Smart View and Powerpoint 9.3.1.5--Refresh issues

Hi!
We just distributed our first Powerpoint deck to our financial analysts and it has been a disaster. Some get "report XXX" does not exist (they all have identical access to the reports). Others have slides deleted when they refresh. ANY help would be appreciated. We do not have time to go through a full upgrade--and IT will have our heads if we ask. The reports are due on Wednesday.
Those of us that have Full Control of the reports have no issues....Of 20 people who they were distributed to...@10-15 are having issues and they are on different reports, not the same ones which is VERY frustrating because there isn't even a common point we can even start to look at.
Thanks so much to anyone who can shed some light.

Hi John,
I am using this application in my office and they have recently migrated to 9.3.1.5 version. Can you please suggest me any quick fix or solutions for the above mentioned issues. Please let me know if we can do something for this as i need to spend lot of time in the system for uploading numbers.

Abhay

• Performance issues when using Smart View and Excel 2010

Hello, we are experiencing very slow retrieval times when using Smart View and Excel 2010. Currently on v.11.1.3.00 and moved over from Excel 2003 in the last quarter. The same spreadsheets in 2010 (recreated) are running much slower than they used to in 2003 and I was wondering if anyone else out there has experienced similar problems?
It looks like there is some background caching going on as when you copy and paste the contents into a new file and retrieve it is better.....initially. The size of the files are generally less than 2mb and there aren't an expecially large number of subcubes requested so I am at a loss to explain or alleviate the issues.
Any advice / tips on how to optimise the performance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

• "Open in Smart View" option. Hyperion Planning version 11.1.1.3

Failure to download planning form to Smart View using the "Open in Smart View" option. Hyperion Planning version 11.1.1.3. Error message "Web launch operation has been cancelled.
Your feedback is appreciated.

I understand you are on 11.1.1.3.
However, this is documented in the Known Issues section of the Smart View 11.1.2.1 readme and could be worth a try:
When you try to open a Planning web form in Smart View through Workspace, you may get this error: “Web launch operation has been cancelled.” This happens if Essbase has not been added as a server in Shared Connections. Workaround: Open the Smart View Panel in Smart View and add an Essbase server as described in the online help or "Adding Essbase Servers" in chapter 2 of the Smart View User's Guide.

• Issue importing interactive reporting into excel smart view 9.3

I am new to smart view, and while importing an interactive document from a system9 portal in excel, it always returns "Error Accessing Import Data", after clicking finish in the wizard, even though i was able to preview the document in the previous step. This also happens for a few other colleagues.
Wondering if anyone out there may be able to suggest possible root causes, would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Jeffrey

Copy the HsAddIn.dll, HsSpread.dll, HyperionSmartTag.dll and HsTbar.xla from the Bin folder in the install home of SmartView path : <Drive:>\Oracle\SmartView\Bin (by default)
Paste the files into the Add Ins folder for that user: C:\document and settings\<User>\ApplicationData\Microsoft\AddIns
Click the Start Button, then in the "Start Search" box type CMD but DO NOT press Enter yet.
Program cmd.exe should be found. Right-click on cmd.exe and choose "Run as Administrator" and click "Continue".
In the command line window register each file from point 1 using regsvr32 command:
regsvr32 C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns\HsAddIn.dll
In the Excel 2007 Go to Tools > AddIns > Browser for HsTbar.xla in the AddIns folder and then click OK.

• Importing FR into Smart View 11.1.2.1

When I open smart view and connect to FR, try to open an FR doc, I get the respond to prompt then an Essbase Error(1051085): You do not have sufficient access to get this substitution variable.] Any ideas what this means?

It means that you for some reason do not have access to one of the substitution variables created in Essbase that the FR report reads from.
Check with your Essbase developer/admin to determine which variable in question is causing the issue and resolve accordingly.

• 64-bit Smart View + Excel 2010 64-bit Issues - Help Please

Hello everyone.
First, I am not an "IT guy" so please bare with me as I am not technical but need help.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit Professional and Excel 2010 64-bit. I installed Oracle Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition 64-bit as an add-in within Excel.
I have worked with our "Hyperion Admins" to connect to the right server so that my "private connections" are set correctly (hopefully that makes sense).
However, when I attempt to refresh my Smart View query I end-up retrieving no data. The "refresh" button under "Smart View" in Excel will proceed as a refresh is occurring but then not return data (I know this Smart View template works as I've used it many times on 32-bit Excel).
Our admins have informed me that I cannot use 64-bit Smart View because our "server" is on a 32-bit O/S (or something similar to that). To me, the logic doesn't make sense and I'm hoping that there is a solution the admins are not aware of.
Happy to answer any questions and appreciate any help.

Cause
In 64-bit versions of Excel 2010 SP1, the presence of Smart View functions may cause Excel to terminate abruptly and may prevent Copy Data Point and Paste Data Point functions from working. This has been identified as a defect in Microsoft product.
Solution
Use the 32-bit version of Smart View until Microsoft issues fix for their 64-bit Office products.

• GL Wand conflict with the Smart View add-in

Hello,
Has anyone else come across a conflict with Smart View and a tool called GL Wand?
When our users run the two Excel add-ins at the same time, on exiting Excel they get a prompt for a login to GL Wand several times. The user will then have to press the Esc key several times (or hold it down for a few seconds) to get rid of the prompt. Bot Oracle Support and Excel4Apps have come back with a suggestion to disable the other add-in, which would make for tricky navigating of the month-end reporting process.
Would one of you gurus have a better suggestion for a workaround please?
thanks

• Smart View message regarding "dimension meber..found in comment region"

I created a report through Hyperion Smart View and it works well. However, I got a several messages like "Dimension member ...found in comment region at grid row 160 column 6 is being deleted" for entitiy members. The report will be refreshed but those entity members in messages will show blank. Can anyone help? Thanks.

this usually means there's a member incorrectly typed in one of the columns of that row, and smartview gets confused, thinking that row is for comments, and that the referenced column (6) therefore shouldn't be a member

I've experiencied similiar problems, though other users may have found a better solution, I've unlocked the spreadsheat, refreshed, and then relocked via a VBA macro. A button object at the top of the spreadsheet was added to make it easier for the users use as well. If there is a better solution I am very interested in this as well.

• Pasting smart quotes and apostrophes in code view.

Sine upgrading to Dreamweaver CS5, I haven't been able to copy/paste smart quotes and apostrophes into code view without them automatically being converted to straight quotes.
For example, the following sentence (notice the curly quotes):
John’s new song is called “DW Blues”
would get pasted into Code View as:
John's new song is called "DW Blues"
Notice the smart quotes and apostrophe are replaced with single and double ticks, or "straight quotes." While this seems like a minor detail, it's extremely important to our writers and editors to have them appear on the website exactly as typed.
If I do the same copy/paste in Design View (doc type is XHTML Transitional), it appears as:
John's new song is called "DW Blues"
The characters are still replaced, and the straight quotes are then entity encoded (as expected).
This doesn't happen with other valid UTF-8 characters like ™, ®, —, etc., or with any other code editors I've used, including DW CS3.
Is there a hidden preference somewhere to disable this "feature," or is it just a bug?
Please help!

It's now 4 years since jsparacio posted this, and I just wanted to let everyone know that I had -- and am still having -- the exact same problem with Dreamweaver CS5 (running first under Windows XP, then Windows 7, and now again with Windows 8.1). So it's not just Macs that are affected.
FWIW, I have set my DW CS5 Paste preferences to the 3rd of 4 options available
1 - Text Only
2 - Text With Structure
3 - Text With Structure Plus Basic Formatting
4 - Text With Structure Plus Full Formatting
in the EDIT > PREFERENCES > Copy/Paste Preferences dialog box.
But the Paste Special command ignores this setting, giving me only the first 2 options from which to choose, with option 2 the default selection for Paste Special operations (options 3 and 4 are grayed out, and can't be selected).
According to David Sawyer McFarland's _Dreamweaver CS5: The Missing Manual_ (O'Reilly Media, 2010), the reason these are grayed out is because I am pasting unformatted ASCII text which I generated in a program editor called "UltraEdit":
"... Choose EDIT > PASTE SPECIAL to open the Paste Special window. Here, you can choose which of the four techniques you wish to use ... sort of. You're limited to what Dreamweaver can paste. For non-Microsoft Office products, you can use only the first two options--the others are grayed out--whereas you can choose from any of the four with text copied from Word or Excel." (McFarland, p. 81)
Regardless of such restrictions, standard copy-and-paste (CTRL+C followed by CTRL+V) works just fine for me using Dreamweaver CS4 (i.e., I have never needed to use the Paste Special command), but with DW CS5, neither Paste command (CONTROL+V or CTRL+SHIFT+V) works properly with typographic/curly/smart quotes.
All typographic quotes -- ASCII-0146 and ASCII-0147 (double quote marks); plus ASCII-0145 and ASCII-0146 (single quote marks, for quotes within a quote) -- are converted to inch (" is entered in the code) and foot (' is entered in the code) marks when I copy-and-paste text with these characters into Dreamweaver's Design View.
When I copy this same plain ASCII text directly into the code (rather than using Design View), typographic double open & close quotes are converted to the inch (") mark, and typographic single open & close quotes are converted to the foot (') mark.
The beginning of this week, I installed Dreamweaver CS5, ver. 11.0, Build 4909 under Windows 8.1 OS on my new Ultrabook. I was hoping that under Windows 8.1, DW CS5's handling of typographic quotes might improve so that I can actually use this program that I purchased 4 years ago. Alas, no such luck: I continue to have the same problem I had when I first upgraded to Dreamweaver CS5 back in August 2010 (then running under Windows XP on my desktop computer).
Back in August 2020, when I first asked about fixes, I was told to change the Title/Encoding setting of Page Properties to "Western European" -- which I tried, but it didn't work then, and it doesn't work now ... and even if it did, it wouldn't be a proper fix for the problem as I have plenty of good reasons for wanting my HTML page Title/Encoding set to Unicode (UTF-8), not Western European ("charset=iso-8859-1").
The ability to copy-and-paste typographic quotes is such a big deal for me that I chose back in August 2010 to revert to Dreamweaver CS4, which I've been using ever since.
It is *very* frustrating that, 4 years later, I still can't use this program, and shall be reverting to DW CS4, yet again.
I continue to be completely flummoxed by this. Every other program with which I am familiar converts non-typographic quotes to typographic/curly/smart quotes ... never have I seen the process automated in reverse!

• View Word and PowerPoint in browser no longer working

Hi There,
I have SharePoint 2010 environment. I configured Word Viewing Service and PowerPoint service accordingly and all working perfectly. But recently it didn't work any more. I deleted services and recreate services, even stop and restart the service from Central
Administration interface didn't make it working. I got same error message as below:
I found some suggestions from Google, and I did check the setting, but I didn't fix the problem.
Regards,
Tony

You must increase the permission on both service applications and then execute an IIS reset. Follow the steps explained in below article and you should get the error resolved.
Fixing Office Web Apps "Network Connectivity has been lost error"
As given in article...
1. Run this script in PowerShell:
Remove-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -erroraction SilentlyContinue
Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -erroraction SilentlyContinue
Write-Host -ForegroundColor White "--------------------------------------------------------------"
Write-Host -Foregroundcolor green "Fixing Word Viewing Service Application"
$e = Get-SPServiceApplication | where {$_.TypeName.Equals("Word Viewing Service Application")}
$e.WordServerIsSandboxed = $false
Write-Host -Foregroundcolor green "Word Viewing Service Application is fixed"
Write-Host -ForegroundColor White "--------------------------------------------------------------"
Write-Host -Foregroundcolor green "Fixing PowerPoint Service Application"
Get-SPPowerPointServiceApplication | Set-SPPowerPointServiceApplication -EnableSandboxedViewing $false
Get-SPPowerPointServiceApplication | Set-SPPowerPointServiceApplication -EnableSandboxedEditing $false
Write-Host -Foregroundcolor green "PowerPoint Service Application is fixed"
Write-Host -ForegroundColor White "--------------------------------------------------------------"
2. Do an IIS reset on SharePoint Application Server.
Note: Office Web Apps must be installed on a farm which uses a domain controller. For standalone installations this fix will not
work. Before running this script please check the name of “Word Viewing Service Application“
and PowerPoint Service Application because it may differ in your system. You can check it either from central administration site or by running “Get-SPServiceApplication”
command.
Please remember to click 'Mark as Answer'
if the reply answers your query or 'Upvote' if it helps you.

• Smart View 11.1.2.5 with Office 32 Bit and 64 Bit

Hello,
Does anyone know if it's possible to install Smart View 11.1.2.5.210 on MS Office 2013 32 Bit and MS Excel 2013 64 Bit on the same machine? We have users that have both Office 2013 32 Bit and Excel 2013 64 Bit installed. It seems like when we run the SmartView.exe it is looking for the full Office 2013 64 Bit suite and it won't install for just Excel 2013 64 Bit. I'm not sure if it's an issue having both 32 bit and 64 bit or if it's because we don't have the full 64 bit Office suite installed.
Thanks!

It does not look for the full Office suit.
Do you have Office 32-bit and Office 64-bit installed on the same machine?
Thanks
