SmartCard Reader issues

Hi,
I use SmartCards for business and online transactions, and I bought a USB SmartCard Reader for my Mac Book Pro. The reader is the SCR3310, and I've noticed with the one I bought and some of my co-workers' readers, my Lap top will not recognize the reader when I plug it in nor push any power to it. My USB ports work well enough in the sense that I can plug in my USB mouse, keyboards, and external hard drives without any problems. The weirder thing is one of my co-workers has an older MacBook Pro, and his does work with my Smart Card Reader, is there some weird security setting that is not allowing my USB drives to recognize this reader? If so how can I adjust it?
Thank you for any information!
Tomes

I don't have any specific guidlines. If a source or source RPMS (SRPMS) available for the SCR335 on any other linux distribution, it may be possible to rebuild them for JDS.

  • SmartCard reader not working (EliteBook 8740w)

    Hi!
I had a fully clean Win8.1 install on the 8740w - Can't get the SmartCard reader to read any cards. Its been a complete dud since I installed the new Windows. I have the new drivers, I've installed them, uninstalled them and installed them again. Is this a problem with Win8.1 or is there a solution for this? Is it broken?

    Hey LVD,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum!
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

  • Smartcard reader not working under Mountain Lion

I have an SCM SCR3500 smartcard reader. It was working under Lion, using the Mac OS Forge smartcard driver. After upgrading my MacBook Air to Mountain Lion, the reader is no longer recognized. To make matters worse (!!!), Mountain Lion only allows installations via the App Store. Is there a driver for 10.8 that can be used with this reader? Where? How?

Another piece of information; I checked my system logs and found this entry repeating once I tried to connect my external display:

    Hi,
I am facing issues on integrating SCR335 Smartcard Reader from SCM Micro. This is a USB reader.
Has anyone tried integrating USB Smartcard Readers with JDS? If so, are there specific guidelines for the same?

This did not resolve my issue, it actually made things worse. I did what
you had told me to do below, and it did not work. Tried to access the
internet to respond back to you and my computer was not able to reach the
internet. Tried reaching adobe support and not was able to, even tried
calling was on the phone for 20 minutes and no one answered. I was not able
to re install windows. Contacted Asus from another computer and they were
not able to help me reinstall windows They had asked me to ship my computer
back to them, due to them not being able to resolve the issue and help me
reinstall windows. I luckily had a backup on my external hard drive and was
able to reinstall windows 8. Spent over an hour and half trying to fix
that. Here I am still not able to install adobe reader. I was very unhappy
with what I was told to do and it gave me this issue.

  • PS CS3, Camera Raw 4.6 Update and Nikon D810 NEF File Reading Issue

      Currently Have Photoshop CS3 & Adobe Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.
According to Adobe, Camera Raw 4.6 supports Nikon D810 NEF files.  I have downloaded Camera Raw 4.6 Update. When
I try to open Nikon D810 NEF files, I get Photoshop CS3  error that says
"cannot complete request your because it is not the right kind of
document. These NEF files wont open in Adobe Bridge at all.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hey,
Before I purchased, let me get your thoughts on another option that just occurred to me which involves:
1)Editing my D810 NEF files in LR 5.6, which I have, then exporting/saving the edited files as JPEGs.
    2) Doing any additional editing, as necessary (i.e. that might require layering or selections..etc) , with the JPEGs  with Bridge or PS CS3.
This method wont involve any additional software purchase now.. right?    Am I missing anything.   here?    Since my final output to my customers are JPEGs any way, wont this work?   Will I be at any disadvantage.   Am I missing anything.   here?

  • Macbook Pro - SD Card Reader Issues Solved!

I recently purchased a gently used, early 2011 MBP. I've had it for a few months, but I did not try using the SD card reader until last week... so much for kicking the tires. Long story short, the darn thing did not recognize or mount one single SD card out of a handful of cards, and at least 3 different card manufacturers all used with my Canon DSLR. I searched the net trying to find a solution and tried everything from sticking the card in at a some strange and ridiculous slant to shutting the computer down three different ways and resetting the System Management Controller (SMC); nothing worked. So today I spent 25 minutes or so chatting with an apple care specialist and they (Jim the apple care guru) finally came up with a solution, even though I'm sure neither one of us knows exactly why it worked. So here goes...
Put your SD card in a external card reader, once it's mounted go to disk utilities and reformat (erase) the drive to Mac OS Extended. Take it out of your external reader and put it in the built-in reader on your Mac. Now, of course, it will no longer work in your camera or most other devices so you'll have to format it again in your device of choice. However, here's the kicker... once I did l all of that and took some quick pics, I put it back in my MBP and it popped right up even after a reboot. But wait there's more.... I then put the SD card in my wife's work laptop (PC running Win8) and played with the files for a bit, then stuck it back in the Mac and it still recognized it. So there goes the "windows screws up the formatting myth).
So naturally I assumed that I would be forced to go through this double formatting process for all of my SD cards (and I have a lot), but then it happened! A Christmas miracle in October. I tried a second card, and then a third and a fourth and a fifth, etc... AND now they ALL pop up just like they should. Without reformatting or any other humanly changed processes. Yep... There you have it, it makes no sense. But it works ;)
Somehow formatting just one card in the card reader "woke up" the whole process, almost like my MBP was like, hmmm I was wondering what you kept sticking inside that's slot of mine...
Hope this helps someone. Sorry for the rant :)

Anyone else with card reader issues should read this page. Just because your card reader doesn't appear to be working or has mysteriously dropped off your system doesn't necessarily mean a logic board replacement. I've repaired several portables over the years that had been quoted for costly logic board replacements, when in fact the failures were relatively easy to resolve once you understood the real problem.
It's common belief a PRAM or SMC reset should fix all hardware glitches but sometimes it just doesn't go deep enough, as I found out with my 2011 MBP. Simply removing the battery was all it took to resurrect my seemingly dead card reader, when PRAM and SMC resets failed to have any impact on the problem.

  • SmartCard reader not working on EliteBook 6930p

Driver sp41982 installed. XP Pro SP3 OS. Any SD card inserted is not detected. Laptop is leased so could this be a
    service call?

Am having similar problem with DV7-1232nr, smartcard reader won't access a 2GB micro-SD card with adapter--it sees & reads it, but won't open or copy files despite admin permissions/ownership/login/etc. The driver DL doesn't help since it's same version installed on LT--had hoped there was a NEWER driver to fix this!
Hoping your solution will be similar to mine. Good luck finding answers, either way!

  • X250 no smartcard reader despite on list

    Hello
It is my first post and sadly about wrong configuration of my x250.
When I was ordering my laptop there was a clear message it has smartcard reader. Sadly It came without it but some unremovable plastic  instead.
Has anyone seen something like this?  I just can't believe it happen and now support dosen't aswer my emails...
There wasn't even option to chose it during configuration, it was just on the list of standart configuration...
Oddily  enough, whan I tried to make another configuration today, smartcard reader is not there at all !!!
What is going on??? I paid over 1400£ to get something I cannot use ...

It depends of your wish and answer from Lenovo official staff if you'll decide to communicate with them or escalate this case.
    Because of:
    - the difference of cusomizing service options might be a feature for different laptop paltform (i.e.the screen type) or a bug of the site engine;
    - I can confirm - when I've choosed the 1st of 3 models with HDD, in the left column, the Smart card reader menu item ... was absent. But after I've choosed "Expand all configuration items" option, it has appeared.
Also you can add the reader yourself or in the Lenovo official cervice provider. Have a look at the Hardware Maintenance Manual and fru_bom file (the link for .pdf file is under "Download now" string):

  • Unable to recognize integrated smartcard reader by Client Security Solution

Hi, I have a W510 with an integrated smartcard reader. I tried to setup a new smart card, but at Client security solution ver. 8.30 over a windows 7  64 bits, is not recognized. Accessing the CSS software, I choose the Advance menu, an the option "Setup smartcard" always remains not highlighted, that means that the CSS software doesn't recognize the Smartcard/smartcard reader. The smart card reader driver is recognized by the system devices and it's installed well, the system said that is working correctly but I'm not able to access the "setup smartcard" option at CSS SW. I updated everything from Lenovo site and still doesn't work. Someone has any clue or idea about this? I'm trying to setup a Encryption Smart Card, I don't  have idea about what kind, but it's new from an Omnibook (a pack with 5 smartcards) and it comes label with "an imagineCard Solution" label. it has a round chip instead a square chip like the credit cards.
I really appreciate all your advices about this.

Yes, CSS software has the option to setup a smart card (as is mentioned at CSS deployment guide from Lenovo for CSS 8.3), but the software doesn't recognized the smartcard once I plug into the Thinkpad. The main purpose  for the smart card will be authenticate the user using smartcard allowing to work when it's inserted and stop to work once it's retired from the laptop. The chip and all security options are enable using CSS.
Please let me know how to solve this or give me the software/middleware to recognize the smart card for W510.
    Thnaks in advance.

  • Satellite L350D-12M - acrobat reader issue

When i install acrobat reader to my laptop it takes over most of my files and stops all the other files from working.

    Hi
To be honest I dont understand your acrobat reader issue.
In most cases acrobat installation should run smoothly without any problems.
If something went wring during the installation then remove the acrobat reader from the OS, then clean the windows and registry using the CCleaner and then try to install this software again

  • BB 10 - Smartcard Reader Support App & Proximity Lock etc.

    Hi,
S/MIME isnt supported without an BES10, ok. :-(
But, can i use the Smart Card Reader 2.0 without BES10 at least for Proximity Lock on my new Q10 like at my 9900?
Will be Smartcards (like the Safenet 330) supported on BB10 without BES10? (For Device Lock or to get VPN Certificates from the Smartcard)
Is the Smart Card Support App released? I cant find it in the App World :-(

I refer to the official Blackberry Q10 10.1 manual. Under Passwords & Security you find a "About Smart Cards" Section.
    here is the Link: http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/50635/als1334337087097.jsp
    "...About smart cards
After you download the BlackBerry Smart Card Support app from BlackBerry World, you can use a smart card and your device password to unlock your BlackBerry device. You can also use smart card certificates to send S/MIME-protected messages................."
There is no way to pair the Smartcard Reader with the Device without this App. The normal Bluetooth Pairing function doesnt work because the Reader is a special Device (which works with 256 bit AES-Encryption etc.)
On a 9900/9930 you must enter the Reader Section in the Settings and then select a "Connection-Assistant" which turns Bluetooth on and asks for pressing Buttons on the Reader/entering Pins displayed on the Reader..

  • Non-usb internal DTU smartcard reader redirection

I can get usb smartcard readers to redirect to my vista vm but can't seem to get the internal DTU smartcard reader redirection going. My setup is vdi 3.1.1, vbox 3.0.14. With a vista vm, what driver should be used for the accessing the internal DTU smartcard reader? Where do you normally get the driver? Is it suppose to be part of the Sun_Ray_Connector_Windows_Components install? How does the internal dtu smartcard reader device get mapped over to a vm? Im guessing it comes of as usb. How should a correctly forwarding dtu's internal reader showup in a vm. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
