Small tablix causes extra page in pdf

A small tablix causes an extra white page in a pdf. When removing the tablix the white page also disappears.
The report is in landscape , first column of the tablix 2,13cm and the repeating column header is 1,2cm. How tall or small i set these properties, as the tablix obviously takes only 1/3th of the report width when previewing the report, still whitespace seems
to be rendered causing an extra white space.I have included the tablix in a rectangle but it does not seem to help.
Any idea?

According to your description, I have taken a sample test in my environment. I can reproduce it when the width size is not appropriate in the report. To fix this issue, please refer to the following steps:
Click on Report > Report Properties window.
Make a note of the values for Page width, Left margin, Right margin.
Click on Body > Body Properties window.
Make a note of the value for Width.
Please make sure that Body Width + Left margin + Right margin <= (Page width). When we see blank page being rendered it is almost always because the body width plus margins is greater than the page width.
Besides, if the tablix is a matrix, because of the column group can expand to multiple columns, we should according to the following rule:
Body Width + Extra expanded column width + Left margin + Right margin <= (Page width).

Print at Bottom of Page option causing extra page at end of report

I'm using the option 'Print at Bottom of Page" in Section Expert for some invoices I'm creating. For some reason it's causing me to have an extra page at the end of the report. If I unselect this option, the extra page goes away. I need to be able to have this group footer print at the bottom at the page but not have the extra at the end of the report. This is the first time I've used this option so maybe I've missed something. All other sections after the group footer I want printed are suppressed. Any ideas?

I guess I didn't have the report footer suppress, I just had it minimized in size. I suppressed it and it seems to be fine.

SSRS 2008 Report with two tablix have extra blank pages

I am working on a report in SSRS 2008 that has two tables (or tablices?). My report is set to a width of 11 and height of 8.5, left and right margins of 0.25, top and bottom margins of 0.5. Paper size is Letter, Orientation is landscape.
With margins accounted for, I basically have 10.5 of workspace for the Body. The first tablix's width is way under 10.5 but the second tablix has lots of columns and would have to span two pages so the Body goes past 10.5 but I
kept it under 22 (twice one page). I put a PageBreak after the first tablix. When I run the report and do a Print Layout, the first tablix prints with a blank page after every printed page of that table. The second tablix prints just fine, no extra
blank pages in between. So I suspect that it is the "empty space" to the right of the first tablix, which is caused by the second tablix's width, that is the problem.
However when I tried to switch the tables in my report and have the wider tablix print first and the narrower tablix print after it, I did not get any extra blank pages on both; the reports prints just fine.
Unfortunately, I cannot have the wider tablix print first with the report I need. I would like to know if this is a bug in SSRS 2008? It appears that there is something with the order report objects are printed and their size. Has anyone figured this out

this post on the MSDN forum that offers the following solutions that worked for a few people responding to that thread. You might want to try one of these:
"I found the problem cause. In Reporting Services, report body width must be <= (report width - report margins width).I reduced the margins to zero width, and the pagination problem disappeared!"

Growing objects will push those on their right, even if they are not on the same line /!\
Consider a textbox 2 inches large centered, and a growing matrix beneath it. on the left, 1 inch large. At run time the matrix will grow and the title will be pushed aside. And this may cause blank pages.
A workaround is to create 1 rectangle per object. The rectangle should occupy all the body space available while objects occupy only a part of their embedding rectangle."

CMC is exporting an extra page in my PDF document???

Hi -
I have the SAP Business Objects Central Management Console and I am exporting a PDF document. When it exports the document, as a PDF, it's giving me an extra page and it's blank. I am trying to rid the extra page. How can I do that.
When I export the document as a PDF directly from Crystal Reports 8 it doesn't give me the extra blank page, which is what I am looking for.
Please help or direct me to the right place.

Importing MS Word into PDF adds extra page with document info

I am still evaluating Acrobat Pro, including Life Cycle Designer to create Forms, currently testing converting existing forms made in MS Word to PDF. There is someting that I do not know how to resolve is when I import files from MS Word, an extra page with details info about the document is copied as well. It contains info such as number of pages, author, date of creation etc....20 lines of info.
This becomes akward when inserting the document into an existing pdf...or just create a new form from the Word document....adds the extra page ..
Is there a setup somewhere that I could modify to not have the extra info? or how do I delete it? I try to select the text but cannot (within life cycle)

If you are importing into Designer, you should ask in that forum. If in Acrobat, then you might try printing the WORD document to a PDF first and importing the PDF. However, with Acrobat you will not get the form fields that you are preserving with Designer.

I know the colour graphic shading in the document that causes the issue of larger file size, but it doesn't make sense that printing 1 additional page with same information as first 2 pages would cause this.

Adding Extra Page to a PDF doc generated from XSL & FOP

Hi, I am using XSLTC and FOP for tranforming XML to PDF.Using the JAXP 1.3 API to do this.
I am getting the xml through a web-service and using stylesheets and FOP to convert it to PDF.However my problem is that i want to add a extra page at the end of every PDF that i am creating.
This extra page at the end of every PDF is a kind of info-page whose content might change.
Can i possible create a xml doc and a corresponding xsl stylsheet to create this page and somehow merge it with my original PDF Document.I am keen on keeping the generation of this page(i.e XML and corresponding stylesheet) to be seperate

HI ...though i have resolved this issue i am facing another problem and any insight from all you people would be good help.
Basically the scenario is standard ...Webservice --- which could possibly return multiple XML strings which are required to be rendered into PDFs.
These Strings are received in a JSP along with other values like as follows.
eg :
Name : XYZ0 Age : 57 Profile : PDFLink0[/u
Name : XYZ1 Age : 45 Profile : [u]PDFLink1[/u
On Clicking the links a PDF is supposed to be rendered.
Presently i have a Servlet which calls my PDF component and renderes a PDF based on primarily XML String and other params etc....
The Issue is all these PDF links in my JSP page are Hrefs and am wondering how could i pass my XML String nd other params to my Servlet.
One option could be as a Query String but i dont want to take that approach .I would rather prefer a Single Object(Created and populated in the JSP itself) and passed to the Servlet.
Could anyone give any inputs....as to possible ways this could be done.

DPS: pinch and zoom function not working on all pages within folio (v30 tools using the pdf setting). What would cause some pages to pinch and zoom fluidly, while other pages appear a bit sticky? Could it be a button on the wrong layer?

Software Update printer driver update for HP causes an extra page to print that just has "2345X" printed on it.

A few days ago, Software Update showed a printer driver update for HP so I installed it. Now, after everything that I print, I get an extra page that just has "2345X" printed on it. I tried reinstalling the driver update but still get the extra page. Anyone know how to get stop this extra pgae from printing?

Once you have reset the print system please make sure you are selecting the HP Driver and not the Airprint driver (see picture below)

Reinstalled Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 won't let me print web pages to PDFs

I'm really ticked at Adobe's "help" in updating the program only to cause a lot of misery. I'd read Acrobat had a security update, and got a constant reminder from Adobe update to install the available update. I've been using Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 with absolutely no problems printing web pages to PDFs. I installed the 8.1.7 update which immediately disabled Acrobat completely. So I wasted a lot of time uninstalling Acrobat and reinstalling sequential versions to get back to 8.1.6. Now I can't print web pages to a PDF.
I had NOT done anything else to installed programs in the meantime, except that probably Norton has automatically updated antivirus files in the background. I don't have any problems using Acrobat to open and print an existing PDF, or to create new PDFs from my scanner. I can do a hardcopy print of a webpage by selecting my Brother printer. From Word 2002 and Excel 2002, I can create a PDF by "printing" to Acrobat as usual. The only problem is creating a PDF by "printing" a webpage by selecting Acrobat as the device from the list of available printers. This problem happens both with Firefox and with Internet Explorer 7.

Lion address book prints extra page

For years I had no trouble printing envelopes straight from Address book. But since I upgraded to Lion, when I print an envelope, it prints (1) the envelope just fine, but then also (2) a blank 8.5"x11" page. How do I get it to stop printing the extra page?

HP printers for years have had a problem printing an extra envelope from the Apple Addressbook Application with the # 10 envelope.
Solution: Select a #9 envelop. This prints about the same size and does not have an extra envelope.
How to: From Address book, select print, Style: Envelopes, Layout: Layout pulldown Official 9 then print
Interestingly the two smaller and two larger sizes only print one envelope. You can test this by clicking pdf and open pdf in preview.
On System 7.4 I cannot find a way to change the orientation to verticle as described above.

ESS Paystub Payslip extra page

our paystub on ESS is working fine with a small issue that we its displaying an extra blank page after the paystub. though there is no overflow of paystub. we dont want extra page.
we are using ZHR_ESS_PAYSLIP_TO_PDF copied from HR_ESS_PAYSLIP_TO_PDF and no changes whatsoever.

Paystub has one Page Output in R/3 Transaction. Same is replicated to the Portal and the portal have 2 pages in the output while viewing it in PDF. 1 page is blank and we want to remove that extra page.

PC users cannot open my Pages-exported PDF documents

Has anyone encountered this? When I want to give someone a PDF, I need to export it from Pages, choose "Open with Adobe Reader," and then re-save from Reader as a different name. (If I just export from Pages, some PC users cannot open it.) When I look at the file information for these two supposed PDFs, the one that's only exported from Pages says "Portable Document Format (PDF)" and the one opened and resaved with Reader says "Adobe PDF Document." What's going on here? Is there a reason my PC friends can't open a Pages-generated PDF?

Thanks for the suggestions. Funny, when I changed the "Open With" selection inside the "File Info" box to tell it to use Reader, it it still tells me in the "General" information section that it's a "Portable Document Format (PDF)", but it does replace the "Preview" icon in the upper left with the Adobe logo. Only the version that I physically opened with Reader and re-saved lists the "Kind" of document as an "Adobe PDF Document". Wacky.
Regarding the extension, when I exported from Pages, the "Hide Extension" box was unchecked in the "Save" window, yet the file's PDF extension is in fact hidden (and the "File Info" box also says it's hidden). What's up with that? Grr.
Seems like a small bug--now I just have to get some PC-using friends to let me know which ones they can open! Thanks for your (tres rapide) help guys!

Problem with exporting and printing from pages to PDF

I have a problem with my Pages
My font will not be embeded in my pdf files.
I have saved as a ps file and in to the destiller and my fonts are missing.
I need to send my file to the print shop but they will not accept my file and i now understand why.
fonts are missing...
Is there a workaround.
I have no problem in Indesign or quark but pages.....

The font is coming from a notation software Sibelius 4 and is namned opus
Hmmm ... Sibelius is a music notation software and notations are marked up in MusicXML. Presumably the font file is an SFNT with TrueType splines, but it is probably not installed in OS X system folders - rather in an internal Sibelius application font folder. So presumably you do not see the font in FontBook and OS X font auditing does not apply to the font.
Sibelius exports EPS files, right? If memory serves, an EPS is still legal even if the font resource is not embedded. And in any case, we know from the behaviour that the font resource is not embedded for some reason. So how do you get Sibelius to put the font resource inside the graphic ... normally there is a button in the EPS export procedure that gives you the option to Embed All Fonts.
You do not seem to get this button, though. Or why else would you not have checked it already and the problem would have gone away already.
The next point in troubleshooting this is that you are not following the path that would let OS X detect that an external font resource is not embedded.

What you are doing here is telling Pages to tell OS X to generate a PostScript program within which is nested your Encapsulated PostScript program with the call to an unresolved external font resource.
So why does Acrobat Pro not detect the unresolved external font resource? Hmm ... did you try the Preflight option in Acrobat 8 Pro? It should provide information on unresolved embeddings.
I have also tried pages-print-printer- acrobat Pro 8 and save pdf as postscript and put the postscript file in destiller 8 pro with defalt setting high quality print
The whole problem with EPS and PS is that this sort of situation is possible in the first place (plus, what is worse, the PS program can include custom additions to the graphics model that then fail in the PS interpreter whence Apple GX normalizing, Adobe Distiller normalizing, and Apple Quartz normalizing). You want to get as far away from EPS and PS as possible, believe me.
So, you have not done what I posted that you should do in the first place. If I were you, I would first get rid of the problem that the EPS is making a call to an external font and then get rid of the problem that the PostScript is preserving the external call.
To get rid of the problem that the EPS is preserving an external call, simply open the EPS in Apple Preview which includes a NORMALIZER for EPS/PS, and then save out the graphic as PDF. Alternatively, if you don't trust Quartz for some reason, set up a hotfolder for Distiller, make sure the option to embed all fonts is enabled, and convert the EPS to PDF.
Now replace your EPS in Pages with PDF in Pages, and don't save PostScript to disk but save PDF to disk through the proper procedure which is File > Print > PDF > Save as PDF/X [for your custom configuration of the PDF/X-3 filter considering that no sane person in North Europe prints lowend US SWOP, we use ISO].
If you begin by telling OS X that you want PDF within which fonts are supposed to be embedded ALWAYS, then you have started the right way. Otherwise, you have not told the operating system what you want to do, and this then leads you into places where you are unlikely to have the expertise to troubleshoot problems.
So, forget placing EPS in the first place, place PDF. And forget saving PostScript to disk, save PDF to disk. If that does not sort your problem, here is the dirty solution for professional prepress.
Adobe Photoshop has an EPS rasterizer that has wide tolerances for poor PostScript programming (so does Adobe Illustrator 6 and higher by the way).
Therefore, if an EPS is posing problems, one workaround is to rasterize the EPS at high resolution in Photoshop and place that high resolution PDF in your layout.
Take care that you rasterize as 1 bit at the required resolution of the print provider, probably 2450 dpi. When you save the 1 bit as PDF, Photoshop automatically compresses to a very, very small file (don't be surprised if 15Mb compresses to something like 0.5Mb).
Rasterizing in Photoshop should not be necessary if you simply start by telling the operating system what it is you are trying to do. Then the operating system should be able to take the right decisions for you, and tell if you if finds problems it cannot resolve without turning to you.
