Smart Adaptor Compatibility (power)

I have a G61-110SA  (windows 7 32 bit)
I need a new AC Adaptor as I left mine abroad.
There are two adaptors available (first two listed items):
Parts-surfer
I would like to buy the smart charge compatible one, but here is the question I need to answer:
How can I tell, if my laptop is capable of using the smart charge facility/adaptor. Where can I check if my laptop will (A) - work with and (B) - Make use of this smart charge feature.
Thanks.

Thank you for your helpful response to my posting.
I checked the link that you offered; however, this listing only shows one type of yo-yo style adaptor (the one with the big plug). I have a feeling that my iBook (which was one of the very first small white G3 iBooks) is a bit of a hybrid between old and new because the dual USB iBooks that shipped a few months later had the newer square style of power adaptor.
I know that there are two types of yo-yo adaptors because I have both in front of me at this moment. Unfortunately, they both have the same model number M7332 (part number 922-4323?). They appear to vary only in the size of the plug at the computer/cord connection.
Can I assume that since the adaptors have the same model number (despite the plugs being different sizes) that they would use the same AC power cord (part number 922-4529?) to connect them to the wall?
Thanks again.

  • Power adaptor compatibility?

I have a G3 Dual USB 500MHz iBook with power adaptor problems. The model of the adaptor is M7332 (with the small plug). There appears to be a break somewhere in the power cord to the wall, not in the yo-yo part of the adaptor itself.
I have an older adaptor from an orange clamshell iBook. Although the yo-yo part will not fit (it has the large plug), the cord to the wall part appears to be identical (other than color).
Do you think that I could safely use the older cord with the newer adaptor? I tried it and it works, but I'm still reluctant to use it continuously. Any ideas?

  • USB charging adaptor compatibility.

    Hello,
I bought blackberry z3 from amazon about a month ago. The charging adaptor which came with the bundle is with model no. RM0200 and RIM Part no. HDW-53513-001.
In the booklet with the bundle this adaptor is not listed as the approved charger for BlackBerry z3. Kindly help me if anybody has got the same issue or if somebody knows that this model charger is compatible with the device.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

I asked this exact question to an Apple Genius this morning and they said that they thought the USB device draws too much power, and therefore is disabled for non-MacBook Air computers. He did not sound like he knew for sure, but sounded like a guess. I cannot see how a device like this would draw more current than the standard USB port supplies. I'm a bit skeptical that the Superdrive would require some insane amount of power either. It is probably less of a power issue specifically, but perhaps a stepped up voltage level on the buss so they do now have to put a step down transformer into the accessory - thereby minimizing the form factor of the enclosure? I'm all for the design of the MBA and its core functionality that eliminates features, but to make accessories that require a "certain type" of USB connection seems like a bad decision to me. Perhaps firewire with its higher voltage / power levels would have been the more intelligent port to have in place of the headphone jack... there are lots of USB headphones and even USB to mini-jack adapters these days...

  • Smart ac adapter power output is too low for this computer on business notebook 6830s

    Hallo,
Sometimes he is charging, sometimes he isn't.
I think it's a bad contact between the plug of the power adapter and connector on the motherboard.
Can I do something to improve the contact ?
    thanks

That sounds as if that could be the case. Is the power adapter an original HP or is it an aftermarket brand?
If your notebook was delivered with a 65 Watt Power adapter the it is recommended that you replace it with an identical power adapter. Don't try to second guess the engineers who designed the notebook.
    Best regards,
    erico
I believe it is an original power supply; the model number is noted in my original post. I really would like to agree with you about second-guessing the engineers, but I have seen too many poorly designed systems, including one in particular from HP.
At my last job, our CTO was an HP fanatic, and owned the largest and most powerful HP notebook at the time. I helped him to order a docking station for it based upon the HP compatibility list. When the docking station was connected, he encountered numerous strange power-related problems, and especially had problems with USB devices connected to the docking station ports.
It turned out after a bit of experimentation that the power supply that came with the docking station was inadequate to power the set-up, and using a larger supply completely resolved the issue.
However in my case it does appear this might be a dead or counterfeit supply. I will test it on my colleague's notebook, since it is identical except that he is running Windows (SP)7. I will update you with my findings. Thanks for your help.
    Cheers,
    Tom

  • APC Smart-UPS no power

My rule has been that if the electronics (not talking about replacing batteries) are dead, it is not worth the cost of repair.
If it is a really old smart-ups, the electronics are actually quite simple.  If it is one of the newer advanced controller versions, you are going to have some difficulty.

A few weeks back we had a power surge that sent a rack mount UPS offline.  We could not get it back online.  Replaced with a new one once it came in from order.  UPS did not have a warranty on it any more.  Are these worth looking in to getting repaired?  Or do most people usually send the unit to the Junk pile.  The batteries seem to be fine and saving for a replacement on another UPS if needed.  Just wondering what direction to head in

  • 85W Adaptor compatibility? Most chargers don't work?

Never seen anyone else with this problem, but in short my computer is finicky about what charger is going to work and what won't. The two that I own both work. My girlfriend's charger sometimes works. When I forget my charger on my way to work the ones there (65W, but my girlfriend has used them before and never had a problem) don't work. They recently got a bunch of new ("L") 85W adaptors, which sometimes work. I reset my motherboard yesterday in hopes of fixing that and it did, eventually. It started charging about 20 minutes after leaving it plugged in. Today it decided it wouldn't work at all.
Anyone know what's up with this?

There is a long thread here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2448955&tstart=50
about the new power adaptors with the "L" connector not working for non-UniBody MBPs. Sounds like a fit problem and Apple apparently doesn't sell the older "T" adaptors any more.
This comment was posted on the Apple Store page for that adaptor:
Own Early 2008 MBP and Late 2009 MBP. Works on the unibody, does not on my early 2008. The port on the new MacBooks are smaller and more shallow, this charger reflects this change and will not make contact with older ports found on non-unibody. Buyer beware, save yourself the hassle and find an 'I" MagSafe charger if you have a non-unibody.
If you or someone else purchased the new adaptors from the specs that say "15 and 17- MacBook Pro" with the expectation it works on any MBP, I suspect a call to Apple Customer Relations (1-800-767-2775) is in order.

  • Hp smart ac adapter (power supply)

what is the difference between the ac smart adapter 90w-19.5v and 65w-19.5v?
if i use 65w-19.5v ac adapter instead of  90w-19.5v ac adapter , will it create any harm to my laptop or laptop battery..?

IF your notebook was delivered with the 90Watt unit and you switch to a 65 watt unit, you may find that you start seeing warnings popup onscreen that caution you that the power supply is no providing enough charging capacity.
It won't hurt the notebook at all, but it is not good for the main battery.
The warning means that the battery is likely to not be fully charged by the 65 Watt power adapter.  If your battery does not get fully charged, its service life may not be as long as expected. The main battery is warranteed to one year. With most notebooks, owners get two or more  years of use from a battery. That is only if the battery was charged properly.

  • 40px200E - smart TV - no power

I bought this Toshiba 40" smart tv in Singapore but in less than 2 years of use, the power conk out. I have another tv, of different brand, which is 1 year older than this smart tv and is still working even if it was partially submerged in flood water.
The Toshiba warranty website does not recognize this smart tv and its serial number (40PX200E and SN XXXXXXXXXXXXXX) so I am not sure if it is still under warranty. I also brought it to the Philippines hence I am at loss on how to have it repaired.
I bought this smart tv over other brands because I believed Toshiba produce tough and reliable products. I still hope that Toshiba will be able to help me fixed their product.
    Thanks.

[Moderator edit to remove serial number.]

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region.

  • DVI to ADC adaptor: Display power button no longer works w/G5?

I'm looking for answers on a topic originally brought up in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=221092&tstart=45
concerning the Studio Display's power button when attached to an ADC/DVI adapter for use on a G5.
I am having the same problem. I had previously used the monitor directly attached to an MDD G4, and the power button worked fine. Now that it's attached to the adapter, I can't power up the G5. The brightness button will open the Monitors prefpane, so I would say that it's not a problem with the overall USB system.
Otherwise things work fine, so it's not the end of the world, but I'd like some confirmation or denial of the problem just to know if there's a defect or not.
    TIA
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It is working normally. ADC has extra pins to support the power button and light. DVI connectors don't have these pins, so there is no way for the DVI to ADC adapter to make the power button work.

  • Samsung Smart Panel - compatibility with Mac OS X Lion

Am using a MacBook Air with OS X Lion and have a Samsung CLP-315 color laser printer in the office.  My concern is that the Smart Panel does not seem to work with 10.7 Lion.  This is a bummer since I can't seem to determine the amount of toner left in my cartridges, unlike when I was using 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Does anybody know if the Smart Panel is already compatible with 10.7 Lion - or alternatively, does anyone know how I can determine the content of my toner cartridges?  The LEDs on the control panel on the printer only tells me when they're actually empty - so it doesn't really help.

Smart panel works OK for me on Lion but the printer is CLP325-w. (though only recently updated and Im pretty sure it was ok on the CLP315 too.
To check status go to system preferences>Print&Scan and the check the options and supplies box. You should be able to see 4 toner levels.
Also, what happens when you actually choose to print? On mine I get a box appear which actually shows toner levels each time.
I'm not actually in the office right now so I'll check later and post again if I can add anything.

  • Smart phone compatibility

I want to buy a Nokia C3-00, but I would like to know, if C3-00 is a smart phone, for example can I be online on messenger or ICQ and without logging off/shutting down this application, just minimize and check my SMS or make a call?

Nokia C3 is NOT a "smartphone".
Its a simple S40 phone with added WiFi and Qwerty keyboard and some preloaded apps/widgets for social networking, that's all.
It doesn't have Symbian OS and as such is incapable of multitasking.
E5 has a very simmilar design and comes with Symbian S60v3 fp2, plus its really nice for its price too, maybe you'd consider that one instead?

  • Smart phone compatability

I want to sync my new Nokia to my contacts. Cingular tells me that it is not compatable with I-Mac, just Windows. Is there software I can install that will make it compatable? I'm also thinking of installing Outlook on my I-mac. Can I buy Outlook for my I-Mac without buying the software suite (WORD, PP, Excel, etc...)?

Erm... it might help if you mentioned which model it is, (out of the dozens of phones Nokia makes), that you want to sync with your Mac.
Have you checked the following pages to see if your mystery phone is already supported?
