Smart Shapes flashing during effects

I have a series of cascading animations of Smart shapes.  Let's call them one through ten. All have alpha 0% to 100% and fly-in effects applied. During the animation of shape one, shape two will appear for a brief flash and then disappear. During the animation of shape two, shape three will appear for a brief flash and then disappear, and so on.  This happens both when I use 'Preview in Browser' and when I publish. I've tried using the 'Fade In Only' transition instead of the alpha effect, with no change.
Thoughts?

Does it work fine if you only use the Alfa ToFrom Effect with 0 to 100% value?
I still get the flashing problem when I take out the Fly-in effect.
Can you also verify the timing properties for smart shape two, does it extend to a single or multiple slide?
All the animations begin and end within a single slide.
Does it occur when you preview in F4.
  Yes.
It looks like the behavior goes away if I turn off 'Use as Button' so I think I can do a workaround where I do the animation slide with just the dummy Smart Shapes then immediately progress to a slide with the Active buttons.  This does seem to be a glitch, however.

  • Issues with Smart Shape Buttons

Greetings all, another question for you Captivate Guru's out there...
Is there a way to force a non Smart Shape Button compliant LMS/Flex Wrapper to understand the object by adding a file that would identify the Smart Shapes as a valid button without updating the Adobe Libraries completely.
A certificate, perhaps some sort of Javascript, or something along those lines?
Is there a place where I can read the code that makes Smart Shape buttons work when published like current Flash Player protocol for them in the libraries?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I'm using a Mac (latest version).
@devices: Android and iOS smartphones and tablets as well as Mac and Windows PCs.

I'm not sure if I get you right, but the project I posted is nearly a blank project (created with CP7). So I think the answer is "yes".

  • How to make smart shape buttons turn colors after clicking on them?

How to make smart shape buttons turn colors after clicking on them?  I am using buttons as links to learning paths and would like users to know which buttons they have allready clicked on when returning to main menu.

This is reply I got from Adobe support.  I will try and let you all know what works best:
Here is the workflow which you can follow to achieve this functionality.
Puspendra: You can choose image button and then choose from the available image buttons, or click on the folder icon when you select the image button and choose from the Gallery of Captivate 6.
Puspendra: Few image buttons change color on hover or onclicked, these effects are predefined in them.
Puspendra: Or you can edit that button on which you are working, from properties Panel.
Puspendra: The Post and Cancel button on this thread seems like a transparent button in Captivate with different fill and stroke color, and transparency is also less, and with corner radius of 0.
Puspendra: You will find these all optionns, when you will click on that button and then click on the properties panel.

  • Smart Shape Buttons Not Working With Scalable HTML5 (in Captivate 7)

    Hey everyone,
first of all: everything was fine with CP 6, but since we upgraded to CP 7, I have troubles with smart shape buttons (exported as scalable(!) HTML5)! This is incredibly annoying.
When a project is exported as scalable HTML5, I cannot click smart shape buttons which I use quite often. I tried Chrome, Firefox, Safari, iOS, ...
When exported as flash or non(!) scalable HTML5, everything works, but it looks horrible on Smartphones – so this is not a solution we can work with.
    I uploaded an examle:
    Captivate-File: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/340109/A1/Test_CP_Forum.cptx

We have customers waiting for projects to be finished and I really rely on clickable smart shapes!
I kindly ask for a solution

  • Captivate 7 - Shrinking Smart Shape Buttons II

Since my last question was a little difficult and no one seemed to be able to help I'm hoping to receive a better response on this one as it is most definitely a little easier to explain and I think will be simpler to troubleshoot.
I was able to create a .swf with smartshape buttons that keep all the smart shape buttons at their needed size but once I load them into our LMS/Flex Wrapper the buttons contine to shrink per click (I think this is because Adobe Flash Player doesnt know what to do with it).
My solution is I'm trying to find a way to either do one of the following two things (reload or "refresh" the button in advanced actions after a click so that it will always have the first click sizing) or ...
The second is a little more involved as I found that the sizing happens on the 'down' action of the button and not the 'click'. This means that if I could remove the 'down' graphic functionality from my smart shape buttons and keep the up and click actions in theory the button might work and not cause the image shrinking...
    Thoughts....
    Anyone....
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hi Stephen,
I don't think there is any simple solution to this and the problem needs to be addressed by Adobe. The solution that I've applied (In CP8) seems to be working for when users accidentally click the edge of a smart shape button. What happens at this point is the button shrinks and the user's cursor is no longer under the active area of the smart shape and the action attached to the smart shape does not fire. In some situations I have noticed that the smart shape button has continued to shrink with each click that does not fire the action.
I have found that this issue is partly resolved in CP8 with the introduction of different button states. If I use smart shapes as buttons in CP8 I make sure that I apply Rollover and Down states for my buttons. Where possible provide a slightly larger stroke width to the down state which increases the size of the button so that when the default shrinkage happens on the down state the additional stroke width compensates for this. This appears to have solved the problem for me with the actions not firing and to some degree the shrinkage issue. If you are still on CP7 then I sorry this does not provide you any real help but I hope that it gives you some other ideas to work on.

  • Smart shape and changing shape, Captivate 8

When capturing a demo, I want the smart shape to be the oval callout, but that is not an option in preferences.Instead I'm getting a cloud callout. Is there a way to set up preferences for the oval callout?
Is it possible to change a cloud callout to a round corner rectangle?

For the automatic shapes during capture, there are only four options, for the rollover shapes you have only three (which can also be used for Assessment and Training simulations). And you are correct (logged the request for it already for CP7, as you can suspect) that there is no Default Capture Shape style as there is a Default Capture Caption style. But normally if you choose the rounded rectangle before capture, it will use that one instead of the cloud shape...I did choose the rounded rectangle right from the start using Preferences before opening any file. And I always get that shape, with the fill and stroke of the Shape style that is within the theme:

  • Is it possible to convert text captions to Smart Shapes?

    Hello,
I have a collegue that is using Cp 5 to record software simulations which then need to be brought into Cp6. The problem is that our standards (for software simulations) employ Smart Shape call outs (not the Cp 5.5 and earlier text captions).
Is it possible to convert these text captions into our themed Smart Shapes either automatically inside Captivate 6 or by modifying the content within the CPTx file?
    Thank you,
    Shawn

    Hello Lilybiri,
As always you are awesome! :-)
    >I don't believe an automatic switch will be possible, because smart shapes are totally different objects.
I understand because there are a huge variety of shapes in either format. But I suspect that it should be easy to convert a text caption from any style to one specified smart shape style.
Actually, I am asking before the simulations get started. So nothing has been done yet. I am unsure what you are suggesting I should do in the preferences under Cp 5.5. Are you suggesting that there is a way to convert 'some format' of text callouts, in a Cp5.5 demonstration simulation, to Smart Shapes in Cp6?
    >but since you already have created the simulations, it has to be done manually. Hoping for you that
    >someone has a bright idea, but I do not see one immediately.
For anyone else in this situation, it would be handy to have a solution (rather than painstakingly convert each manually).
I am wondering if this might be a relatively easy search/replace within one of the xml files within the CPTx file. I'm going to look at this tonight.
    Thanks for your assist.

  • How do I add a hover state to a smart shape button on the master slide? CP7

I want to use a button with a hover state on my master slide in CP7. I created a smart shape and checked the box 'use as button.' I then created 3 image files with the "x_up, x_down, x_over' extensions. When I select my smart shape and choose a custom pattern from the fill menu and select my 'x_up' image file, the smart shape does not recognize the hover state. Is there another way to achieve this?
    Thanks!

Thanks I think I get it now after reading your post. Shape buttons can only shrink when they are pressed and nothing else. I was thinking a work round for me would be to use a regular button with the up, over, down state, put this regular button on the first slide and set the timing for 'display for rest of project.' However I don't see this option in the timing panel:
    Is this option somewhere else?
    Thx!

  • How do I create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6?

I am trying to create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6 with my MAC computer.

    Try this:
Add Cross Dissolve, cut and nest
Add a Fast Blur to the nest and tweak as in first screendump
Superimpose orange Color Matte and tweak as in second screendump
Make (fixed) effects into presets for future use.
    Good luck.

  • Add smart shape in caption on quiz slide

    Hi!
I´m trying to add a smart shape on a question slide in the failure and success captions. However, the shapes aren´t visible and I can´t add audio which is my main purpose. I want the participant to have the option to click on the smart shape when they have answered a question and the success or failure caption shows, and by clicking on the shape the audio plays. Adding smart shapes with this function on other parts of the question slides works fine, I just have problems with the failure and success captions.
    I use Captivate version 8.
    Kind regards, Gunilla

@andreleal Just to rectify: in Captivate 8 you can replace the default captions by default shapes, there is a style for bot in the OSM. When you check this option, it is not only valid for Success/Failure/Hint captions on interactive objects but also on Question slides. I never use captions anymore when I can avoid them.
But I don't think that is what the OP was asking for. He wants to insert a shape in the SHF captions to create a shape button that can trigger an audio clip. Inserting something interactive in a caption has never been possible. And inserting an interactive object on a question slides is only possible, within limits for shape buttons. Maybe some clarification, although not the exact solution in this blog post:

  • Playing Smart Shape Audio Only When Clicked

I’m working on a project in Captivate 6 that has a lot of audio usage. When a slide begins, an audio file plays automatically. There are also two visible buttons per slide, made from smart shapes, that each contain a different audio file. After the learner clicks one of the smart shape buttons, I need it to play an audio file in response to the learner’s answer.
The problem I’m having is that both the slide audio and the two buttons’ audio begin playing concurrently when the slide begins (an auditory triple exposure). Can an advanced action be created to pause the smart shape button audio so it won’t play until the button is clicked?
NOTE: I tried attaching the button audio files to success captions (which are connected to the smart shape buttons) to cause them to wait until clicked before playing. This worked successfully, but this also is problematic. If the second success caption is clicked before the audio from the first one is done playing, they both play at the same time. If there was a way to apply advanced actions to success captions to fix this, that would be great, but, I don’t see any options in the properties window.
Is there a solution to my problem?

@Sreekanth  You have a superfluous command. No need to stop a triggered audio when you want to play another audio clip. Both statements/commands are designed so that you can only play one audio clip at the same time, which means that 'Play Audio...' will automatically stop the former audio clip. However the slide audio can not be stopped with Stop Triggered audio. Did you check your solution? Slide audio can not be controlled separately, you can only mute it with cpCmndMute. But that will mute all audio.
@5deMayo (significance of that nickname is puzzling?) If you want to be able to control the slide audio, you have to get rid of the slide audio and use the Play Audio command on entering the slide. Use that same command to add to the advanced action triggered by the shapes. No need to add the command Stop Triggered Audio, which is only necessary when you want to stop an audio clip without starting another one.

  • Drag and Drop Smart Shapes Not Scoring Correct

I have 6 smart shapes as drag sources and 6 smart shapes as drop targets. All of them are the exact same size, but I can't get them to recognize a correct answer using an absolute snap behavior and a 20 pixel hit padding. There is more than enough space around each target so there is no overlapping going on. It continues to show a failure when all of the drag sources are correctly placed on the targets.

I checked your interaction and here are my observations. I have also added how I went about testing, so that you can probably repeat the same when face a similar issue. My approach is just my way, and not necessarily the best way.
It was clear that the interactions were not accepting your correct answers. So, to identify which "correct" answers were considered incorrect by the interaction:
          a) I created a variable "CheckAns" and displayed it in a text caption.
          b) In the Acceptable Drag Sources of each Drop Target (select the drop target, click Accept.. in the Drop Target accordion), I executed the following advanced action for the correct combination.
                 i) Increment CheckAns by 1
                ii) Assign cpCmndGotoFrame with cpInfoCurrentFrame
For example, the Vision drop target accepts all sources. I executed the advanced action only for Vision source. Thus, when the Vision source is dropped on the target, the variable value in the text caption I created in 1.a) increments by 1.
Result: When I took a preview of this version, I noticed that Vision and Integrity sources were not considered as the right answers even when I place them on the right targets, probably because I was not placing the sources in the right positions. (I played around your targets before this step. So, when you test, this might happen for some other objects.)
Next step was to identify the exact "right" position for these two sources. So, I enabled the On Hint caption for these objects. The On Hint caption appears only when you drag the source to the "acceptable" position of the drop target. To enable it, select the drop target, go to Drop Target accordion, and select the On Hint check box.)
Result: The On Hint caption appeared when I drag the source a bit too far from the actual Drop Target object. And, when I placed the source in that position, my CheckAns variable value increased by 1.
Conclusion: The issue is because of the position. It will be better (and perhaps more easier) to create this interactivity from scratch. Do not use the drop sources and targets from this interaction. Also, for Failure, I suggest you assign the "Go to next slide" action instead of Continue. This is just to ensure that the project moves to next slide and not necessarily the next frame (Continue command moves only next frame). Also, as a best practice, I strongly encourage you to use appropriate names for any objects in your project. For example, you can name Vision source object as Vis_Src. The Next button can be named "Next_Bt". When I opened your project, that is the first thing I did. It will be extremely useful when you are using these objects in advance actions. Imagine how difficult it will be if you want to hide the Next button on the last slide of your project, and you will see a huge list of buttons, named Button_1 to Button_127. Which button will you hide?
Additional info: I started a blank project. I created similar drop sources and targets (circles with outlines) and layout, and used only your success caption. Added the verification elements I mentioned above and everything worked fine.
    Hope this helps.

  • Smart shape callout pointer behavior not that smart

when moving the pointer on rectangular smart shape callout it jumps from one corner to the next.  Why can't I position the pointer at the middle of the box (or anywhere I want it to be)?  Is there a way to do this?

    Hello again
Thanks for the links. I think I sorted it.
Click the slide in question and look at the properties. You have the option "Master Slide Objects on Top" enabled. Something about that is preventing the shape from sensing the rollover.
Click to clear that option and the mouseover should then work.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Smart shapes and caption styles

The default Halo Blue caption style has a pleasing 3-dimentional look with shading, but the pointer on it is not resizable. The smart shapes give the ability to resize the pointer, but they look very flat. Is there a way to add the shading of Halo Blue to a smart shape?

Jay, each smart shape can have a solid fill, a gradient fill and a texture/image. In the screenshot I have the gradient that corresponds with Halo Blue. Try also the Texture functionality out.

  • Adobe Captivate Help | Smart shapes

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/smart-shapes.html

The Fit to Stage is not functional in any version of Captivate 6, as described in the Texture Fill, when choosing an image with the Browser icon. When the image is bigger than the shape, the Edit Image dialog box doesn't even appear in 6.1.319.
