If I deciphered your message correctly, you dropped your iPad and now you want Apple to pay for it?
Should you ever have a crash with your car, are you also going to blame your car manufacturer and say that you are not satisfied with their product?

  • Smart cover will damage the ipad mini

Just a heads up. The smart cover for the ipad mini has magnets in the spine of the cover that attaches it to the mini and will wear through the material with normal use and will dig into the ipad mini leaving large deep gouges in it. Apple Care considers this damage as "accidental damage", like dropping it, and will charge you to replace it. So If you have a smart cover for your ipad mini, I suggest you stop using it before it damages the device. I've been using it for 6 months which isn't very long, and you don't really expect that a case you bought from apple to protect your device will damage your device just by using it, until you remove the case and see that the damage has already been done.

I use a different "smart cover" than you, but try this: Go to Settings/General/Lock-Unlock. Make sure the feature is enabled by toggling it green. If you've already enabled, toggle the feature off, then on (green).

  • My smart cover has damaged my ipad

My smart cover damaged my iPad 2 where the magnets attach to the iPad it caused damage to the rear of the iPad and appears to have rubbed through the rear of the iPad. Will apple replace my iPad and case? It looks terrible and I'm afraid the problem will get worse

I think the post implied what I've noticed with my iPad + smart cover as well: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17544537#17544537

  • Is there a protective travel case for the iPad2 that will cover the smart cover as well?

Is there a protective travel case for the iPad2 that will cover the smart cover as well?

There are a variety of well-made sleeves from SF Bags which will accommodate the Smart Cover. I'm partial to the neoprene bags and sleeves from Bult NY and I use this "hoodie" netbook sleeve (in black) for extra protection when I'm traveling or in the field because it has a rigid shell to protect the back and sides:

For everyday, I slip my iPad, with the SmartCover on, into a small neoprene messenger bag, whose 6 pockets hold my iPad, a wireless keyboard (in a sleeve from SF Bags), Kindle, iPad, and cables /chargers:

  • My iPad 2 smart cover keeps making scratches and damages my iPad

Help this smart cover scratches and damages my iPad 2
It started out fine when I got it but after a while it got dirty and well u know the rest

Agreement with skyupi. To clean mine, I just got my hands soapy and rubbed it on both sides. Rinse it off and I'd set it to dry. Cleans real well.

  • Does Anyone Make A Leather iPad mini Smart Cover (Not a Case)

I'm looking for a leather smart cover for the iPad mini (not a case that also covers the back). Does anyone make one?

I found a few options by doing a web search for "ipad mini leather smart cover". Whether any would suit you I can't say, but you can look into the available options.
    Regards.

  • Ipad2 smart cover is  not smart !!!!!

my ipad 2 was scrached on the back from the smart  cover magnet, does apple cover that ?

I have always suspected that this could happen but I am always ultra careful if I need to reposition or remove/reattach the SmartCover.
I even keep the Ipad2 & SmartCover in a tightly fitting slip case when not in use, without scratching issues thus far.
So far I have no scratches but do have to remove a powdery black hinge residue occasionally.
Apple may be more sympathetic but I would put your issue down to fair wear and tear.

  • Will the smart cover damage the other side of the screen?

I notice that the smart cover magnetically attaches only on one side of the ipad. However, i on a number of occassions left the smart cover in a position where it made contact with the other side of the ipad where it doesnt magnetically attaches. When this happens, the screen blanks out for a moment, until i get the smart cover out of the way. Can someone enlighten me on does this blanking out of the ipad screen or having magnetic stuffs touching the ipad damage any parts of the ipad? Thank you so much for joining this discussion!

No, the minor magnetic interference of the cover will not damage the device. Rest easy

  • Can Smart cover Damages ipad mini's SPEAKERS ?

    HI am from India,
I was using a Smart cover since 7 Months. It was iOS 6 when i started using it Now i Updated my iPad mini to iOS 7 and i experienced the Distortion in Left Speaker everytime whenever i use to restart my Device & Destortion was use to clear automatically when i restarted device again. So i was just curious about this. So i just want to know is there any relation between Smart cover's Magnet and the speakers ?
Note :I dont know the Smart cover is Original Or Duplicate.I restored iOS 7 from service center and now theres not problem YET. So now i was just thinking wether i use smart cover Or not ?

An easy way to tell if the cover is affecting your speakers is to remove it and use the device as you normally do. If the cover is/was indeed affecting your device's speakers, then you'll get no distortion and continue to get no distortion. Then go back and use the device with the cover again to see if you again get the distortion. Do this "with cover"/"without cover" a few times to verify. This is also known as "the process of elimination".
If the cover is causing the issue (not likely in my opinion), your ultimate solution is to get a new cover.

That's funny!  "Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad."  That basically excludes every liquid on the planet, including water!
All I can say is that I've been using a couple of light spritzes of Windex on my iPad when it gets really dirty, and it has not hurt it one bit.

  • Clean an ipad smart cover

    Hi
This is petty and my own fault but it's making me crazy. This Christmas I treated myself to a new ipad air2 with a red smart cover. That makes this not even 3 months old. I had the slightest thumbprint on my cover and with a black microfiber magic cloth and just a dampening of alcohol I tried to remove it and another mark on the cover. What happened was the color from the micro cloth seems to have to have stained my smart cover. I have tried every trick I found on the internet and nothing is removing the stains. It's just making me crazy that a tiny bit of rubbing of the cover could do this much damage. I've tried carpet cleaning, foam, light detergent, detergent spread on the stain and left to soak, oxi-clean paste to soak, erasers with no effective result.
The cover is plastic(polyurethene) how can you stain plastic and not be able to clean it up. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate hearing them.
    Thanks
    RL

It's a little late now but for future reference, you should only use some water and possibly some highly diluted mild detergent (like dish soap) for cleaning. Never use alcohol...it's unpredictable with what it does to different surfaces. Some surfaces are fine while others can react in a negative way.
As far as getting out that stain, I would try to go over the entire surface of the cover with the dish soap, not just the spot. You want to try to blend, not concentrate on the spot. If that doesn't help, I'm afraid you'll have to live with it or get another Smart Cover, with a lesson being learned.
