Smallest hi-res HDMI/Thunderbolt display device for Mac Mini

The short version is that I essentially need to have an HDMI or Thunderbolt display attached to my Mac Mini in order to select a higher resolution (1920x1080 or higher), however I don't want a monitor actually attached to it if I could avoid it being that I only use the Mac Mini as a remote device via Screen Sharing.
What is the smallest/cheapest way to accomplish this?

According to the copy&paste from wikipedia, HDMI should support higher resolution than 1920x1200. So the question is, does it aupport that on the mid 2011 mac mini. It says in the specifications
"Mac mini is designed to work with HDMI devices that comply with versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.3, 1.3a, and 1.4 of the HDMI specification."
That should mean it should be able to support it, but I don't know : <

  • DVD Display Quality for Mac Mini Core Duo

I'm moving from PC to Mac, starting with a Mac Mini Core Duo as a media server.
The spec looks great, but I'm concerned that the CNet review says that on their test machine:
the DVD- and video-output quality was marred by false contouring (banded or splotchy colors), moiré patterns (line distortion), and jagged diagonals
I can't find any mention of this problem in this forum, so perhaps CNet had an early version, or a manufacturing defect, or was poorly configured.
To put my mind at rest, can anybody confirm that the DVD player works fine for them on this system? And if so what exact configuation they have?
Mac Mini Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.6)
PC (Toshiba Tecra)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes, large display - I'm outputting to a Panasonic
AE900 projector and putting up a 90 inches diagonal
    picture.
nice setup.. OSX with Front Row is a good platform for HTPC. Unfortunately the picture quality is not as good as what you can obtain with PC's. but it is still plenty good. Then again, if you will watch DVD's only, I would recommend getting an upconverting DVD player (Oppo is a good brand for 200 bucks aprox). Again, check out the avsforums, you'll find plenty of useful info and very helpful people.
    Gmas.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
A very commonly asked question, but the straight answer is no. I know of no solution to this (although I am working on it!).
17" LCDs start at only $105.

Maybe you are looking to re-purpose this equipment versus getting rid of it if so, the best thing to do is search the internet for tutorials.  And I say this because it's what I would do, there are a lot of tutorials online.    Hope you can find good use for them.  Worse case scenario if you can't find something right now, package them very nicely and when you come across something unbox and enjoy.  I've re-purposed a mac color classic and LOVE IT!!

  • HT5219 did thunderbolt display worked with mac pro 2012 12 core ??

i buy mac pro 2012 12 core with thunderbolt display so how i can maake it work with us ??

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you want to use a Thunderbolt Display with your 2012 MacBook Pro, you can do it without any problem because your MacBook Pro has got a Thunderbolt port.
If you need help to set up the Thunderbolt Display, see its user guide > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/thunderbolt_display_getting_started.pdf
Instead, if you have a Mac Pro (it looks like you have a Mac Pro because you say that it has got 12 cores), you can't use the Thunderbolt Display because the Mac Pro hasn't got Thunderbolt ports. Instead, you have to use the LED Cinema Display

  • Air Display app for Mac Air???

Will Air Display app for Mac enable me to use my Mac Air display on a larger, Windows monitor?  Thanks.

Yes, but not the Mac app, the Windows app. Just buy the Windows version of the Air Display app from the Avatron web site: http://getairdisplay.com, and download the free Air Display video drivers for your Mac.
You can try the Windows app for free for up to an hour of connection before deciding whether or not to buy.
    Cheers,

  • HT4614 how do I connect a mac cinema display to a mac mini

Is it possible to connect both an Apple 30" HD cinema display and an Apple 23" cinema display to a Mac Mini and use both as dual monitors?

Yes with the current Mac Mini.  Connect the 23" to the Mac Mini's HDMI port with the HDMI to DVI adapter that came with the Mac Mini.
If the 23" display uses ADC (Apple Display Connector)
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
you will also need a DVI to ADC adapter.

  • How can I add a second display to my Mac Mini

How can I add a second display to my Mac Mini (mid 2011). HDTV and standard monitor working simultaneously.

True ... but that can be tricky.
Macs can only power so much, and only through approved/proper adapters.
Running two monitors off a single MDP-to-VGA adapter may not work, because Mac may not nicely exchange-talk the simultaneous signals.
There is an adapter that will convert a single minidisplayport to two VGA plugs, but that adapter is $100 instead of $30 (for the single) because it has special hardware in the adapter itself to manage the two signals sinultaneously.
    Alternately ...
Running one through the minidisplayport and one through the HDMI port makes them two separate signals to be processed.
