Small (visible) images on published Iweb page

I generated a web page recently, loaded, looked at it under Safari, Explorer and Firefox. So far so good.
When my friend looks at it on her Macbook pro 13" laptop, all the images in the slideshow are not much bigger than thumbnails - maybe 200 px maximum size, no matter how big we make the safari window.
Any idea why she has this problem?

I changed the monitor settings to 1280x800 and viewed the slide show of [this photopage|http://web.me.com/timothyholt/Mamma_Milly/Untalented.html] .
With the browserwindow stretched to fullscreen, the images are 613x417.
With the monitor settings to 1920x1200 the images scale accordingly.
You may want to check with other computers. Perhaps there's a problem with the MacPro screensettings.
Also check the images themselves.

  • Publishing iWeb pages from 2 different Macs

I have recently bought a MacBook to complement my G4 Powermac desktop - the desktop has iLife05 installed and the MacBook iLife06.
I am really enjoying using the iWeb application and would like to be able to publish iWeb pages from both my MacBook and my desktop mac. Is there anyway I can get iLife06 transferred onto my desktop. I have already been firewiring files between the two - can I do the same with software or do I need to buy iLife all over again?

    Hi James,
Your response definitely helped me since my boss and I are trying to maintain a website on both of our computers...
BUT, i have a huge problem. Before I knew how to transfer or find the domain files, I used the "FIND" option to search for the domain site on my computer and when i clicked it open, my site didn't come up but rather a prompt asking me what type of website I'd like to create. For months, the website we created showed up every time I opened iweb but now when i simply clicked on domain.site or whatever it was that turned up in the "Find" folder, I can't bring up or locate the site I created on the computer so I have no way to update it or put it on a disc for my boss... Do you have any idea what caused my site to disappear simply by clicking on domain or any idea where i could find my site??
    please help!! thanks!
    Vanessa
one more thing: is it possible for my boss to edit the content of the website without iweb? could she do it through the actual website with a password or something? just curious... also if i can't get that original domain site back, is there a way i can transfer my website to a different website other than iweb so that i can keep updating without having to redo the whole thing? even being able to transfer separate blogs from iweb to the original site would work too - anything to not have to redo the welcome page and picture pages that are already online

  • New computer, how can I sync my old published iWeb page with new compuer?

I had my old macbook stolen a year ago in Italy. I created and published an iWeb page to .mac on that computer. My problem is that I cannot figure out how I can sync my old page on .mac to my new computer so that I can continue to use it and upload pics. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hello,
and welcome the Apple iWeb Discussion Forum.
Basically you can't figure it out because there is no way to get published pages back into iWeb. iWeb lacks of any html import feature. The only thing you can do is rebuild it by copying and pasting content from the published one to the rebuilt in iWeb. However for photopages that isn't a good idea, it's better to rebuild them from scratch (iPhoto).
Be sure to make a backup of the domain.sites2 file (where iWeb stores) its files from time to time

  • Publishing iWeb page

I've been trying to publish my iWeb page without success.. any suggestions?

What system version and iWeb version are you using?  Can we safely assume your publishing you site to MMe since you've posted in the MMe discussion?  What happens when you try to publish? What do you see?

  • Problems publishing iWeb page to my website

Hello, I'm having a heck of a time trying to get my iWeb page published to the free host server I chose. I have a subdomain name and account at atspace.com and no matter what I do, the darn webpage will not work. I'm a complete newbie to webpage publishing although I have decent knowledge of computers. I went through the entire process of making my page on iWeb, then published it to a folder on my computer, and then have been trying to upload the page to the site using cyberduck, and yet every single time I try to upload any file from the web page, cyberduck connects, but then says the following: ftp error cannot create folder, /About _files About: Permission denied. I've followed all of the steps I'm supposed to from help sites on the web about how to publish an iWeb page to a free host server and it even is connecting to my server, but when I try to upload the actual pages, it won't work. I even downloaded WebEcho as well, and same thing, WebEcho says it worked and that everything is great, and yet I visit the site and nothing works. If I go to my website address it just comes up blank and says that safari can not find the server. I am at my wits end and am becoming incredibly upset with the whole thing. I don't know if iWeb is not working, or the server is not working. I have an account with the server though, I registered the subdomain name, and when I test the connection, it works, but when I type the website address in my browser, it doesn't work. If someone could help me figure this out, I would be very happy and appreciative. Thanks in advance.

To summarize: you use Cyberduck to upload the files to the server.
If that's the case it's not an iWeb issue. Its role ends when the pages are published to the folder on your desktop.
If Cyberduck cannot create folders on the server then you have to find out what the problem is. Either on the server or with Cyberduck.
On basic question is : do you publish to the correct folder on the server? It's usually named public_html, html-docs. Check with your webhost.
+*Not sure what you mean by is it published to the correct folder on the server. I published the page onto my computer, it's in the sites folder on my hard drive. iWeb says it's uploaded or whatever and would I like to visit the site. So I click yes and it takes me to this website: file:///Users/ryanfick/Desktop/Ryan%20Fick/About%20.html This is not the server or the subdomain name I registered so I'm not sure what this is. It works though and I can navigate around the website, but when I go to the website I have a subdomain name at, it doesn't find it. Plus, I have no idea what public_html or html-docs means or is, you would need to explain that to me for me to know what or how to find it or use it.*+
BTW, why not use iWeb to do the publishing. Enter the details in the FTP setup. But check the details with your host first. If Cyberduck cannot publish the pages, then iWeb cannot either.
+*I have already tried to use iWeb to publish the site as I mentioned above, but nothing is working. Thanks for the quick response, but I'm almost completely lost on almost everything you asked or talked about. I'm a newbie to webpages and ftp and such. I have no idea on most of the questions and comments. I do have a few questions. Do I need to manually go to atspace.com and upload all the files individually? There are like a thousand files under the main files. And second, I've been trying to use Easy iWeb to publish it and it is asking me to input a folder to input on to the website that your iWebsite will be published to. I have no idea what this means or what it wants. It says to leave blank if you want to publish it to the top level of your website. So I left it blank and clicked on check configuration and it says configuration OK. So then I go back to the main page and click on publish to web and it says Ready, uploading, then failed to upload file: About .html at /Users/ Does this help at all? What do I need to do, what is going wrong? I feel like I am in bizarrO world right now where right is wrong and wrong is right and nothing works. Thanks*+

  • Number of images on a iWeb page

I am a newcomer to iWeb and am wondering how many 640 X 480 jpeg files can be put on one page? I am more familiar with Homepage where a maximum of 48 images can be put on one page.
Also, Homepage includes an optional "hit counter." Can a "hit counter" be activated with iWeb?
    Thank you.

i don't think there is a limit to the amount of images. you can have as many as you want - but the more images, the longer the loading time. So to keep a limit of about 48 photos per page would be quite good!
and yes there is a counter in iweb, just go:
    insert/button/hit counter
and thats it, a little counter like on .mac homepage will appear.

  • Burning a published iWeb page to a cd-rom

I have created a webpage on iweb. It has been published into a folder on my macbook.
I need assistance on how to burn it to a cd-rom to where it will automatically start the webpage when the disk is inserted into the drive.
(purpose of disk/page for assistance).  I've created this webpage as a marketing tool. I want to be able to give it to potential clients without them having to go through files to start the page up.  It also has documents on the page in pdf format which they can print out if they wish.  I don't want the disks back, so if possible, make it a read-only disk also... so they're not able to mess with the files.

Burning files and folders to a cd/dvd is very simple.
Choose new burn folder from file menu and add the files and folders.
    http://www.google.com/search?q=mac+burn+disk
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh2154.html
Use cd-r/dvd-r disks to burn read-only disks.
Practice with a cd-rw/dvd-rw disk to use the disk again.
Files do not open automatically on a Mac. And on Windows the init file is used. Search for it to learn how to do that.
Your clients can mess with the files, by dragging them to the desktop.
And don't expect perfect results. Webpages are meant to be served thru a server, not opened on the desktop. So don't cry if your precious website looks horrible or doesn't work properly. It's not iWeb's fault.
Put the site on a server and send a link to your clients.
Show them you're a pro and not an amateur who learned to press a button.

  • Publishing iweb pages with other domain host?

    Hi...
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to host the page I created in iweb with another domain host?
    Thanks

Under the File menu in iWeb there is a option called "Publish to Folder"
That folder will contain all the HTML files, etc necessary to create your webpage.
You will then upload (FTP) the contents of that folder to your host.
There are several FTP programs available including Yummy, CyberDuck, etc... are you familiar with FTP'ing?

  • Unable to publish iWeb pages to .Mac

I have been using iWeb (version 1.1.2) quite happily for past two weeks and have successfully published to .Mac/Mobile Me. But today I have been having loads of trouble and have been unable to publish anything, although I can publish to a folder, which is of no use.
When I try to publish I get the following types of messages:
    Publish error
An error occurred while publishing file "/Web/Sites/iWeb/Site 5/Welcomefiles/navbaractive.png".
    or
    Publish error
An error occurred while publishing file "navbar_active.png." Try choosing >Publish all
Can anyone suggest a solution. This is driving me mad.
    Tony

Let's not mince our words: the version of iWeb we are using is ****** and there is no help available anywhere on the Apple website. Check out my various posts on this topic. I am going to save my work to disks and will not renew my iDisk account in a couple of weeks.

  • .pdf prints very small - full image, but only quarter page

i have adobe reader 10.1.1 for mac.  when I print, the full image prints, but is shrunk to the top left quadrant of the paper.  I have tried to change page scaling settings.  i have also changed advanced setting 'print as image', but none of this seems to work.  i've spent endless hours on this and am hoping someone can offer a suggestion.  this happens regardless of the original application (.xls, .doc, .ppt).

  • Is there a trick to publishing iWeb page html in email marketing campaigns?

I've searched around on this forum but haven't come across an answer. What I'd like to do is create a webpage in iWeb and use it with GoDaddy Express Email marketing. When I do it, it comes up all funky. I've tried it with Constant Contact, too, but no luck. Can this be done or do the iWeb html codes not jibe with other applications? I'd really love to use my own webpage design consistently through email marketing campaigns. Their templates are pretty ugly.
If someone knows any tricks, I'd love to learn them. If it's not doable, then go ahead and break the news to me.

  • How can I edit or remove iWeb pages from Mobile me after I have published it to another site?

I have published iweb pages to another server and now I need to replace the mobile me version with page "pages moved to..." or at least I need to delete old version. However I can't find any way to do this from mobile me or from iWeb.
From Mobile me I cant find any way to even delete pages.
With iWeb I cant edit the old version because I cant find way to have two version of same pages. As I understand what I need is a version of my republished pages that only contains the index page "pages moved to...". But I cant create that because I cant have two versions.

  • Images Appear On iWeb But Not In Published Website

As I'm working on a website page in iWeb 08, the images on one particular page are clearly visible yet when I publish the site, the images are gone and only appear on the page as little question marks. HELP!!!

    Hi Elizabeth,
I'm experiencing the same problem at the moment... However my hypothesis are:
The photos might have names that are causing the problem (not internet compatible, thus using special characters or whatever) you could try to rename with something like 123.jpg put them back in iWeb and republish. The names may also be too long.
Or the might be in a particular non-standard format... What's the extension of the files? .tiff? .jpg? other?
Other possibility would be that they aren't publishing to the server (which would be the biggest problem I think)

  • Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08

    Hello,
I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?

I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on?

  • The publishing settings page does not open when I click on the domain name and the iWeb application will not stay on the dock.

    Hello,
I have been trying to help a friend who is having problems publishing her website. (She has done so previously using Mobile me)
There seem to be a couple of things wrong with the application,
1     if I drag the application icon onto the dock, it won't stay there
2     I wanted to change where her site is published to (she has bought a domain name and has a hosting service now) but when I click on the domain name I do not get the "site publishing settings page" so we can't enter the new details.  All that comes up is the main page of her website.
I would suggest uninstalling and re-installing Iweb, to see if that clears the problem, but as Iweb came pre-installed with her Imac, I am not sure that we can do this.
    Any ideas please?
she's using and imac 24 in (approx 4 years old) and running osx 10.5.8

NO - not correct.  Even if you are still using iWeb 08, you can still publish to another host and not MobileMe.  You do this by selecting the option 'Publish to a local folder" and this will publish the site to your desktop and you can then use an ftp programme such as Cyberduck to upload your site to your host.
MobileMe will not be here after the end of June, so you will have to find alternative hosting.  They are not taking any new subscriptions.
On new Macs, iLife 11 is pre-installed, but only iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand are included, not iWeb and iDVD. The Apple Online store is not selling the boxed version of iLife 11 any longer, so if you want to upgrade to iLife, then you'll have to look online at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk for a boxed set of either iLife 09 or iLife 11.  Both contains iWeb 09, which is what you would want.
