Smart AC Adapter

I've been getting the following message on screen
The Smart AC Adapter connected will power your computer, but potentially at a reduced performance level. Your computer is designed to vary performance as needed when a smaller capacity Smart AC Adapter is connected.  Resource intensive tasks may cause your system not to perform at its highest level with a smaller capacity Smart AC Adapter.  Please connect a higher capacity Smart AC Adapter for full performance.
however I bought this HP Omen start of January, its essentially still brand new and came with a 120W charger which is exactly what I have plugged into my laptop when this message pops up. It didnt happen from day one only within the last week or so but still why am I getting this message at all?! I'm assuming it means my charger isnt optimal for my laptop.. but then why would the charger that came with the laptop not be the one best suited for its use?
Please help!

  • Replace Smart AC Adapter for HP 17-E054CA Notebook

I have a new HP17-EO54CA and it came with a Smart AC Adapter. I keep getting messages that I should purchase a higher output AC adapter as it may be needed for some applications.
I don't know how to do this. i have Googled about as many combinations as I could think of, and I'm pretty good at finding things on the web, but I cannot find how to replace this adapter with a higher output one.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
What is its wattage now ? Is it a 90W PSU which comes with the machine ? You may need a 120W charger. My loan machine (Envy 17 - same shape, size and very close specs) comes with a 120W charger.

  • DV7-4183cl Smart AC Adapter ?

Hi, I have been getting a message pop-up when I plug in my laptop's adapter lately. It says, "for full performance connect a higher capacity smart AC adapter." I am using the original AC adapter that came with my laptop, which is 2 years old. Is something wrong with my adapter? Why am I getting this message?

    lmwh454,
Sorry it took so long to respond.
    Do a hard reset.
    Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
Make sure the power adapter is unplugged from the wall also.
Check the connection in the middle of the cable to be sure that it has not came loose.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.
Here is a link to a post on how to disable the pop up.
Let me know how everything goes.
    Have a good day.

  • Hp smart ac adapter (power supply)

what is the difference between the ac smart adapter 90w-19.5v and 65w-19.5v?
if i use 65w-19.5v ac adapter instead of  90w-19.5v ac adapter , will it create any harm to my laptop or laptop battery..?

IF your notebook was delivered with the 90Watt unit and you switch to a 65 watt unit, you may find that you start seeing warnings popup onscreen that caution you that the power supply is no providing enough charging capacity.
It won't hurt the notebook at all, but it is not good for the main battery.
The warning means that the battery is likely to not be fully charged by the 65 Watt power adapter.  If your battery does not get fully charged, its service life may not be as long as expected. The main battery is warranteed to one year. With most notebooks, owners get two or more  years of use from a battery. That is only if the battery was charged properly.

I think it's a bad contact between the plug of the power adapter and connector on the motherboard.
Can I do something to improve the contact ?

That sounds as if that could be the case. Is the power adapter an original HP or is it an aftermarket brand?
If your notebook was delivered with a 65 Watt Power adapter the it is recommended that you replace it with an identical power adapter. Don't try to second guess the engineers who designed the notebook.
    Best regards,
    erico
I believe it is an original power supply; the model number is noted in my original post. I really would like to agree with you about second-guessing the engineers, but I have seen too many poorly designed systems, including one in particular from HP.
At my last job, our CTO was an HP fanatic, and owned the largest and most powerful HP notebook at the time. I helped him to order a docking station for it based upon the HP compatibility list. When the docking station was connected, he encountered numerous strange power-related problems, and especially had problems with USB devices connected to the docking station ports.
It turned out after a bit of experimentation that the power supply that came with the docking station was inadequate to power the set-up, and using a larger supply completely resolved the issue.
However in my case it does appear this might be a dead or counterfeit supply. I will test it on my colleague's notebook, since it is identical except that he is running Windows (SP)7. I will update you with my findings. Thanks for your help.

  • HP Pavillion DV4 1123us power adapter problem

    Hi,
After using the HP Pavillion DV4 1123us for two years suddenly I noticed that the power adapter is not supplying power to the computer and it is making some not too loud repeatitive sound. I replaced the power adapter with HP 90W Smart Power Adapter which worked fine for a few weeks and then I noticed whenever I connect this to the wall outlet it makes some repeatitive chirping sound and this is also not suppying power to the computer anymore. It behaves like this even when it is not connected to the laptop which indicates that there is some problem with the adapter and not with the internal powers supply of the laptop. It is so surprising that the replacement power adapter stopped working so early.
In my home all the other laptops are working just fine and and found all of them are two pin  - only these two are three pin. Not sure if this has gota anything to do with this fault.
Any help on this matter will be highly appreciated.

  • AC Adapter for HP2400 docking station

I have purchased a HP2400 Ultra Light docking station (used) which was sold without an AC adapter.  I want to use it with my HP Elitebook 2530p.
According to HP website, both the 2400 docker and 2530 notebook use the External 65W Smart AC Adapter.  So, for the docking station, can I use the power adapter which belongs to my notebook (it fits)?
If I can't, what is the part number for the AC adapter I need to power the 2400 docking station?
    Thanks.

    Do I need a 12oW or 230W adapter?

  • What ac adapter should i buy?

My work laptop has just been upgraded to a ProBook 430 G1, which came with a 45w ac adapter and I'd like to get a spare power cable for when i use the laptop at home.
The HP site suggests a "HP 65W Slim Adapter" as an accessory for this model (http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=E9Y94EA&opt=ABU&sel=PBNB)
I have a number of ac adapters from my previous HP laptops, and they all appear to be 90W. If HP are recommending an accessory which is a higher Wattage, will my existing 90W adapters also be suitable?

  • AC Adapter/ Elitebook 8730W -Can I use 200W safely?

I have an EliteBook 8730w laptop. It comes with an external 120 watt or 150 watt Smart AC adapter.
A friend gave me a replacement 200W AC Adapter which was originally for the 8740w. It fits my 8730w but is it safe to use as its a higher wattage than the original?
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
You probably should call HP support and ask them.
I can give you my opinion, which is, it probably would be OK. It is also a smart A/C adapter and should quit charging your battery when it senses it is fully charged.
The wattage shouldn't matter. Your notebook will put less of a strain on the 200 W adapter than it did on the 150W one.
You may even want to touch the adapter to see how warm it gets. It would think it would get less warm than a 150W adapter since there is less demand on the 200W one.

  • 6735s AC adapter and/or battery problems?

    Hi all.
I have an 11 month old HP Compaq 6735s laptop which has up until now been a very reliable machine.  It came with Vista but was upgraded to Win7 when it was released.
Approximately 2 weeks ago I started getting the message when on AC power that the "smart AC adapter is not providing enough power" (something like that anyway!) And even though plugged in would switch to battery power only.  Restarting the laptop always "fixed" this.
Then about a week ago the laptop refused to work on AC power at all, only the battery.  Of course the battery soon became totally discharged so I removed it, and found that the laptop works fine on AC power with the battery removed.  I have tried another identical HP AC adapter to mine and the laptop behaves in the same way.  So I'm kind of discounting the AC adapter.  The guy at the computer store where I borrowed the AC adpter to test it claimed it was the power port on the laptop that was the culprit, but I doubt this as of course the thing runs just fine on AC without the battery...
Strangely though the thing will run fine on AC power with the battery installed if you first remove the battery, then insert the battery once Windows is running, charging the battery also - that is until the message about the smart AC adapter not being powerful enough pops up (usually after an hour or two of use).  I've run the battery test and it gets a clean bill of health.  So I'm at a loss really.  I don't like running the laptop without the battery in (don't know why, as I know it won't hurt it!)
There is just a month left on the "warranty" so I'm thinking perhaps the phone calls need to start, but I thought I'd ask on here in case theres a known fix for this that I can do myself (though much Googling hasn't revealed anything) as I don't like the thought of being computer-less for a while as this is the only PC I have.
Thanks in advance to anyone who could shed a light on this strange problem
    Regards, Bob

My problem was solved by adjusting the way power cord is put in power port. I think it was pulled down earlier more than once. To fix this, I inserted cord, pulled it up so it remains inserted at opposite angle.

I looked at the trap PDUs that correspond the timestamps in the log output, and I do not see any problems.  Is there additional debugging you can enable in the Smarts application that will indicate why it thinks these traps are mangled?
The traps themselves come from RME because it looks like you have enabled Inventory and Config collection failure notification, and RME cannot fetch the config from certain devices.  It appears that perhaps RME is doing periodic config collection or polling around 11:30 pm when these traps start to get generated.

  • Is it possible to make a screen control appear only for a specific patch?

I use MainStage almost exclusively for guitar. Frequently I will use different guitar amps in different patches (usually the AmpliTube plugin, but occasionally Amp Designer). I'd like to use different screen controls for specific patches. For example, I might be using a Marshall JCM900 amp model for one patch, and a Vox AC-30 Top Boost amp model for a different patch. The Marshall has a gain control, and a master volume, but the AC-30 only has a master volume. Conversely, the AC-30 has a top cut control that doesn't exist on the Marshall.
Is there a way to hide the screen control for the Marshall gain on a patch that uses an AC-30 model?
It seems like there would be many, may scenarios where controls that are relevant to one patch would be undesirable with a different patch, but it seems like screen controls are global for an entire concert. Sure, a given control can be mapped to different parameters in different patches (but you can't give a screen control different names in different patches), but there's limited space on a layout, and it seems wasteful to have to provide a given screen control that might only be relevant for one patch out of a dozen in a given set or concert visible in every single patch.

    Hi
Standard Screen Controls will always appear in Edit Mod and in Perform Mode for a given Concert. Controls that are not assigned to any parameter will be grayed out in Performance Mode. To do this, select the control in Edit, and choose "None" in the Screen Control Inspector.
Smart Controls adapt for a particular Patch. Different layouts can be assigned per patch.
    ericmurphysf wrote:

That depends on the method you used to name them in the first place:
Controls can have different formats of labelling ( done in Layout mode), where they can show the particular parameter name etc etc. These can change from patch to patch.
You can assign a "Hardware Label" that is global.
Separate Text labels can have global or Set/Patch labels, and they can be labelled for a single Patch by overriding any higher level labelling

  • SAP HANA - where exactly will it fit in the SAP System landscape!

I have been trying to get things on HANA to make it clear and see what is the different functionality of HANA and where would this product exactly Fit into.
For example, let's say, we have ECC for serving all the business needs and daily transactions ( so purely OLTP ), BW or BI for analyzing & decision making ( so purely OLAP).
If we talk about HANA would it just replace the BWA with additional smartness of adapting source directly from ECC / OLTP based systems  apart from BW/BI system ? or is it more than that ?
