Smart Series Link

I expressed some doubts regarding smart series link when it was announced as I quickly realised a flaw in that if when the following series comes back, it clashes with 2 other shows you record at the same time, it won't record the new series, not even at the next available time slot when repeated...... I'm now experiencing a completely new problem which I hadn't invisioned before, that's the fact that my planner doesn't appear to pick up the new series' due to the fact that they have the word 'new' in front of the title.... Is anyone else noticing this as it's becoming a pain in the bum having to download the missed episode in catch up and then find the following weeks episode to make sure that's on the planner to record.

Smart Series Link has never worked

I realise that this topic has been posted before but I hav yet to see an answer so thought I would try. I use Series Link for many series and it is working for weekly episodes in a series. However, the much trumpeted Smart Series Link does not appear to have ever worked as returning series that I had series linked before are not being picked up (and they are continuations on the same channel) I will ask an obvious question first in case I am missing something. Is there meant to be a different option to Series Link that I should be using as I cannot see one? Assuming that Series Link should just automatically do the Smart link,do i have to do soemthing strange like leave the last episode of a current (mid-)season recorded and make sure I do not delete this last episode to ensure Smart Series Link works? That would mean using up a lot of storage for months on end for episodes I have finished watching so I am hoping that is not the answer. For info, my current software must be up to date as the 1st page of the softwar details states "Series Link has been improved to record all the episodes from every new series of a TV show"

Sounds like most people have managed at least to get one new series recorded, even if sometimes it behaves strangely. However, I have had no successes. I am attempting to work out what possible reason there could be for no smart series links at all, paticularly as my software is up to date. So another thought... does it only work when you record a series that is tagged as "New...." rather than later showings of the same episode in the week that are not tagged as "New..."? I do this a lot as most series I want to record are at 9pm or 10pm for the "New..." showing and this means there are a lot of clashes. Recording episodes aired at, say, 2am, enusre I avoid such clashes. There has to be a logical answer (I work with computers so I know that there is always a logical explanation, even if at first sight, behaviours seem random). The annoying thing is before I changed to Sky, I had a TIVO system that did this perfectly. It automatically recorded new series with no issues whatsoever and it seems strange that Sky would have glitches in such a process.

Series link and Smart Series

Until Sky stop prefixing programmes with the moniker NEW:, series link and Smart Series will not work because the planner thinks they are another programme. E.g. last night UNDER THE DOME restarted, and was set in my Smart series. Unsurprisingly, it did not record as the programme was called NEW: UNDER THE DOME.,...... Not technical, you can keep on rebuilding your planners all day, but the solution is obvious, except to Sky, no surprise there......

The 'new' issue (which was fixed I think in R010) never stopped programs recordings, it just mixed up the stacks if you had episodes both with 'New' and without. This has been fixed in the majority of cases.
Your issue appears to be entirely different. Did the next episode (ie last night's Falling Skies) appear in the Scheduled Tab at all and fail to record or didn't it put it in after last week's episode?
is correct in that it is up to the channels themselves what constitutes a series. For example, it is the BBC who has decided that the new Top Gear specials being shown are not part of the aborted series, so Sky boxes won't have picked them up automatically.

How to read ZIP files(having PDFs,Image) using MQ Series link for R/3

1)Is it possible to transfer a zip file (having an image or pdf) using IDocs in SAP 4.6C using MQ Series link for R/?
Scenario: "MQ Series link for R/3" converts Business-Reports from a third-party software,into SAP IDocs.Each Business-Report contains one XML file and one ZIP file.
2)Being on ABAP side,do I have to worry about how the zip file would be converted into IDocs?

Series link and schedule clash.

first day yesterday with new youview box, while setting up recordings I noticed I had two programs on at the same time and I would be watching a third, so I set one of the programs to record on the +1 channel with series link, however it still tried to record the programme on at 9pm and the repeat at 10pm, I didn't get a warning so was oblivious of the clash and of course the programme that failed to record was not the one i set on +1, so I have two copies of one programme and missed the other, it seems daft that you can't avoid clashes by using the +1 channels, no matter how many times i deleted the recording on the "right time" channel the record icon re-appeared on the programme guide seconds later.

It is something that the broadcasters are failing to do, not you and not YouView - the dynamic EPG is meant to avoid all these issues but some broadcasters notably five channels are a disaster

Series link not working (new user)

Hi, i have just had sky installed today, my box has a 7 day guide, and we can barely any series links to work. Monkey world on different chnnels in different seriesjudge judy on differnt channels and different seriesFamily guyTanked The only thing that we think is working is eastenders.weve tried others but pretty much nothing works. Now some of the things avove are different series, and on varying channels. But for example judge judy, monkey world, family guy, tanked all have one episode and the next episode in the series imediately after and none are recording, and thise are the next numerical episode in the same series on the same Channel. Im hoping this is a problem due to the box just being installed, if not i will be calling sky and getting the lot taken back out, and my humax Freeview box managed series links perfectly and i aint paying them £30 per month Is this normal for a new install or is there a problem? I had sky about 6 years ago, and from memory i had no probs with series links then.

Just to add, i deleted the series links, deleted the deleted folder, did a planner rebuilt, still doesnt work.

Link srw2048 and linksys 8 port gigabit smart switch linking together

I would like to link my srw2048 in the my celler to the linksys 8port switch i have in the living room so my son can have lan parties. how would i configure this and will i need to make a crossover cable?

I don't see the need of configuring your SRW2048 switch for you to be able to connect your 8 port gigabit switch. Since these switches were both smart switch you can use either crossover or straight through cable for them to communicate with each other.

Install smart view link not working from workspace 11.1.2

Hi all,
I have a client who cannot install SmartView from the link in workspace (tool > install > smart view). A window briefly appears but then nothing happens. I had successfully installed smart view this way in 11.1.2. and it works in 11.1.2.1.
Any ideas?

If it is IE then you could try going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level >

Hyperion smart cut link of Financial report not opening as pdf in tasklist 11

Hi ,
I am using Smartcut Link to open FR from tasklist.
Reports are opening properly in HTML but didn't show any option for PDF.
While I am opening the same report from Explorer->Right click->Open as html. This will show option to save/open report as pdf.
I am working on 11.1.1.4.

Errors with series link/series record

Has anyone noticed this problem recently. So a new series starts in a few days time. I find it in my EPG and press record twice to set up a series record. But it will only record that ONE programme. it tells me it isn't a series, even though I know it is! So I have to remember to go back to the EPG a few days later, find the second programme and set up the series record from ep 2. I thought I was imagining this but it has happened on two different series lately. Very annoying!!

Yes, this happens sometimes. It's all down to the data supplied by Freeview to the EPG. Sometimes they get it wrong. So it's not a box problem, but an EPG problem. You should try series recording MOTD 1 & 2. Nightmare!

Series Link on recording records the repeat - How ...

I always find whenever a programme is repeated the next day or a few days later, it will record the repeat then the next episode. Some shows have more than one repeat so the Vision box will record all the repeats.
That never used to happen on Sky+. Is there any way of preventing the repeat from being recorded?
It has happened with shows I have recorded such as Pramface on BBC Three, Police Interceptors on Channel 5, That Sunday Night Show on ITV1 and Father Ted on More 4.
Please would somebody be able to tell me if there are changes you can make to your record setting so that only one episode of a programme is recorded without any repeats of the same episode from being recorded?

P.S. Is there any way of finding out how much spare disk space you have left on your Vision box like Sky+ that shows it as a percentage?

This is a known bug. It will be fixed. If you have a DTT strength meter then you don't have the new software. How long have you had your box?

As a user of Extract, I would like to have the ability to open/access assets and information contained within smart objects or linked layers. Is this possible?

Problem:
In Extract ( Extract for PSD ) a user is unable to access assets or information from smart objects or linked layers.
Usage:
Smart Objects/Linked Layers are useful for templated web workflows
@Sectioning content allows for a holistic view with access to granular information
Possible Solution(s):
Could we create a link between to cloud files.
Could a smart object or linked layer be expanded on upload
Could we create a drop menu like the layer comps that includes related files

Our current support in Extract for Smart Objects includes showing them in the file, and using them on the backend when you request your layer(s) to be scaled while exporting (i.e., when scaling up, the highest quality image is used). We also display the colors, fonts and gradients from the included Smart Objects in the Extract Styles panel.
We have considered providing a way to open Smart Objects from within Extract, and could use some feedback from you on how this user experience would work best for you. Would you prefer option a) or b) below, and why?
a) When opening a Smart Object, it opens in the current browser window, replacing your current view of the PSD.
b) When opening a Smart Object, it opens in a new browser window, which receives focus (is the frontmost browser tab/window).
Also, if you tried to open a Linked Smart Object when the linked file is not available, what would you expect to happen?
Would you describe in more detail what you mean by: "Could a smart object or linked layer be expanded on upload?" and how you'd use this feature?

Linking Smart Objects

Does anyone know of an Extension that Links Smart objects. Much the same way you would link in InDesign or Illustrator?
I used to use one in CS4 'Smart Objects Link Panel',but since upgrading to CC I cannot use this extension.

Hyperion Smart Cut Session Issue streaming multiple reports at a time using

This is a lengthly post with details, Please review with Patience:
We are trying to integrate Workspace based web Analysis reports within our intranet portal, thru portlets (made from individual workspace smartcut link), so that users can customize their page as needed, Once they login thru intranet, Cookie is set and passed to succeeding smart cut links via secured http headers. This part is fine, but mainly running into issue with streaming several multiple web-analysis reports at a time,+ we are using Iframe to display and stream multiple individual reports on to one page, but unfortunately all Iframes are sharing one session rather than creating individual session, mostly because of limitation of current web analysis system architecture and IE browser behavior with sessions .
Which Hyperion reporting tool does allow to stream multiple reports at a time? ideally we want to create Iframe of each workspace report so that users can customize and pick portlets as needed. To stream multiple reports at a time.
Problem Description: Hypeiron Web Analsysis, Smart cut reports incorrectly rendering images and intermixing dash boards on POV changes upon multiple reports being diplayed at one time thru Iframe's, issue seem to mostly relate to Hyperion using single session rather to multiple session when displaying several web reports at a time.
Steps Needed To Reproduce:
User logs into workspace.
user click on expolore and able to view the report without any issues.
When right on any of the report and select properties.
Select the SmartCut url and paste it in the Internet explorer.
The webanalysis report opens without any issues.
Similarly user copies the smartcut url for a different report and paste the link on a different tab or new window of same browser.
The report on the first tab gets over written of the report of the second tab of the browser.
The issue happens when two different reports and opened on a browser with multiple tabs. The reports get over written.
Oracle development answer:
In the described scenario opening new browser window does not spawn a separate independent browser session. A new browser window is supplied with URL pointing to the same domain, so all browser cookies including the "ORA_WA_SID" (WA session cookie) are shared between the windows. But multiple application instances cannot run in the same browser session simultaneously because of session sharing. This is not actually a defect, but rather a limitation of current system architecture and browser behavior. And there is no way to fix it programmatically on the product side.

Your current arrangement puts most of the session handling and persistence on the client. This forces you to accept whatever the client decides to persist and propogate between browser elements (in this case iframes).
My approach would be to:
Consider coding your portlets to manage the sessions. Manage using a somewhat stateless strategy so that each request to the server requires a login and connect, retrieve, and disconnect. Each Iframe should access a different portlet url (or provide a different query) based on its content.
This way, in theory, you can invalidate the sessions and related cookies and update the various report elements independently.
Is smartview out of the question here?
