Smart Slice error

Hi There,
I got my data source manager connecting to my essbase appilcation and database, and am able to do ad hoc analysis. Then I try to right click database and add "Smart Slice". However I got the following error:
cannot get olap user. Essbase error(1030008):NULL argument (2) passed to essapi function essgetuser
not sure what is wrong here.

Make sure you're provisioned as Administrator in APS and in the Database where you're wanting to create the smart slice.

How can I fix SMART disk errors?

Ive had SMART disk errors for years now and its not allowing me download maverick or yosimite. I tried to download embroidery software just now and now it says “no file system” or something like that. What do I have to do to finally fix this annoying problem? I have done disk utility repair and I guess that was no go. Can anyone walk me through fixing this or do I have to basically buy a new computer? If its a matter of sifting through data someone can walk me through but if they gotta open up the guts on this thing, then I guess I’m in trouble. Any advice?

Your disk is dying not the entire iMac. The disk can be removed & replaced. The Mac should be able to work again. Disks start at about $50 - so you probably don't need to throw it out just yet
The issue is with Seagate drives that Apple installed. Technically not Apple's fault, but as they sold the hardware they are responsible for product recalls etc.
See if an Apple store can help you.

Smart View error when opening Powerpoint files read-only

Users are experiencing the following error when they open a Powerpoint file as read only. Using MS Office 2007 with Hyperion 11.1.2.1 Doesn't happen in edit mode. Error reappears every time user pages down to next slide. Quite annoying!
Shape. Tags : Invalid request. Presentations cannot be modified.
Has anyone experienced this issue and resolved it?

Symptoms
In Smart View Version 11.1.2.1.000, when attempting to open a PowerPoint document that is already open by other user the following error occurs:
ERROR : Shape.Tags: Invalid Request. Presentation cannot be modified.
Cause
This issue has been verified as Unpublished Bug 12418027: SMART VIEW ERROR : SHAPE.TAGS : INVALID REQUEST. PRESENTATION CANNOT BE MODIFIED
The cause of the problem is that when a presentation is edited by another user, an exception will be thrown while trying to query the tags in the presentation from a different process.
Solution
This issue has been fixed in the Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Release 11.1.2.0.000 Patch Set 1 (PS1): 11.1.2.1.102 Release.
This patch is available via My Oracle Support:
1. Log into the My Oracle Support portal.
2. Choose the Patches & Updates tab.
3. Enter the Patch Name or Number from the drop-down box.
4. Perform a search for Patch:12968304 for your corresponding OS platform.
5. The patch file includes both installers and the readme.

Question regarding Smart slice

1. How can we create a Asymmetric Smart Slice.
Eg: In row, first row containing one combination like Acc1->Entity1 and second row Acc2->Entity2
2. we have created couple of smart slices on one application, how can we replicate these smart slices to another application, kind of smart slices migration from one application to other?
3. How Can we select Level0 members of a parent? I have seen only two functions children and descendants. Descendants including the parents, but I need only Level0 members not the parents.

Sorry to contradict but generally JCRE doesn't need to be loaded: it's integrated inside the operating system.
Javacards are delivered with this inside, so no use to bother about loading JCRE.

Essbase - SmartView Smart Slice View Filter

Hallo There,
My customer asks me to create filter in SmartView. When we create Smart Slice for Essbase, we will have the list
New SmartSlice
New SmartSlice 1
New SmartSlice 2
etc..
My customer wants if she can view New SmartSlice 1, but her colleagues won't be able to see New SmartSlice 1 as well, only can see New SmartSlice 2.
As far as I know, this is not possible as Essbase doesn't store any security for Smart Slice level.
Could someone please advice if that's really not possible or there is any workaround regarding the request?

I don't think you can assign security to Smart Slice, by the only security that I see is smartview.smartslice.management.grantAnyUser which will grant any user to create a Smart Slice (Didn't see that working for a Read user though)

Smart card error

using exchange 2007, server 2008 r2. Win 7- outlook 2010 users are randomly getting "insert smart card" error. Some very randomly, some 2-3 times an hour. Out of 150 users only 10 having issue. Have checked IIS settings, they are fine. Issues with
updates were from 2012 and 2013, this started happening last week. Accounts are set up with an exchange account and a pop account. (we house the pop server).
Nothing makes sense!!! Very frustrating. Anyone help??

Based on my research, some community members who have a similar issue were able to fix it by adding Office14 STARTUP folder to the Trusted Locations configuration option in
Word. To do this, open Word, click File -> Options -> Trust Center->Trust Center Settings->Trusted Locations -> Add new location... Then, add the following path to the Path box:
If you're using 32-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\STARTUP\
If you're using 64-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\STARTUP\

The SMART status doesn't indicate that your hard drive has failed, but it indicates that it will fail soon. This is why it's important to make a backup and replace the hard drive

Where are Smart Slices stored (server / client)

Hi,
I wanted to know where are the Smart Slices stored ? Are they stored up in the client machine (machine dependent) OR are they stored up in the server (and hence accessible to the user from any machine) ?
We have big business group who are enthusiastic about Smart Slices and the wonders it could do in their needs.

They are not stored on the client as they are available to everyone. I'm not sure if they are stored in APS (which I think) or in Essbase.

Smart View error logging in to an application

Hello,
I successfully installed Smart View on a computer with Windows XP SP3. I can connect to the data source, but when I try to connect to an application, after entering the username and password, an error pops up: "Requested operation failed. Error: java.lang.NullPointerException"
Do anybody know the issue?

Are you connecting to a Planning or Essbase datasource connection?
Can you try connecting to other DS connections to see if it works?
If connecting to an Essbase datasource, have you configured your APS correctly?

RDS Gateway + Smart Card Error [ The specified user name does not exist.]

I have the following Windows Server 2008 R2 servers:
addsdc.contoso.com, AD DS Domain Controller for contoso.com
adcsca.contoso.com, AD CS Enterprise CA, CDPs/AIAs published externally.
fileserver.contoso.com, RDS Session Host for Administration enabled
rdsgateway.contoso.com, RDS Gateway enabled
tmgserver.contoso.com, 'Publishing' rdsgateway.contoso.com but with pass-through authentication
And the following Windows 7 PCs:
internalclient.contoso.com
externalclient.fabrikam.com
There's no trust between the domains, the external client is completely separate on the internet but the CA certificate for contoso.com has been installed in the trusted Root CA store. All servers have certificates for secure RDP.
I enrolled for a custom 'Smart Card Authentication' certificate with Client Authentication and Smart Card Logon EKUs from the CA, stored on my new Gemalto smart card using the Microsoft Base Smart Card CSP.
From internalclient.contoso.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
using the smart card just fine with no certificate errors.
From externalclient.fabrikam.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
via rdsgateway.contoso.com using a username and password just fine with no certificate errors.
From externalclient.fabrikam.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
via rdsgateway.contoso.com using the smart card to authenticate to the gateway, and a username and password to authenticate to the end server, just fine.
BUT from when using a smart card to authenticate to the end server via the gateway, it fails with:
The specified user name does not exist. Verify the username and try logging in again. If the problem continues, contact your system administrator or technical support.
When I move the client into the internal network and try the connection again (still via the RDS Gateway), it works fine - the only thing I can think of is being outside the network and not being able to contact the AD DS DC for Kerberos is causing the issue
- but I'm pretty sure this is a supported scenario?
The smart card works fine internally, the subject of the certificate is the user's common name (John Smith) and the only SAN is
[email protected] which matches the UPN of the user account as it was auto-enrolled.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I had a similar issue where I am using a smart card through a Remote Desktop Gateway. I had to disable Network Level Authentication (NLA) on the destination Remote Desktop Server. If anyone has another way around this, I'd appreciate hearing it. I'd prefer
to use NLA.

PS CC Video Layer Smart Object error

I think I have found a bug, I'd like to see if it's reproducible for others. I don't know what the actual error is, but the error message says 'Photoshop could not complete the request because of a program error' (which I'm guessing is just a general error message that could be any number of things). To cause the bug, create a new blank video layer, and draw something on a few frames. Convert the layer to a smart object, and make a copy of the object on the timeline. Add transform key frames to each layer. Save the file. At this point, the file should still be able to play what is on the timeline (for me it does). Close the file, and attempt to reopen. PS should be unable to open the file.
Additional Info:
Whether the Smart object is composed of a single layer, or multiple layers, the error occurs.
I've only tested it so far with scale/rotation transformations, may happen with opacity and position
Altering the opacity and position of the second smart object without setting key-frames doesn't cause the error (just altering the opacity from the layers panel for example, or moving the video layer with move tool).
Timeline frame rate doesn't seem to affect it one way or another.
A few times when I didn't cause the issue intentionally for testing, I was still able to open the file, but attempting to start playback would then cause the error, which would crash Photoshop altogether. In those cases, I was able to find that one of the smart object layers in particular would crash photoshop when visibility was enabled/disabled, so I was able to drag all the other layers into a new file, only loosing one layer.
EDIT: Just to add, my question was: Can other people reproduce this bug?

I can also reproduce this bug.
It is also reproducible by creating a regular document.
Add a few layers with content.
Convert a few of those layers into a smart object.
Animate the contents of the smart object.
Everything works as expected. Timeline plays. Looks good.
Save: Get PS error "Photoshop could not update smart object because of a program error"
Save the animated file as it's own PSD just in case.
Close.
Re-open: Nothing works. Cannot scrub timeline, cannot save for web, cannot play timeline, cannot move objects.
Everything results in the error: "Photoshop could not complete the request because of a program error"
I have inadvertently lost a few hours of work a couple of times now due to this bug. It sucks because the work is there right in front of me but none of it is accessible to me.

Problem with Using Smart Fit - 'Error' mess

When I try to transfer higher bitrate?tracks to my device (MuVo N200)? using the Smart Fit feature, I get an error message: "unable to transfer". This just started happening tonight. I would like to solve this problem as I wish to put all tracks on my device @ 28 so that I can have the maximum amount of music. Yeah, that seems to work for now. I don't have time to experiment at the moment, but can you do this for several cuts at once and not just for one at a time? I'm sure you probably can. Smart sync error detection

I am developing a Smart Sync application and I am trying to read the ErrorConflict inbox. There is a special class for it called surprisingly ErrorConflictInbox. I have at the backend a call transaction logic, and I am simulating an error in this giving bad datum data to the call transaction. I am exporting a RETURN structure and after the call transaction I set the fields of it. In merep_mon transaction I can see that the return type of my BAPI is 'E' (error) though no error text can be seen in the transaction. What is worse, on the client side I can see no message regarding this error. In merep_mon I can see a line telling: Inbox data deleted (mobile ID = 0000000167, sequence number = 26). Could it be the cause that no error message appear on the client side? Or my approach is totally wrong?

yes, I have an upload SyncBO, and I sent some data to the backend which applies a call transaction logic for the incoming data. I sent purposely wrong datum data to have an error at the backend which I wanted to show to the client. At the backend I filled up the return structure with the error message of the call transaction, and at the client side I set up a MessageReplyObserver and a SyncReplyObserver object to catch this error message. The MessageReplyObserver didn't react at all for the error, and the SyncReplyObserver got an error message but it was a Middleware generated error message (Message class MEREP_01, message number 185) not the message with which I filled up the return structure. My question is how can I see the message from the backend at the client side.

for smartview query designer to work, do i have to install essbase client also?
