  • Smart View Vs Web data form entry

    Hi
I am currently developing a planning model that is due to be rolled out a number of non finance users.
I find entering data on a web form quite time consuming and not very user friendly. For example when scrolling across left to right the screen doesnt automatically scroll with you.
I have seen that on smart view data can be entered on a form using excel however the worry is here various spreadsheets could be saved all around the place losing the benefit of entering the data in one source.
Has anyone had any experience of rolling out smart view to non finance users?
    Thanks

We're just about to roll out an application with and have demonstrated both the Web Forms and Smart View methods of submitting data. Most of the data will be consolidated using various offline spreasheets so the desire for our users is to copy and paste large blocks of data rather than enter them directly onto the Web Forms/Smart View forms. Some of our forms have 100's of rows so for this reason Web Forms aren't really an option given the time it takes to copy and paste a block of data from spreadsheet A to Web Form B. The difference was 1 minute (spreadsheet>Web Form) vs 1 sec (spreadsheet > Smart View Form) for some forms.
As soon as we demoed both methods, this was confirmed, the users started to think of ways they could link their backend spreadsheets to the Smart View forms for ease of submitting data. Early indication is that most users will save a copy of their relative forms on the local machines as a template. They will then use this template to consolidate the data from the external spreadsheets offline. Once they are ready to submit, they intend to copy the whole block from the template into a fresh retrieve of the form for submission.
We haven't looked into offline forms due to the concerns we had with users creating links between the offline form and multiple external spreadsheets. We're just not sure at this point whether it is possible or suitable. It is very unlikely that any values will ever be keyed directly into the form.

  • Some users not seeing all of a web form in Smart View Excel 11.1.2?

I am on Planning 11.1.2 and I have an end user who, when he opens a web form in Excel using Smart View, he only sees about 1/3 of the entire form. If in the Oracle/Planning web, the form is fine. When he uses my machine, he sees the entire web form in Smart View Excel. Is there a setting on his Excel I need to change?
    Thanks.

It's a limitation, if you will, of the way JDeveloper works. It essentially runs your JSF page in order to get the rendering. At design time, the phase listener is obviously messing things up since you're not in a proper secured environment - hence the workaround to bypass your phase listener at design time.

  • HFM Data Form in Smart View - Improper Suppression

We have several data forms that are opened by a group of controllers every month to load forecast information to HFM. This data form is opened by all of these users in Excel and submitted back to HFM via Smart View.
We have instructed all of the users to turn off ALL suppression while working with the data forms because there are some invalid intersections for ICP based on the input entity. The form is rendering properly for all users but one. When he opens the data form it appears to show all of the lines, but then once it fully loads, it is removing/suppressing one line that is an invalid intersection. In checking his Smart View options, I can clearly say that he does not have ANY of the suppression options in use.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Are there any workarounds? Why would this only happen for one user when 10 others have no issue when using the same file/form/options?
Your help is appreciated, as always!
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
If this is only for one user, I doubt something wrong in his profile.
Ask your IT to have his profile recreated to see if the issue disappears.
    Hope this helps,
    Thank you,

I have recently installed smart view client on my machine.
After establishing connection,if I am opening a form in smart view it is giving something:

    * Was the form created by editing another existing form, and saved using the 'Save as' option?

  • Error entering data in a data form using Smart View

One of my user is facing an issue while entering data in a data form through Excel, if she uses the same data form in workspace she is able to enter data. She is facing the issue while entering in a specific column, for all other columns she is able to enter data in the data form. It is only one column for which she is facing issue while using smart view/excel and not workspace, as in workspace she is able to enter data.
    Thanks,

    Hi
Check they have the "Data Form Write Back from Excel" role in Shared Services.
See p.133 of the security guide for more info -

  • Data Forms in Smart View - Add Members

We have data forms with Add Member functionality. When opening that data form using Smart View it puts red border around top member but then instead of allowing user to select a member it lists all of them in the rows. A good example is ICP data form where user can select partner to report balance. The data form online allows selection of individual partners but when same data form opened in Smart View it lists all 1,000+ ICP True entities.
Is syntax different when data form to be used with Smart View?
    We have V11.1.1.3.

You have to suppress no data/zeros in SmartView and refresh the form to see the rows collapsed. I had created an enhancement request for this and it is currently under review by development. I would suggest you do the same if you'd like to see this fixed.
The bug is listed as 13878488 - SUPPRESS ROWS IS NOT ENABLED WHEN OPENING FORM IN SMARTVIEW

  • Hyperion Planning form change not flowing through to Smart View

Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 and Smaer View 11.1.2.
I have a user that installed SV yesterday but has been using planning for years. I made a change on his planning form (just added an account) and he does not see this change in smart view. However, he does see the change when logged into Hyperion Planning in his form.
One strange thing about this is the change shows for all hierarchies except for ones that he has loaded data to. So, for a hierarchy that has no data, it shows the form in SV how it is in planning. If he loads data to the hier, the form automatically switches back to how it was before the change, even when the planning form itself hasn't been changed.
Here is what we have tried:
    Rebooted machine
removed user security completely from plannng and added back
checked for ghost instance in task manager or excel
Opened new Workbook and opened form fresh
remvoed connection, closed excel and all instances, new connection and open form fro mblank slate
Nothing seems to be working. And I see the form how it is in planning. HE does not, he sees it the "old way" and ony for hier points that have data submitted to them. So, literally switches the view based on the POV.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Sounds like in the smart list set up you set "#Missing Data Form Label:" to "Data Form Setting" change it to "Drop Down Setting" and it should be alright.

  • Can we display attributes when opening a form in smart view

    Hi Everyone,
If a form has attribute members in a row, the web view displays the attributes, but smart view doesn't. Is this a bug?
    Thanks,
    Sayantan

    Hi Kiran,
I am not quite sure about what you meant actually. I simply have a form which has some attributes for each member in rows. I can see the attributes for in the web view. However, when opened in Smart View, the attributes are not shown (the columns themselves are missing).
Can you please explain in detail? It would be really helpful if I can find an answer to this.
    Thanks,
    Sayantan
PS: Why would a user need to create an ADHOC query for viewing a form in Smart View?

  • Dimensions set to Selectable are not selectable w/in Smart View Data Forms

When trying to use a data form by clicking "Select Form" in the Hyperion toolbar in Excel (not exporting from webspace), Dimensions that are defined as Selectable are not actually selectable within Smartview. Below is a portion of the script:
    BackgroundPOV=S#***.Y#***.w#***.V#***.I#***.C4#***
    SelectablePOVList=P{***}.E{***.[Base]}.C1{***.[Hierarchy]}
Within the web, the form works fine and everything selectable is selectable. Within smart view, only Entity is selectable. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have found this and its generally because the dimension is referenced in the column
i.e Year and period is displayed in the column.
In HFM you can select the members from the POV but when opening in SmartView you can't
Solution is to remove the dimension from the col or row.
    Thanks

  • Problem opening form in Smart View

We are using 11.1.1.3. When viewing a Planning form in the Workspace, I choose File->Open in Smart View. This works for some forms but not others. Excel is launched but nothing happens. Am I missing a form setting? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Smart View 'Free-Form' vs Excel Add-In

The following Sample.Basic retrieve is valid in the Excel Add-In:
    Actual
    100-10
    Jan
    New York
    1234
    Connecticut
    5678
It will retrieve in Smart View, but always converts immediately to this:
    Actual
    100-10
    Jan
    New York
    1234
    Connecticut
    5678
Note that the Scenario and Product members have jumped over to 'stack' on the Year member.
I can't find any way to stop this happening.  The context is converting some legacy Add-In reports.  Users don't want to change the layout at all, if avoidable.

    GlennS_3 wrote:
Frankly for me, the issue you have is minor, but I don't know your users
Hi Glenn, to respond (seriously) to this point - yes, it's not really a disaster.  But there are ten years' of accumulated Add-In reports at this client, some formatted carefully for presentation.
    One nasty real example:
Say those POV/page members for Scenario and Product are fed from formulas; cell references to a master sheet. And that those rows are hidden for display purposes.
Now the user starts using Smart View instead of the Add-In.  The first time she refreshes, everything looks good, so she thinks "No changes necessary for this one - next!".
But Smart View has - unseen - pasted the current literal values for Scenario and Product into all the other columns on the report (none of the formula options seem to affect this).
The next time the user runs it, updating the master sheet Scenario and Product doesn't have any effect on the retrieve.
It's a shame Smart View feels the need to mess with the layout, since it is clearly capable of interpreting the first format correctly.

  • How to see Shared Members in Smart View on Ad-hoc Analysis mode

    Hi All,
We are using Hyperion Planning v 11.1.1.3.
For the alternate hierarchy we have created shared members. But in Smart View we are unable to see Shared members hierarchy in Ad-hoc analysis mode.
Is this limitation in Hyperion Planning?
    Or
Is there any way to see shared members Hierarchy in Smart View in Ad-hoc analysis mode?
It is urgent requirement Please let me know as early as possible
    Thanks in Advance!!!

When you say open data form in Ad-hoc mode, can you do that? I think when you select Ad-hoc mode, you are basically connecting to Essbase and therefore need to manually select the members. (of course, I've got a 11.1.2 env right now so not too sure of 11.1.1.3)
I'm able to just go to Member Selection and select whatever hierarchy i want, Shared or Stored, when I'm connected to Essbase. When connecting to Planning, I dont have any option of opening the form as Ad-hoc mode.
Can you see the hierarchy if selecting the members using Essbase connection and not planning?
    Cheers,
    Abhishek

  • "Open in Smart View" option. Hyperion Planning version 11.1.1.3

Failure to download planning form to Smart View using the "Open in Smart View" option. Hyperion Planning version 11.1.1.3. Error message "Web launch operation has been cancelled.
    Your feedback is appreciated.

I understand you are on 11.1.1.3.
However, this is documented in the Known Issues section of the Smart View 11.1.2.1 readme and could be worth a try:
When you try to open a Planning web form in Smart View through Workspace, you may get this error: “Web launch operation has been cancelled.” This happens if Essbase has not been added as a server in Shared Connections. Workaround: Open the Smart View Panel in Smart View and add an Essbase server as described in the online help or "Adding Essbase Servers" in chapter 2 of the Smart View User's Guide.

  • Filtering by attributes in Smart view on Cloud

    Dear all,
We are working on the Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services and we have a question regarding the filtering by attributes in smart view.
We tried to create a report filtering by attribute but this option is not available in the Smart view Member selection.
However, filtering by attribute is available from a form.
Could yo please help us with this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Marta

    hi Marta,
The use of attributes in PBCS is not available in Smart View nor Financial Reporting Studio.  I am also trying to figure out a workaround as this is critical for reporting purposes.  The two links below explain the issue.
    Smart View
Bug 19365552 : PBCS - CANNOT LOAD NOR USE ATTRIBUTE DIMENSIONS
    FR
Cannot See Attribute Dimensions in Financial Reporting (FR) Studio with a Planning Datasource ( Doc ID 756286.1 )
