Hello friends
Can i have any in-built smart style which will give me bigger letters with bold font.

Hi,
In the standard smart style CACS_STANDARD -- Paragraph format " TI " contains Bold letters.
IF you want to create you own paragraph format in bold -- procedure is as follows:
1. Go to smartstyles
2. create paragraph format (PA)
3. In the PA choose FONT tab
4. Font style --- BOLD.
Now make use of the created PA where ever it is necessary.

HT201375 After Mavericks update there is no bold style for "al bayan" font.

Hi, I have issue after Mavericks update from Snow Leopard. There is no bold style for "al bayan" font. I already tried to uninstall and replaced with the backup, but no change. The Font works fine on the secondary MacBook on OS X Leopard.

For several weeks now after the 10.6 update every time I select some text in a new email and press apple + b for bold nothing changes!

The print format for the first line is set to bold, using the print-control code SABLD. The print-control code SAOFF turns off bold style, starting from the second line. Using the print-control code SAULN, the system underlines all lines starting from line 3.

How to add b tags in your XML when changing style to Bold

I'm currently checking if there is an easier way to automatically add tags when changing font style to Bold in your xml. I'm not sure how to override the format of a structured application automatically in FM. Do I need to create a script for this? Or is there any configuration that can be made to make this work automatically?

Most of the discussion on this thread has dealt with the relevance of the Bold button on FrameMaker's Text Formatting toolbar to structured documents.
While someone made the suggestion to create a element and then insert text within the new element, I don't think anyone has yet commented on how easy it is to wrap an element ( or another element) around existing content. You can do so with the Element Catalog. Simply select the content to be wrapped and double-click the tag of the new element (e.g., b) in the Element Catalog. Or click the tag in the Element Catalog and then the Wrap button at the bottom of the Catalog.
If you prefer to use the keyboard, you can use what is called Smart Insert in FM 11 and quick keys in earlier versions. The first three buttons at the bottom of the Element Catalog window are Insert, Wrap, and Change. You don't need to have the Catalog open to use Smart Insert. I mentioned the buttons only because that order is pretty easy to remember--1. Insert, 2. Wrap, 3. Change. The keyboard shortcuts Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2, and Ctrl-3 bring up the Smart Insert or Quick Keys to Insert, Wrap, or Change an element. With Smart Insert, a pop-up menu appears that shows the available elements. You can use the up and down arrow keys to navigate to the one you want, or type a unique prefix. Then press Enter to perform the operation (or Esc to cancel). With Quick Keys, the left side of the status bar at the bottom of the document window or Structure View (whichever is current) will prompt for the element tag with I: for Insert, W: for Wrap or C: for Change. Again, use the arrow keys or a prefix to display the desired element tag and then press Enter.
So, to create a new element to hold an existing string, select the string, type Ctrl-2 b, and press Enter.
That said, I will close with an observation on the use of format overrides in structured documents. While automatic formatting based on element structure is the heart of structured FM, the software was deliberately designed in recognition that as a practical matter it is sometimes necessary for an author to create formatting that the document's element definitions simply do not provide. It therefore allows the user to tweak the formatting (for example, by deliberating making some content bold without using the element structure to do so). Users should understand the difference between element-based formatting and format overrides and use the latter with care if at all.

Smart style in smartforms

Hi All.
I ahve an issue in the smartform printing.
I created a smart style through t.code:smartforms->styles.
In this smart style I created some paragraph formats for BOLD.
I assigned this smartstyle to the smartform.
But while seeing the output ,the BOLD is not comming.It is comming in a normal format only.
Can any body help me to solve this issue.

Error comes while save a smart style

While i am creating a smart style message comes 'Object can only be created in SAP package' .Then after creating a smrt style then when i am trying to save this smart style the error message comes like that 'SAP object [[style name]] cannot be assigned to package [[package name]] .
Can any one help me ...

Smart style is not effecting in smartforms print preview

Hi All,
i have created my smart style with HELVE font style and i have created paragraph formats for my smart style. And i assigned one of my paragraph format to header data-> standard format.
I have used this smart style in my smart form. But while doing print preview, my smart form output is not effected by the smart style which i have given. Output is displaying in the form of my smart styles-> header data-> standard format's font wise. Not effecting the paragraph formats what i have given in my smart form text editor.
could anyone reply me how to solve this issue.

You can do one last thing from your side to ensure you are absolutely right. Open your smartstyle and create a paragraph format under paragraph node, with name P1 (for example). Now in P1, keep the font as Helve and save and ACTIVATE.
Go back to your smartform, open the concerned text node. Select the text in it and from the drop down select P1. If you have not assigned this smartstyle to your form in attribute node, in that case you need to assign this smartstyle to your form (or in the output option tab of the text node) to get the P1 in the drop down.
Save and activate the smartform. And let us know if it solves your issue.

Nested Tab Leader Style for Price List Issue

Hello,
I wanted set up a character style for a tab leader that makes the font weight light as opposed to the bold paragraph style. I tried two character styles, one as a tab leader, and one as a dotted underline and got different results.
When I set up the nested style on my paragraph style using the character style "Leader Dots" is changing the price from bold to light.
When I set up the nested style on my paragraph style using the character style "Dotted Line" the dotted underline goes to the full right-justified width.
Both issues I think are b/c the tab is right-justified. See the attached images for examples.
I am trying to figure out a way to have either character style stop before the price, but keep the price right-justified. So in a nutshell it would be… Bold item name / Light tab leader / Bold price

Smart style regarding urgent please

i have a peculier issue. i have created a smart form label and created a style for it the problem is when i created the form it s workin all fine no issues but when i try to change the text elements then i get a error ie for example:
i have a line in the text editor as follows

its fine when i create . but when i go in and do changes and try to save it. the text is changed as follows
L1 <bc></></>&</></></></></>material</></></>&.
please help me in this issue its bit urgent

hi,
when ur doing in smartform, instead of writing explicitely the paragraph n character formats, u do it in other way.
i.e. in text editor, at the above of editor window, u'll have paragraph format n character format fields.
- first in 'output options' give ur style name.
- after that, in editor, at those two fields, u'll get the dpordown with all available paragraph n character formats,
- u simply select one from them,
- then automatically, they'll be applied to ur text.
this may solve ur problem.
hope ur clear with above. if any doubts, plz post it back.

Can I have 2 different styles for Footnote numbers and footnote text?

Hello,
I have a document with plenty of footnotes.
I would like to assign all the footnote numbers to a character style, and all the text to a different character style.
For example, I would like to have the footnote numbers in bold and in black, while the footnote text in light and in dark gray.
Doing this manually isn't an option obviously.
Is that possible?
If not are there any scripts out there that can manage it?

It is simpe to make.
Crete a Chyaracter Style for the footnote number.
Set up the Paragraph Style for the Footnote text.
Go to the Nested Styles section
Select the Character Style
Apply it to the first specified separator symbol (like tabulator) you have choosen when you have set up your footnotes.
Use it. It will apply automatically. Of course, you have to choose this Footnote Paragraph Style in the Footnote Set Up Settings in the Type menu.

I have created a message area.Iam displaying the sucess message in that area by using message manager-report_success.I assigned the message to a variable and passed that variable into the message manger.But it is displaying in normal mode.Do i need to create text view again for this?how can i bind this to that message.
