Smaller increments of function shift page up/down

Hello, I posted a question earlier and thanks to dekkoman for answering it, heres a 2nd part to that question.......i'm now able to scroll through the timeline during play by pressing function shift page up/down, however it does so in big increments, i was wondering if there was a way to do it in smaller increments....I can do it in smaller increments by hitting shift & scroll on my mouse however that only works when the movie is paused.

Shortcuts that work while playing in the timeline:
shift-pageUp, shift-PageDown: to scroll left and right
cmd-ì or cmd-+ (keypad): to zoom in
cmd-' or cmd-- (keypad); to zoom out
shift-Z to zoom out to the full timelne
Before using the zoom in/out command it's better to deselect any clip, otherwise the zoom is not centered to the playhead.

  • In Lion, why did Apple remove the up/down arrows in the scroll bars?  There is currently no way to move up and down in small increments.  WHY????

Every mac operating system software until Lion had the ability to use up/down arrows in the scroll bar.  This makes it easy to move up and down in small increments.  In Lion, it is impossible to move up and down in small increments.  Click on the scroll bar and it moves up or down an entire page.  When you try to put the curser on the scrollbar and move it up just a little, it moves a whole bunch.  With the up/down arrows, you can click on the arrow and it will scroll ulp or down one line a time.  There is no way to do this in Lion. Why would apple remove the very useful feature of up and down arrows.

    Yes, agreed a missing element.
Did you try using the up / down arrows on the key board.

  • Implement Entry up/down & Page up/down functions in table control

    Hi,
I have to implement entry up/down and page up/down functions in my table control. The logic is :-
Suppose the entries in my table control currently are:-
    Called "Initial Position" :-
    a
    b
    c
    d
    e
My "Cursor Position" or say my selection column is at 'c' value currently.
If I press entry down, the result should be:-
    a
    b
    d
    c
    e
i.e. c shifted one value down. If I press value up from "Initial Position", it should be :-
    a
    c
    b
    d
    e
If I press page down from "initial position", the result should be
    a
    b
    d
    e
    c
i.e. c has scrolled to the last entry. Similarly for page up, where the entry goes up to the first place and all entries move one position down.
The problem i am facing is:-
    1) How to get index of entry selected?
    2) How to change table control contents at runtime?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Please check the function module - 'SCROLLING_IN_TABLE'.
    It give you some idea.
    Thanks.

  • How do I add "Save As" to the Pages drop down menu?

How do I add "Save As" to the Pages drop down menu?

It took me awhile but I found what I was looking for. This is posted at http://www.tuaw.com/2012/07/29/get-save-as-back-on-mountain-lions-file-menu-easi ly-and-without/
Option 1. Terminal.app If you are comfortable using Terminal.app, you can add a different keyboard shortcut this with one simple line. First, quit all your apps except Finder and Terminal. Then paste this command (as one line) into Terminal.app (and press Return):
    1
defaults write -globalDomain NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add 'Save As...' '@$S'
view rawdwrite-global-saveas.sh hosted with ❤ by GitHub
    That's it!
Launch TextEdit and open the 'File' menu and you should see "Save As..." back in its rightful spot with its original Command + Shift + S shortcut, as shown in the image above.
Aside: After you enter the 'defaults write' command, you will not see any confirmation that it was entered correctly. Terminal.app is a little terse sometimes. If you want to verify it from the command-line, enter this:
    defaults read -globalDomain NSUserKeyEquivalents
and look for "Save As..." = "@$s"; in the output.
Option 2. System Preferences.app If you would rather not use Terminal, it's still very easy to add the keyboard shortcut.
Launch the System Preferences.app, then open the "Keyboard" preference pane.
At the top you will see "Keyboard" and "Keyboard Shortcuts" – click "Keyboard Shortcuts" (labeled '1' below). Then in the list on the left side, click "Application Shortcuts" (labeled '2' below). Then click the "+" button (labeled '3' below):
Once you press that "+" button, a small window will appear asking you to enter the title of the menu item and the keyboard shortcut that you want to use.
Enter "Save As..." in the "Menu Title:" field, and then press the keyboard shortcut that you want to use. In the example below I pressed Command + Shift + S:
Note: It used to be true that you had to enter an actual ellipsis (which you can get by pressing Option+ ; on a US-English keyboard). However, when I tested this in Mac OS X 10.8.2, it worked with three consecutive periods.
Bonus Tip: Hide the "Duplicate" menu item.
In my original article I suggested that you also enter a keyboard shortcut for "Duplicate" and while youcan do that if you wish, you do not need to do that.
However, if you would like to hide the Duplicate menu item, you can do that. There are two steps: first, remap "Save As..." to Command + Shift + S (as shown above). Then the 'trick' is to remap "Duplicate" to Command + Shift + Option + S.
What you will have done is swap the keyboard shortcuts for "Duplicate" and "Save As..." which means that OS X will make "Duplicate" the optional command. If you open the "File" menu and hold down "Option" the "Save As..." command will change to "Duplicate"
(Thanks to TUAW reader 'rbascuas' for pointing this out in response to the original article!)
Important Addendum: "Keep changes in original document"
As we reported in August 2012, the "Save As..." command in early versions of 10.8 had an unexpected and likely unwanted side effect in Mountain Lion: it would save the changes in the new document (created by "Save As...") but would also save the changes to the original document.
However, Apple realized that users might not want that behavior, so in Mac OS X 10.8.2 they added an option "Keep changes in original document" which you can see here:
Option A: If you want to save the changes you've made in the document and then save the document with a different name, then make sure that the box is checked.
Option B: If you want your original document to stay as it was when you last saved it and create a new document based on the modified content of that document, then make sure that box is not checked.
If you do not see the 'Keep changes in original document' box, then the application is probablygoing to give you the "Option B" behavior, but if you are not sure, I would suggest choosing Cancel in the "Save" dialog, then copy and paste the contents of the document into a new file, and save the new file. I know that's several extra-and-less-convenient steps, but if you are worried about preserving the original document, better safe than sorry.
You could also save the file, duplicate it in Finder, and rename the new instance. Open old file and revert to previous save using 'Versions'.
Frankly,I wish that Apple had just left the "Save As..." command alone, but for some reason they didn't ask my opinion. That said, I'm glad that they brought it back in Mountain Lion. I would have paid $20 for that feature alone.
Note: This article was re-written and republished on 2013–02–21. The original process still works, but I wanted to update it to reflect some additional information.

  • How to adjust the sound volume in small increments in Mac OS 10.7 (Lion)?

I use a Macbook that has dedicated sound volume buttons (F11 and F12).
In Mac OS 10.6 I was able to adjust the sound volume in smaller increments (1/4th of a square) by pressing SHIFT + OPTION + VOLUME UP/DOWN.
This stopped working after the update to 10.7. Any ideas?

Unfortunately they did away with this feature in Lion.  Hard to understand why.
You can with something like AudioHijackPro manage your System sound to a much higher degree. A very versatile piece of software.

  • How to get the values returned by a function in a drop down?

    Hi All,
Can anyone please help in getting the values returned by a function into a drop down? I have a java class file where in i have written a function called getWeeks() which give all the week dates and i want to display these week dates in a drop down box in a JSP page.
Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks in Advance!!
    Lakshman.

    Hi Lakshman,
the following code can help you do what you want :
    <hbj:dropdownListBox id="calendar" tooltip="Calendar" selection="<%= selected %>">
    <%
    String[] weeks = myObjectBean.getWeeks();
    for (int i = 0; i < weeks.length; i++) {
    %>
         <hbj:listBoxItem key="<%= i %>" value="<%= weeks<i> %>"/>
    <%
    %>
    </hbj: dropdownListBox>
The <%= selected %> snippet allows you to pre-select one of the options (provided that the variable 'selected' is equal to one of the listBoxItem keys).
You can also add onSelect to the tag (e.g. = "setSelectedItem"). It corresponds to a method in the corresponding JSPDynPage class. This means that when you select another item in the dropdown list, the method in your Java class is performed (allowing you to save the selected value and performing actions with it)
I hope this helped you enough,
    kind regards,
    Frederic
Edited seven times by: Frederic Taes on Nov 5, 2008 11:24 AM -> the onSelect element was in the hbj tag and in the text with "='setSelectedItem'" next to it and when I tried to post my message, I got a 501 error all the time ! Seems like a SDN bug to me ...

  • Most efficient way to globally shift page content

    Hi folks,
I decided to start my InDesign career with something nice and simple: a 326-pp book divided into 57 sections.  I just got my first POD proof back, and it all looks good – except that I would like to shift everything down the page by a pica or a quarter of an inch.
The master page setup in my book is not the most efficient.  I have an A-master in each story document (= chapter = section) with nothing on it but a single column with margin settings. Then I have two chapter title page masters (recto & verso) and two body text masters (recto & verso).  I can modify the masters on my sync source story document, but when I try to sync the changes through the other story documents, I get erroneous placement of headers, and I lose the story- (i.e., chapter-) specific title text (which is entered in the title master pages).
I have been looking for a global fix. I tried adjusting the top margin in the A-master page, but the margin doesn't seem to push page elements down.  Another possibility is to set up a global crop routine in Acrobat (my final output is PDF), and then add the material chopped from the bottom back to the top (also in Acrobat).  I'd like to find some way of pulling off the necessary shift in InDesign, however.  I have a gut feeling it's possible, but a search of the InDesign Help material hasn't turned up anything yet.
    Any thoughts?
    TIA

"Use the AdjustLayout.jsx, a sample script that ships with InDesign. Go the the Scripts Panel and find it there and double-click it,"
    Neat.
The Acrobat crop is the way to make this happen in a hurry, but I had a good time playing with the Script Panel. Thanks for letting me know about it.

  • ThinkPad Compact USB Keyboard with TrackPoint: Suggestion: Fn+Arrow keys as Page Up/Down/Home/End

As it is now, Fn + up/down/left/right do not send any keys to the OS. Would it be possible to update the keyboard firmware to send the following:
    Fn-Up: Page up
    Fn-Down: Page down
    Fn-Left: Home
    Fn-Right: End
I think this is common in laptop keyboards, i know my macbook air does this, and my logitech K760 does it as well. It is a lot more convenient than accessing the home/end keys on top of the keyboard (the page up/down placement is easily accessible already).
If it is not possible in the current version, at least consider it for the next revision - i would buy a new keyboard for it :-)

Yes, i realize it could be confusing for some to have two ways of accessing the same keys.
The issue i have with the thinkpad layout is that the keys are split apart - i like having page up/down and home/end clustered together for navigating - with the thinkpad layout, half the keys are in the lower half of the keyboard, and the other half in the top.
Also, since arrow keys are also often used for navigating, it makes sense to me to keep them together - for example, "go to the end of the line and select the last word" can be accomplished without moving the right hand from the arrow keys, and the left hand using Shift/Fn/Control

  • Forms 6 page/up/down problem

You should be able to fix it with Oraterm. This is the procedure I recieved from Oracle Support (it works):
    1) applied patch # 2 not only for oraterm, but also forms and reports and all
    products
Run a simple form. Ctrl+PageUp and Ctrl+PageDown are not mapped.
Left and Right arrows are not mapped too.
    2) open oraterm 6.0.5.30.0. , open ORANT\FORMS60\fmrwus.res.
    3) Click on the first button (K)
    4)Click Product Actions button

action.Important too. The third is just a description, that will appear .
when you issue the show keys command.Don't remember all that is missing. If
you find something else is missing, go to .res shipped with Dev 2.1 and copy

  • Page up/down in iTunes music library with the keyboard?

    Hi guys,
does anyone knows how I can scroll in my musiclibrary via keyboard with page up/down function?
    thanks for an answer!

I do it all the time with iTunes 7.5  You just need to ensure that you have an item selected in the track window and not something highlighted elsewhere such as the playlist sidebar.
I guess I should ask if your keyboard has page-up and page-down buttons?  If not, there may be alternatives but you would need to let us know what computer you are using and which operating system version.

  • Web Pages Drop Down

I've had my Lumia 610 for 8 months & I like it but lately when I'm on internet the pages take awhile at times plus as I'm reading, it'll drop down or shift. It can get pretty annoying. Could it be my provider being loaded up with people /kids on their PC's or playing games at certain times? Even now as I'm typing, my page will shift up, then down!

    Hi John,
I can't tell you about the differences between JFreeChart and jCharts, but I can tell you that many people have switched to JFreeChart from commercial charting packages. They tell me that JFreeChart:
    - draws great looking charts;
    - has comparable features to the proprietary alternatives;
    - is well designed and flexible;
    - has great documentation (*);
But the thing that people like the most is having the source code, because it means that when JFreeChart doesn't quite do what they want, they can do something about it (the same applies for jCharts because it is open source).

  • Arrows and page up/down keys don't work (also not in previous version)

Arrow and page up/down keys don't work. Problem started a fe2w months ago; upgraded to Beta but it made no difference. Sorry to report that they work fine in Internet Explorer but i DO NOT want to switch. Thanks!

    IU'm curious if this is a 'getting used to Macs' issue;
I'm on my first Mac [and OS X] as well, and to
me tthese friggin keys "don't work" either.
That is, they do not do anything useful, like
go to the start or end of a text field. The
keys do function, though. Home goes to the start
of a document, and end goes to the end. Seems
silly to me; how often do you go to the start
or end of a document, versus the start or end
of a line? Two points off your usability rating,
    Apple
Anyways, if this [the keys doing different things
under Mac] is the issue, see if Apple-Left Arrow
and Apple-Right Arrow do what you're expecting
    Home and End to do.

  • Security issue with page drop down on planning form 11.1.1.3

I'll buy a round of Newcastles for anyone that can fix this issue.
Planning 11.1.1.3 a given user is given @idescendants write access to a cost center rollup that has shared members underneath. The stored members are in a primary rollup higher up in the hierarchy. The webform has the cost center selection on the page drop down. The first child in the rollup does not display. This occurs for every rollup, the first child member is not visible i nthe drop down. So for example, the outline looks like this:
    primary cost center hierarchy (stored)
    rollup1
    --ccxxx stored
    --ccyyy stored
    alternate hierarchy (shared members)
rollup2 <--------------user has write access to @Idescendants of this rollup
    --ccxxx shared
    --ccyyy shared
In the page drop down, only the ccyyy member shows. Not the ccxxx. Dev has the same access applied and both show correctly. I've tried refreshing security, pushing filters from plan to essbase (even though this is metadata security in planning) and nothing fixes. Webforms are identical. My next step is to restart the planning service when i get down time but was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue.Always the first child of the shared rollup that doesnt display.
Edited by: EssbaseInAz on Nov 4, 2009 3:11 PM

Exports are identical. In fact, prod security was cleared and reloaded using an export from dev. after the upload i re-exported prod and compared the export to what was loaded (export from dev). Security is identical. This only for users with security set on the alternate hierarchy rollups up. Admin members are fine. One test i did do was to give access to the first child that is not displaying up on the stored member. If i do that, the member will show. But that's not really feasible in this security setup and it does not explain why the exact same security works fine in dev.
I thought about about the second issue you raise. it does seem to behave like that. but the part is tagged never share, not label. Same as in dev, which works. plus like you said, that situation only seems to arise when the members are on the row and even then, the member displays, it's just set to read only. I'm wondering if there's some flag set in the relational backend that's causing an issue or something like that. I've pushd the filters to essbase and using a test id setup i can replicate this issue, but with an excel retrieve i can obviously see the member (since metadata security isnt applied in excel) and i can also see the data for the missing cost center. So, its somewhere in planning where the metadata security is applied. I might poke around the planning tables and compare to dev to see if i can find any smoking guns. Really bizarre. Plus tomorrow i've got a window to restart the planning service to see if that helps.
Thx for the response Jake and if you have any other suggestions i'm open. If i find a solution i'll let you know.
    Pete
