Smart Forms: u0080(EUR)-symbol in text - #-symbol in Smart Forms

Hello,
If a user writes the (EUR)-symbol in a text (e.g. positions-text in an order, VA01) the Smart Form shows a #-symbol.
Does anyone know the reason for this behavior and how to correct it?

Hi,
I tryed it with <156> and it worked. The problem is that you have to write it directly with the line-editor, which is not very confortable for the users.
If you write it diretly in the text-field the <156> will be masked to
<(><<)>156>

you can use them in other form also
A variable in SAPscript is called a symbol. There are the following types.
System symbol (e.g. the number of the current page)
Standard symbol (usable in any document)
Program symbol (value from the print program)
Text symbol (local variable)
The value of a symbol is text for using within SAPscript code and is represented by the symbol-name enclosed by ampersands. On seeing the tell-tale ampersands in SAPscript code, you sometimes need to figure out the symbol type.

System symbols
System symbols in a SAPscript form are comparable to system fields like SY-UZEIT in an ABAP program, and include these. The graphical editor offers three types of system symbol.

2. SAPscript system symbols
See the dictionary structure SAPSCRIPT. SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES is the most widely used.
3. ABAP system symbols
For the ABAP system field SY-UNAME, say, the symbol is SYST-UNAME. [SYST is the dictionary structure for ABAP system fields.]

Standard symbols
Standard symbols are maintained centrally (in the table TTDTG via transaction SE75) for use in any document. Menu path:

Some standard symbols are SAP-standard and others are custom. Curiously, table TTDTG is cross-client although SAPscript forms are not.
The value of a standard symbol has to be defined for each language used. This gives a way to make a single SAPscript form multi-lingual.
We can take advantage to an extent of the central maintenance, though there is no guarantee that the available standard symbols will used in every appropriate context.
Standard symbols complicate searching a SAPscript form, since text like Charity registration 211581 may be hiding in a standard symbol.
Text symbols
A text symbol is declared and assigned to within the SAPscript code, and so obviously applies only to the current document. The command DEFINE is used, requiring /: in the tag column, as in the following examples.
/: DEFINE &COMP_NAME& = University of Warwick
/: DEFINE &WS_RATE& = &TAX_SUMM_C&

Text symbol
Text symbols are symbols representing text elements. In fact, a text symbol can be defined for every text elements. The reading of the form is easier in the SAPscript editor. The name of the text symbol must not exceed 32 characters and its value 60 characters. The value assignement can be done in two ways:
- Using the following command: "/: DEFINE &SYMBOL&='TEST_SYMBOLE'"
- Using a standard text symbol.
The text symbol value is temporary stored. When the print program finishes the execution, the text symbol does not exist anymore. The text symbol must have a value when it is declared.

Standard text are good, if you are using them in more than one SAPScript, because you have to maintain them only once, and not in every SAPScript.
It is really good to write rarely changing texts into the SO10 standard texts (for example company name, and address).
standard text is not always used in scripts. when ever u want to display some data u need to use standard text so that the data gets displayed. Say, u have a large piece of document which needs to be printed at end of script... rather than writing the whole thing in script, we create standard text using SO10 and then use the name along with standard text in script.

Table containing Program Texts(Text Symbols, SelectionTexts, List Heading)

I would like to know which is the standard SAP std. table which stores the data regarding Text Symbols, SelectionTexts, and List Heading of every program we create. There should definitly be a table where it is stored (otherwise we will not be able to retrieve it each time).
I have found out a structure RS38M which has all the required fields. But since it is a structure, it doesnt contain data.
So please inform if any body knows any standard SAP table which stores Program Texts. A quick, correct reply would be highly appreciated.

All these texts are stored in text pool not in any std. table.
To retrieve these info u have to use statement like:
READ TEXTPOOL <prog_name> INTO itab LANGUAGE <language> [STATE state].
This statement reads the text elements of the text pool of the language specified in lang and the program specified in prog from the Repository and places them into the internal table itab. The previous content of itab is deleted. If the text elements cannot be read, then the content of itab remains unchanged.
For prog, you must specify a flat character-like data object, which contains the name of the program of the text elements to be read; the name is case-independent. The internal table can have any table type and its row type must correspond to structure TEXTPOOL from the ABAP Dictionary.
For lang, you must specify a flat character-like data object, which contains a language key of up to one character, whose value must be contained in the SPRAS column of database table T002. If lang contains a blank, the behavior is undefined.
After a successful read, itab contains in the ENTRY column the texts of the text symbols, the selection texts, the list headers and the title from the program attributes. Every text element that exists for the specified language occupies one row of the internal table and is identified uniquely by the columns ID and KEY. The column LENGTH contains the length of the text element. The table below shows the possible values of the columns ID and KEY and their meaning:

Issue passing values to text symbols in Dynamic text PDF forms

Hello Everyone,
I am facing a problem related to Dynamic texts in Adobe PDF forms (Text node of type include text). I am able to pass the dynamic values to the Text node properties but i am not able to pass the values to Text symbols inside the Text node. When tested it says the field not found. I have the same structure and field in the CONTEXT as that of the text symbol. The problem i see is because in PDF the field names have $record.(fieldname) ?
Please share your thoughts if anyone has faced similar problem or know how to handle it.

Open the report up in the Designer and Click on Edit, Subreport Links. Likely what you can do is use Shared Variables to pass values from the main report to the subreport.
You need to do this in the report first. If you are using RAS then you can at runtime. If RAS is not available to you then no way in code.

Output Types Replacement of text symbols: program, FORM routine needed

Example: Hochland Rahmenvertrag &EKKO-EBELN& / &EKKO-LIFNR&
Replaced with: Hochland Rahmenvertrag 4600012345 / 712888
I have problems filling the eMail subject when creating a Outline agreement (Apllication EV)...
For purchase orders it's working without FORM routine (Apll. EF) !!!
SAP provides this (empty) fields in transaction NACE (or NACT).

In order to analyse parameters in titles of e-mails or faxes, you have to store a special program and a form routine in the field FORM routine. System fields like SY-UNAME or SY-DATUM are are excluded from this: They will be automatically analysed by the system.
Example
On New Year's Day 2000, you send the purchase order 4711 by fax. The title of the corresponding output type is "Purchase order no. VBAK-VBELN on SY-DATUM" (put a "&" before and after the fields). In the outbound message you therefore have the output "Purchase order no. 4711 on 01/01/2000". The field VBAK-VBELN has been filled with global data by a form routine.

Assigning a Value to a Text Symbol: DEFINE

Hi all,
I am printing some text in the form. The text is in the database table and is retrieved. say the field name is fld06 in the table ztfin. Previously it is code as &zfin-fld06& in the form edotir. Now my requiremnet is to dispay some other text where ever I have to print ztfin-fld06. I have used the define statement in this way :
/: DEFINE &ztfin-fld06& = 'Data Fattura'
But when I look at the output the text is not replaced nor it is realised while I am debugging. Can anyone tellme where I am going wrong ?

Text symbols receive their value through an explicit assignment. This assignment can be made interactively in the editor via the menu options Include Symbols Text. This lists all the text symbols of a text module, as well as those of the allocated layout set.
The contents defined in this way are lost if the transaction is exited. To continue printing the text module, you would have to enter the symbol values again.The DEFINE command allows you to anchor this value assignment firmly in the text, to also have it available when you next call up the text. Furthermore, you can allocate another value to a text symbol in
the course of the text.

The assigned value may have a maximum of 60 characters. It can also contain further symbols. If the operator := is used in the DEFINE statement, all symbols which occur in the value which is to be assigned are immediately replaced by their current values. The resulting character string is only then assigned to the target symbol when all occurring symbols have been replaced. The length of the value is limited to 80 characters. The target symbol must be a text symbol, as at present.

Dynamic text in text symbols.

Is there any way by which I can assign dynamic texts at runtime in a text symbol? Eg., say I have the following text to display :-
Error in calling the form name XYZ.
where the value XYZ is to be fetched from the program at runtime.

How to copy Report(including text symbols and Selection text) in Local file

Hi,
I have developed a Report in my testing system (Company dummy system) which contains lot selection text and Text symbols.
Is there any program that will copy that prohram along with all selection text and text symbold and save it on the floder and form the same program or different program i can upload program??
for example SAP has standard program RSTXSCRP from which i can export and import SAP Script to and from local file or system.
Please let me know at the earliest.

For scripts only that option is avaible in SAP.
For reports u can copy that report to another name otherwise release the request no and transport to one system to another system.
Final option is u have to save to one local file (green color icon) after that in which system, u want to upload the report means u have to create new report and upload it including selection-text itself.

Text symbols in BOR

Hello,
I am using the FM 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1' for sending mails in workflow.
For this purpose I have created a method in the BOR and its being called instead of a Standard Send MAil step.
The reason for using this FM instead of the Standard Send mail step is that , I need to send a hyperlink which is around 250 chars long.This cannot be achieved through the standard mail step.
I am passing the hyperlink and the mail content in literals to the variables which forms the body of the email.
My question is that instead of using literals (which give me errors in the Code inspector check), is there a facility like Text symbols in the BOR. Or any other way I can replace those literals.

Hi. I agree with Karri Kemp.
I prefer to use FM to send mail or any other type of codifications.
OR, if you prefer, why don't you store the LINK in another table and simply get it by a selection into a local variable ? I think it's a good way to maintain links. Because in future if this link change its address, you don't need the ABAP. You can store this link in a table accessed by SM30 and asks to key user or functional to maintain it. You can create a transaction to call this table like parameter transaction type.
Some times it's a good practice maintaining some values inside a table which a key user can maintain the values and don't need ABAP when it has any change. BUT it can help you with this case of LINK having more than 70 characters.

ABAP Text Symbol Problem

Hi experts,
I'm using function module 'FI_TEXT_ZTERM' to retrieve description texts of terms of payment. However, this function module is using text symbols to generate these texts. So if I log on in English, I could not get Chinese texts if I want.
Does anybody know some good solutions? Thanks.

Try the "FI_PRINT_ZTERM" and pass it the language - you'll see at the top of that function that it does a "set language i_langu" and that seems to allow it to return the correct element from the textpool. Example code below also includes a "how to" on getting the textpool values (should you want them).

Not able to print the text symbol value

Hi All,
I am using BTE 1040 for email dunning. In this BTE, I have called my custom FM in which I have written a code such that an editor comes up with the predifined message which we can edit it after dispaying.
For example, my text is as below.
test1
test2
test3
&gv_sender_name&
test4.
Now in the above predefined message I have a text symbol &gv_sender_name& which holds the value. I have filled the baove text symbol with value.
But the when editor comes up with that above message, the same text is printed. The value in the text symbol is not printed. I have defined the variable gv_sender name in my custom fm and also in BTE. But still it didnot work.
I should the get the text as test1
                                           test2
                                            test3
                                            xyz
                                           test4
The above predefined text is created in Text module.
Can anyone help me out how to print the value of text symbol.?

I am filling the above text symbol &lv_user_name& with some logic. Let me say that variable has value XYZ.
Now when I use that text module in the form layout. I should get the output as below.
Correct Output : test1

                          XYZ
                          test4.
But instead of above output, I am getting the below output which is wrong, because the value which is there in that variable should appear in the output.
                         test1

                        &lv_user_name&
                          test4
How to print that value in the output ?

I need the program name and form to assign to my output type to be able to replace the text symbols in the condition record. For orders, the routine is text_symbol_replace in SAPMV45A but I can't find the correct program and form for shipment output.

If I want to search the string in ABAP code , I know I can use program RPR_ABAP_SOURCE_SCAN.
But I want to find all SAP programs in which the text-symbols is defined by a particular string. How can I do that ?

Text symbol formatting

Hi All,
How can I define format(para) for a particular system symbol. This I later include in my form using Include statement. Text object is text and ID is adrs.

Is your question about how to format a standard text (in transaction SO10)?
In the standard text can you reference a style with a commad
/: STYLE ZZZZ, and then can you use the paragrapgs and so from tha style.
The style is managed with transaction SE72.
