Smart Search for DVR Recording

Is there a way that I can search on a key word(s) and have something auto record when it picks up the saved keyword(s)? When I had DirecTV I used to be able to type in a keyword such as James Dean.  Whenever a James Dean movie came on, or anything with his name in it was going to play, it would 'automatically' record based on the key word. I don't see where/how I can do this with FioS cable.   Anyone able to help?    Thanks!!

I'd like an answer to this too.  I just switch from DirecTV to FiOS.  Are you able to auto record a key word search?  DirecTV did this by recording all hits in a Smart Search.  You could also filter it as just movies or just sports.

  • Unable to search for first record using the Preview tree

    Post Author: TheBig1980s
    CA Forum: General
    Hello:
    Users are unable to search for the first record in the Preview tab's tree.  The reason for this is because the first record is within the first page header of the report.  My guess is that, by design, Crystal takes the end user to whatever the first instance of the record iseven if that first record is in a page header.  That's not "good".  I want the user to be taken to the first record within the details of the reportnot within the page header.
    I have suppressed the page header to not print on the first record by using OnFirstRecord.  But, I still get the same issue where end users cannot select the first record in the tree without being taken to the page header.  Very strange.
    Can anybody think of any other ideas?
    Thanks!

    Thank you Dave Merchant and try67 for your responses. As per my previous post, I contacted the company re the catalogue and they have responded favourably. I'll include their response because it gives the reason for the search failure as document compression which you might find interesting. I'll await their new catalogue and see if they have fixed the problem.
    Company response:
    Thank you very much for your input.  And yes, you are correct, the compression we used for the current catalogue's PDF format does strip out text included in the catalogue.  We used the compression settings we did with the intention of minimising download time, however I take your point about including text for search purposes (which I also utilise when I'm scanning through PDFs).
    We will actually be posting out our new catalogue next week and we'll release the new PDF version on the website at the same time.  I've asked our graphic designer to ensure that the PDF we use for the new catalogue includes searchable text.

  • How to search for value records for a specific period of time?

    Hi,
    I am building an application where I need to use BDB to store tons of call records.
    In the call records, I have the following fields:
    1. from-caller
    2. to-caller
    3. begin-time
    4. end-time
    5. account-code
    6. user-code
    I want to use end-time's microsecond representation to serve as the Key.
    So, how can I do the following data lookup?
    1. Search for all Value records between 2009-10-11 to now()
    2. Search for all Value records between 2009-10-11 to now() with account-code = 100
    3. Search for all Value records between 2009-10-11 to now() with account-code = 100 and user-code=10
    Is there any similar examples out there that I can refer to?
    Thanks,
    JB

    Hi,
    Btw, my operation is mostly:
    1. Append call records
    2. Search call records
    3. Remove ending records that are older than XX days
    Please kindly advise on how I should best structure the data to meet this purpose.
    Thanks,
    JB

  • Searching for the Recording Security Manager utility

  • Distinguishing First Run and Rerun for DVR Recording

    If you want to record a series, not just a single show, the only choice you have is to record BOTH First-Run episodes AND Reruns.  I note that Direct TV users and TiVo users have a choice when recording a series by selecting First Run Only or First Run and Repeats.  Without this discriminate, shows that repeat habitually throughout the day and week are recorded.  This is a major inconvenience if your recording are almost exclusively series TV shows.  It becomes very inconvenient for series broadcast on HBO, where throught the week multiple series and reruns--for example Boardwalk Empire--are all playing in a single week.  The lack of this feature--that other services already have--is a major shortcoming.

    Something odd there.  Which DVR model?
    Should be press DVR button scrool to manage series recordings, press right, scroll to show, press ok,  (options including change priority, modify series and cancel series.  Modify Series. press ok.  Options on that include episodes (first run only/first run and repeats). Scroll to episodes, press enter, change as desired, press ok, push right to save, press ok. close menus, may have to do repeated exits.
    You may also want to find the dvr settings to set your default options for creating series recordings.  menu/settings/system/dvr/default series options

  • Search for a record from Access Database, and populate records in Drop Down List, and View It

    Hi,
    I created a PDF form where I have open, next, previous buttons, and I'm able to connect to the access database, and it's working fine. Now, I want to be able to search by last name from the access database, and retrieve the results in a dropdown field, and then once i select the records in the drop downlist, i want to press a button to display the record. I have multiple records with the same last name. Please help, I searched the internet for hours, and can't find something similar. Your help is appreciated, and sample code is appreciated.

    <%
    int count = 0;
    while (rs1.next()){ %>
    <%if (count ==0)
    {%>
    <option value="<%=inputorthodon%>" selected >
    <%=rs1.getString("ortho_name")%></option>
    <%}
    else{%>
    <option value="<%=inputorthodon%>">
    <%=rs1.getString("ortho_name")%></option>
    <%}
    ++count;} %>
    </select>
    U may have to format this a bit. The idea is to use a count variable to put "selected" in only the first OPTION. After that, we don't have to.
    Hope this helps.

  • Searching for a record using wildcard or specific

    I have a sql query region. It pulls in all possible fishermen in a given state. The report lists name, license type, license nbr.
    I have been using the following code which allows the users to enter a value in the P10_SEARCH_FIELD and return all rows where either the name, license type and/or license nbr contain all or part of P10_SEARCH_FIELD. This worked perfectly.
    I have now received a request from users to pull back only the record where the license_nbr is the exact of P10_SEARCH_FIELD.
    For example, there are over 100 records where the license number has '863' in it, however only one record where the license is exactly '863'. That is the only one that want to see returned. Yet, if they enter 'FISH' in the search field, they still wish to see all records where FISH is in name and/or license type.
    Is this possible?
    My code currently is:
    SELECT distinct
    "PERMITS"."LICENSE_NBR" "LICENSE_NBR",
    "PERMITS"."LICENSE_TYPE" "LICENSE_TYPE",
    "PERMITS"."PERMIT_ID" "PERMIT_ID",
    "PERMITS"."DEALER_FISH" "DEALER_FISH",
    "PARTICIPANTS"."CORPORATE_NAME" "CORPORATE_NAME",
    "PARTICIPANTS"."LAST_NAME" "last_name",
    "PARTICIPANTS"."FIRST_NAME" "First_name" ,
    "PARTICIPANTS"."PARTICIPANT_ID" "PARTICIPANT_ID",
    decode(permits.iss_agency,'0016','FED',null) Fed
    FROM
    "PERMITS", "PARTICIPANTS"
    where iss_agency = :F200_ISSUING_AGENCY and
    dealer_fish = 'CF' and "PERMITS"."STATUS" = 'ACTIVE' and
    "PERMITS"."PARTICIPANT_ID" = "PARTICIPANTS"."PARTICIPANT_ID"
    and
    instr(upper("PERMIT_ID"),upper(nvl(:P10_SEARCH_FIELD,"PERMIT_ID"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("LAST_NAME"),upper(nvl(:P10_SEARCH_FIELD,"LAST_NAME"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("FIRST_NAME"),upper(nvl(:P10_SEARCH_FIELD,"FIRST_NAME"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("LICENSE_NBR"),upper(nvl(:P10_SEARCH_FIELD,"LICENSE_NBR"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("LICENSE_TYPE"),upper(nvl(:P10_SEARCH_FIELD,"LICENSE_TYPE"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("CORPORATE_NAME"),upper(nvl(:P10_SEARCH_FIELD,"CORPORATE_NAME"))) > 0
    order by participants.last_name, participants.first_name, participants.participant_id
    }

    Hi Karen,
    You can try just changing:
    instr(upper("LICENSE_NBR"),upper(nvl(:P10_SEARCH_FIELD,"LICENSE_NBR"))) > 0 orto
    "LICENSE_NBR" = :P10_SEARCH_FIELD orSo, this one is a direct match but all the others remain as wildcards

  • Searching for Duplicates records in Qualified Lookup tables

    Hi SDNers,
    I would like to know,
    How to find out how many records having duplicate records in Qualified Look Tables.
    In Free form search or Drill down Serach.. I am select the particular Qualified Look up Table. After how can I find Duplicated reocrds.
    Any Solution?
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi,
    If you want to find the duplicates present in qualified table then, you can go to qualified table in data manager and get to know the duplicates....else if you want to find the duplicate links to a record in main table, then you can write an expression in free form search to get the value of duplicate links. but that would be specific to a link value only..e.g. Country is your no qualifier, then in free form search, you can write an expression to get how many links are for USA.
    Hope this clarifies your doubt...if not, please elaborate on the requirement.
    Regards,
    Arafat.

  • How to search for a record before insert or update a table?

    I need use user input collected to check to see if there is a record already existing, if yes, update the record, if not insert a new record.
    I try to use the select command first to figure out if there is a record matching already:
    String User;
    String sql="select from OFA_WEB_REPORT where username=?"
    PreparedStatement pstmt=conn.prepareStatement(sql);
    pstmt.setString(1,User);
    I did not see a method in ResultSet could help me to determine if the resultset is null or not?
    Is there any better way to check to see if there is a matching record existing already?
    Thank you in advance

    ReSultSet rs=pstmt.execute();
    if(rs.next())
    System.out.println("there is a record existing");
    else
    System.out.println("there is not a record existing");
    another,pstmt.execute() return's Value never null.

  • Search for data within a database table

    Hi everyone :)
    I'm trying to make it so that the user can search for a record by id #. So, i made an input dialogue thing so the user can enter a record #. Basically, i want the data to appear in their textboxes based on the record # inputted by the user. My attempt is shown below, and when I run it, I get this:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Data type mismatch in criteria expression.
    Here's my code:
    public JButton getSearch()
              if (search==null)

                   search.addActionListener

    "WHERE studId = '" + recNo + "' ";Why are you putting quote marks around a number? What type of database column is studId? Probably a numeric type (not character), right? Quotes go around string/character stuff, not numeric stuff.

  • Database-Searching for dates

    If I enter in an exact date (such as 7/9/06) in my database's Find layout that matches an existing record then AppleWorks finds the record. But I want to find all records that contain ANY date in the date field. If I type in a character in the date field that is bound to be present, such as 0 (zero), AppleWorks doesn't find anything. I have to enter an exact date. Is there a way to search for all records in which the date field is not empty?

    From the Organize menu, choose "Show All Records".
    Again from the Organize menu, choose "Match". In the dialog select the "All" dropdown and choose "Logical". Click on the "ISBLANK" entry, then from the left column click on the date field you're trying to search. Your search field should look like: ISBLANK('date')
    (... the parentheses will contain the actual name of the field you chose)
    Click "OK" and the matched records will have been selected.
    Again from the Organize menu, choose "Hide Unselected"

  • "Search for text" Zooms when number keys pressed. Expecting it to FIND text

    For months I have been using (&relying on) the "search for text when I start typing " feature.
    I am a school teacher & this helps me to search for students & record scores in an online grading program.
    The "search for text when I start typing feature" stopped working two days ago.
    Before, whenever I typed the "Find" box immediately opened up, searched the screen,
    and highlighted whatever I had just typed. Now, when I enter a "1", "2" , "6" , "9" or "0" (zero)
    the find box does not come up- so this disrupts all the grade recording process for me.
    Instead, when I type in 6 or 9 (it zooms in the screen instead), 0 (it zooms out instead) and I cannot tell what happens
    when I type in 1 or 2 (nothing appears to happen- but no "Find" box comes up.

    The keyboard shortcut for resetting the zoom level is Command+0, so seeing that kind of response implies that Firefox is misreading the state of the Command key, thinking it is stuck down. Usually tapping the key numerous times will send a signal to all programs that the key has been released (at least on Windows).
    On the other hand, in that case, Command+6 should jump to the sixth tab in the current window, it shouldn't change the zoom level. So... hmm...
    In case a component of the OS has malfunctioned, have you already tried shutting down the system completely and then starting it up again?

  • Smart Search via Catergory?

    Hi Guys,
    I was wondering if there is a way to set up a smart search, to search for a specific type of catergory. I have setup custom catergories, and would like to be able to save a smart search for each one.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cheers.

    Yes, it is possible! All you do is make sure that you CAN search for each category that you want (ie, make sure that the custom Category lookup is included in the Asset Filter group). So if you actually do the search for each option in the custom category, each time after you run the search just click the Save as Smart Search and give the search a name. It will save them to your Smart Searches pane on the left.
    NOTE: Smart Search's are exclusive to each user.
