'Smart view' in iTunes

The only thing that is stopping me from switching from WinAmp to iTunes is the 'Smart View' feature in Winamp, which I don't believe is used by many people but which I find extremely useful.
Let me explain:
In Winamp, I have set up some dynamic playlists, that are generated based on a query that extracts Genre information to build the list. I have playlists for chilled, heavy, jazzy, folky, sleepy music etc. and any new music that I add to the library is automatically added to the playlist. For example, the query for my 'Sleepy' music looks like this:
genre = "Classical" OR (artist = "Sigur Rós" AND album !="Von Brigði") OR genre HAS "Ambient" OR genre = "Downtempo" OR artist="Mike Oldfield" OR genre="Trip-Hop"
This means that ANY new music falling into the above categories is automatically added and I rarely have to update the query unless there is a specific artist whose music I would like to add to the list but which does not fall into one of the aforementioned genres. Notice how the query above specifically mentions the album "Von Brigði" - this is an excluder, as I had noticed that tracks from this album were always waking me up when they came on (it's a remix album)
Anyway, the point is, I'm soon to get a Mac and will have to leave Winamp behind. Is there any way of doing a similar thing in iTunes?

Album view in iTunes 11 unusable because singles showing as "Unknown Album"

I have lots of "singles" in my collection (ie mp3s with nothing in the "album" field) as well as lots of albums.
Because of this, the "albums" view in iTunes 11 is virtually unusable, as 80% of the music shows as "Unknown Album" and prevents me from just browsing genuine albums.
Is there a ways to fix this so that the "albums" view only contains tracks that really are from albums? Nothing I've tried (e.g. flagging them as "part of a compilation") seems to make a difference.

Thanks - I have already done sonething similar with a number of smart-playlists myself, but this is a poor workaround and means the pre-built views in iTunes are useless. It's also something else to think about every time I import a new song so that it doesn't get lost.
Like lots of people, I've got loads of singles, mixes, radio shows and other music that is not groupable by album, and I find it ridiculous that iTunes hinders, rather than helps, to manage this.. Coupled with the appalling new search functionality this new version makes it harder than ever to navigate my music collection.

Ratings Views in ITunes 7.0

I guess I could post it as a question but why bother. Clearly nobody cares about fixing the My Ratings view in ITunes. Now, in the new version, it functions even worse than in the last iteration. It doesn't work, as always, in the "Edit Smart Playlist" mode. And now, when I try to assign a rating by right-clicking a song to enter the Get Info window, it doesn't work there. And what's worse, you used to be able to guess about the rating you were providing by judging the location of your click. Now, it is more difficult because where the stars should be, you just get big black bars. Why do I bother? No one cares and no one listens.

For transporting Query View
Go to -->RSA --> in "Transport connection" you have all kind of object.
Select "Query view" and select a list of objects.
Put the objects in "Collected object" and press the transport button.
And answer to your second question
In BEX Analyzer if i execute a query and apply filters on some chars and save it as view....does the Restrictions will also be saved
is Yes once you execute a query and applu some filter and then save as View it will save the ristriction also.

View in itunes button dont work

The view in itunes button doesnt work on my browser it used to then it suddenly stopped, how do i fix?

Works fine for me.
Worked fine for me until I started taking screenshots and thought it would good to illustate the "Remember my preference" button. Now it no longer does.
Uninstalling & reinstalling didn't help either. If I find a reliable way to renable I will let you know what I did.

Normal list view in iTunes 8

I can see how to switch all the views in iTunes. However when I go to the listing view (one on the left) everything is still grouped with album arts and what not showing in the display window. How can I get to just the normal "list" of songs that I can sort without this? I don't need album arts on the side as it gets annoying scrolling through 15,000 songs that aren't all on albums with art work.
Is this totally gone?

It looks like you are stuck in grid mode (middle). I click on list mode and there are all the songs just like before the update. Don't give up this feature wasn't removed it's just a matter of trying to figure out how to get the list button to work for you.

Can't load data through smart view (ad hoc analysis)

There is EPM application where I want to give ability to planners to load data through smart view (ad hoc analysis). In Shared Services there are four options in
EssbaseCluster-1: Administrator, Create/Delete Application, Server Access, Provisioning Manager. Only Administrator can submit data in smart view (ad-hoc analysis). But I don't want to grant Essbase administrator to planners, I'm just interested to give them ability to load data through ad-hoc analysis. Please suggest!

I take that you refreshed the Planning security, If not refresh the security of those users. Managing Security Filters
Check in EAS whether those filters are created with "Write" permissions.

Oracle Smart View 11.1.2.5.400 prompt bug still not resolved?

Good morning,
in our company we have OBIEE 11.1.1.7.140715 and we are testing Oracle Smart View 11.1.2.5.400 (Build 376) on Excel 2007 32 bit and Excel 2013 64 bit to allow our final users to work more easily.
Unfortunately almost all of our reports contains prompts and when we try to insert an object in the Excel worksheet we see the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object” and Excel hangs.
Is there any solution?

Smart View error logging in to an application

Hello,
I successfully installed Smart View on a computer with Windows XP SP3. I can connect to the data source, but when I try to connect to an application, after entering the username and password, an error pops up: "Requested operation failed. Error: java.lang.NullPointerException"
Do anybody know the issue?

Are you connecting to a Planning or Essbase datasource connection?
Can you try connecting to other DS connections to see if it works?
If connecting to an Essbase datasource, have you configured your APS correctly?

I realized that I can put a block in WebI and then I can pull that in excel alongside of static header, after putting the question.
My interest to know whether it is by design in XI 3.0 or it is an issue. But by the replies it seems to me like it is by design.
@Anis: I can't go for header as part of Body. Because this report is viewed in Web by many other users. I can't have separate report for Live office, it is a restriction for me. If I use the header in body, it wont look good I guess.

Issue with smart view add-in in MS word 2003

Hi,
I have smart view 9314 and office 2003 installed on my machine. I can see hyperion tab in excel and it works fine but i can't see hyperion tab in word or powerpoint. Its not in disabled items for word. I tried to add HsTBar.xla in word using Templates and Add-Ins option but it throws error: Invalid add-in. Any info to resolve the issue would be highly appreciated.

Office 365 Web Apps are not supported and cannot be supported as there is no platform for add-in's in that environment. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13602
Most Office 365 uses cases and users end up with Office installed on the desktop and at that point we are talking about normal Office Support. Right now it is up to the Office 365 administrator to determine the version of Office to be used by their 365 users. http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-enterprises/ff637585.aspx
Short answer is that Smart View does not support Office 365 Web Apps and there are no plans to support the Web Apps.

Excel 2007 and Smart View 9.3.1.4.041

Dear Experts,
We are now working with Excel 2007 and Smart View 9.3.1.4.041, and encounter the problem that ervery time open the protected excel file there would be the warning message "Drawing Objectes in one or more sheet(s) in the workbook are protected. Please unprotect them and try to save again."
Can any one suggest with;
1. How to set the Excel security settings for Excel 2007 to work for smart view?
2. How to avoid the message mentioned above while working with Excel 2007?
3. How to create a protected Excel file to work with Smart View 9.3.1.4.041 both in Excel 2003 and Excel 2007?

I've experiencied similiar problems, though other users may have found a better solution, I've unlocked the spreadsheat, refreshed, and then relocked via a VBA macro. A button object at the top of the spreadsheet was added to make it easier for the users use as well. If there is a better solution I am very interested in this as well.

How to see Shared Members in Smart View on Ad-hoc Analysis mode

We are using Hyperion Planning v 11.1.1.3.
For the alternate hierarchy we have created shared members. But in Smart View we are unable to see Shared members hierarchy in Ad-hoc analysis mode.
Is this limitation in Hyperion Planning?
Or
Is there any way to see shared members Hierarchy in Smart View in Ad-hoc analysis mode?
It is urgent requirement Please let me know as early as possible

When you say open data form in Ad-hoc mode, can you do that? I think when you select Ad-hoc mode, you are basically connecting to Essbase and therefore need to manually select the members. (of course, I've got a 11.1.2 env right now so not too sure of 11.1.1.3)
I'm able to just go to Member Selection and select whatever hierarchy i want, Shared or Stored, when I'm connected to Essbase. When connecting to Planning, I dont have any option of opening the form as Ad-hoc mode.
Can you see the hierarchy if selecting the members using Essbase connection and not planning?

I understand you are on 11.1.1.3.
However, this is documented in the Known Issues section of the Smart View 11.1.2.1 readme and could be worth a try:
When you try to open a Planning web form in Smart View through Workspace, you may get this error: “Web launch operation has been cancelled.” This happens if Essbase has not been added as a server in Shared Connections. Workaround: Open the Smart View Panel in Smart View and add an Essbase server as described in the online help or "Adding Essbase Servers" in chapter 2 of the Smart View User's Guide.

I have no use for Songs view. I always use Albums view (personal preference - I think of my library as a collection of albums, not of songs), but never had any problem at all with the use of the top-left icons in iTunes 12. Indeed, I much prefer the iTunes 12 version of the sidebar - ironically, for the reason that some seem to object to it: it doesn't clutter up a standardized listing of my library content with device-related information, and does not change if I connect an iDevice. In general, the only interaction I need at the device level is the Eject function - all content syncing is controlled through playlists associated with each device I use (which, of course, are visible and can be modified whether a device is connected or not). I only need to see the details of a device on the rare occasions I want to make a change to its behavior with respect to synchronization.
