I like that Word allows you to edit your files in a 'Print View' layout, which lets you see the entirety of the document. Unfortunately, Pages seems to not permit this view. Is there a way to diminish the size of the "text" toolbar (right side) in Pages so that the user can see a 'print view' of the document?
    Thanks a lot.

Pages is permanently in "Print View", What You See Is What You Get.
The scale of the document is set by the percentage menu top left of the Toolbar on the window
The Format side panel is fixed in width.
Your problem really is that the screen on your Macbook Air is relavely small and the Format sidebar in Pages 5 is permanently large. You can hide the Format panel by clicking on the Paintbrush or Document icon, depending on which is already selected.
On my iMac 27" I have plenty of room to see a 150% view of a page with the Format panel showing, but obviously on your small screen this is not possible. You very likely would need to view the page at 75% or less.

  • Why is the bookmark toolbar only visible in my original window?

A typical example: I click on a link and a new page/site opens in a different window--I wasn't paying enough attention to click & press command so I could get a new tab instead.
Except the bookmarks bar, everything looks the same--even "bookmarks toolbar" has a checkmark next to it in the view menu.
From the posts I just read, it may be an issue of having a Mac.
Help me, OS Wan Kenobi! I mean, Safari? Chrome? You're so much better--and not just Firefox, Mozilla as a whole.
    Please and thank you.

  • I lost the bookmarks icon on the right side of the menu bar on the top.

I used to have the star on the right side of my header at the top of the page. Somehow it disappeared and I am unable to restore it. (I still have the Bookmarks drop down in the Menu Bar, that is not what I am missing.)

Been through the exact same runaround as the original poster, very confusing and annoying.
So the specific solution is a three-step process:
    1. HIDE THE MENU bar by un-checking it in "View"--this gives you the orange Firefox button. NOW you will automatically also be seeing our beloved Bookmarks drop-down on the right of the search box again! Yay!
    2. Think to yourelf: Why can't I have both the Menu bar (with "Bookmarks" in it) AND the bookmarks dropdown on the Navigation bar? WHY?? Redundancy is MY CHOICE if I want it. And I do. User should be allowed to choose features on Nav bar independently of what's on other bars. (Obviously.) Programmers should not be allowed to make overriding choices for users about these things. Programmers are terrible at UI design and should be kept out of it aggressively. A separate team should do the UI design, and protect it from programmers.
    3. Use the feedback links to tell the "clever" Firefox re-designers to PLEASE LEAVE THE CONTROL INTERFACE ALONE. When a billion people get used to things being a certain way, and they more or less like it that way, and you change it, that means that a billion people will experience a billion hours of frustration and anxiety trying to figure out what the f happened to their trusted, well-liked button or menu. You do not have the right to inflict this suffering--leave it alone. The UI belongs to the users--NOT to the programmers. If it's not broke, DON'T FIX IT!

  • Native Inspect Element tool won't display CSS/elements along right-side of window anymore.

I recently updated to Firefox 20.0 and noticed that the native Inspect Element tool doesn't have an option to display the page css elements along the right-side of the window like it used to.
Is there a button somewhere I'm missing that allows this view?
I also noticed that I cannot hit escape to exit the inspector anymore.
Why would this option have been removed?
Screenshot of the issue explained a little better... http://exceptionalsheet.com/error.jpg

I agree with all the above - it's utter shite now. Before it was elegant and useful, now it's a waste of space.
How can I downgrade until those morons in your design department work this out?

I imagine the OP means this:
It's not movable. However command-option-B will open it if that's any help, though once opened there's no way of altering the layout of the page, except for moving the divider.

  • Exist or can you add possibility to place menu bar(all buttons) on the right side of window?

Something like MS Windows menu bar which can be placed on each screen side. On 16:9 screen this will add more space for site and navigation still will be very easy. I wanted attach image with concept but it's not possible here :(.
I'm not sure if I'm writing in correct place but this support system isn't too user friendly :/

You could try using Firefox's Safe Mode to reset your toolbars. Not sure whether this is a toolbar problem, but it's probably worth a try.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, check this article on how to start Firefox in
[https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] and use the dialog to reset toolbars.
    Any luck?

  • Why can't I remove the long BOOKMARKS button from the right hand end of the bookmarks toolbar?

This button is completely superfluous and takes up space on my Bookmarks Toolbar. How do I remove it please?
To be clear, I have the 'normal' bookmarks button on my main toolbar that opens up my bookmarks in the panel on the left. What is the purpose of the Bookmarks button on the right end of the bookmarks toolbar that opens up the same bookmarks in a different presentation, and how do I get rid of it?

Thanks very much Vivek and the-edmeister, now I understand and have managed to remove the unwanted button. I beieve the ergonomics of all this are very poor - starting from the fact that 'customize' gives the impression you are in control of what appears and what doesn't, but this is confused by the fact that Firefox is also adding and removing icons depending on what toolbars are showing. Also, and the main cause for this problem, the icon I want to remove from Bookmarks toolbar does not show on Bookmarks toolbar in 'Customize' view. AND, there's the fact that the icon doesn't even look the same in the two views so it's not obvious that moving the little button (in customize) will affect the larger button with text that's on another toolbar!
For other people with the same problem, my re-writing of Vivek's original solution so it works on my system is this:
Please try this: right-click on the '''+''' after the last tab and '''Customize''' and click, hold and drag the star icon that has the little down arrow beside it from any of the toolbars on which it appears (it probably <b>won't</b> be in the Bookmarks toolbar!) into the Customize mini window.
    Thanks again both.

  • Option to create new folder on bookmarks toolbar by right-clicking is missing

The title says it all. This option has been available forever and recently it has gone missing -- it is not listed in the context menu. I can still create new folders that appear on the bookmarks toolbar by going to:
Bookmarks-->"Show All Bookmarks" and then right-clicking on the "Bookmarks Toolbar" heading
The right-click option is still available there. But it is also missing when I go to Bookmarks and right-click on "Bookmarks Toolbar". The option is listed in the context menu but it is greyed out.
I have not made any changes to FF in recent memory, although I do not pay much attention to automatic updates. This is not urgent. It was just a convenient option and it has disappeared for no apparent reason.

Thanks. That had some effect. The option to create a new folder is no longer greyed out in the context menu when I navigate to:
    Bookmarks-->"Bookmarks Toolbar"
and right click on the latter. However, the action does not work and the option is still missing from the context menu of the bookmarks toolbar itself.
