Smart lists don't suffle anymore
My son has iTunes 9.0.2 running on his iMac running Tiger. He tells me that today he noticed that his smart playlists no longer shuffle. Other playlists seem to work, but all his smart playlists don't. He can't install iTunes 10 because you need Leopard for that. Any suggestions (other than upgrade)?

Actually the play order will still be shuffled, although the display will stay sorted by the column you have told it to sort by.

Podcast smart list doesn't work anymore
For some reason with the recent updates of itunes, the podcasts aren't flowing into the podcast my podcast smart list. In order to get them to go in, I have to keep re-labeling the genre field in the itunes podcast folder.
They also stopped auto deleting too....ugh what a pain
Any clue?I've since learned that I can use Ctrl+' and Ctrl+Shift+' (Mac) for the cheapo feet and inches marks. Thanks for the info about prime marks though, I didn't know about them – that they are the "real" feet and inches marks. I also didn't know that Smart Quotes would convert quotes during copy and paste.
I must say that I couldn't find prime marks in the Glyphs palette (which would really benefit from a search tool), at least not for the Myriad Pro font. Still, I will keep it in mind for any "important" applications of the feet and inches marks in future. Most of the time I just want them quickly for unimportant uses, at which time I'll just use Ctrl+'. I guess I'm obsessive enough to avoid quotation marks when I mean feet and inches, but not obsessive enough to dig through the Glyphs palette.
By the way, I scanned through Snow Leopard's keyboard shortcuts preferences and couldn't find a conflicting Cmd+Opt+Shift+' command. It doesn't matter to me anymore though. -
Contacts smart list don't work
Creating smart list doesn't to appear to work properly if at all.
Using Notes containing "XZY" doesn't pull all the contacts/companies that contain XZY...creating only a partial list.
Please advise.
ChristianApparently smart list names work, but they do not show the expanded list of names to the sender. However, the recipeints do see the expanded list of names. If you Control+Click on the Smart list name in Contacts and select send email from the context menu, the sender does see the expanded list of names. This looks like an "oops" to me. I suggest you report it to Apple here.

Smart List issue ; Classic Hyperion Planning v11.1.2.1
All,
I am currently working on classic planning v11.1.2.1 (don't ask why).
We have created a couple of smart lists, which we're using with a level 0 member.
THe smart lists do not appear on the cells in the forms.
I encountered similar issues with another planning applications metadata managed using EPMA.
I tweaked the evaluation order of the dimensions, and refreshed the app, after which the Smart list started working.
But when I did the same with this cube, it does not work, there are 3 planning cubes and I changed the evaluation order on one of the cubes to which the form is connecting to.
The properties of the member are as below:
Data Storage : Never Share
Plan Type : Capital (+)
Data Type : SmartList
We are not using any of the pre-built Planning modules.
Can anyone tell me what the issue may be?

This problem is linked to you not having a consistent setting for your date input type.
So, go to application administration and set the date format to MM/DD/YYYY in application settings and display options, under current application defaults. Then after you have done this as a user go to User Preferences and display options and on the date format select the same. Or remove the Automatically detect.
I have seen this behaviour if you have Automatically Detect on the user preferences

Is there a way to automatically create a smart list for all artists without doing it manually?
Do you mean automatically create a separate playlist for each artist in your library. I don't think so.
This is surely better dealt with by sorting on the appropriate column in the library and using the browse window. (ctrl B if you don't see it).
Robert Jacobson has a script to create a playlist for each album (itunesalbumplaylists), that could presumably be modified to do it by artist if you are into programming.

ARD 3.6.1 running on 10.8.1 - Beach balls with smart list or other user created lists
ARD 3.6.1 will always beach ball until I force quit if I have a smart group or list created. It will launch fine if there hasn't been any type of List, Group, Scanner, or Smart List set. If I create one, it works fine until I relaunch the app. With no lists, I can relaunch fine. With a list, next relaunch beach balls. I can remedy the issue by trashing the user pref for ARD. But once I recreate a list...beach ball on relaunch.

I have to convert mine to XML and edit them in BBedit regularly (I don't want to just trash them or I lose all my saved machines.) It's widely accepted that ARD has been basically abandoned by Apple (updated to keep running, but no bug fixes or new features) so we're going to have to live with this. Keep backups of your prefs!

Problems with Smart List in Forms.
Hi,
I set Smart List in my Account Dimension.
In HP Documentation (9.2 and 9.3.1) I read that is posible to allow or not allow a user using Smart List for a specific member of account through a form option.
I already used this option in HP 9.2, but in 9.3.1 it do not exist this option in dataform, even so in 9.3.1 documentation says that it's posible.
I wanna Know if someone have used this option in 9.3.1.
I have been thinking in re install Planning or duplicate member that I need use sometimes with Smart List and sometimes writing a number.
Any idea???

Old keynotes don't open anymore.... !!! HELP
Since I downloaded keynote 6.0 my old keynotes don't open anymore....
Can anybody give me a clue how I make them up and running again?

this routine usually sorts most problems with Keynote 5, complete all the steps in the correct order:
1 - Remove keynote, (use Appcleaner from Mac Update to do this, it is freeware)
2 - shut down the Mac
3 - Start up in safe mode by pressing the shift key immediately after the start chime and until the Apple symbol appears) it will take longer to start up as the OS is being repaired
3 - When the Mac is fully booted, go to: Applications > Utilities > Disk utility
click the System hard drive in the list then first aid tab > Repair Disc
4 - Reboot normally
5 - re-install iWork and install updates for Keynote from: Apple Menu > Software update -
we've downloaded & kept eighteen apps - the last today ... now I find some of the earlier ones, which used to work fine, don't play anymore - ie: tap them, the screen goes blank (dark or mostly white) for a second or two, then it's the home screen again ... we paid good money for some of them, too ... grrh !
Examples of the ones that don't play now are two expensive Ultralingua dictionaries (English & German-English) & Digital Clock ...
anyone know a cure, please - I daren't update the wife's iPhone if this is going to happen to hers, too ! ?
edit by CJHthanks, I'll give it ago ... deleting them is easy, tapping the x of each app on the iPhone home screen, reinstalling them is less obvious - by disconnecting & reconnecting / sync'ing again, I've managed to re-install one app, but not the rest, yet ... I'll keep trying, various things !
PS: OK - I worked out how to do it (tap the crosses on the iPhone home screens to delete, then tick the appropriate boxes in the iTunes / iPhone / Applications listing to re-install) - not all that obvious / intuitive, until one's done it !

One day at Blockbuster store I started to make a list on Notes app on my iPhone with movies that I want to add to my BB online queue when I get home (for DVD mail in delivery, just like Netflix used to be). All good so far. Few days later the list it's not in Notes anymore and when I checked my BB account the movies that were on the list I made in Notes are now in my BB queue. How was the list moved, the accounts are not linked, don't even think it's possible to link Notes with BB anyway. -

Apparently smart list names work, but they do not show the expanded list of names to the sender. However, the recipeints do see the expanded list of names. If you Control+Click on the Smart list name in Contacts and select send email from the context menu, the sender does see the expanded list of names. This looks like an "oops" to me. I suggest you report it to Apple here.

Anyone know what preference file contains the Groups, Smart Lists and Scanners?
I have a rather extensive collection of these I'd never want to loose.

Yes it should be. Why don't you remove the file, start up ARD and see? -
I'm trying to create a dropdwon list in one of my salary forms. Im passing everything form Curr Prod to Dev. In Prod I was able to check the "enable SmartList" option, when designing the forms,I dont have that option anymore.
I created the smartlist, and changed the member properties in planning but no luck. any ideas?

When you have created Smart Lists they are put against the dimension member in the Dimension Administration, are you saying you can't apply the smart list to the dimension member ?
