Smart Guitar as a controller

Guys, I wanna use my smart guitar on my iPad as a controller to my Logic Pro over wi fi/ bluetooth. Is that possible? Thanks.

Yes, I do. The Godin will play Logics synths well, but it is not much use as a MIDI controller. Not entirely the fault of the guitar or the GI-20, but the way Logic works.
You will almost definitely find a small MIDI controller such as the Evolution UE-33 useful. Lots of faders, knobs & buttons.
If you want to use the Godin as a guitar, you will need an audio interface as well. Any decent Firewire will do. I use an Edirol, but many people here prefer the Apogee Duet.

  • How do you add 7 chords to smart guitar chord patterns

Trying to create a song with G7 chords.  How do you add the V7 chord in the chord patterns on the smart guitar in GB iPad?

When you are in the smart guitar screen, tap on the wrench icon (top right). Choose "Edit Chords". Tap the chord on the guitar you want to edit and swipe the chord "wheels" to choose the tonality, etc.

  • Cange chord strips for smart guitar

Hi, I am looking to change the selection of chords in the smart guitar, but idot know how. I would like to add an A Minor. Can anyone help me configure the chord strips?
    Thanks,

Thanks guys, I reported it to apple.
It's even more unpredictable though. It seems to me that on a key change the auto strum buttons play the correct chord (not being a musican I am not sure if this is even true, and now I certainly don't trust what it says).
It seems to me that it's the strings that don't get updated properly. Some do, some don't, some do after playing a different chord or playing the chord with the chord button.
Example, between the key of C major and C minor as. before you have a G and a Gm chord.
Play the chord and strum it in C major and it should sound the same.
Change to C minor and without playing any other note or chord, strum Gm... it's still playing G, wrong.
Now strum any other chord and then strum Gm again.,.Now it has suddenly corrected and does play Gm.
As a quick test I changed key to D (major or minor I can't remember) and practically every single strummed chord is wrong.
All I can say is Apples test procedures are woefully inadequate. This is an embarrassment.

  • Smart Guitar help...

Wondering if it's possible to get different guitar pedals/FX for Smart Guitar in GB app for iPad
The only reason I ask is because I saw a couple youtube videos where people were playing familiar tunes and riffs on SG (AC/DC, GnR...) and they sounded almost spot-on to the actual guitar sounds that are naturally in the riffs.
Naturally, they may have had the iPad output going through an external unit for the modulation, but nonetheless it would seem possible to add "in-app" purchases for such pedals and I'm wondering if this exists.

This is the limitation in GarageBand for iPad. You can use (import) different effects, regardelss if there are stompboxes, amps or synth. You only can work with the parameters of the provded effects and sounds.
If you think about how difficult it is just to get audio files and Apple Loops into the iPad, imagine dealing with external plugins. May in the future with  iOS12.
    Hope that helps

  • What are the notes of the Smart Guitar?

When I open iOS GarageBand's Smart Guitar on Key C-Major, what are the notes I'm seeing? For instance, what are the notes when I tap the C chord string from 1 (bottom) to 6 (up)?
My actual goal is to record all string tap sounds, cut them into respective pieces in Audacity, then save them as e.g. "C.wav", for further use in another context. I like how GarageBand lays out the chords so my small (noncommercial) program aims to copy this, albeit I'm not a professional musician (as you can see from my question, I'm sure!).
    Thanks!

  • Playback of a Smart guitar recording track skips some notes.

I recorded a track using the Smart guitar in Garageband on my iPad2 and recorded a track of 130 bars. The recording was smooth and I could hear all chords and strings play well. However, when i play my recording, it skips several notes in between and I only hear broken audio. When I slide the track bar behind on the piece of track which skipped the notes, and play again, the recorded notes sound correct. Am I doing something wrong or is this an issue?

I have GarageBand on my iPad 2 and there are no latency problems with Smart Guitar during recording. I've encountered the problem only on the iPhone 4s. If I'm not mistaken, the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s have identical RAM amounts and identical processors, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Perhaps the software is not adequately optimized for the iPhone. I hope the GarageBand engineers are monitoring these forums....

  • Dynamic Smart Array B220i RAID Controller keeps loosing Logical Drive after power shutdown.

Hi, I own two HP Microservers Gen8. I added SSD drive on the DVD SATA port in both. I created Raid 0 over the SSD Drive that I can boot from it, but everytime I shutdown the box (power outage), the logical drive is lost. Note that the logical drive is not lost on reboot. Only when the box is is shutdown. Any ideas why is this happening? Here are repro steps: Enter Smart Storage Administrator
Select onDynamic Smart Array B220i RAID CtrollerClick on "Unassigned Drive" Screen shows me:SATA HDD:
    - 3TB Port1:Bay1
    - 3TB Port2:Bay2 SATA SSD
    - 120GB Port5:Bay5 I selected Sata SSD drive in Port5:Bay5I clicked on "Create Array"
On a next screen I select the following:
I selected RAID 0, 256 KiB Stripe Size, 32 Sectors, Maximum Size
I click on "Create Logical Drive" On a next screen:
A message: Logical Drive was successfully created.
    I click on Finish
I exit the Smart Storage Manager and reboot the system. The server boots from the Raid0 Array (Sata SSD Drive in Port5:Bay5) -> No problem If I just reboot the server, it boots from the Raid0 Array. - No problemIf I shut down the server (or during Power outage), the Smart Array tells me that there is no logical array during the boot. The boot fails. -> Qualifies for a problem.
Please can you explain why is the logical drive lost after power loss? Why the controller does not remember the setting? Other details:- Dynamic Smart Array B220i RAID Controller (v3.54.0)- When I boot to Smart Storage Administrator after power failure, I can recreate the Raid 0 over the SSD drive and boot again - this a work around the issue. Thank you for your advise.Jiri

  • Smart guitar chord bug with key change??

I think there is a bug in the smart guitar chord selection when changing the song key.
    Could someone try this...
Song key set to C major.
Select smart guitar and strum the strings of the Em chord. Now hit the Em chord button to auto strum... sounds the same. So far so good.
Now change song key to C minor.
Do the same for the now Eb chord.. when strumming the strings it still sounds an Em. But notice hitting the chord button plays Eb.
Does anyone else hear this? (it's not only that chord that is wrong)

Why only 9 frets available on GarageBand smart guitar?

Because that's all they put in.
Seriously, we're all just users here like yourself - no-one here knows the reasons why Apple chooses to do anything.

  • Is it possible to drop d tune the smart guitar?

Anyone know? Or have any tips around it?! Thanks

I don't don't think it is possible. You might be able to get access to the notes you want to play by editing custom chords, but I'm no musician so it is all Greek to me.

  • How do you use the smart guitar without the notes sounding odd

i cant play any real notes that sound good on this app for itouch can someone give me some pointers

Sorry if I'm not being clear. Here's a simple example: I'd like to fit the square with the black circle on the top side of the cube:
With transform tool, I'm limited by the bounding box and cannot drag the corners of the square to the cube's top corners:
With envelope distort, when I drag a corner point the edges become warped:
This can easily be done in Photoshop. I can drag the corners to distort the square:
How can this easily be done in Illustrator CC 2014?

  • Customize Chord Choice/List on Smart Guitar

    Hi,
I'm a newbie on garageband and like to find out if there's a way of customizing "realtime" or "pre-determined" the Chord choices:
For instance, under the key C major, the only choices available from the list are as follows:
Em  Am  Dm  G  C F Bb Bdim
In some songs that I want to play, I want to turn the chor Em  to E - Can I do that on the fly or at least reprogram the chord list?
    thanks.

There don't seem to be any options to reprogram the chord lists. Drop a line to GarageBand for iPad feedback and suggest an enhancement...

  • Smart Array P800 Controller Accelerator issue

    Hello there.
We are running a DL180 G6 with a Smart Array P800 disc controller and 8 harddrives in RAID 5.
When logging into the server using HP System Management Homepage it states that the 'Accelerator' is disabled, and this accelerator have brought us lots of grief.
This particular disc controller are using two batteries to power a disk cache, and initially we interpreted this issue as coming from faulty batteries and replaced the first one, and then both.
This did not address the error message.
As that did not address it we have since then done the following:
    Verified configuration
    Cleared IML
    Upgraded BIOS
    Upgraded iLO
    Upgraded HP server firmware+drivers
    Upgraded centos
Restarting the server and booting to it using ACU:

  • Clicks and pops when running Mainstage 2 with Guitar Rig 5 in Mavericks.

**I've read that this may be unsolvable but I hope someone can help me**
    Hello everyone,
I very recently upgraded to the new Macbook Pro 15" Retina as my 2010 Macbook running Snow Leopard is on it's way to Apple heaven. This means I am now on Mavericks and **** is ******, it's my fault for not upgrading sooner so I am to blame in some respects. Here is my issue.
My set up is fairly basic:
Mainstage 2.2.2 (I can't upgrade to 3 as the synths we use are not 64bit compatible.. another nightmare due to my lack of upgrading in the past)
Axiom 64 MIDI controller via USB
Guitar Rig 5 controller via USB (audio interface)
In Mainstage we have the L output for virtual instrument parts and the R output for guitar parts. These are globally panned L and R.
The L output from Mainstage goes through the Guitar rig footcontroller out the L output through a DI and then to the mixing desk. The R output goes through the Guitar rig controller out the R output and straight to the guitar amp. Simple way to do both keys and guitar.
We never had any problems with this in Snow Leopard. With Mavericks this setup is unusable due to the clicks and pops shooting through the guitar amp. It doesn't matter whether the voume on the guitar itself is turned up or down it's still all "click POP.. CLICK pop pop click" Mainstage just seems to be sending these pops regardless if anything is being played or not.
When I ran the same session through my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 there was no popping on the virtual instruments so I'm thinking it could be a guitar rig issue.
Can anyone help me with this? I'm sure a lot of people are finding the same thing... **** I know a lot of people are getting the pops without guitar rig involved. For now I'm going to continue to use my old Macbook but I'd LOVE to have the new one running smoothly!
    Thanks a lot!
