Smart sharpen filter in CS5 not working

Hi,
My smart sharpen filter is no longer working It seems to be doing it's job when I have a preview dialog box open, but as soon as I ok the changes the original image appears as if nothing happend. I've tried different files and it the same story: nicely sharpened image in the preview box and than nothing changes. And it used to work very well in the past. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

When you are zoomed out, many pixels are averaged into a single display pixel. For performance reasons, the sharpening is previewed on that downsampeld version of the image. When you apply the filter, it applies to the full resolution version of the image, which then gets downsampled again for your zoomed out preview.
So, let's say you had a grid of black and white pixels. Zoomed out, it looks like gray. Sharpening would appear to have an effect depending on the zoom level, but would never have any effect on the base level.
And no, there is no way to keep performance reasonable and give you an accurate preview of applying the filter to the full resolution image.

Photoshop CS6 on W7 platform crashing recently using smart sharpen filter.

Been working on a project moving files from Lightroom 4 to Photoshop CS6 for final edits and experiencing recent files crashing PS CS6 when using the smart sharpen filter. I've processed hundreds of files in CS6 and never had this issue till lately. All other filters work fine, including other sharpen options, it's just the smart sharpen interface. I over-installed/re-installed Photoshop CS6 thinking a driver might have corrupted for that filter, then installed all available upgrades but the problem persists. I can't figure it out, and it's a problem - I use smart sharpen a lot for final output. Am I overlooking something simple? Or, do I need to just uninstall PS CS6 and do a total re-install or is there another option? Thanks.

Smart collection has "source color profile" as filter option, does not work on camera profiles

In Lightroom 5 i tried to use the "source color profile" filter option in smart collection, however it only seems to work on rgb files (jpg, tiff) that have a profile embedded. It does not work on values like "Adobe Standard" which is a "source" profile of a RAW file, or any of the camera profiles i can choose fo given Raw file. What am i doing wrong?
The Help does not give any clue on this, nor does the coverage by any of the Lightroom guru's like Juleanne Kost.

In my opinion the filter is acting correctly.
The Adobe Standard profile is not a profile defined in the source file, it is a profile assigned to the file in the raw converter and used with raw files that do not have a source color profile, already, so to me the filter is acting correctly because “source” means where the profile comes from, rather than what profile a master photo has had assigned to it.
The source-color-profile option is useful to determine the size of the color gamut in a file’s color numbers which indicates its suitability for various purposes: An sRGB file can be safely uploaded to the web, an AdobeRGB file is going to look right on a wide-gamut monitor and printablebut shouldn’t be uploaded to the web, while a ProPhotoRGB file has a large color space and can be safely edited in a way that adjusts the colors significantly, especially if it is 16-bit, without color-banding or posterization, but a ProPhotoRGB file will probably not look good if directly uploaded to the web or sent to a print-shop that doesn’t do their own color profile conversions.
I would agree that being able to filter raw files based on the assigned color profile would also be useful, but this is a different thing, to me at least, than filtering by the source-color-profile.

Photoshop CS5 (Mac) How to load custom Smart Sharpen filter?

Yesterday I was working with a collection of photos, and saved my Smart Sharpen settings. As I moved from one photo to another, I was able to choose my saved settings in the dropdown menu. Today, however, all that is available is "default" -- how can I load yesterday's saved settings?

If you don't exit Photoshop gracefully, it doesn't write settings changes out to disk.
It's not something one should have to worry about, but it's always a good idea after you make a Photoshop configuration change (or create named settings, or similar) to just exit Photoshop right away.

Photoshop CS5 not working as editor in Lightroom 3.

Photoshop CS5 is not working as the default external editor in Lightroom 3. It works as the Additional Editor but then I cannot use any of the functions associated with the primary such as Merge to HDR, Open as Smart Object, Open as Layers. I have not been able to find an answer althought there are many similar problem threads.
What happens? When I try to edit in PS5 primary external editor, photoshop opens and nothing happens with .dng files. Tiff files open. Raw do not open Not sure about psd. Cannot do anything with multiple files as they do not open at all (PS5 opens as usual- Nothing happens if PS5 already open)
Mac 10.8.3
LR 3.6 Camera Raw 6.6
PCS5 12.0.4 ACR 6.7
If anyone has solved this, please help me!!! I know its old software but it's what I have and would like it to work.

You are seeing this Apple caused bug:
Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file? at startup / Tools act strangely.
There is a link to an unofficial Adobe fix.
Any word from Cupertino when this might get addressed?

Filter in RSPLSE not working.

I have made the Lock setting for one of the IP query in RSPLSE EXPERT mode. It is working fine in Dev environment. But I have transported settings to Test and it is not working there. Please elt me know what I could be missing out.

Photoshop CS5 not working with Lucida Grande Regular font

On my iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, I am running OS 10.6.7.
When using Photoshop CS5, if I try to use the font, Lucida Grande Regular, it causes an error.
"Could not use the type tool because of a program error."
When I try to open an existing file that has type layers that include the font Lucida Grande Regular, Photoshop will not open the file. I have several of these files that I want to use. I can open them on another Macintosh and everything works fine.
First I get a message window that says, " Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now?" I click on update and then get the following message. "Could not complete your request because of a program error."
I have updated Photoshop CS5 to the latest version, 12.0.4.
I have run the FontTest.jsx script and it shows an error for Lucida Grande Regular.
(IOError: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop.

The other 100+ fonts on my machine did not create errors.
Since Lucida Grande Regular is an essential font for Mac OS X, I re-installed OS 10.6 in order to have a new version of Lucida Grande Regular. After that re-install I am having the same problems with the font not working in Photoshop.
It also does not work with Adobe InDesign CS5. The font does work in Microsoft Word.
The program Font Book verifies Lucida Grande Regular.
Other fonts including, Lucida Grande Bold, work fine in Photoshop and InDesign.
What can I do to get Photoshop CS5 to work with Lucida Grande Regular?

Wow, I'm so glad I found this thread. This problem has been dogging me for years, and it's so sporadic that I've been afraid of breathing the wrong way lest I somehow incur that diabolical Program Error dialog. I'd managed to reach a truce with Photoshop CS5, getting it into a barely working state, and avoiding all updates... until Lion came along today. Then I updated to CS5 12.0.4, and the Program Errors were back again.
Now I see that the problem does seem to be related to the Lucida Grande font. If there's a layer with that font in it, not only can I not edit that text, but I can't marquee select anything, nor drag any shapes. Deleting caches and massaging fonts are completely ineffectual measures... but if I delete the Lucida layers entirely, we're back in business.
At least so far.
Funny to think that of all the innovations I'd like to see Photoshop adopt, the fixing of this one issue is the thing I'd like to see most. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread, and any updates by Mr. Cox.

Smart rendering for DNxHD quicktimes not working in Premiere Pro CC

Hi if I understand things correcty PPCC should be able to smart render DNxHD codec in a quicktime wrapper back . If so this does not appear to be working. I am noticing small differences if I pull in a DNxHD quickitme clip in to Premiere and just render straight back out again no effects just cuts as DNxHD Quicktime. My sequence is set up to be the same as the codec. Although I do notice that trying to set the exact settings for the quicktime codec is not easy as it resets back to the defaults of DNxHD 220 59.94i so maybe this has something to do with it and their is no option to choose the MXF setting for my medi a as Adobe have neglected to make a DNxHD115 preset.
If you look on the YC waveform you can see the changes occuring when you compare the two side by side. This however does not happen if you render out as Opt1a MXF as it does appear to smart render and when ingested back in you see no difference with the source DNxHD clip. I also notice that when you choose the Opt1a option it has an extra check box for smart rendering.
Anyone noticed this. It all works perfectly for ProRes quickitmes so just wondering why its not working for DNxHD quicktimes.

Here's what I have for you:
Smart Render support for DNxHD wrapped in QuickTime was added in Premiere Pro CC
You must have Avid codecs installed
No option to check to enable smart rendering is needed, Premiere Pro always tries to smart render by default
The first thing I would check is to see if the DNxHD (QuickTime) codecs are installed or not.

Filter and navigation not working properly

Hi Gurus,
I have two reports - report1(source) and report2(target) report.
In report1, it shows two columns - Market_ID, Amount_sold
In report2, it shows two columns - Market_ID, Reasons(where Market_ID is made prompted)
In report1, I have made the Value Interaction as 'Navigate' and the target as 'path of report2' in Column properties ->Column Format
But, when I click on Market_ID(report1), it is NOT showing the details of that particulat Market_ID(report2).
It is showing the details of whole Market_ID in report2. That means, the filter is not working properly.
Is there any method in which the report2 shows the details of particular Market_ID which is selected from report1(market_ID)?

yes you can,
in your source add a master_name column and in that make the navigation.
in the master_id column go to column format and style options and check the Use Custom CSS style option and type,
display: none
now in your source the master_id column will get hidden. in your target make the master_id prompted.
now click on the master_name in your source, your target will get filtered by the corresponding msater_id

DTP filter routine is not working

I am working with BI 7 and I have created following filter'routine in the DTP.
But the routine is not filtering.
The statement : read table l_t_range with key
                           fieldname = 'CLEAR_DATE'.
is not working. sy-tabix = 0
Fieldname is really CLEAR_DATE
Please can you tell me what is wrong in the routine

Try adding the following:
l_t_range-fieldname = 'CLEAR_DATE'.
to your code:
l_t_range-low = w_date_low.
l_t_range-high = w_date_high.
l_t_range-sign = 'I'.
l_t_range-option = 'BT'.
And at the end append/modify like this:
if l_idx NE 0.
    modify l_t_range index l_idx.
else.
    append l_t_range.
endif.

OBIEE - Filter SQL Expression Not Working At All - Shows SQL But Not Result

Im at my wits end for this
I have a report where I am using a filter with a simple SQL expression
cast ( timestampadd(SQL_TSI_YEAR, -1, Cast(Cast(DATE '@{pv_as_of_date}{2013-04-01}' AS CHAR) AS TIMESTAMP) ) as DATE)So an end user may input a date and this is passed into the filter via a variable
pv_as_of_date
This is defaulted to 2013-04-01
I want to subtract 1 year to make the end result
2012-04-01
When I run the report I am seeing two issues
1) When displaying the filter at the bottom, I see the full SQL code. Shouldnt this show the date returned? In this case shouldnt the filter show 2012-04-01?
2) The filter does not even work which is my bigger problem
I tested the above code in a column and I KNOW that the date is being returned as expected
But when I use the same SQL code in the filter then it doesnt work
Am I missing some special button some where to enable SQL expressions?

So I was able to find an option "Protect Filter" that seemed to make a bit of difference and I got the date part working after using the above corrected code (thanks)
But now I want to add in the rest of my filter conditions and it does not seem to be liking it

Delta download of material with filter on "ZFIELD" not working :-(

We have made a new field in basicdata of the material master (table MARA). We would like our EBP material filter to react on the value of this field. But it's not working
In table SMOFFILFLD we have added the new field: Objekt MATERIAL table MARA field ZOVEBP. Now the field is available for the filter setup in R3AC1. I then setup the filter for the field
TABLE FIELD OP LOW HIGH Incl./Excl
MARA ZOVEBP CP Contains Pattern X I Inclusive defined set/array
If I try making the filter on a standard MARA field ie. MATNR it working just fine...
What to do?

open the function module CRS_FIRST_DOWNLOAD_TRIGGER and load the data and debug the steps with as minimum material as possible; you can change the filter at R3AC1 to different product category which has less materials and do the debugging during this initial load.
Let us know what was the error!

Photoshop CS5 not working after reinstalling OS

"To open “Adobe Photoshop CS5.app,” you need to install a Java SE 6 runtime, but you are not connected to the Internet." This is what I get when trying to open CS5, it worked before I reinstalled the OS due to a crash.
I can't dwonload the Java SE 6 as it says it is not compatible.
Anyone got a fix for this? I am a photographer so need Photoshop.
I am connected to the internet when doing this.

After effects cs5 and photoshop cs5 not working

Hello!
I have a problem with AE cs5 and photoshop cs5 i download the trial version of the master collection and i install some of the program all work fine but AE and photoshop, the problem is when i try to open AE it load perfect but when the interface is out it give me this error
and i have nothing more open or anything just the AE so that with AE>
And photoshop the problem is that when i try to open the photoshop 64 bit it starts to load the program but it crashes, it give no error or anything but the 32 bit version works fine, please help.
im using a windows 7 64 bit, 4 gbs ram, and 1 gb video nvidia Geforge GT 240M

Update/ adjust your graphics card driver. Both crashes seem pretty clearly related to issues with graphics acceleration not working as required by both programs.
