Smart View error logging in to an application

Hello,
I successfully installed Smart View on a computer with Windows XP SP3. I can connect to the data source, but when I try to connect to an application, after entering the username and password, an error pops up: "Requested operation failed. Error: java.lang.NullPointerException"
Do anybody know the issue?

Hi,
Are you connecting to a Planning or Essbase datasource connection?
Can you try connecting to other DS connections to see if it works?
If connecting to an Essbase datasource, have you configured your APS correctly?

Smart View error when opening Powerpoint files read-only

Users are experiencing the following error when they open a Powerpoint file as read only. Using MS Office 2007 with Hyperion 11.1.2.1 Doesn't happen in edit mode. Error reappears every time user pages down to next slide. Quite annoying!
Shape. Tags : Invalid request. Presentations cannot be modified.
Has anyone experienced this issue and resolved it?

Symptoms
In Smart View Version 11.1.2.1.000, when attempting to open a PowerPoint document that is already open by other user the following error occurs:
ERROR : Shape.Tags: Invalid Request. Presentation cannot be modified.
Cause
This issue has been verified as Unpublished Bug 12418027: SMART VIEW ERROR : SHAPE.TAGS : INVALID REQUEST. PRESENTATION CANNOT BE MODIFIED
The cause of the problem is that when a presentation is edited by another user, an exception will be thrown while trying to query the tags in the presentation from a different process.
Solution
This issue has been fixed in the Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Release 11.1.2.0.000 Patch Set 1 (PS1): 11.1.2.1.102 Release.
This patch is available via My Oracle Support:
1. Log into the My Oracle Support portal.
2. Choose the Patches & Updates tab.
3. Enter the Patch Name or Number from the drop-down box.
4. Perform a search for Patch:12968304 for your corresponding OS platform.
5. The patch file includes both installers and the readme.

I get the below error when i refresh a report from smartview.
Small reports works fine but if the report is huge i get this error

Event in "view error log"

Hi,
I am using sun web proxy server 4.0.3 for windows (windows 2000). I used 4.0.2 but I have got some problems with cpu usage (process usage 100 %...).
We are using Etrust Antivirus and recently I have got some problems when I am downloading new signature. Sometimes I can download new signature sometimes not.
In Server status, view error log, I have severals :
"[08/Sep/2006:12:34:53] info ( 3520): CORE3282: stdout: gc channel: ftpav.ca.com anonymous:sunproxy@ "
ftpav.ca.com is from where i'm downloading new signature.
Anyone can help me to understand these messages ?

I have the same problem with ftp. If I try to download the same file several times with help of ftp proxy, after third or fourth retry proxy rejects my connections.
It writes the same line in error log, and file is not accessible anymore.

Hyperion Smart View error

Hi
When i connect to essbase cube through smart view,when i click on refresh, i am getting an error says "Internal error occured".
please suggest what could be the issue,
for smartview query designer to work, do i have to install essbase client also?

You don't need to install the essbase client to use Query Designer in Smart View.

Smart View Error "OLAP_error (1020013)..."

Good Morning,
My client has Hyperion version 11, and is leveraging Smart View for reporting. Upon attempting to retrieve a report, the following error message was displayed, and the report was not retrieved:
"OLAP_error (1020013): The resultant report cannot be retrieved. Your report heading cannot be interpreted."
This is the first time this error has been encountered after months of usage. Can someone respond with the root cause and resolution?

I don't remember having encountered this error earlier.
From what you posted, I suppose- You might be having some templates on to which you're retrieving, may be, during month end OR on demand.
The only thing that I could think of is- The recent refreshes of your cube may've included members that are clashing with those custom text(s) on your Smartview report template.

Financial Reports import into excel using Smart View - error

I have encountered an error message when trying to use R&A Import.
The message is
Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition
"Excel cannot insert the sheets into the destination workbook, because it contains fewer rows and columns than the source workbook. To move or copy the data to the destination workbook, you can select the data, and then use the Copy and Paste commands to insert it into the sheets of another workbook."
This only affects some users and then they are able to reimport the reports no problem in the same workbook after the error is posted.
Does anybody know how to fix this issue?
We are using Excel 2007, Oracle Hyperion Smart View 11.1.13, Financial Reporting Studio, Hyperion Planning 11.1.13.

Answer appears to be users were using Excel 2007 in compatibility mode. Switching from compatibility mode to saving in Excel 2007 removed the errors.

Viewing Error Log

I tried to preview a form, but it created a rendering error log. When I viewed it, it looked something like the following:

Dezso,
I saved the log and renamed the extension to .pdf. When I tried to open it with Adobe reader, a message indicated either damaged or file type not supported.

Smart View Error

I’m struggling to change grid retrieves, which is a new post Fusion problem. If I copy and paste a different account line onto the grid I get this message that reads -
"Excel sheet has modified data cells. Do you want to submit the modified data cells before proceeding?"
If I click yes then it takes 5 minutes of thinking before I get this message:
"Cannot perform cube view operation. OLAP error (1020043): You do not have sufficient access to perform a lock on this database"
And then when I refresh the grid it reverts to the original account line names.
If I select no then the account lines revert to the original i.e. the paste doesn’t work.
The only way I can get it to stop doing this is to disconnect from the application and close and re-open the file. And even this doesn’t work all the time. Please help! I hate to say it, but the problem seems to occur randomly...

Hi,
Open Options in your excel spreadsheet, and in the Display tab, select "Use Excel Formatting" and "Preserve Formula on POV change"
Restart excel and check if the problem goes away.

Smart View error on Launching Business Rule

Hi ,
I am in Planning 9.3.1
After connecting to Planning Webform from Smartview, i am trying to Launch Business Rule attched to the webform
Hyperion--> Calculation Option--> Rules on form
It open the new BR Launching window with all parameter selected in the Webform Page drop down list but when i trying to change the Arguments
by clicking on the icons or if i am clicking on the Launch button getting following error
"Substitution Vars XML is malfunctioned, can't initialize dialog"
any idea or tought on this.

SmartView "Substitution Vars XML is malformed, can't initialize dialoge.." Message is Displayed after Clicking on the Magnify Button [ID 752508.1]
Symptoms
Error message in SmartView after clicking on the magnify button "Substitution Vars XML is malformed, can't initialize dialog.." is displayed.
Planning web forms with Business Rule (Runtime prompt) set to "Run on Save". When submitting data in SmartView, it will then open a separate window to allow changes to the run time prompt values.
Cause
This issue is caused by substitution variables values containing double quotes or the '&' signs.
Solution
This is a noted bug, but the following will help as a workaround to the problem:
1. Login to EAS as administrator.
2. Next navigate to the enterprise view.
3. Select the Essbase Servers.
4. Right-click on your server.
5. Select Edit.
6. Select Variables.
7. Remove double quotes and '&' signs from substitution variable value.

Windows8 64 bit , EVENT VIEWER ERROR LOG

I just got a new windows 8- 64 bit notebook, I have only just set it up yet in event viewer I get lots of Error messages one is HP error ID 2146233088, some are marked
caution and others are critical and all seem to be under HP, I installed all windows updates and took out the 60 day trial of Norton internet Security 2013 and installed my own, my printer is set up with a USB cable wired, other than that I have only installed
Microsoft office home and student which I purchased for 3 computers from a retail
store, can anyone tell me why I would have so many errors showing up on a new computer.

How do I view error logs

WHen I shutdown, sometimes I see an error pop up quickly as its shutting down. Its too fast to read. I have a weird issue tht when I reboot/shutdown it takes me to the log off screen first, where I then shut down. Like to fix this.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Hyperion Smart View Error in Word and Power point

When I retrieve (Import) a report (FR) into MSpowerpoint or MS word I am getting an error message "The specified file wasn't found". Has any one faced this error before?

You most likely have a SV template set up and are trying to share that template, correct? The functions are looking for the SV xla in the bin folder, so if SV is installed in different paths, then your SV template will produce that error. When you first open the template and you get the update links, select edit, then browse to where the user has SV installed and go to the bin folder. This should update those functions.

CRIO application works in interactive mode but broken VIs reported in error log when run built application on target

I have been getting more than my fair share of grey hairs the past few days because of this. Over the past few months this almost never happened. Lately, after a seemingly minor change to some serial communications code, hardly a single build works without throwing errors like this:

This is using a cRIO 9074 running CompactRIO recommended software set 14.0.1 .
These errors happen right at startup. Memory use is steady in interactive mode, about 20 MB contiguous memory is unallocated out of 128 MB. I have taken pains to prevent allocation and follow cRIO besta practices non concatenated strings array building in loops etc). CPU is 50-60% when running interactive mode.
Really at my whit's end here, I have tried the various combination of enabling / disabling debugging in the RTEXE, disconnecting typedefs etc. I have not noticed a pattern.

What minor changes did you make to the serial communication code? Posting the VI or a screenshot of the VI with the modifications which caused the RTEXE to stop functioning could be useful to troubleshoot the issue.
