SmartForms displayed as PDF in Portal
Hi,
We have implemented a new travel form using SmartForms and display it as PDF in Portal. Everything is fine except when you maximize the window, the PDF from is only half the screen. It does not expand to full screen. Does anyone know how to expand to Full Screen?
Thank you,

Hi Freinds,
We need to display a PDF on ESS Portal using ABAP Webdynpro. This PDF is W2 Employee Copy, which is generated by calling Reprint Method of W2Form object. The W2 form is in pdf format and can be seen via SP01 transaction.
How can I display this pdf on the portal using ABAP webdynpro.
Your inputs and suggestion are awaited.Hi Sumeet,
First, you need to create a web dynpro application which has 1 view. Put the interactive form control into the view. Bind PDF data to this control. Finally, create an iView for this application and show it in the portal.
By the way, you need to convert spool request to PDF before binding it. Check [Convert spool to PDF|http://www.sapdev.co.uk/reporting/rep_spooltopdf.htm]

Hi all,
I searched online but I haven't been able to find an adequate response. I have a WSRP portlet and I'd like to show a PDF document that is stored as a blob based on what document a portal user has access to. I tried setting the content type of the page to application/pdf and using the response's OutputStream to write the bytes out but it gives a generic error about the markup. Do you think it would be possible to get this working within portal?
Another option if the first one doesn't work is to call a servlet. In JDeveloper I added a servlet and tried calling it but I haven't been successful. Do you have any references to documents that would show how to call a servlet in portal via a JSP?
Thanks!Hi,
A WSRP portlet can only generate output in HTML.
This means you cannot generate PDF (our any other non-HTML) output.
As you point out yourself, the workaround is to develop a servlet which generates your PDF output.
In your portlet you can add a link to the servlet.
If your servlet runs on a different tier than your portal tier, you need to add a rewriterule or proxypass in order to access it.
Best regards,

Department 'D%/'1) 'D9'E) DDEH'1/ 'D(41J).
Please let me know what could be the problem.

Hi all,
I have a problem when I display a PDF in SAP Portal. This application shows me a form, developed in smartforms, in new windows in SAP Portal. In QA I donu2019t have a problem only in PRD. My problem is that this PDF doesnu2019t open directly, appears a pop up asking me to save it.
Why in QA this pop up doesnu2019t appear but in PRD appears.
There is some configuration in SAP Portal for this????
Anybody can help me???
Regards,
MarceloMarcelo,
1. Try disabling the pop up blocker if any on your production system.
2. Compare the pdf properties on both systems.
Open a pdf file, go to edit-> preferences and compare it on both the systems.
Hope this helps.

XSTRING with Binary of PDF - display R3 report in portal
Hello,
We have a requirement to show an R/3 report on portal as PDF. User will then be able to Print/Save the same.
I have browsed through different posts on SDN and
The idea I have is:
1. Print the report to spool (Backend).
2. Convert the spool to pdf (Backend).
3. Create a FM (in the backend) that exports an xstring with the binary of the pdf (of the report)
4. Using webdynpro for Java, create pdf form based on binary xstring.
5. Render the pdf to portal and display it in portal.
I have a couple of questions regarding this approach:
1. What exactly does the function module needs to export (what format and type should be used)?
2. How should the data being sent from the backend be handled in the Webdynpro Code? (What Context attribute should be created and what type should be used?)
Please share your experience if some one had developed a similar application. Any sample code would be really appreciated.
Thanks for Reading the post and for your time.

RajHi Raj,

Passing parameters from webdynpro to rfc and displaying pdf in portal
Hi,
I am creating a webdynpro application where in I am using the following code for catching the current user who has logged into the portal.
try{
IWDClientUser user = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
if(user.isAnonymousUser()){
//User is anonymous .. do something...
}else{
//user is authenticated..do something
}catch(WDUMException e){
//do something...
I am calling a rfc, how do I pass the username to the rfc?
This rfc will retrieve some data from R/3 and covert the data into pdf format.
How do I display this pdf document in the portal?
Thanks in advance,
JayeshHi Jayesh,
The rfc you are using should have a imput parameter that takes the user id as a parameter. When you import the rfc in webdynpro you will get an input class for the rfc. The parameter will either be in the input class itself or in a seperate structure which should also have a class separetely.
For example the rfc name is GET_USER_DETAILS
The input class will something like
INPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS
There will also be an ouput class like
OUTPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS
If there is a structure there will be class for that structure like
STUSER
If the parameter is in the INPUT CLASS then
after you initialize the class you can assign it to the input object
For Example
INPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS inp = new INPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS
inp.setUserID(userid)
If it is in the structure then
STUSER st = new STUSER
st.setUserID(userid)
Then assign the structure object to the input object
inp.setStUser(st)
About the PDF document.
When you create a PDF form you will create a label or an text field in the form.
The label or the text field will be mapped to the context of the view.
You can assign the username to the context variable which will be reflected in the pdf document.
Hope this helps

Error when displaying a pdf file in an iFrame
Hi,
I would like to display a pdf file in my Java Web Dynpro application. I am using an iFrame element.
The code I used is:
// test if the file exists
if( path != null)
path = "D:\\Echanges\\Facture\\" + path + ".pdf";
if (isFile(path)) // test if the file exist
wdContext.currentContextElement().setPath(path); // we set the path of the file for the iFrame url
else
wdContext.currentContextElement().setPath("D:\\Echanges\\errorDocAccess.htm"); // here we set the path of an error file to display in the iFrame
In the context, path is declared as a String variable and mapped to an iFrame. What happen when I lauch the program is the followig error:
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.InvalidUrlRuntimeException: Invalid URL=D:/Echanges/errorDocAccess.htm
I have checked the path of the error file and it is valid. How do I get to display my file ? The path is on the same server as the portal.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Display a PDF file from local drive
Hi,
I would like to display a pdf file that is actually stored on the portal server hard drive.
What I have tried to do is link an iFrame element to the url of the file: "D:
MyFolder
myFile.pdf"
But it doesn't work. I have the following error when trying to do that:
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.InvalidUrlRuntimeException: Invalid URL=D:/MyFolder/myFile.pdf
Does this means that iFrame can only display http URLs ? What are the other ways to easily display pdf files ?? I'am stuck with that problem and can't find any other solution.
I also tried with "servletResponse.getOutputStream().write(fileByteContent);" but the problem is that I am not in a PAR application, and I don't have the servletResponse element and don't know how to get it.
Thanks for your help.
Thibault SchalckHi,
You can not access the .pdf file using the nornal path (c:
), use the following code to open the pdf in ur iframe, this will work i used it in my application.
String sFileName =
strCampCodeVal"_"nReqIdVal+".pdf";
String sFile =
"C:
SBLI
BCP
barcode_files
"+sFileName;
File fFile = new File(sFile);
if ( fFile == null )
System.out.println("System can not download the
file at this time. Please try again later.");
return;
//Checking the file for existence
if ( !fFile.exists() || !fFile.canRead() )
System.out.println("You have specified an
invalid file to download. Please check and try
again.");
return;
//set the content type its important , try with applicatio/pdf also
res.setContentType("application/force-download");
//seting the header
res.setHeader("Content-disposition",
"attachment;filename=" + sFileName);
res.setHeader("Cache-control", "must-revalidate");
ServletOutputStream sosCur = res.getOutputStream();;
//reading the in and writing the stream
BufferedInputStream bisFile = null;
try
byte [] bBuffer = new byte[4096];
bisFile = new BufferedInputStream(new
FileInputStream(fFile));
int nBytes = -1;
while( (nBytes = bisFile.read(bBuffer, 0, 4096))!=-1 )
sosCur.write(bBuffer, 0, nBytes);
catch(Exception ex){
This will resove your issue.All the best..

Displaying a PDF File 'In Place'
Hi,
Can SAP display a PDF 'in place' like it can display an Excel spreadsheet 'in place?'
Thanks,
Malini.Hi,
Create an SAP Smartform. When you call the Smartfrom you can return OTF data. There is a function module that converts OTF data to PDF format - 'CONVERT_OTF'.
Then you can create a screen that has a container on it. Using the following methods, you can display the PDF:
1. Create a container
2. Create a control that is reference type cl_gui_html_viewer
3. Call method control->load_data
4. Call method control->show data
You can probably do this without the Smartform if you need to. You would just need to figure out how to load the PDF data into SAP.
Reward points if found helpfull...
Cheers,

Hi Gurus,
How do I generate interfaces generated in SmartForms and generate PDF. I want to play each iteration of my loop on one page of PDF?Hi,
You need to use FM 'CONVERT_OTF_2_PDF' to convert smartform to PDF.
Please refer below link for code sample.

Urgent: Issue while displaying the PDF Reports Using XDO Common region
Hi all,
In our product code we are trying to display the PDF Reports, using the xdo common region.
Previously we were writing the pdf reports direclty onto the response direclty.
This displays the report onto the browser but if navigate throw browser back button, it doesn't displays the report as the response stream is empty while navigating through back button.
So to solve this issue, i tried to write the report using the OAHTMLWebBean and xdo common region. Here is the code:
ByteArrayOutputStream xdoOutput = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
XDOUtility.retrieveReport(xdoOutput,
parameters,
prop,
appMod
BlobDomain bxdoOutput = new BlobDomain();
bxdoOutput.setBytes(xdoOutput.toByteArray());
String redirectURL = DocumentHelper.getOutputURL(pageContext,
bxdoOutput,
"Report",
"PDF");
OAHTMLWebBean outRegion = (OAHTMLWebBean)createWebBean (pageContext, OAWebBeanConstants.HTML_WEB_BEAN, null, "IFRAME");
outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("src", redirectURL);
outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("width", "100%");
outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("height", "100%");
outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("title","Report");
outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("name","Report");
pageContext.getPageLayoutBean().addIndexedChild(outRegion);
This successfully displays the report in the XDO Common region. But now the issue is that there are hyperlinks in the Report displayed where from where the user can navigate to other detail pages.
When we click on these links, a new session starts in the xdo common region.
Is it possible that when the user click the links in the report displayed, instead of starting a new session in the xdo region, the detail pages is displayed with in the older session.
Regards
