Smart Cover Sleep problems

I have an iPad 2 and a polyurethane smart cover. Sometimes when I open the cover, the iPad wakes up then dims the display indicating it's going back to sleep. I just open the cover and it pretty much prepares itself for sleep mode right after. Is this normal? Is it a bug in the OS? Does anyone else have this issue?

I have this issue, too. In my opinion, it's a software bug, but is only my opinion. Do you have notices about this?

  • TS2634 iPad Smart Cover sleep mode isn't functioning when top lid is closed, iPad still on.

Smart Cover isn't functioning correctly.  When lid is in place I can still see my iPad on with screen light.  No click sound after lid is place also.  I have remove the Smart Cover and fitted it to my iPad but still Smart Cover sleep mode is not working.

Go to Settings>General and make sure the switch to iPad Smart Cover On/Off is set to On.

  • IPad 2 smart cover sleep/lock problems?

Been using my iPad for a good month now.  I'm loving it.  I have noticed that using the smart cover, you have to have the pass code on in order for the cover to put the device into sleep/wake.  When I have the passcode setting off, the smart cover aligned to device fine but does not give the audible click upon closing.  When passcode if off, I also notice a higher battery drain versus the lock code turned on and I hear the sound click.  Do I have a defective cover?  Suggestions??

Mine has worked fine.  What model do you have, the leather or the other?  I've read of others using screen protectors like Zagg absorbing some of the dye.  Of course considering the cost they are to produce ($12 is what I read for the leather) it doesn't surprise me some of the dye is coming out.  I have wiped my black leather down with high grade leather cleaner / oil and you can clearly see it on the rag.

  • Smart cover's problem?

Can the magnets of the cover create problems for the ipad?

i have the iPad 3 and since the day i bought it (june 2012) i had a smart cover on it.
it eventually started to cause scratches where the magnet joined the iPad as there were metal bits poking out of the case.
i went into apple and i knew that they probably just tell me no to replacing it so i said my ipad had wifi issues (which it sort of did) and then mentioned the scratches they replaced my ipad but only for the wifi issues not the srcatches but refused to replace the cover saying that general wear isnt covered by the warranty but after a long argument (which i won) they replaced the cover with the new case which has no magnets yayyy.
so overall no the the cover yes to the case which is £4 more

  • Smart Cover doesn't put iPad into Sleep mode in Unlock position after iOS 8.3 update

Prior to the iOS 8.3 update, closing my Smart Cover would put my iPad into Sleep mode when in the Unlock position.  Since the update, this function no longer works in the Unlock position.  In the Lock position, I hear the click and the iPad does go into Sleep mode.  Since I am the only one using my iPad, I don't need it locked when at home.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    hi guys. i'm back.
i solved my problem. i refer my iphone 5 to a local distributor. a repairman checked my iphone and i described my problem. he checked my battery. it was fine! then after an hour excavation around hardware solution he told me that the charging kit crashed because of heavy mobility usage!
yes. i did not covered my phone with any cover. the cpu pressure by ios update crashed the kit! now my phone get back after the kit changed and work finally. i restored my phone to ios 8.2 now.
i'm going to buy new iphone. but i'm really confused if such this issue really happened for iphone 6 too!!!!!
    i'm totally disappointed .

I'd take it into my local APple store and have them look at it. There may be something wrong inside your device.

  • My ipad 3 won't go to sleep with Smart Cover or no cover at all

AFter installing iOS 7 my iPad 3 won't go to sleep after closing it's Smart Cover or no cover at all regardless of how long it goes unused.

    Hi Gamguyphil,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I would suggest you check the settings for the Smart Cover -- perhaps toggle the Lock option on & off.
See page 10 of the iPad User Guide below:
    manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1595/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf
If that does not resolve the issue, then follow these steps:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
For additional troubleshooting if necessary, see page 119 in the iPad User Guide above to Reset All Settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose an option:
Reset All Settings: All your preferences and settings are reset.
    Cheers,
    - Judy

  • I'm having problems with iPad 2 and my smart cover.  The attachment seems to be depolarized and it moves around causing the device to toggle and flash like its coming on or shorting.  Anyone having problems?

I'm having problems with iPad 2 and my smart cover.  The attachment seems to be depolarized, trys to connect using the back (curved) edge of the magnetized bracket.  When I try to attach it, it moves around causing the device to toggle in a way that looks like the camera flash.  Anyone having problems? Help.

Update. My carrier says the antenna of my iPhone 4s is not so good as the one in the iPhone 3G. They can't solve the problem. Their signal is too weak for the 4s at places I spend most of my time. Not the answer I expected, but I'm free to choose an other carrier. Hope this will help.
This was not the correct answer, I accidentially clicked the button..

  • My smart cover is scratching my screen and will not put my ipad to sleep what should I do?

Ever since I got my IPad the smart cover half the time does not put the Ipad to sleep. Also, the cover is scratching my screen. This smart cover is really causing me to regret my decision to sell my IPad 1 and get the second generation IPad. Also, Safari is and some of the other apps are constantly crashing, I am getting really frustrated where should I go from here the apple store has not been much of a help?
    P.S.
I hope that this is not like the first generation Apple TV I bought which has never worked correctly (waste of 220 dollars).

  • My iPad 3 sleep/wake no longer triggered by smart cover

My iPad 3 no longer senses the smart cover: when I close the smart cover, it doesn't go to sleep, nor does it wake when I open the smart cover. I also have a Logitech keyboard cover which used to trigger the sleep/wake, but also no longer does, so the issue seems to be in the iPad and not the covers.

Thanks, enabling it in settings resolved the issue.. Must have disabled that setting without noticing it.

  • Smart cover not sending iPad 1 to sleep?

iPad used to go to sleep when I closed the smart cover, but now it doesn't. Any idea why not? OS 5.1.1

If this is an iPad 1, the smart covers are for the iPad 2 and the new iPad.
The cover doesn't work to turn the iPad 1 on and off because the iPad 1 doesn't have the built-in magnets inside the iPad to hold the cover on much less turn the iPad on and off.

  • How can a new iPad smart cover of polyurethane having moister problems

I bought the New iPad with a smart cover, Now after 3 months one side of the smart cover is getting lose and I sent it bach to the store after investigation he said apple doesnot give any garantee becos of moister issues. How is this possible as polyurethane doesnot absorbe moister.
    What can I do?

Yea, I know, I figured it out shortly after. I feel kinda silly now but it just seemed too easy after all the fuss with Apple support. Like I said, if they don't really know what their talking about they go off in all sorts of crazy directions. I wasn't even having Compressor issues like so many others do (told ya my computer never lets me down). Not sure what the lesson here was, Apple Care is usually pretty helpful (or atleast moreso than other tech supports), but next time I'm having trouble with anything remotely music related they will be the last ones I call.
By the way, thanks for the reply anyway and reading my lenghty complaining. I really needed to blow off some steam after that needless ruckus.
