Smart collection shows as not in a collection

I am hoping my 100% answered questions are kept up with this one :O)
I am trying to do a collection that contains all images that are not in a collection (including smart collections).
1) Is this possible?
I ask because logic says that if the search finds images then puts them in this collection, that wil mean that they are no longer without a collection, a bit of a continuous circle!
2) I have tried to do the above with what I thought was sucess, 6000 of my 11,000 images were found which I initially thought to be correct. However on thorough investigation I have found that images in SMART collections are classed as not being in a collection. I proved this by right clicking the image and selecting "Show in Collection" and every smart collection image always returns the greyed out "Not in a collection".
By the way, the search I set up was:
Collection.....Doesn't contain......a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z

Its a shame LR seems to class smart collections as more of a query or a search rather than an "automatic" collection. It would be nice to filter to show all photos NOT in any type of collection, which would make deleting images easier (for me anyway).
An example was I have some poor quality photos which I deleted (I don't want to bloat my catalog!) only to find out later that they belonged to a smart collection which had a particular significance which I wanted to keep. I had right clicked on them to see if they were in a collection, which showed as none.
This means that in my type of workflow I can sadly not use smart collections and all of their advantages.
Hopefully in LR 3.0?

Another oddity with custom metadata
I have several Smart Collections set up, filtering on custom metadata. I'm having a problem with one in particular which, after updating an unrelated field, shows the wrong contents.
It filters on two string fields and an enumerated field:
- string Reference contains "0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ..."
- string Status doesn't contain "Copy"
- enum Licence is "Unset", where "Unset" is defined as "nil".
On loading Lightroom, this shows what it should. However, I also have a function called from a menu which updates a *different* enumerated field, setting it's value to one of nil, '0' or '1'. After running this function, this smart collection shows the same contents as another Smart Collection - coincidentally the next one in the list. The second filter is:
- enum Sync is "Yes"
- enum Sync is not "Unknown"
- string Status doesn't contain "Copy".
The additional "is not unknown" is needed because the first line returns images for both "Yes" and "Unknown" - data values "1" and nil respectively.
Looks to me as though there's a problem with smart filters and enumerated fields with nil values. Restarting Lightroom restores the contents of the first collection to what they should be.

I don't have the option of "title dosn't contain words", my option is "Title" and "doesnt contain", i.e. without the word "words". There is an option "contains words" but not "doesn't contain words".
I have the same smart collection that works well. My parameters are like this:
You could also use lower case letters in the third field.
You don't need the first two lines. They constrain the smart Collection to a certain folder and image files that are not JPG.
PS. Oh, I see. You put "words" in the third field? That doesn't work. Then all images with titles that doesn't contain the word "words" will be displayed - probably all.

Windows 8.1 laptop computer not showing in SCCM 2012 devices collection

I am trying to do a POC on license management from SCCM 2012. I have configures a SCCM 2012 server and intune subscription also. I have Android, iOS and desktop apps uploaded (.msi). when I enrolled android and ios devices its shows up in SCCM,
devices collection but do not show in Intune.
my company portal is nicely coming up on android and iOS tabs. on the other hand company portal showing only Web apps, on a win8.1/7 laptop.
When I tried to enroll 2 windows 8.1/ 7 laptop (intel x86), they donot show up in SCCM. clients of intune manually installed, endpoint protection of SCCM installed also on both boxes.
I tried updating membership in SCCM for both know and unknown type, many time and also triggered Deployment of some desktop app, to the win 8.1 laptops. the desktops are showing in Intune All devices -> all computers nicely. But
not in SCCM2012.
what did I missed, I tried to add all the logical roles. below is some details what shows up in Intune:

If you installed the Intune agents on the Win 8.1 and Win 7 systems, then they will never show up in ConfigMgr.
There are basically two parts of Intune -- a Mobile Device Management piece and a Windows management piece. The Intune connector in ConfigMgr takes over the MDM piece and nothing more. When ConfigMgr takes over this MDM piece, as Torsten said, all MDM devices
enrolled show up in ConfigMgr and not Intune because that's now controlled by ConfigMgr. The Windows management piece remains unchanged and separate though and so those systems will be directly managed by Intune only or ConfigMgr only.
So you have three options there:
- Install the ConfigMgr agent and managed using COnfigMgr
- Install the Intune agent and manage using Intune
- Enroll the systems using OMA-DM which manages them as if they were devices. This means so you don't get SCEP or Windows Updates or most of the other ConfigMgr functionality. This is only valid for Win 8.1 though.

What would the Smart Collection criteria be to isolate files in a folder but NOT in a collection?

QUESTION
I'd be very curious to know, does anyone know how to search on a section of a full folder path rather than on the individual parts of that?
My folders are structured by LR at import, as (e.g.) 2014 / 01 / 27 for 27th Jan 2014.
So if I wanted to use a Smart Collection to search for (among other things) images in July 2013, I can search multiply on includes all of "2013" and "07" but that also throws up in my case, images which were taken on the 7th day of other months during 2013. I could search on a date range, though that's a little more laborious, or else do what I otherwise prefer, which is by keywords and other attributes plus (possibly) just year.
If I could search on folder path includes the string "2013/07" this would work fine. But I haven't found a syntax that does that (yet, assuming it is possible at all).

Create a smart collection with criteria "collection" and "does not contain"; and also with criterion Folder contains (or folder contains all)
That works if you are thinking about a specific named collection.
If you are interested in finding photos that are not in ANY collection, the usual trick is "collection" "does not contain" "a e i o u y"

Stacking not available in Collections

Is stacking supposed to be available in collections. Stacking shows in the explorer view but is unavailable in collections. Is this normal? If stacking is available in collections, can sombody tell me what I need to do to make the stacking options available.

Please be assured, that it is not my intent to bother you, other Forum participants, and LR developpers with "what I can not do with LR" ....
unless it is something that is very important for me and
unless I can not figure out, how I can do what I want/need to do.
I guess, that the main difference between yourself and myself, is my need to do most of my organization and development work, while viewing my photos as part of a Collection. For me, PSE Collections (and also LR Collections) are essential. I had long battles behind me, to convince PSE Development to improve their support of PSE Collections. Because I was not the only one who needed a better Collection support, PSE has indeed over time enhanced its support of Collections.
Now, I would like to migrate from an environment
"PSE Organizer + PSE Editor"
to an emvironment "LR Library + LR Develop + (for some of those Editing functuions that are not available in LR) PSE Editor"
And again, to be able to do my work reasonably, I need a bettrer LR Collection support. What I am missing in the current LR Collection support is the full Stacking/Unstacking mechanism/manipulation.
You might wonder, why the Collection support is essential for me. When working on my photos, I want to arrange my photos in such a manner that similar photos are adjacent to each other. To do so, I create with the photos that i want to work on a Collection and re-arrange the photos within the collection in such a way that similar photos are (within the sequence that i create) adjacent to reach other. This sequence is often neither the Capture-Time nor the file-Name Sequence. Often the photos that i am working on have neither been shot in the same hour, in the same day, or even the same year. They are often located in multiple different folders.
To arrange in a persistent way similar photos in the sequence of my choice, I am not aware of another PSE or LR mechanism than Collections.
This is why I do most of my work while viewing Collections (as opposed to viewing photos of a folder).
While doing my work when Viewing Collections, I need to be able to do a lot of things that LR supports. Among other, I need the stacking support. The Stacking support is for me probably much more essential than for you, because
I need to do a lot of external and destructive editing with PSE and I need to organize the multiple externally edited versions in Stacks (this is something that LR Supports as an option ...but unfortunately stacking is not supportede within Collections!)
I have already 30'000 Photos organized with PSE. These many Photos are organized within PSE Collections (that the PSE--> LR Catalog conversion process converts into LR Collections) and within PSE Versionsets (that the catalog conversion Process converts into LR stacks). This conversion process is nearly perfect for me....the only essential thing that I am missing within this conversion process: the possibility to expand/collapse Stacks while viewing and working-on the Collectionsv that have been converted vfrom PSE to LR.

I can’t afford to buy Photoshop just to construct two special capital letters. I’ve used the B and M in my logo for Balquhidder Music for years - but from jpgs - and I was hoping to have more flexibility in the future. I spent $169 to make sure I am in compliance. Actually, when Adobe moved from Type 1 fonts to OpenType CFF fonts, all the so-called “expert typefaces” were consolidated into the base fonts. In other words Adobe Garamond Pro Regular not only has the Western Latin characters of the original Type 1 version of Adobe Garamond, but also has alternate Latin capitals (with titling, titling floating accents, and stylistic alternates), alternate Latin lowercase (swash and superiors), Latin small capitals (alphabetic and floating accents), ligatures, multiple numeric forms (including lining tabular, lining proportional, oldstyle tabular, oldstyle proportional, superscripts, scientific inferior, numerator, denominator forms, fractions, mathematical operators, etc.) plus a raft of other special symbols.
OpenType fonts are Unicode-based and allow for more than the 256 characters in Type 1 fonts which required multiple typefaces all with mappings to a standard keyboard to accommodate all these glyphs.
Thus, hopefully your disappointment will turn to joy.
To assist you in understanding OpenType fonts and to show you what is in the current Adobe Garamond fonts, I have attached a few PDF files for your perusal.

Collection art is not downloading with files...

...at first I thought it was just us but downloading other content, I have noticed other universities collection art is not downloading. Has anyone else noticed this problem on the most recently uploaded content?
I emailed apple about this and they told me to post it here.

I actually have the same thing happening to me. I set up the iTunes U for the college and everything shows up fine but when something is downloaded on the computer it does not get the artwork. But when I tried it on my ipod touch it downloaded the artwork fine.

Collection Membership Rules - Query returns object, Collection shows no members..?

I'm hoping i have just made a simple error / change and not noticed, however at the moment and not for all Collections, i am having issues with Membership.
Problem:
Adding a Computer Object into an AD Group and using a Membership Query (Of the AD Group) to add members to a collection will not work.
Info:
I have added a PC to an AD Group "MS Office 2010", forced AD Group Discovery, made a Query and run it to test (Works, shows the member) and added the query to the Membership Rules Tab (Add Rule > Query Rule > Import Query)
If i then "Update Membership" and/or refresh the collection membership it still does not appear, thus not receiving the software i have advertised to it.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Since this is CM07, it will take a while for new groups to be populated. If I remember right you MUST do the following in the following order.
Create the group and add members
Wait for AD replication to happened
Reboot the computers
Force AD group discovery to happen
Force Heartbeat discovery to happen
Create/ force the collection membership to up
Run the machine policies
If you use direct membership rule of the security Group:
Create the group and add members
Wait for AD replication to happened
Force AD group discovery to happen
Create/ force the collection membership to up
Reboot the computers (anytime after step 2)
Machine policies should run automatically
BTW, in CM12 this process has change and it now take ~2 minutes an applciaiton to show on on the computer.

Collection album artwork not appearing in iTunes U PSM via feed

Hi,
I uploaded a new collection to iTunes U via public site manager in the same way I always do but for some reason the Collection image is not showing on the landing page or the collection page. It all works fine on my feedburner feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/PhotographySymposium2011 but not at http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=446661118
I've tried deleting and restoring both the feedburner feed and the iTunes U collection page but to no avail. Any other suggestions would be most welcomed as the site now looks a little shabby.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I think read somewhere that iTunes U images should be 300x300. Your image is 320x320 so perhaps try resizing the image.

HT3350 what can you do when you get this warning? "Scouting Book Collection Index" could not be handled because Numbers cannot open files in the "Numbers Document" format.

This file was created in 2002 in MSword but this had been forgotten.
When I went to open it.... (MSword) was not a program option on my laptop. For some reason, I assumed that either Pages or Numbers wouild open the file. How the file was created was forgotten and had no file Info, but I new that it was a table of valuable information.
The warning threw me off, because it led me to believe that it was a Numbers file. which Numbers would not open. A paradox.
I took the file to a laptop in OSXpanther with MSoffice and it opened in MSword. Problem Solved.

I have written a trigger and it was working fine before in APEX. I have amended update statement inside the trigger and trying to compile. It was throwing me error as below and not being to save the trigger. Also i have taken out the update satement, it is not being compile. I have done many excercise that drop the trigger and re-create the trigger with new name, and same name. It gives me the same error.

The 'sync collections' setting does not copy books or PDFs between devices - all it does is if you have the book on both devices and you move it into a collection on one of them, then it will be put into the same collection on the other device.
You will need to sync each PDF that you want on your phone. If you don't currently have them on your computer then connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and if using a Mac with Mavericks on it do File > Move Books From iTunes in the iBooks app on it, and you can then sync them to your iPhone.
