How do I get photos out of iphone and in PC
I have a PC. How in the world do I get my 90 photos out of the iphone and onto my pc without having to email them one at a time to myself. Can someone please help me. I am sure I am overlooking something very simple.
PerryWhen your iPhone includes photos in the camera roll - which are photos that were captured by your iPhone, or photos saved from a received email or from a website, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer. One option with Windows is using the Camera and Scanner wizard.

How can I get rejected photos out of LR5 and off the HD?
When I try to deleted rejected photos in LR5 on my iMac, I get a dialog saying they can't be sent to the trash. How can I get unwanted photos out of LR5 and off the hard drive?
Instead of hitting just the delete key, you need to hit ⌘+Del and one of the choices will be to remove from hard drive.

Iphoto 08 won't open - crashes, how to get photos out
we have iphoto 08 and i can't open it, just spits up an error message. I don't think we've changed anything on since i last used it so i don't understand why it doesn't work. I've tried the command+option key to rebuild the library and that also just spits up an error report...
The error report is below - it means nothing to me but would love it if someone could tell me how to fix it. Also how do i get the photos out of iphoto and onto a hard drive, given i can't transfer them as i usually would through iphoto?

I keep getting logged out of iCloud and iMessenger on my iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3
I keep getting logged out of iCloud and iMessenger on my iPhone 5s. I have iOS 8.1.3, I've logged out of everything, restarted, logged back in, I've fully erased and reset the phone, I've done everything every blog has suggested and it is still not working properly. I've even had to fully erase my iPad because it started acting as the primary device so I was not getting any messages on my iPhone. I did update my password a while ago but even after that the phone and iPad were working fine, then within the last few month's I've been dealing with this issue.
Please help, I've literally tried every fix everyone has suggested on this subject and nothing is working. I'm strongly tempted to change from an Apple device at this point.Reset your phone - no data loss
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If that does not fix the problem - back up your phone to iTunes and restore as new
See if the problem is solved before you restore from backup or load any apps
Please post your results

Create Smart Collection for Photos Without Lens Profile Applied?
The subject pretty much says it all. Is there any way to create a smart collection of photos that have not had lens profile corrections applied?
Sadly, it's not possible using the options avilable within Lr's Smart Collection dialog. However, some third party plugins might be able to do it, although I'm not aware of any.

Moving photos OUT of iPhoto and/or Aperture
I would like to move my photos OUT of the iPhoto library. I would prefer to house them on an external drive. I want them in a directory strucutre that looks something like this:
Photos/Year/Date_Event/picture.jpg
This is my structure on my PC
When I view the "contents" of the iPhoto Library package, I see a subdirectory called Originals, as well as another called Masters. Which directory actually contains the original files.
When I've tried to copy the photos from either of these locations, the copy action begins copying another iPhoto Library, and that's not what I'm after.
I hope this isn't too confusing.
In simpler terms, I'd like iPhoto and/or Aperture to work like iTunes can. The database has a pointer to the original that exists OUTSIDE of the actual library itself.
Is this possible? This is trivial on Aperture, use the Relocate Masters command. Pay more for the app you get more options.
It's not possible on iPhoto unless you start over from scratch with a whole new Library - and even then, there really, really is no need. It's also very unwise, with iPhoto to have the Photos on one volume and the Library on another.
Finally, what you have on Windows is basic File Management. The problem with that is that as a system it sees no difference between a Photo and a Word file or mp3. Yet each of these has options specific to the type of data they contain, and the file system misses all of that. Hence iPhoto (and Aperture) are designed for people who want to organise their photos and not the files that contain them.
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing. The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
This is an attractive option for some users at face value, but it contains a significant number of issues that you might want to consider before making the decision to run a Referenced Library
How to do it:
iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck the box at 'Copy items to the iPhoto Library'
Now when you import iPhoto makes an alias in the Library Package that points to the stored file. Note: iPhoto still creates a thumbnail of the image and it makes a Preview of edited photos inside the Library Package.
Issues?
1. You are responsible for file management. That's more work:
You must first move the files from your camera to the storage location before importing.
If you want to delete files then you must first trash them from iPhoto and then afterwards find them in your storage and trash them.
Thereafter, you cannot move the files on early versions of iPhoto at all, on iPhoto 08 and later you may move them on the same Volume or Disk. If you move them to a new volume or disk the aliases my break. If they are on an different volume and you move them the aliases will break.
You cannot rename the files.
Migrating: moving to a new machine, moving the files to another disk are all a lot more complex.
2. You gain no extra functionality from running a Referenced Library. Nothing. This is just storage. You still manage the files via iPhoto. You edit them with iPhoto or via iPhoto's External Editor setting, otherwise you're changes will not be available in iPhoto. You don't save byte of storage space.
3. If you have the Library on one volume and the photos on another you if anything changes in the path to a file (Like if you upgrade your machine, move the files on the NAS or on to another one?) then the alias will break, and you'll have to repair it manually. For every photo in the Library. One at a time.
Why do you want to run a Referenced Library?
Because my photos won't fit on my HD?
You can run a Managed library from an external disk. Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
You're worried about accessing the files?
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.

Can't get photos out of the trash?
I just tried using iPhoto Diet on my library (around 10,000 photos & 9GB). It moved a bunch of photos into the Trash that, it turns out, aren't duplicates. So, I want to take them out of the Trash and put them in my main library.
The trouble is, I can't seem to do that. I've created a new folder to put the files into, but when I drag the photos out of the trash the icon never changes to the green "plus" sign that you normally see. I've tried using the "Export..." command but it's greyed out.
Is there any way I can get these photos out of the Trash? I'm a little confused right now! This is iPhoto 6.0.5 under OS X 10.4.8 (PPC).Hi Terrence,
Sorry, you're right: what I meant was that I couldn't put them back in an Album, not a Folder. Interestingly enough, I just created another Album and tried it again. I selected all the photos (around 900) that were in the iPhoto Trash, then dragged them into my new album.
The cursor turned into the green "plus" icon as if it were ready to let me move the files out of the Trash. Then, strangely, iPhoto didn't draw a black box over the destination album like it normally does. I clicked on the new album I'd just created, and it was empty. Stranger still, it looks like the photos have all been put back in their correct albums?! -
How to get photos out of phone ... 101 here...
Found a massive amount of information on this, but nothing that addresses the simple, basic question ... how do you get the photos out of your iPhone (3Gs), into a Mac?
I've done it before, but it's been a while... iTunes in the "photos" tab with the iPhone plugged in offers several grayed out options, but you need to check a box before any can be selected.
Checking that box causes a message to appear saying it'll delete all photos on your phone.
How am I supposed to get the photos out of my phone if iTunes will 1st delete them?
Latest iPhone, latest software update...applenom wrote:
Various thumbdrives are recognized in both USB 2.0 ports.
I am communicating now via a Verizon Wireless device (with up-to-date software) which is being recognized in one of the USB 2.0 ports.
A new model Samsung camera purchase the same day as the IPhone is recognized in either of the USB 2.0 port.
So this thing that is wrong with my computer only ever reveals itself when the IPhone is plugged into it. Odd, but I suppose stranger things have happened. I will admit that this all brings back bad memories of doing phone support for an ISP which trained me to blame the hardware or the OS for any problem which took more than six minutes to resolve.
You may not remember, but each time you connected one of those devices for the first time Windows had to install drivers for it. You would have seen messages in the system tray "Windows has detected new hardware..." "Windows is installing drivers for your new hardware...", etc. For some of them you may have even had to install from a CD because Windows did not have default drivers for them. Every time you connect a new thumbdrive Windows will install drivers for it, even if it identical to another thumbdrive that has already been installed.
Now if you please, Lawrence, it is the remainder of your post which seems contradictory.
COMPLETELY uninstall iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US. Do not skip any steps. Then reboot your computer. Download and install the latest version of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/. You must be logged on as an account with administrator privileges to install. Before installing it disable your firewall and antivirus.
Reboot after installing. Take a picture with the iPhone camera, then connect it to your computer. Open My Computer and look for the iPhone as a camera.
I called Apple support who told me to download and install Itunes, which I did. No help. In fact I can't see anything photo-related in the Itunes menu.
That's because it isn't an iTunes function. It is a camera to Windows, not to iTunes.
If as you say (and I believe you) this is not: "an ITunes function. It is a camera to Windows, not to iTunes" then why am I directed to undertake this ornate, skip-no-steps un-installation and re-installation of ITunes in order to get my PC to recognize the IPhone as a camera?
To an expert the answer may be obvious but it eludes me. Please forgive my ignorance which may arise from lack of familiarity with the Apple technology.
Once again, any assistance will be gratefully appreciated.
See my comment about drivers above. When you first connect the iPhone to your computer Windows must install drivers for it, just like for every other camera, thumbdrive, cellular modem, mouse, keyboard or anything else plugged in to any port on your computer. Windows looks for a driver in c:\windows\system32\drivers and if it finds a matching driver it installs it. If it doesn't or if the driver it finds is the wrong one (which can happen pretty easily) the device won't work. You may or may not get a fleeting message in the system tray saying "a problem occurred installing the device".
For the iPhone Windows needs to install 2 drivers, one for iTunes and one for the camera. Neither of these drivers are "known" to Windows, because the iPhone was released years after Windows XP. Part of the iTunes installation puts the right drivers in c:\windows\system32\drivers so Windows can find them the first time you connect the phone.
It seems likely that the camera driver was not installed properly, or Windows chose an incompatible camera driver. By completely uninstalling iTunes you remove any out-of-date drivers that might have been left by a previous installation. Installing the latest version of iTunes also installs the latest version of the phone and camera drivers. Then, when you connect the phone after reinstallation the proper drivers may be selected by Windows.
There are still things that can go wrong. For example, if you have a Logitech webcam or a Lexmark scanner that do not have the latest drivers Windows will "think" those are the right drivers for the iPhone camera and the iPhone still won't work, and connecting it may cause Windows to crash. But removing and reinstalling iTunes is a good second step (after updating the webcam or scanner drivers if you have either of these devices). -
How to get alerts out of SCOM and into a 3rd party management tool
Hi
I am creating an integration between a 3rd party management tool and System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2. I need to export alerts such as Power Off / Power On / Configuration change for both virtual machines and hyperv servers from SCOM
into our application. Our application runs on linux so I cannot do any .NET programming, however I can run Powershell scripts remotely using WinRM.
What is the best way to do this? I am aware of using the powershell cmdlet Get-SCOMAlert but is there any other way that does not involve polling?
thanks in advanceThink of Orchestrator as a "router", that will route information and workflows between SCOM, and [insert 3rd party product here]. Depending on your 3rd party product, there may be an "integration pack" for it that Orchestrator can use for out of the
box tasks.
So what's an integration pack? Well - think of it like a management pack, but for Orchestrator. SCOM does monitoring, but it doesn't know how to monitor something unless you install the relevant management pack. The management pack contains
all the rules/monitors for monitoring whatever it is you wish to monitor.
Well, an integration pack is similar in concept, except it tells Orchestrator how to interface and integrate with whatever it is you're trying to perform tasks with.
For what you want to do, there is a SCOM integration pack. This is a set of tasks that can get alerts and events out of Operations Manager (there are also tasks that can create and close alerts in Operations Manager).
From what I can imagine - you would want to get alerts out of SCOM when they happen (so you would use one of the SCOM orchestrator tasks to "get alert if status = new, and source = myapplication"), and then you can pass that alert to another task - such
as write it to a CSV file or something. You could then have another task that picks up that CSV file, and passes it to your application where it can be captured. Or you could use the CSV to populate variables in a powershell script, and then powershell
that information into your app.
There are many ways you could do this, but I do believe that Orchestrator would be the better option.

How do I get photos out of iPhoto?
I do not want to use iPhoto. I am going to use Adobe Photoshop for editing and organizing. Most of my images are not under iPhoto, but about 4 months of them are. How do I access these images without iPhoto. I tried to export them, but it did not work. My HD is almost full and I picked about 2500 at once. Does the export feature create another copy? I don't want extras taking up space on the hard drive either.
Thanks for any help!
JulieMy HD is almost full and I picked about 2500 at once. Does the export feature create another copy?
Yes, exporting will create another copy.
Inside the iPhoto Library the photos are not easily accessible. You could extract the "Masters" folder, but the organisation is not really easy to use.
Why not exporting your images in smaller batches, say 200 photos at a time? Export them to separate folders in your Pictures folder, or whereever you want them; check, that the export succeeded, and then delete them from your iPhoto library after exporting. Don't forget to empty the trash in iPhoto and on your Desktop. This way you will not need much duplicate space.
But I strongly recommend to make a backup copy of your iPhoto library on an external drive before you do that, just in case you discover later that some images did not export correctly.
Also, you know that you can use Photoshop from within iPhoto, if you setPhotoshop as external editor?

How do I get music out of "icloud" and turn it off? Didn't/don't want it.
How do I get my music out of icloud and turn it off? Didn't/don't want my music in the clouds, I want it in my ipod where I can listen to it.
Thank you.You can go into your settings and turn icloud off. It will remove what is there. Your music is on your ipod and you should be able to listen to it. icloud stores the music to share/update your other devices - ipad, iphone etc. so you only need to make a chage on one device. The cloud changes it in all other devices.

I want to have my photo files all in one place. I want them out of the Apeture libary structure.
Thank you
JoeHello Joe,
do you want to continue using Aperture or do you want to manage your images yourself?
If you want to continue using Aperture, but to be able to browse your images without launching Aperture, then relocate your master image files:
Select all images in the Browser
Use the File menu: File -> Relocate master and select a folder, where you want to store the master image files.
Be warned, that you must not edit, change, tag these files in any way, unless using Aperture itself to do the modification. Otherwise the link between master image files and version in Aperture may be broken.
Make sure you have a working backup of your Aperture Library before you do that.
But why do you want access to your images outside Aperture? Aperture as a digital asset management system is supposed to be able to manage you images in versatile a way, to give you access to all information you need. So what are you missing?

Léonie

My ix2 has been running quite nicely for a long while now with 2 2tb drives in Raid 1. Recently I noticed it has stopped spinning down. It has gone through this before. I have not changed any settings other than keeping up with all firmware updates.
