Smart Dialing

Hello All
Apparently my Classic which I bought yesterday doesn't have the "Smart Dialing" menu. I don't know what to do. I want to add local number limit but i can't. The phone doesn't show the caller ID and shows only the numbers.

  • My Z10 does not have a setting of "smart dialing"

hello, I use Blackberry Z10, mode number STL100-2, software verison 10.1.0.4181. however in the phone application, when I tap down the setting options, i could not find "smart dialing". because when the caller calls, even though it is saved on my contact book, the contact name cannot show up. I guess because I saved the number with a country code and when the caller calls the country code does not show up and thus no contact name. please tell me how to enable the "smart dialing" opition on my phone. I just could not see it on the phone setting. I am in China and my country code is 86. thanks.

The only thing I know otherwise is to backup, wipe the device, and load a fresh OS to the device.
If you need help with that, post back with the OS installed currently at Options > About

  • Smart dialing not working for me

I have Alltel, which requires 10 digit dialing.  I turned on the smart dialing feature, and entered my area code.   But every time I dial a 7 digit number, I just get an error message from Alltel that I must use 10 digits.  Is there a trick to getting smart dial working?

Odd, I don't have the "use 1 for National Dialing" setting.
Perhaps you should turn that to Yes.

  • How to enable smart dial in N8

The Nokia N8 is supposed to have a smart dial function but I am not able to enable it. Can anyone point me to the correct instructions to do so?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
PS. I am in Malaysia and could it be the function is only enabled for certain regions?
Current Phone: NOKIA N8 (Best phone ever)

Smart dialing was one of the eagerly awaited features for me! I was a bit angered to find smart dialing missing in my N8. Since it was not available in my N86 as well but available in bugget/entry lever samsung phones!!!
As as anternative you can use Youlu address book for symbian which has a *VERY* fast smart dialing option and very fast threaded (conversation) chat interface too. I have been using it for very long in my N86 and works great.
It has added voice record feature and contracts/SMS cloud sync feature. It's has nice feature too. And the good thing  is that every option that is not needed can be disabled

  • Anyway to disable Smart Dialing and add Edit before dial in phone dialer

Is there any way to disable Smart Dialing in OS 10.2, my old BB with OS 7 can set the country code to "null"
The feature is annoying as in Greater China, we have have 1 sim card with 4 nnumber for HK, China, Taiwan and Macau all with different country code.  The smart dialer alway add the country code to the phone number and call dial unsucessful.
Also in old OS 7 it allow edit before dial, but in OS10.2 I can never edit a phone number after paste in phone dialer, since here we always need to change country code, area code, add a "+" etc

I would suggest what you mentioned as blackberry can support multiple numbers in one contact, so you would only have one contact for say John Smith... but a contact for in country and out of country. Aside from that, I dont believe there has been an app developed for this specific issue.

  • Smart Dialing option not showing in my BB Q10

    Hi,
    I purchased BB Q10.
In my phone "Smart Dialing" Option not coming when i go to setting.
Kindly help me at the earliest.

On your homescreen, click the phone icon in the bottom left corner.  Once that's open, swipe down from the top and choose Settings.  Smart Dialing is under those settings, not the ones on your main homescreen.
    Cheers.

  • Nokia N900 - Smart dialing from portrait mode?

Does the N900 support "smart dialing" from the portait mode numeric key pad?
i.e start to show you matching contacts as you type a string of characters (numbers) from the home screen.

if you have the desktop visible and start typing a name on the keyboard, it opens the contacts app and shows you matching results.. not quite the same, but useful none the less

The person at T-Mobile that told you that either lacks knowledge, or mistakes the "Smartdial" feature with something else.
Here is the official 8320 documentation about Smart Dialing :

  • NOKIA 500: Smart dialing stopped working after con...

I'm having lots of problems with this phone. First, mail inbox mess, with yahoo accounts not syncing at all or ActiveSync problems...
In this case, the smart dialing option stopped working. This happens when I restore contacs from a backup file. I know because I made a hard reset *#7370# and until I restored the contacts, the search function worked. Please, work around this bug.

This process and experience is ridiculous at this point after numerous, unsuccessful tries.
    Update:
Yet again I deleted the \cities folder & qf file from my memory card.  I ran Ovi Maps, my cities folder was re-created, I went to My Position and got the expected red dot. Closed Ovi Maps, enabled Bluetooth, connected with the NMT tool then re-ran the Nokia Map Loader.
Surprisingly, the Nokia Map Loader appeared to connect fine with my device without error. When I selected USA Maps, the tool started downloading, got past the half way point and I saw as message stating "unpacking files".  It was actively copying whatever part of the downloaded files it had grabbed to my memory card.  Great, or so I thought, as this is as far as I've gotten in the last 48 hrs.
I then got an unexpected error in the Nokia Map Loader and the app closed. The error log is in the attached text file on this thread. (EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV))
I restarted the Nokia Map Loader and got the same error to reappear immediately but it re-connected with my device. This is the only app crashing like this on my Mac and giving this error.  Previously, the error was EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT).
Now I'm quite annoyed that the Nokia Map Loader does NOT pick up where it left off in the download process before the app crashed. Therefore, I'm attempting to re-download US Maps for the final time, all 1.5GB of it.  Hopefully it will complete this time.
Not a good Nokia experience regarding mapping updates at all, at least in the Mac environment.

Andy-bb, from the Phone app, when you swipe down from the top and tap the Settings icon, please list here what you see on the screen, what is in the list?
Or better yet, please take a screen shot of that screen and post it here in the forums? you will need 10 posts here to post the image from your computer, or upload the image Flickr or a file sharing site and place the link in your post.

  • Smart dialing problems Colombia

I am a BB 8320 user in Colombia, with COMCEL as my service provider. In Colombia, each cellular service provider has a unique carrier code which must be used to dial internationally. The COMCEL code is 00444, which means that the code 00444 must be dialed before entering the country and city code when dialing internationally.
There are two problems that I am faced with; 1) all my contacts have been entered in my previous contacts data base (which I would like to import into my current BB) using the internally accepted + for international dialing, which will work in most countries without the unique carrier code system, and 2) If I enter my international contact numbers using the 00444 in my contacts database, I will have to manually redial them when I am outside of Colombia. If I enter them using +, the number cant be dialed when within Colombia.
I have activated Smart Dialing and this does no do the trick, as I still must enter 00444 before any international phone number.
The only work around I could think of is to enter two numbers for each of my contacts, one for use in country, and one for use when outside the country. This would not appear to be the most efficient way to do things.
Can anyone suggest a work around that would allow me to use the + symbol in my contacts, and one have to enter the number once and not have to manually redial? Are there any other countries where these carrier codes cause a similar problem?
    Thanks

I would suggest what you mentioned as blackberry can support multiple numbers in one contact, so you would only have one contact for say John Smith... but a contact for in country and out of country. Aside from that, I dont believe there has been an app developed for this specific issue.
